I looked at the title of the video and thought, "why would someone do that, music is beautiful" but i get it now. I never actually thought about it from this perspective. having a form of media playing during any dull task has become such a habit, it's engraved into me. but you're right. The reason i was so creative and innovative as a child was because i had to fill the silence on my own, i've been asking myself were that spontaneous creativity went over the years now that i'm studying art. I think i figured it out now, thank you :) i'm going to tune into the world more from now on ;p

@@woopazipper The Arabic Oud is played throughout the Islamic world. It also has many derivatives played in the Islamic world. As well, it spread through Asia and Europe as the Lute and has become the forefather of most stringed instruments in the world today. In Spain it became the Vihuela, which led to the Classical and Flamenco guitar. Islam can take credit for spreading stringed instruments around the entire world, but ironically, now Islam forbids music? It's more likely that fanatic fundamentalists such as the Taliban forbid music, but not the entire Islamic world.

We don't take Islam through arab culture, we take Islam from the quran and sunnah of our prophet Muhammad ﷺ, which forbids music. I have cut back on music A LOT. Im huge into techno and happy hardcore dnbtrancebreaksetcetc. Lots of very energizing music. I have to be careful when I choose to listen to it because it can get me all pumped up and jumpy when I need to, at that time, be chill and relaxed.
I only really listen to music before I go workout now.

    • @milk__teee
      @milk__teee 10 месяцев назад +10

I’d say I’m not afraid to be alone with my thoughts since I do that when I don’t have music.
But I feel rather bored, idk, I love music and basically blasting it through my brains. But I’m not listening to music because I’m scared to be a lone with my thoughts. I see this comment a lot, and I feel like most people aren’t afraid to be alone in silence, but it’s just boring. Rosie ally when you can listen to your favourite music.
I mean sometimes I’ll just sit there with no music, maybe not for very long, but I don’t put my headphones on because I can’t be alone by myself.
And I also understand that listening to music probably isn’t that good for you tbh. I mean I had like 167,000 minutes in 2020 on Spotify. And it’s been decreasing ever since then to like 55,000 minutes now, which is a huge decrease. -and even then each day I put on a 15 minutes timer on the Spotify sleep timer, so it’s a decent amount less.
Anyways, it’s not about being afraid, I think it’s about boredom and usually people being overstimulated, or getting used to being overstimulated.

@@RozaMcdad I’ve got permanent tinnitus, meaning that it’s always there. Although, I think that this could be a misunderstanding about it, it varies a lot. For example, when I woke up yesterday it was really loud, a lot more than usual. Today, however, it was pretty normal. Another thing about that I don’t think people understand, is that sometimes (pretty randomly), another, higher, louder pitch is added for a few minutes.
The best thing about it is that you don’t really have to focus on tuning it out, as if I’m hearing a noise that’s louder than my tinnitus, then I have to focus to notice it. However, in those quiet moments, like trying to sleep or those same quiet drives, it’s pretty noticeable. Protect your ears!

That's beautiful! I wouldn't say I listen to extreme amounts of music, like compared to musicians it's definitely less, but i also listen more than the regular person. It just sets the mood very well for whatever i'm doing. But I also realise that sometimes I definitely listen to too much of it. I try to fill in every gap with some sort of an energy. I made this video to reflect that idea and it's actually really cool to see that a lot of people enjoy the mundane sounds of every life, the nature, environments, city and everything else

Music addiction is a real thing because it's like a drug, we use it to escape the pressures of our realities instead of facing them. I've realized that music was a huge part in my mental health, not in helping it but making it worse when I thought it was helping because it was serving as an escape for me so now I cut off all that music and just listen to things that bring me peace and a realistic happiness. Been listening to a lot of songs about God lately. There's this song I really like because it's like the artist is having a real talk with God in a sad moment and there's so much hope in it that it actually uplifts me. It's called Where I'm Gonna Be by Mia Rio. She's not a big artist yet but totally worth it.

I would constantly have lyrics in my head before but that’s pushing me away from the purpose of existence which is to worship God. Now instead I have clearer and more creative thoughts and am in general more grateful about simply existing. You are just addicted with it
Just like video games don't make you pray in time
And in the last blaming the video games.
Again: I'm not saying this because I want you to get alot with music

This year, I listened to a little more music, reframed, still reframing… and I think it’s working, I mostly listen to jazz or music in languages I don’t understand so that I am only focused on the beats. Aside from being a source of entertainment, one of the major things that drove me to reduce my music listening time or change the kind of music i listen to was the fact that media influences us. In all its subtleties, its beauty, its impressions, and the companionship it renders, there lay its impressions that mostly go unnoticed. They stay and even modulate how our thought process works, or what we think about at all. All that for subsiding loneliness, it rather heightens a lot of other emotions unnecessarily at times.
As for me, who believes in greater control on what I'm doing and thinking about so as to enhance my productivity, my thoughts play a major role. I'd rather be cerebral mostly than being swept by emotions. What we consume does have lasting effects, not only affecting our mood but also us as a person, dictating my way in life, which comes off as manipulative to me. Not all are self-aware to understand why media is just not ideal for excessive consumption, so I'm glad that folks like you bring content like this forward.
It does make a difference, I just hope people listen to themselves and what's good for them more than relying on their habits driven by the masses.

