100% recommend breaks from music as well. Even just a few days makes a difference. It’s a shame if music becomes just another source of cheap dopamine for anyone since music can also be part of so much more. It can strengthen and tie into memories, it can make us feel various emotions and even get us through difficult times or challenges.
crazy how i've been thinking about doing this and this video shows up. Music for me can be a very dissociating experience. I put on music as soon as I wake up and I can't even remember moments where I don't listen to it. It's totally disconnected me from the world. This morning I decided not to listen to music first thing and in the shower I realized how much calmer and more grounded I feel. For anyone struggling with dpdr/anxiety I highly recommend this detox!
I almost never listen to music in my house. While driving, I will listen to a very eclectic mix of MP3s of my own choosing from a thumb drive. Forget radio. It's not even in English here where I live. I'm a regular churchgoer, and of course there's music there. Otherwise, I like my peace and quiet.
I've done the opposite -- stopped listening for about 10 years. And I have a long history with it. I think I suffered without it and have to now make a conscious effort to listen. It is beneficial and I should have been listening more the past few years.
You certainly seem to enjoy inflicting unnecessary punishment on yourself in a very theatrical manner. Living as a nun doesn't give you superpowers. Life is short, you should enjoy every aspect of it while you can.
I don't see it as a punishment at all. In fact depriving oneself of instant pleasures for a time is one of the best ways to gain long-term fulfillment and truly enjoy life. Don't believe me? Check out my other channel linked in the description. I have plenty of fun on there. Have a great day and enjoy life!

it's good to detox. I did something similar where I'd listen to music on the weekends only.

Music can definitely be healing for sure. I don't plan to cut it out forever. Balance is key
