Alot of people hate'n on Harley or Metric....hell,just ride what ya got and enjoy it. Bikes are a freedom feeling ride with wind in your face and all your problems behind you!
Absolutely. I used to tell that to my Harley friends, it still didn't make a difference to them. I'd also tell them that every bike on the planet was made from the same elements vomited from a long dead Star
I had a 2003 VTX 1800C and it was a beast. I've never ridden anything with that kind of torque and power since. I like my 107 Street Glide but it's not even close to my old VTX in power. Wish I still had it. They were a lot of bang for the buck and very comfortable to tour on with the right set up. They're a great used bike to buy if you can find'em. My buddies' '02 1800C is till going strong with 90k+ miles on it.
+Gabby Hayes you know a lot of people tell me about the torque on that bike. It logged the quickest acceleration to 200ft than any previous bike tested as a vrod owner that's pretty humbling. And 107 streetglide that's on my wish list as my next bike
I traded an almost new Buel S3 for a brand new 1800c that was 20 years ago a few years later sold the vtx for a family oriented vehicle ands it is 1 of 3 i wish i still had. now older, wiser, and more mellow i cruise my 2003 American Iron Horse Texas Chopper for local and day runs, 2004 Custom Independence Freedom 240 for T to T around town, and My Babby 2009 Electra Glide Ultra Classic hands down the most comfortable bike i have ever owned or ridden in limited seafoam green with cream and a matching trailer...
"You will beat it" hits rev limiter, and still behind the Honda. lol! Great video man. Dont take it personal, i currentyly own a Honda Rebel, but next bike is Harley, or Indian. that bike you have is incredible.
Thanks for watching brother! I definitely don’t take it personal I love Honda’s. I still have my 2005 Honda Shadow 750 that started me getting back into motorcycling. Now I’m obsessed. Please check out my latest video and leave a comment ruclips.net/video/5JpqG0OPADg/видео.html it Vrod Muscle vs M109r Boss
I like your approach of not talking shit about either bike, I don't know why either owners have to hate on the other. Harleys have a better resale value but I feel the metric bikes are a better value, I have 2 quads and 3 bikes that I spent less on than a decent used Harley but that doesn't mean I hate Harleys, I've ridden one and thought it was smooth and stable as hell but I'd rather spend 8 grand on a four wheeler than 1/3 of a Harley, my FZ1 was dirt cheap and has some sweet luggage on it but if that's not what you decide is right for you then rock on and get in the wind on whatever you want to ride. It's your choice and since this is America you have that right! If Harley was still building that junk they built during the AMF years I'd say you must have been dropped on your head though! I think the product they build today is light years better than what they built back then. Ya'll stay safe whatever you ride!
+Frank S great commenting I appreciate it. I own Harley's and Honda's 2 of each I love them all and for different reasons. I don't get why people hate either a lot of times though it's because they have never experienced a Harley or the other way around. A Sportbike hater that's never ridden an FZ1 for instance. I personally think the hatred of Harley's runs deep in many and is based on a lot of misconceptions and maybe even a dislike for America itself. Thanks for watching and commenting
I own a Harley Road King and two Honda's, a VTX1300 and Valkyrie, I've owned Honda's a Yamaha XS1100, a Virago 700 a Kawasaki 400LTD and Suzuki's. street and dirt, I haven't had a bike I did not like, they are different but variety is cool, it would be very boring if they were all the same! I think I miss the XS1100 Special most.
+2DangerousDan Frank S and 2DangerousDan excellent comments from both you guys. You guys are what real bikers are about. I answer many replies to a lot of haters of Harley's mostly but also metrics as well. I think that's because most bikers have ridden more metrics than a Harley. Very few people hate Harley's after they actually ride one. I was a Harley hater too till I gave them a chance. Just like you guys I love all bikes. Thanks for commenting
I don't hate Harleys. I hate the elitist asshats "I'd rather push my Harley than ride a rice burner" type of guys. For example. My brother-in-law's brother showed up to Easter dinner a few years ago. He'd never shown up before but OK, that's cool, more family. He comes inside and he's got the black HD T-shirt, belt, boots and sunglasses. So after he settles down to the dinner table, we started talking bikes. He asks, "Whatta ya got, a scooter?" "A Yamaha Warrior", I answered. "Yeah, like I said, a scooter." Wow, sh!t talking right away. Dude, you hardly even know me. During our conversation he said something about how I should "move up". OK, whatever. I decided to not bother responding and keep things pleasant so as not disturb the holiday. So after dinner I ask to go outside to have a look at his bike. He's got a black Road King with leather saddle bags, ape hangers, fish tail pipes and yes, a whip on the left bar end. A really thick one. So I try and be nice and compliment him with "Well, you got the color right." (Black), "It's a nice looking bike.", "Nice, six gears, I wish my Warrior had six." and so on. I've yet to dis his Harley but his brother (remember, my brother-in-law) has been ragging on him about oil leaks and so on. I even tried defending HD by stating that for the most part, quality control has much improved since AMF got out of the business. But yet again during our conversation he says something to me about "moving up bigger". Hmm, OK you still wanna play that game. Fine. I ask him, "What size motor is that?" He puffs up, "98 cubes." "Aww, isn't that cute?" He looked at me quizzically. "Well, that's about 1800 cc or so." he says. "No," I said, "My Warrior is a 1670 cc. which is a 102. " Then he quickly stammers, "Well, I shoulda waited another year when they came out with the 103." So, making my point, decided that rather try to brag up the other better qualities of the Warrior, because he wouldn't care and wouldn't listen to anyway, quickly changed the subject to riding experiences such as close calls with idiot cagers, something we all can relate to. Ride what ya want, I honestly don't care. Just don't be a dick about it. P.S. While shopping for a crossover for my wife, I came across a GREAT deal in a 2007 VTX1800. I wasn't looking to buy another motorcycle (I already have 2, an 84 Virago and a 05 Warrior) but I thought if nothing else I could flip it and make a couple of grand (yes, it was that cheap!). Nice bike, I changed my mind, I'm keeping it.
