I believe the gvwr is not the vehicle weight. It’s what the vehicle is allowed to weigh fully loaded down. You need the curb weight to get the vehicle weight. So you should be able to haul more weight on your trailer than what the gvwr of the vehicles total out to be.
I was curious about that as well but on must bol's / dispatch contracts, shippers list the vehicles weight going off the gvwr like I did in this video . I've matched it up from invoices. I know Curb weight can be calculated by taking the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) and subtracting the vehicle payload or passenger/cargo capacity from GVWR. but I can never find the payload info so I just use the GVWR, I've heard its usually a 500-800 lbs difference anyway but I'll have to research that more to confirm.

Also want to mention as i been told but not 100% sure that if your truck and trailer gvwr adds up together over 26,001 pounds you are required to have a class A cdl to even be allowed to drive that set up even if the trailer has no cars/load on it. Is that correct?

I just got my Trailer gooseneck 35ft Kaufman car Trailer… and I went to school for my Class A didn’t finish had issues with my last minute deadline to test, I gave up will go back…. Meanwhile starting up with non CDL… finding this a 3am! Before my start up! My nephew has a towing business and he recommended those 3 point straps! And I also bought a wedge trailer, I’m gonna raffle it up also, will do a RUclips channel soon, I’m in Southern California… thank you for your info 🙏🏼🙏🏼
ok ok and yeah if you can, go back and test for your cdl . its so beneficial to have when you're car hauling so that you don't have to limit your loads or worry about what weight you're hauling because that's the #1 thing D.O.T will fine you for is being over weight non cdl . i wish you the best of luck on your journey ✊🏾

I back them on sometimes too. its just easier to get them off when its the first vehicle on the trailer and sometimes its about weight distribution.

Thanks i appreciate that, and yes you can rent trailers, i seen some people on Facebook market place offering their trailers for rent also companies that sell trailers sometimes offer rental options. I would google trailer companies and look into it .

It Varies , but could cost you between $3-$5000. Thats getting all your dot registration and insurance.
Is it not true as a non cdl hotshot. The truck and trailer must be under 65 feet front to rear combined?
I been following yo content I drive semi’s but want to go into business myself I have a 2015 danali I was thking about trading in for a 2008 ford f450 n jus lease me a trailer to get started any tips for me, also I follow your car content as well I also have a Camaro and a box Chevy

Start doing your research now . Learn how load boards work or look into dispatch services and don't over think it. If this is something you want to do , GO FOR IT and be dedicated.

I always google curb weight for vehicles… just google year model specs.
True , because the gvwr isn't the exact weight its usually close but googling the curb weight is the best way. I should've meantioned that in the video.

What type of fire extinguisher dot requires for hotshot
just a standard Mobile fire extinguisher that you can buy for semi or tow trucks

no because the heaviest is right over the axles , the weight of the truck and the weight from the heaviest car balances the load . had I put the lite car last it would have had a sloppy ride
First of all you have to have a 100.000 dollar truck and trailer to even think about it.or even more sounds easy though

I got a fat ticket for hauling my 40ft horse trailer and had to get a cdl just to be able to haul my personal horses
Remember its about the weight. So that means the trooper/ dot must of scaled you and your load was over 26,000 lbs . I can only imagine what horses weigh 😫. But that's why its important to know the weight of what you're hauling because d.o.t dont care if you know the laws or not
@EprofitdetroitTheProcess my trailer gvwr, was 22k, and my truck is 14k gvwr, so the combination was 36k combined only scaled out at 21k but because the gvwr of the truck and trailer was over 26k

Oh ok yeah i see what you're saying. Wow , so was the fine/ticket you got for not having a cdl or for being over weight? Because i know when you have a cdl and scale over weight per axle thats a whole different ball game . Fines are HIGH !!!
@EprofitdetroitTheProcess it was in oregon and $300 and some fees lots of horse owners had to sell the big trailers with living quarters or get cdl there cracking down on it

Dont know where you 26001 law is texas have that weight you be red tag a unloading something off and your truck can only weigh some much pre axle not just 26000 is gvw look laws what it say be fore get shut down and tickets for over weight
