What a gentle soul you are Emma. I am a beginner watercolorist and your video was so non intimidating and encouraging and has made me feel like I can make small steps forward. I found the sniffles quite charming made me feel like you were here at my dining room table in Sydney explaining things to me. Well done. Im going to watch all your videos and practice. Thank you for sharing. xxx
Hi, I just want to say thank you for this tutorial. It was the perfect Christmas gift for my grandmother as poppies are one of her favorite flowers. So again thank you.
Videos like this encourage me to actually try w/c'ing ... Instead of just doing what I've done so far: watch tons of posts & tutorials on RUclips & buy all the supplies I need to get started. Thanks for the step-by-step walk thru, making me certain of 2 things: my first attempt won't be as good as what i just witnessed, and I can start (with the assumption I'll most likely get better with practice/eventually make MY w/c creations instead of just copying someone else's steps). Thanks for motivating me to Just Do It. ;-)
I called my stepfather Poppy And listening to your tutorial and creating my own today was therapeutic to my soul. Today was the 12th anniversary of his passing
Thank you Emma we cannot take for granted you and many others who share their art and abilities to the public. It is a lot of work and only passion for what you do is the reason I believe you do it. Thanks again and please try to ignore the negative comments. My daughter thought me “ if you do not have anything nice to say is better to not say anything”. Wise words
I love your videos so much. I have been afraid of water colour all my life (I’ve always painted in oil or acrylics). Now I am not afraid anymore. Thank You!❤
Greetings Emma Jane, I absolutely love your channel content!! ❤ I am subscriber- you are confident and relaxed when painting these poppies and that shows in the painting! I love ALL the amazing varieties and colors in the poppy flower and the delicate paper mache petals- GORGEOUS flowers, among my favorites. Thank you for your channel, Emma Jane
Thank you for sharing these videos! You are very encouraging and helpful, and you Do Not need to apologize for sniffles. As someone said, we all have that sometimes. And what a bright spot, when you share a few moments of your son with us. You are a great Mom I can tell. He always brings a smile to my face as do my grandchildren 3 yr and 1 yr old.
I know this video is almost a year old... But I've just discovered your channel and have been binge watching EVERYTHING on it! Looooove you and your painting style and your teaching style!! You are so inspiring, Emma! These poppies are so cool... They look like pressed flowers 😍
I just found her too! We weren’t “locked away” when she did this! Lol i want to trydoing this. Im doing a wizard of oz themed journal for my mom. How perfect would this be? 🥰
Trankil you for sharing your knowledge and bless you for finding time for others while dealing with a baby. Good for you and a wholehearted thank you. It’s been a great Help. I haven’t painted since my A level art and now I’ve just retired so I desperately need to refresh my knowledge and your video has been great
I love watching you paint. It's like magic. I like to watch your video all the way through at least once before I try it out. I can't wait to try these poppies out tomorrow!
I do apologize for all of the sniffing in this and other videos. It was a very long winter and to be honest, I didn’t even notice during editing. I edit all my videos while taking care of my 1 year old son and I try my best to get all of these videos out for you weekly. I’m trying my best to be a full time mom while sharing my watercolour passion with you. Thank you to the people who have KINDLY pointed this out to me. To the others who have decided to point this out in an unkind way, think twice before you type. I’m just trying to create a positive and creative space for people to feel free of judgement and gain confidence. I suggest you try and do the same. So much love to all of the positive people with their words of love and kindness.
Emma Lefebvre Ridiculous that anyone would point this out. Some people have too much time on their hands! Love your videos and hope you feel better...good for you doing all of this and taking care of your baby!
As a new subscriber I did notice the sniffles - no problem for me! I was concerned you were suffering allergies and wished you well. Love your stuff - keep it coming - thanks!
You are so very talented and expressive. Try not to pay attention to those people. I love your videos and hope that you can continue to make them. I love seeing your son as he is growing. He is so cute. Take the time you need for yourself. But know that we love watching and learning from you.
Oh my gosh I noticed the sniffling but gee whiz people sniffle. Its life. I might be used to it since my hubby sniffles all day long. Lol anywho, I have never painted anything. I'm getting supplies slowly and watching anyone who offers their wonderful talent online. I want to learn. I'm 71 yrs of age. I hope it's not too late for me to pick up painting with watercolors. My artistic granddaughter says it's the hardest to do. And she can paint and draw ,like a pro. I love your work. You explain with simple instructions. I will be picking up a brush as soon as I get my paints. If I do well and I love this I will indulge in more expensive items. Thank you for helping us beginners to learn, to understand and to feel the beauty in painting. I will continue to watch and learn with you even if your sniffles dont get better. Although I do hope if its allergies something can help you as they are very much a pain to live with.
Hi Marlene, it’s never too late to do something you’re interested in. One suggestion as you try your hand at watercolor...I had the hardest time and got frustrated. I so wanted to like watercolor painting. I kept at it and now I absolutely love love love it. We need sweet, kind teachers like Emma to help us along our journey. Be kind to yourself as you learn sweetie.
Thank you Emma for taking the time out of your crazy busy day to share your knowledge and passion with us. I truly appreciate that you are here. I’ve painted many cards after watching your tutorials. You’re voice and demeanor and teaching style are perfect. Thank you sweetheart!