Just got a 2002 VTX 1800c. It is my first bike. I am a big man. Around 300 lbs. And that bike MOVES with me on it. A lot of my friends w bikes say it’s a bit big for my first bike. But I will not need to upgrade to anything bigger for awhile.
As a Harley owner I will say that I have always thought the VTX is definitely a beast but I could just never get over the exhaust note. No matter what type of exhaust set up you put on it, it always sounds like it is misfiring or running on one cylinder. Not bashing, like I said it's a beast but the note is just a put off for some reason. I say as long as you're on two wheels screw it, enjoy the ride.
I agree the exhaust note doesn’t sound that great on the VTX1800 the same for the M109R is even worse. Honda has no excuse their VTX1300 sounds pretty good. They made an 45degree common pin vtwin years back that really had an almost Harley like sound but stop making it as well. To make a Vtwin sound as good as a Harley you gotta pay the penalty of 45degree common pin crank and pushrods. All that comes with a hp decrease 10hp deficit for the Honda ACE vs the 52 degree version same displacement and it wasn’t even a pushrod motor which would mean even less power. In other words Harley knows what it’s doing. If people preferred a different exhaust note than “potato potato” Harley would be finished!!! People love it including myself so they continue on....
I understand what you are saying and it was a put off for me as well. I finally found and bought one with a custom exhaust, and I don't know whose, that sounds terrific. I believe it is a Cobra exhaust.
HD struggles to keep up with Honda. This is true in every respect. Thats why I ride a Honda! I heard about 30 sec of the video, the music was that bad I had to mute most of it.
Minor correction on something you mentioned, IE, how the linked brake system works on the VTX 1800. The only brake that applies when using the front brakes, is two pistons (top and bottom) on each side of both front calipers (6 piston calipers on both discs.) Applying the rear brake applies the rear caliper, and the two center pistons, on both front calipers. So squeezing the front brake lever only can still send you over the handlebars. The reason Honda went to this system, back in the early 1980s on the GL line, was riders were going through back brakes faster than front ones, and not using the full stopping power of the bike. Running a linked setup, provided more stopping power, even with that bad habit, one I freely admit to having myself, developed when riding my CB550 and 750, or my XS Eleven Special, as all had solid rear braking. I only got used to using both brakes after riding my mother's XS 650 Special, which had poor performing rear brakes, by comparison. Myself, I prefer a standard brake setup, as I find the linked ones tend to try to upright the bike, when applied during a turn. And as an old dirt rider, I tend to throttle into turns a bit, and do a rear drag, coming into the corner, so it was an adjustment, to say the least, after riding the VT 1100 for a couple years. Great videos Paul. I just subbed.
Yes you are correct. I’m sorry for being wrong on that. I spoke without studying how that system works. Thank you for giving a thorough accurate description. Thank you for watching commenting and subbing. Ive got a couple of videos I’m working on for the future. Please feel free to comment on any and all my videos. I appreciate your input. This video is one of my most popular. I never knew it would be this big.
@@paulkmaster3231 i had the 1800 c in factory Champaigne color paint with tribal on the sides and i had been use to riding shaft drive bikes for a good amount of time before getting mine.. ram air intake, full cobra headers and slash cut pipes with the slugs knocked out, power commander and dyno tuned 125hp at rear wheel 127 torque i gave up a few torque taken the slugs out but my pipes didnt blue and it sounded a lot better.. the biggest differance was how you came into corners ...hot hot hot because as soon as you let of it sucked the bike to the ground and as you come out the back half you can use your throttle to push the ass end over...i rode that bike 10x harder than any other of the 50 plus bikes i have owned ..tires and foot pegs every 6k the bike had brutal torque and those Nissan brakes would stop on a dime as your 9 cent change flew by.. the only bike i wish i diddnt sell if for nothing else just the joy of riding that thing..
I own a 2006 VTX 1800 C. A buddy of mine has a brand new Road Glide CVO and cannot keep up with me when I open up the throttle on my X. I have been riding for over 26 years I had sport bikes Cruisers and even owned a 96 flstc. I honestly don't think there are very many metric Cruisers out there that can overtake an X. There is Monster Tour in every single gear!hands down this is the fastest machine in this platform you can get for this kind of money. For me, this bike is a keeper!
I agree. I have a 06 VTX with Cobra pipes other modifications and one advantage I have you may be familiar with it's coming off the line in 2nd gear and just smoking the s*** out of someone and leaving them in the dust. Due to the extreme torque of the 1800 VTX especially when you have pipes and modifications it is a monster.
How would it do against an old school Valk i have a '99 GL-1500? you talking about a sweet machine its super smooth & quick most people don't even think about that bike anymore because so many super muscle bikes have arrived on the scene like the Yamaha Raider, Sukuki M-109- Vulcan 2000 to name a few. The Valk is an old school carbureted monster I've never had a problem with my carburetors its been totally trouble free despite its age.
fun times, back 15 years my brother was racing my friend i worked with he had a v- rod . if i remember right my brother world beat him but barely. good times
Paulk Master wow I am honoured to be the viewer of the week cheers.Keep them great videos coming.Don't know exactly what your recipe is, but it keeps me watching.Probably shines through how much fun you are having doing this stuff.Stay safe bro.
