Hi. I’m watching this again to refresh my memory. I did it a while ago and made it into a card for my sister. Thank you for doing tuts that are doable for us ordinary folk. I especially appreciate all your efforts during lockdown. Painting and jigsaws are keeping an old lady from going completely gagaxx
Emma. I am so enjoying your daily watercolour videos. You are refreshing to watch and anyone can paint along with you no matter what level they are at in their journey. 💜
I was thinking of sending a relitive who's in hospital a card and was looking for a subject when I spotted your beautiful tutorial, thank you search over x ☺
I LOVE watching your videos! I attempted your gorgeous poppy landscape, and it was a hot mess....but I had a blast! Thank you so much for sharing your tutorials! It's wonderful to learn from you, and especially during this weird time in the world...you bring such a calming, enjoyable distraction! Thank you!
Another great video Emma. 😀 I think it's really important to note that when doing this wet on wet technique you REALLY need a good paper like Arches or anything that is 100% cotton. I was trying to paint your abstract poppies field and I kept having to start over. I realized that part of my problem was that I did not have a good quality watercolor paper to take all the layers.
Every time I watch one of your videos I feel I’ve learned so much. Putting the sun in the background is awesome. I have always struggled with light source, and never knew how to create it coming from the background. Thank you so much. I can’t wait to try this. Linda from Dallas, PA.
I really like this! The dimensionality is very interesting to look at. I am going to try one using Cerulean to give more contrast between the lavender and the sky and maybe blot out a couple of clouds. What fun! Thanks so much for this super idea!
Perfect, simple, pretty little watercolour. I love to do quick refresher projects like this after I've done something more complex that's taken me days. I need something that I can do in half an hour or so to give me back my painting mojo sometimes. This lavender tutorial is definitely one I will try. Thank you, Emma.
And WOW! I'm so not a purple fan, but this was fun & pretty! Your sun color(s) managed to clearly demonstrate the eye-catching ability of true light in this painting. Amazing, Emma. I honest to God feel like my supplies are on a different planet than yours.
Hi Emma, wow - I learned so much tonight from your painting in layers. And Lavender being one of my favorite, I can't wait to jump in and give it a go. Thanks so much for sharing. You're so inspiring!
Watched a few videos and now subscribed. I really like this one. Has a real 3D effect to it.. I’m growing lavender here in my retirement town. It’s popular here as it survives the high desert winter cold as well as very hot summers of southern calif! I took art for 6 years in high school and middle school but the teacher i had for 3 years in middle school although teaching pen and ink, other mediums never really taught us how to really do water color. She had us use white and black tempera paint...cheap acrylic in those days but very bad paint to mix with water colors to get a thicker paint. I guess imitating better artist type acrylics? But it was awful, not really water color, not good enough for fill in and layering. I only ended up preferring pencil and paper drawing. Glad to see your simple creations for us to start back at the beginning!
This is just beautiful! I can't wait to give it a try. I really admire your talent, both for painting and your relaxed but informative teaching style. Thank you so much for your excellent videos!
Hey Emma! I love your videos and tutorials! I made this painting and it turned out to be so beautiful! 😁 Your instructions are so easy and it was so much fun! And I love to see your little baby in your videos too! 😀 Lots of love to you and your family! 😙❤
Beautiful! I followed along on Strathmore 400. It doesn't look near as good. The wash was tricky but all in all I'm happy I tried and it still looks pretty. Thanks Emma.
Thank you for this tutorial. Working on improving my artistic skills from stick people drawings to water coloring. It was easy to follow along your tutorial. I'm happy with my result, considering where I'm starting from. Thanks for all your insights. I'll get there, one experiment at a time.
I love this look, I did the Forest and will try this one! Your sun showing thru is amazing - I tried twice and have not conquered that technique ... yet! Thank you Emma!
OMG I LOVE THIS, it turned out so pretty!!!!!!!! Also wanted to let you know I enjoy the video speed and your awesome tips along the way, really helpful!!! Thanks for sharing :)
For sevl reasons I've taken, I hope, a temporary break from baking and decorating lately. I'm going to try watercolor pencils as a new creative outlet. Thank you Emma! I enjoy your videos immensely and have subscribed!
New subscriber! I love your videos. So relaxing watching you paint and dreaming of myself being able to do the same thing!:) Thank you for sharing and teaching!
Hi Emma. You are by far my favorite teacher on YT. I love how organized you are and your teaching methods...step by step and clear. I know that you mentioned "painters tape" would you be able to share which brand? I have been told so many things about which tape is best...now I am confused. Thank you so much for everything! Sharon.
Painters tape as in those who paint walls. Way less sticky than masking tape. So the edge stayed sharpe when painting around wood molding and doesnt drag paint off the drywall you just painted also. Blue was old school. Now frog tape which is green and think this one is popular. You want minimal stickiness to get it off the paper or what every object you are painting but enough stick to seal it.
So pretty... I'd appreciate it if you could give the size of the wc paper.. I know it's more about the technique vs. size. But just wondering.. Again I love the tech. The sky and sun really made a difference and love the far away look and fuzzy and close up ones sharper. Great depth.. Thanks so much for your videos.
I dunno if yall like yoga but if you do Emma’s personality and talking style and humour is literally like Yoga with Adriene! You’re teh Adriene of watercolor, loved that 😂
Beautiful ! Love your roses, did you grow them? I have a few, just love their smell,it’s so pretty. Your work is so beautiful.love watching you, some day, maybe I will do something nice, thanks for sharing,😊💕 love to the baby.