Emma, again thank you for a wonderful tutorial!! Don't listen to those negative people! I love your poppy painting, and am excited to try this along with you. I think its amazing how you can continue to provide videos and take care of a 1 yr old!! Thank you again. Blessings to you and yours.
I love the way you do layered flowers, Emma! These poppies are beautiful. I’m going to keep trying until mine turn out as nice as yours. I don’t mind your sniffles, I’m just grateful you are willing and able to share your techniques here. Thank you!
I love poppies and I love how these give them some dimension and can even softly shift colors with those layers. Just so beautiful! Thank you so much!!!!
I am new to watercolour and I've been watching several flower videos and this one so far is my favorite because I found it the easiest and had great results. Thank you Emma! I enjoy your videos.
I pulled out my watercolors two months ago when I realized I was going to be spending more time at home. 😉. I’m so happy to have found your channel! I especially love these ethereal flowers. They’re gorgeous! You have a relaxed, positive teaching style. Thank you! ❤️
I love poppies! These are so beautiful, Emma. Thanks for the tutorial. The way you make the petals with the light wash really sets the tone for the whole look. I tend to have too much paint and use too small of brush. Your style of teaching makes painting accessible. Thank you!
I don’t mind the sniffing at all, I have the sniffles too. I am loving these poppies. Hope I can find the rest of video tomorrow because I’m just figuring out watercolors and utube. Thanks so much for sharing. 👏🏼👍🏽👍🏽
Gorgeous poppies!!! I love your style of teaching...you're voice is very relaxing to listen to and you take the time to give tips along the way. Thank you for your time and sharing your talent.
Another beautiful video to try! I love your teachings and always enjoy seeing you precious son! Thank you for sharing not only your lovely talent, but also your family! Makes me feel like we are friends!
It looks beautifully and I learned a lot. I’m a beginner and so every single brushstroke is of greatest importance to me. It’s nice to listen to you. You have a really lovely way to explain and guide. Thank you very much.
Emma, this was perfect! I’ve struggled with flowers and something about your tutorial just clicked. Drying before creating the overlapping petals was an a-ha moment. Thanks for the detailed explanation.
Great video. I am a 2 week in beginner and I found this really well documented. I need to have a video that speaks to you like I am almost having a conversation. Great job! This is on my list if to do’s later. Many thanks. 👍
Hi Emma. I have just started watercolour which is the first time ever trying to paint something. I really really like your videos! I love your style and peaceful approach. So looking forward to many more videos and wishing you all the best.
It all comes down to doing as you have done...1. Good Watercolor Paper. 2. Good Watercolor Paints. 3. Good Watercolor Brushes... 3 steps to the road for painting Well!
Enjoyed watching you paint poppies, my favourite flower. I love the transparency of each petal and I will certainly try this out. Thank you for this lovely explanation on how to paint this flower.
I love your layered poppies and your color choice. It looks so fun I think I'll give it a try. I'm new with watercolors and everything looks easy til I actually do it. Keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks for the great video.
I usually watch your videos whilst having lunch and they are just so beautiful, and relaxing, and inspiring. I haven't tried yet many of them, but I do feel that just by observing how you move the brush and manage the water I'm learning more about the watercolour technique. Thank you
Love you’re video’s and i really hate the negative comments about sniffling. You are Doing Great, please don’t Change. Be who you are! A wonderful mom and artist 👍🏼👍🏼 Thanks!
Love all your videos! And thank you for sharing your precious time with us during your son's nap. I was a stay at home mom too (my boys are grown now).
I don’t know why and would leave a negative comment to you, Emma. I learned more today from 3 of r videos than 2 other courses that I purchased. R teaching style makes it so easy to understand-and follow. Thank you for sharing your talent!
Omigosh. These are beautiful and you make it look so easy. I’m new to watercolor and will give this a go. Thank you so much for all of your wonderful tutorials.
Beautiful! I love watching you paint your pastel florals. I just cannot get the "hang" of painting with that much water. I'm more of a direct paint to paper guy! Lol! But I keep trying! Thanks for your videos. Missed seeing your little guy in this one!!
Your poppies look very realistic, thank you for the tips and for sharing. I'll give this a go. I like the way you have a hair band on your wrist, I do that too
Beautiful poppies. Thank you for your tutorial. If I could make one comment the leaves could be painted to resemble the plant. Just wanting to help towards perfection. I appreciate art doesn’t have to be realistic. This was really helpful in teaching me about the skills needed to use watercolour.
I watch many tutorials! You are talented in your presentation! Ignore the negative response and concentrate on the positive feed back!! I watch a tutorial and the persons voice irritates me BUT she is good and appreciated for who she is!
I am new to watercolor and especially appreciate your experiments with different paper etc. Led me to doing same thing with two of my brushes. Realized that brush #1 was more fun to paint with but brush #2 dried to a nicer end product. Love your style. So far my paintings are far from looking like yours but learning a lot. Keep it up

Thank you very much for teaching this layering technique so clearly - I've been wondering for ages how it's done. The result is absolutely gorgeous, really ethereal.

These poppies are so lovely and tranparent, and you show so well and simply how you do it, thank you. I really appreciate that. I just want to say to you: have another look at the leaves of poppies; they have a very particular shape, serrated and long. Not meant as criticism, just my gift back to you.
I love the poppies. I’m still so new to watercolors and I hope that maybe I will be able to do these, someday. Thanks for your tutorials.