I owned a 2008 VTX1800T. I have owned a few bikes since and none of them compete with the Torque and available power of the VTX1800's engine. It was excellent for long distance riding however it's heft ultimately drew me to other types of bikes. If I could justify owning more than one motorcycle at a time, I would of kept it. It truly was and still is a great engine.
+Stephen Romano Thanks very much for your input I appreciate it. Yes VTX1800 and many other power cruisers carry a lot of weight but those big twins really have an enjoyable power delivery that no Sportbike can match except a Buell lol I own one of those too. They are light but power falls off quickly as the revs climb. Thanks for watching and commenting
Buckeye Drew thanks for coming over.. you here the sound difference this was shot on the Hero5 black my latest videos are on the hero3+black. I'll check out more of your videos tonight God bless you my brother. Oh yeah please don't tell my pastor LOL
I wasn't worried how the 1300 sounded broken like a Harley since my 1800 was way ahead. I think the only reason the 1800 was pulled was because the 1300 outsold it. Probably because people wanted to imitate a harley rather than enjoy the machine for the groundbreaker it was. I still have my 2002. It had its day .
Both great bikes. I own the same VTX. I prefer the low end grunt. I can't give it full throttle till second gear. Sometimes I just start in second and jet to 60 in seconds. Not good in the twisties. 😎
Great video.. lots of guys hating on the VRod because Porsche had a hand in the design of the engine.. since when did Porsche become a bad thing? The revolution is the best engine Harley has ever stuffed in a frame.. It's no Vmax tho lol, that bike is no joke.. everyone loves to pull their peckers out and have a pissing contest when it comes to bikes .. who cares, get out and ride go have fun.
Actually harley had the motor..It was the race motor they used but they needed to make it streetable .that's where the porsche engineers came in to modify or redesign that platform...The basic layout was still harleys but it was made bullet proof with the help of the Porsche engineers.
VTX1800C! I rode 75,000 miles on it, with no problems! I made some upgrades on it that helped. Hyper charger, V&H big shots, PC3, mapped on Dyno...HOWEVER, if the exhaust sound is SO important...the 1300 vtx has a single pin crank, and gives you the POTATO, POTATO, POTATO...Sound that you crave. Lol
Couple of really nice bikes. I have owned my second 1800 VTX with Cobra pipes and other modifications. The Harley V-Rod is the only bike Cruiser Style I have to be on my toes however if we come off the line on a light I come off on second gear and he is a distant small object in my mirrors. Still I love my VTX and sooner or later I will buy a V-Rod.
My Honda VTX 1800C sounds like a freaking Drag bike, because that's what I basically built it to do. The double pin crank shaft is the reason you can't get that Deep V-Twin sound that you're talking about. We bore mine out to a 2000cc. We used a big bore kit from motospeed in Sweden, and used some higher compression Pistons. We ported the intake and exhaust chambers. My bike is pushing out over 130hp and 125lbs of torque , she can get away from you if you're not careful.
Thank you my friend Mike G. I really appreciate your continued support by watching commenting and liking my videos. Hopefully I'll be putting up a review of this bike also a Honda Fury also have a couple products to review ✌️😎👍 my bro
Both GREAT! I just came across your channel in my feed actually and I'm happy to support your efforts and those of other fellow moto content creators. I look forward to seeing and hearing more from you in the future, keep up the great work and ride safe out there.
+kevin shackelford Yes they are and lots of other great muscle cruisers out there M109r Raider Vegas Jackpot etc...Thanks again for watching and commenting ✌️
Always wanted a VTX 1800. Then I rode one and did not like the rev limiter coming on so soon (5,700 RPM). Went to a VMAX instead - 9,500 RPM redline and no limiter.
hey I just watched your video and noticed you were riding in my old neighborhood. I just picked up a 2002 vtx 1800c with 44,000 miles and I'm doing a full overhaul on it. If you don't mind I might message you if I run into any issues I cant figure out.
Texass pats : I used to have a 81 kHz 1000 I put 4 mikuni on it and a jerker race only header bent the crankshaft racing Kaw. Gave me a new one under warranty. Good old days. Fast bike in its time. But now they get smoked by hopped up high compression big cammed sportsters on the 1/8 mile drag strip near me. Times change
my vtx 1300c with BUB pipes give out that concussion exhaust note as I get compliments from Harley owners too on how quick mine is, my buddy has dyna and idling next to him we sound the same lol
+Live2RIDE83 yes the vtx1300 sounds great the vtx1800 ah...not so much in fact the vrod sounds better than vtx1800 and M109r but not as nice as vtx1300....you get the picture. Thanks for watching and commenting
The 1800's use and offset dual pin crank design, to smooth out harsh engine vibrations....which it does a tremendous job off. My 1800 is smooth as silk. The down side is you don't get that classic single pin crank exhaust note (like the 1300 and HD's) . I've got a set of Vance and Hinds big shots on mine and I think it sounds damn good. A little "too good" even. Might have to install a set of their quiet baffles in them to keep the neighbours happy?
I have a harley ultra limited and a Honda vtx 1800. I had my vtx dino spec'ed and tuned with the aftermarket parts. 110hp and 120 ft lbs torque. No harley will touch it!!!! You won't beat it in the right gear. It will drag your ass everytime! And I own the most expensive harley! But it's for comfort. The vtx is for fun!!
+Mr. Céspedes Hey thanks for watching and commenting yeah vtx1800 rocks bro. John is doing some more customization so can't do my own review on it till after summer. But please continue watching my channel and commenting ✌️😎👍
Mr. Cayote 5.0 unfortunately those VTX’s sound so shitty even with aftermarket exhaust. I owned one for years so I can tell you from experience lol. They get loud with exhaust but just don’t sound good at all.
I agree they don’t sound that great. I owned an M109r that didn’t so hot either. Ironically the Vtx1300 sounds really good though. The Vrod sounds a lot better than the VTX1800 or the M109r. Not as good as pushrod Harley or pushrod Yamaha(Raider or Warrior) but the Vrod has a nice growl.
The VTX, yes....but the VRod......not unless you want to ride that clutch out and burn it up all the way to engagement. The VRod makes only 84lbs/ft at 7,000RPM, where the VTX makes 119lbs/ft (35lbs/ft more than the VRod) at only 3,000RPM. The VRod is definitely a bike you want to start in first gear and ride out to the rev limiter in every gear.
My current bike-ish (VTX 1300) and my future bike (V-Rod) in the same video. Awesome. I gotta say tho the VTX tends to put out an awesome sound. It's not that Harley rumble, but it's a nice sound to ride to.
+Adam Riddle I love all the vtx1300 iterations especially The Fury and sounds awesome btw it sounds better than a Vrod but not as good as a pushrod Harley imo. Thanks for watching and commenting my friend
Man I have a 06 VTX 1300 and it has a thunderheader exhaust that was custom fit with bracket onto the bike. Man it sounds awesome. I don't think that thunderheader have pipes for sell for the VTX's. But I may be wrong
I like Honda cruisers. Had a 750 once upon a time. Will probably never own a harley. Have owned many cars in my life and have always ran into problems with American made ones. My 05 civic still has all original parts 14 years later. Precisely why I stick with Japanese mobiles. Their engineering is on another level. If I was more mechanically inclined or rich then I would probably give harley a shot. There's something special about them. I just can't rationalize paying quadruple the price for the same (or inferior) technology.
I would like to reply to your comments. I appreciate you watching and taking the time to leave a comment that’s more than just one sentence long. Honda cruisers are great and so are many Honda products sold worldwide. Let me confide in you I’m a Master certified auto mechanic and L1 advanced computer diagnostics for over 25years. Also I am Japanese I was born in Japan in a city called Fukuoka in Kyushu. I am also proud to be an American!!! If you have an 05 Honda Civic with the original radiator Vtec solenoid Tstat Alternator water pump motor mounts cooling fans valve cover gaskets clutch(if manual Trans )Etc...And never replaced any of these items you would be in the minority of 05 Honda Civic owners. With over 100k miles. Interestingly enough I currently own a 05 Pontiac Gto 6.0 6spd and before 100k only replaced water pump but did it twice because replacement water pump was cheap Chinese aftermarket. After 100k I’ve done many of the same items I mentioned above that the average Honda Civic will also need replaced. Many American cars are extremely reliable and problem free exception is Chrysler but look who has owned them. Mercedes and Fiat!!! Put a diagnostic scanner on a 05 Mercedes Audi or BMW it’ll light up up like a Christmas tree with a minimum of 5 trouble codes I had a 2010 Mercedes with over 60 trouble codes!!! Public perception is these cars have superior engineering and reliability. Ask an honest mechanic what cars are the most trouble free. My pick won’t be Honda it would be a simple base model Toyota with 4cyl stay away from V6 and run as fast as you can away from any Japanese V8. Second would be any Ford or Chevy V8 rear wheel drive base model anything that’s left cars or trucks. Stay away front front wheel drive GM unless it’s the Saab based ecotech 2.0-2.4 4cyl non turbo. Do not get Cruz Spark or whatever non Saab engineered engines. GM Saab is much more reliable than “Saab”Saab if you know what i mean plus parts are more available as well. Honda 750 shadow is better than all sportsters before 2010 I believe. But after that the sportsters might be better. Test ride them for yourself. They have slowly and steadily made them better and better. They are definitely faster then the shadow 750 but still not as smooth. If you buy the Harley new or used at Harley they will absolutely treat you like gold and other Harley owners will reach out and welcome you to the family it’s not hype it’s a reality. I myself was blown away by the kinship that comes from owning a Harley it makes a difference. Harley haters make fun of this aspect because they never experienced it. I get it I was one of those. But not anymore. Please do not think because Harley engines are pushrod and air cooled 45degree common pin crank is because Americans are too stupid to come up with something as high tech like a CBR1000rr. My question to you is why would they have to? Harley outsells Honda by a huge margin here in the states. It definitely holds an edge worldwide in the cruiser market as well. If Harley did build a 4cylinder superbike that competed with the Cbr1000rr. Would anybody buy it? Would you? Even if it was the same price I don’t that many people would buy it. Do you? Erik Buell built some cool bikes with Harley he even built a bike that was nearly as good as a 1199 Panigale if that’s what people wanted how come he went out of bussiness? It was a great bike!!! I think he is still plodding away somewhere in Wisconsin building and selling the 1190rx or whatever versions are out there. Anyways I’m sorry I went on a little long. If you are living in the states you are blessed. This is the greatest country on earth at this time. It is not perfect but it’s the best place on earth. If that’s not true why are so many trying to get in? If I was in Japan I wouldn’t be able to afford an 05 Civic because they tax you to death on older cars make you certify the car every year very expensive pay for parking space have a damn ringer going off when driving over the speed limit bs. God Bless America
They were not racing ..if you want to see which is faster all u have to do is Google it ...v.rod is faster in quarter mile ! Its lighter and revs higher
Hell no! I gave up!! Wasn't worth putting it through a pond with all the snow melting in the back yard. It took me and my son to get it back in my garage.
Bought a vtx1800 bout 8 months ago and yeah! A couple mods myself, not tuned on dyno and still yeah! I dont downshift like normal in traffic cuz i dont have to... Just power through it! It would be interesting a drag strip run between the 2. It would gain a subscription and a bell, a response would be subscribe.
I would do a drag race if I could get any other power cruiser in the South Florida area to do one!!! That is a challenge i have given to M109riders.com with zero response. My buddy John the owner of the Vtx1800 in this video traded it in for the Night Rod version VROD. I also offered challenges to Star Raiders in the area. Nobody has taken this challenge. The only bikes I would not want to mess with is a Vmax or a Diavel. If you know anyone please have them reply to my email address is paulk.asemaster@gmail.com
Ive had both these bikes..Vrod just looks alot better to me..sold my 2012 muscle..Selling my 2016 883 iron and gonna get another Vrod muscle..Still ride the hell out of my 2015 Z1000...
I'm sorry but the guy on the 109 had no freakin clue what he was doing. I don't know about the vrod but I know that bike was not being riden to its potential.
Great looking bike. I was in two minds whether to buy the M109R or the Honda Fury. I really liked the look of the Honda, but finally decided on the Suzuki. Watch that rev-limiter!
The 1st Gen Vrod 1130cc went as quick as 11.2’s stock. The 2nd Gen 1250cc Vrods 11.6’s I guess the added weight of bigger gas tank and larger swing arm and components to handle the bigger 240 tire size hurt 1/4 mile performance. 1st Gen is about 50lbs lighter. All without 120lb riders.
@AndrewD666666 they are a production bike. Anyone with $40k could order one. Ready to race right out of the box. 1st Gen Busa’s barely broke 9’s the 2nd Gen’s were definitely faster. Vrod destroyers were easily 9 second bikes. You said “any Vrod” and that’s a Vrod. Btw my ZX14r humiliates BUSAs. You need a turbo to beat a ZX14r💪
Your the first guy that noticed that!!! Hint I gotta keep it interesting 😁 If you noticed I did say my bike will beat it but you gotta rev it up. Thanks for watching and commenting my friend
I ride and have broken my fair share of rules in my day. Banging out gears in a residential neighborhood (kids and pets potentially entering roadway) is pretty disrespectful as an adult. This gives bike rides a bad rap.
test drive a 2012 or newer rocket three. Ive owned an 02 vtxr 1800 with a few power adders. ive ridden a vrod. But they dont compare to my 2017 triumph rocket III roadster. 160 lbs of torque at 2500 rpm. ya 2500 rpm. It has about 140ish horsepower too. I have yet to full throttle it on launch due to power wheelies in the first three gears. something about and 800 pound bike doing wheelies doesnt feel right. i hit 120mph the other and had plenty more motor but didnt want to die. my vtx barely hit 122mph. My rocket does 0-60 in 3.3 seconds. the torque pulls me off the bike. its insanity and very addicting
+wwdavis8989 very powerful the Rocket 3. I haven't ridden one yet in fact only have seen one on the road once. It's not even in the same league as these Vtwin cruisers with that 2.3 triple engine. Thanks for watching and commenting
Sweet VTX!! I'm wondering why Honda ended its reign a few years ago and decided that 1300cc's was enough. Although the VTX is SUPER heavy, it was a beast among V-Twins...and still is!
DJ T Rump im working on it trust me many phone calls and text messages have been made! I know there is a Stryker vs Fury comparison by one of the cycle mags out there. It's down a bit on power even against it's Harley rival rocker c and the Yamaha Stryker but neither look as raked out and both are more expensive so I hope that helps for now.
They didn't sell all that well. People loved the 1300 since it cost less, looked nearly identical, had "enough" power for a cruiser and had the somewhat typical harleyish (not 45degree, 52 degree I think) sound due to a single pin crank. The 1800 does not have a single pin crank. It sounds like a slice of a V8. I have one still. 2002 VTX1800s and it has had ZERO mechanical issues in 15 years. It was so obnoxious with a straight pipe on it. I could not stand it. It was so loud that the Harley's would back away hundreds of feed because of the noise would drown them out. Easily heard for over a mile in urban settings. I tossed them in the trash and got a decent set of 2-1 Roadhouse pipes that I still have (with all the glass cooked out). It takes a pair of brass balls to ride the 1800 vtx c model how it could be ridden. If you can get a price you like I recommend one, parts will still be available for a while. Ride the snot out of it.
+Jim Kalfakis GoPro hero3+black edition I have a Hero5black but audio not as good as the 3. Thanks for your support. Thanks for watching and commenting
Always wondering why the production of VTX was stopped. After you ride a Honda VTX you will fall in love with it. The government protecting the American brand. Is ok.
I have a 2007 1800 vtx-R with a power command 5. It's so throaty and has beat most HD all the way thru. I have nothing against HD. I just bought my bike first.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Please watch my latest video M109R vs Vrod Muscle ruclips.net/video/5JpqG0OPADg/видео.html Tell me what you think. Thanks
Where are you getting this info? 63% of Harley’s built in China? Are you talking about parts? Are you saying the frame the engine the forks the tires that say Harley Davidson right on them the Brembo brakes etc.. are made in China? Tell me exactly what parts are you talking about that are made in China ?
as a vrod owner.. you didnt even pass 6000 rpm where you have another 4000 to go which is the power peak of the vrod.. id say you left the ‘handbrake’ on for friend sake..
Thanks for watching and commenting. Yes you are 100% correct. Not many people catch on that I’m not 100% throttle I’m holding back. I even say in the video I can beat his bike. Anyways please watch my newer video I think you’ll be happier with me. ruclips.net/video/5JpqG0OPADg/видео.html It’s Vrod vs M109r
Some Dude oh sorry for the misquote of the figures mann.. i rode a vrod for more than 5 years.. all i see redlining at 10k not 9000.. might be faulty.. thanks for sharing that important fact..
Alot of people hate'n on Harley or Metric....hell,just ride what ya got and enjoy it. Bikes are a freedom feeling ride with wind in your face and all your problems behind you!
Exactly, couldn't have said it better.
It's not what you ride....Its that you ride!! The rest should all be in fun..
Or with a full face.
You got that shit right.
Well said
Here is something that a lot of people don't know. All the Honda vtx motorcycles we're built in Marysville, Ohio.
absoluteqw I knew that. They’re all American built. Wish they woulda never stopped producing.
Is it possible to find a brand new?!
Absolutely. I used to tell that to my Harley friends, it still didn't make a difference to them. I'd also tell them that every bike on the planet was made from the same elements vomited from a long dead Star
@@bgself1 no, but I picked up a 2009 vtx1300 with 9000 miles on it pretty recently
@@cM-np3no 2009 u sure i have last year they where in production which is 2008
I had a 2003 VTX 1800C and it was a beast.
Gabby Hayes I have an 05 vtx1800r for sale 18,200 miles lmfao
Not sure why you're "lmfao"???
I traded an almost new Buel S3 for a brand new 1800c that was 20 years ago a few years later sold the vtx for a family oriented vehicle ands it is 1 of 3 i wish i still had. now older, wiser, and more mellow i cruise my 2003 American Iron Horse Texas Chopper for local and day runs, 2004 Custom Independence Freedom 240 for T to T around town, and My Babby 2009 Electra Glide Ultra Classic hands down the most comfortable bike i have ever owned or ridden in limited seafoam green with cream and a matching trailer...
Exactly why I will never sell my 2003 VTX 18. I'd rather look at it in my old age.
That’s what I love seeing, just riding your bike and have some good fun!!! No matter what brand!
Think I watched this 7 yeara ago, and it just never gets old.
Frank S I’ll take the vtx1800 over a Harley on any day!! I had the 1300 vtx, and it wasn’t a slouch either
Fine.
I ask him, "What size motor is that?"
He puffs up, "98 cubes."
"Aww, isn't that cute?"
He looked at me quizzically. "Well, that's about 1800 cc or so." he says.
"No," I said, "My Warrior is a 1670 cc. which is a 102. "
Then he quickly stammers, "Well, I shoulda waited another year when they came out with the 103."
So, making my point, decided that rather try to brag up the other better qualities of the Warrior, because he wouldn't care and wouldn't listen to anyway, quickly changed the subject to riding experiences such as close calls with idiot cagers, something we all can relate to.
I love my VTX. This dudes vtx looked dope af
Just got a 2002 VTX 1800c. It is my first bike. I am a big man. Around 300 lbs. And that bike MOVES with me on it. A lot of my friends w bikes say it’s a bit big for my first bike. But I will not need to upgrade to anything bigger for awhile.
This video helped me decide. I just bought an 08 F spec III. Can't wait to ride it.
+qafrost your in for a real treat it’s got a lot of torque
How do you know if its spec 3 or spec 2 etc?
People love it including myself so they continue on....
i agree i found cobra full exhaust slash cut with the center slugs punched out so you can see right threw them... made it sound so much better..
Agreed, VTX no doubt is a cool and quick bike but unfortunately they sound like a Briggs and Stratton lawnmower

@@alanspring8462 I'm thinking of even putting a Power Commander V and that will make it Rock!
I like how in the video he said the v rod can beat the vtx, but yet he never did 😂😂😂
How would it do against an old school Valk i have a '99 GL-1500? you talking about a sweet machine its super smooth & quick most people don't even think about that bike anymore because so many super muscle bikes have arrived on the scene like the Yamaha Raider, Sukuki M-109- Vulcan 2000 to name a few.
109 makes more power than the vtx
I love the VTX 1800, but I wish it sounded like the 1300. That’s the only box it doesn’t check for me.
The 1300 sounds way better
I love my vrod💪 1130cc moving around 1800cc motorcycles, that tell you alot but In the end of the day I like all motorcycles✌️
my dad has the 1800 C, it is a fast bike, smokes my 1300 but the 1300 has a better sound for sure. Loved this video.
I wish they would bring back the 1800, it is a fine machine for sure.
Haha, I bet the VTX guys really like this video! Good stuff, both bikes are awesome.
You know it! They love it! Please check out some of my other vs videos like my M109r vs Vrod
Both great bikes. I own the same VTX. I prefer the low end grunt. I can't give it full throttle till second gear. Sometimes I just start in second and jet to 60 in seconds. Not good in the twisties. 😎
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
Just a small correction on the info you gave about the VTX... the front brake is independent, the foot brake controls both front and rear
Thanks for the info
That Honda will destroy that Harley😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I love my Honda Fury.
Never have to work on a Honda 😋....
Hell yeah, great bikes and for the first time ever on a motorcycle youtube video, good music.
Joe D thanks for the compliment ✌️
Seriously. This video has everything going for it. Well done.
Thanks very much for your comment I appreciate it. Vtx is a torque monster that’s for sure!!!
Daaaaaaaang. I had a 14 Vrod Muscle and from the video I can tell that the VTX is a pretty quick bike. I dig it. Nice job and cool video.
I own that exact VTX 180F2. Thanks. I put a Cobra fuel control and some street sweepers on mine it's so loud
My 2003 VTX1800 eats Harley's for dinner...lol love Honda's...
So many great bikes out there now and so little time...to try 'em all.

I love the way you short shifted just to make the VTX seem competitive.
Not many people noticed that. Here’s a better video I did you’ll like this

THE VTX1800F2 can hold it's own. It's never going to beat a hiabusa but that's not what it's built for!
He loved is so much, he let it happen every time they raced. ;)
I owned one of those for a while, great bike, but it still sounded like a Honda,no matter what kind of pipes you put on it.
+George Edmonds yeah the sound quality not that good. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Both bike's are amazing honestly but I have to say Ive road a few 1800s and they always leave my self asking why I havent bought one yet.
Love the song choice possum kingdom is a great tune
That's a nice VTX... thanks for uploading

My VTX 2800S took a Vrod . Didn't plan on racing, it just kinda happened on a long day ride with some folks.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Enjoy that big Vtwin power👍
Both awesome and fast cruisers!
Always wanted a VTX 1800. Then I rode one and did not like the rev limiter coming on so soon (5,700 RPM). Went to a VMAX instead - 9,500 RPM redline and no limiter.
Yeah I got a 2020 Vmax now it has a rev limiter but not until over 10k rpm but I haven’t checked exactly I’m to busy looking ahead lol
hey I just watched your video and noticed you were riding in my old neighborhood. I just picked up a 2002 vtx 1800c with 44,000 miles and I'm doing a full overhaul on it. If you don't mind I might message you if I run into any issues I cant figure out.
Yep my vtx pulls like a dragster closest thing to my 900rr ive ever ridden
Great looking bike. It has a great design and styling to it.
+john gill Kz1000's Kerker headers Mikunis bring back fond memories. Thanks for watching and commenting
my vtx 1300c with BUB pipes give out that concussion exhaust note as I get compliments from Harley owners too on how quick mine is, my buddy has dyna and idling next to him we sound the same lol
+Live2RIDE83 yes the vtx1300 sounds great the vtx1800 ah...not so much in fact the vrod sounds better than vtx1800 and M109r but not as nice as vtx1300....you get the picture. Thanks for watching and commenting
hyper charger and vance and hine slash cuts on the 1800. great combo
The 1800's use and offset dual pin crank design, to smooth out harsh engine vibrations....which it does a tremendous job off. My 1800 is smooth as silk. The down side is you don't get that classic single pin crank exhaust note (like the 1300 and HD's)
. I've got a set of Vance and Hinds big shots on mine and I think it sounds damn good. A little "too good" even. Might have to install a set of their quiet baffles in them to keep the neighbours happy?
The 1300 is not a fast bike. At all.
@@daveparsley6849 Neither is anything build by Harley short of a V-Rod, or Screaming Eagle 110 and above.
wow that VTX has more pickup than i thought it would.....very nice!
+Hogan Longfellow very quick off the line. Thanks for watching and commenting
I got the same vtx 1800 f3 and I love it. It sounds sick with a set of Vance and Hines and with a power commander. Awesome bike. Same color. Cool vid
Coop427 yeah I agree but once I hit the throttle, the adrenaline kicks in and it’s all good!!
Both the 1800 and the V-Rod has enough torque to launch in 2nd gear and you talk about exhilaration.
The VRod is definitely a bike you want to start in first gear and ride out to the rev limiter in every gear.
front brake has nothing to do with the rear. back brake is linked with front only.
Disser man yes your right sorry about the error. Thanks for watching and commenting
Yep.
love the 2008 vtx 1800 i have 2006 vtx 1800c2 and red love my bike but still adding more detailed
Jus put a down payment on a 07 vtx 1800 f it's beautiful
I love the sound of the Honda it's faster than the Harley too

Awesome VTX..very Nice!!
+karl limbo thanks for watching and commenting 👍
black headlight stands out .
No replacement for displacement
Just because that rhymes doesn't mean it makes sense. Now nut up or shut up!
I have 03 vtx R 1800cc love it
I ride a supercharged vtx 1800 and I smoke every Harley I see
Vrods sound so good when they hit the limiter!!
I love My Vtx 1800 !! 💕 🥰
They were not racing ..if you want to see which is faster all u have to do is Google it ...v.rod is faster in quarter mile ! Its lighter and revs higher
Thanks for watching and commenting I appreciate it my friend 👍
That was awesome! That's the motor Honda should've put in the fury and backed it up with a six speed!
VicJackpotRider yeah he has both a Fury the Vtx1800 and his wife a interstate vtx1300. Thanks for watching and commenting bro 👍
Have fun getting your bike out of the snow ❄️
Hell no! I gave up!! Wasn't worth putting it through a pond with all the snow melting in the back yard. It took me and my son to get it back in my garage.
The Fury is garbage compared to the entire VTX line
Rocking the toddies nice man
Ive had both these bikes..Vrod just looks alot better to me..sold my 2012 muscle..Selling my 2016 883 iron and gonna get another Vrod muscle..Still ride the hell out of my 2015 Z1000...
+lexi terrill nice group of bikes. Thanks for watching and commenting
"You gotta be in the right gear to beat that"
Ok buddy 😂
Why not just start with first.Lol..everyone else does...lol...
Oh you pulled away because I had my vtx clutch pulled in for half a block coasting
Never happen
You should show like vrod kick ass this vtx rather than hold back but whatever 👍🏻
I'm sorry but the guy on the 109 had no freakin clue what he was doing. I don't know about the vrod but I know that bike was not being riden to its potential.
Way to go Honda 💪👏👍
Great looking bike. I was in two minds whether to buy the M109R or the Honda Fury. I really liked the look of the Honda, but finally decided on the Suzuki. Watch that rev-limiter!
Jagged Lines vtx1800f is a nice bike but I'd take the m109r or V Rod first
Jagged Lines great choice...
The fury is slow my old 1100sabre with straight pipes walked away from it
He short shifted the hell outta the vrod.. considering they outrun Busa on the strip...
Actually a Vrod destroyer should. That is a purpose built drag bike about $40k at that time. So there’s one production Vrod that could.
You need a turbo to beat a ZX14r💪
you were short shifting the vrod it makes most of its torque above 4000 rpm those bikes were designed to be rung out brother great video keep it up
Your the first guy that noticed that!!! Hint I gotta keep it interesting 😁 If you noticed I did say my bike will beat it but you gotta rev it up. Thanks for watching and commenting my friend
no problem bro i work for a Harley dealer so I ride a lot of bikes lol I may have done a few pulls on a vrod
+H4H motovlogs figures..I knew you were an expert rider to notice that ✌️
never been on a vtx but the vrod is a fast bike! my 06 victory hammer can't touch it
I ride and have broken my fair share of rules in my day. Banging out gears in a residential neighborhood (kids and pets potentially entering roadway) is pretty disrespectful as an adult. This gives bike rides a bad rap.
V-rod по веселее обороты набирает. Возможно из -за меньшего объёма двигателя.
Two very nice bikes! Like them both. Anyone know what the tail section was on that VTX? Nice looking!
It’s stock. That’s the 1800F. It has a different rear fender and gauge layout then the regular VTX.
Sorry brother, it wont matter what gear your in to win over that VTX. Power is Power!!! But, both are good cruisers.
You should see my vtx retro red candy with all chrome polished alloys and white walls super chromed head to toe
test drive a 2012 or newer rocket three.
I just love 2 wheels... IDC who'd name is on the tank
Sweet VTX!! I'm wondering why Honda ended its reign a few years ago and decided that 1300cc's was enough. Although the VTX is SUPER heavy, it was a beast among V-Twins...and still is!
Thanks for watching and commenting Mike. Still waiting for John the Fury guy to let me borrow his bike to do a quick review. ✌️
+Paulk Master hurry with that Fury review! I'm in buyer mod! Thanks
Oh the 1300 looked like the R/s model like I have, the original C model never came out in a 1300. Also they made the 1300 fury, ugh.
Nice vid man. Which camera are you using?
+Jim Kalfakis GoPro hero3+black edition I have a Hero5black but audio not as good as the 3. Thanks for your support. Thanks for watching and commenting
Always wondering why the production of VTX was stopped. After you ride a Honda VTX you will fall in love with it. The government protecting the American brand. Is ok.
As my girlfriend would say... "Boys behaving Badly!" "Is there any other way to act?" I say!
I have a 2007 1800 vtx-R with a power command 5. It's so throaty and has beat most HD all the way thru. I have nothing against HD. I just bought my bike first.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Please watch my latest video M109R vs Vrod Muscle ruclips.net/video/5JpqG0OPADg/видео.html
Tell me what you think.
Thanks
Much love to harley keep America great. But love my VTX
Lol 63% of harleys production is ib china. The vtx were manufactured in ohio. You my good sir are ass backwards
@@alanhoy5347 mehh its ok. It is what it is
Where are you getting this info? 63% of Harley’s built in China? Are you talking about parts? Are you saying the frame the engine the forks the tires that say Harley Davidson right on them the Brembo brakes etc.. are made in China? Tell me exactly what parts are you talking about that are made in China ?
@@paulkmaster3231 63% of harley is manufactured in china. Look it up for your self
Alan Hoy no I don’t see it. What parts exactly the engines frames tires what? Fake news?
Honda rules. Higher engineering
+Tara Jack Arias Honda makes great bikes I own 2. Harley makes great bikes I own 2.
i choose a Dyna over any metric chopper
What about a soft tail or glide?
@@Bratox187 Its ok, some people are happy to settle for less.
@@bigpapa8152 dont get me wrong man, i absolute love this bikes to
Combined braking is only on the foot pedal
Yes your right. Thank you for watching and commenting
The v rod comes alive in the high rpm!!
as a vrod owner.. you didnt even pass 6000 rpm where you have another 4000 to go which is the power peak of the vrod.. id say you left the ‘handbrake’ on for friend sake..
Thanks for watching and commenting. Yes you are 100% correct. Not many people catch on that I’m not 100% throttle I’m holding back. I even say in the video I can beat his bike. Anyways please watch my newer video I think you’ll be happier with me. ruclips.net/video/5JpqG0OPADg/видео.html
It’s Vrod vs M109r
Some Dude oh sorry for the misquote of the figures mann.. i rode a vrod for more than 5 years.. all i see redlining at 10k not 9000.. might be faulty.. thanks for sharing that important fact..
It didnt sound that great but I admit I did like picking on Harleys!
+George Edmonds lol I bet you did. Thanks for commenting