I somewhat agree with you...but to be honest, when I feel sad or lonely...and then I listen to music that reminds me of my childhood...or music whose words accurately describe my feelings...I feel a lot better! . Music creates memories for us. And reminds us of people. It expresses feelings and emotions more than anything else. I agree with you that I should not wear headphones all the time. • @NinjaNeet

I came back to this video months after first watching it to posit something.
A problem I and many other Gen Z members have had is losing our love for reading. I personally would regularly read nearly a thousand pages of something per week in middle school. I was almost always reading something new. The process of starting and finishing a lengthy fantasy novel would fill me with an enriching wave of catharsis the moment I flipped the final page.
As I got older and started gaining access to shinier forms of entertainment like smartphones, Computers, and game consoles, books started to lose their alure. As I grew to an age when I could spend all my time with screens and music and noise, I forgot books entirely and chose to just do that. For over five years I nearly constantly had some type of noise in the background be it music or a show I've seen a dozen times. I would decide which adult swim cartoon I was gonna put on before I went to bed because I even grew to need it in my sleep.
I've somewhat recently been getting back into reading again, this year I've been warming up by reading something I know and love and reading something new in an alternating patten. But for the first few books while I did it I would have Futurama or Family Guy or something playing in the same room. It wouldn't really be much of a distraction, it only very occasionally pulled my attention away from my book. The majority of the attention was still on the book. But there was still something missing, something that I came to miss from the reading experience I remembered as a child.
I went to revisit Eragon after reading The Alchemist for the first time. I must have read it half a dozen times in my life, the rest of the series maybe three times. I thought back to how much it influenced 12 year old me, thought about how awesome it felt to first read it when it was the newest, freshest, SHINIEST thing in my life. The writing has been critiqued by many and for decent reason, it's somewhat simple and easy to read and takes common tropes from many existing series. But I think it's great, even if it's technically considered middle school reading level despite the author trying his best to throw in overly big and lesser known words where they don't fit.
I thought about WHY it had been so special to me again, and realized it was because at one time it was all I had. I had been struggling to lose myself in a book's world more so than ever simply because all the other things around me were constantly pulling me out.
One weekend I hit the power button on my TV and sat down to read in silence. Not since I was forced to as a kid had I ever just read a book in complete silence. For the first time in years I could simply just flow along without it feeling forced. What had grown to become a chore had once again become something fresh and shiny again. I found myself looking forward to when I'll have another few minutes to read Eragon. And when I finished, instead of feeling relieved it was over I wanted to pick up another book. I felt an Intense wave of nostalgia for when I wasn't being bombarded by short term stimulation 24/7.
I would compare it to eating a nice meal when you're actually hungry versus after you've been snacking all day. It won't be as enriching of an experience to your mind, it will only serve as extra bloat on the information in your brain.
My appetite for mental stimulation has been stoked again, for once in a long time I'm actually hungry for good media off all kinds.

I dont really listen to music/songs while i am working, studying or doing a boring task i usually do it in silence but i listen to music when i am stressed or when i want to calm down and it helps. Its true silence really makes you focus you get lost in your own thoughts ex: i was at the beach i just sat there in silence and watched the waves move back and forth i was thinking if i could ever capture the feel and look of the water if a drew it or painted it. Also i wanted to add that in ghibli studio movies u can tell that Hayou Miyazaki uses silence to his advantage he doesnt just fill up the scenes with music he makes perfect use of the sound and illustrates the charcters so naturally to the point where u can feel the sun the wind the water as if u are there inside the movie which what makes it incredibly different than all the other movies i ever watched i always wondered why when i watch one of his movies i get a warm fuzzy happy childish feeling i really love his movies there incredibly beautiful sorry for the rant hehe💜😁

Boredome is something that humans try to avoid so adementely that we forgot it has a purpose. We are meant to consume, to create, and to think. We are NOT just made to consume. I deleted social media from my phone a few weeks ago and the sense of joy I can get from such little things is so refreshing. This is how things were when I was a kid! You can just sit down with a book, or a mundane task, or the preparation or enjoyment of a meal.
Its much nicer to live one's life than trying to distract yourself from it constantly. You might have a life that you might WANT to be distracted from, but remember those distractions only stop you from making your situation better in the first place. As a Muslim, Islam forbids listening to songs that contain music and contain bad lyrics because they only distract the heart. They control our feelings freely. If you listen to a sad song, you suddenly start thinking about all the bad events that happened to you in your life. Then you listen to an enthusiastic song and feel that you are full of energy and you will accomplish everything you have. Now, then you listen to meaningless songs that only contain insults or bad scenes, and I don’t know why they listen to them. Actually, everything that Islam forbids is harmful. It is forbidden for us to eat pork. There are many studies that have proven that it is actually bad. How can I eat the meat of an animal that feeds on waste, and also Alcohol is forbidden. It only kills the mind. How many accidents or misfortunes happen just because a person was not conscious. Islam also forbids suicide. It also forbids adultery and touching the opposite sex or mingling with them. Tattooing is also forbidden. Why would I change the way my Lord created me when He created me already beautiful? And why would I distort my beautiful body? I feel... Truly proud and grateful to be a Muslim. I know that I was created to worship God and build this earth and make it better, not just for the sake of fooling around and harming myself and others.

So Music is actually forbidden to listen to in Islam. People dont understand how terrible it is to have something that amplify your emotions, how tiring, and how energy destroying that could be. you get a bunch of high moments while listening but the rest of your day is gone.
And if you listen to it all the time then watch how long you sleep and still end up waking up tired.
Stop filling your mind with empty bs and start listening to the world and nature and yourself and reading good books or hearing good talks instead.
For me I fill my mind with Quran instead.

By this case, it doesn't mean that we should cut off music completely from our life, but hey, anything that's too much is bad, including music.
Since if we have dependency on music, or we ALWAYS listen to music, we might struggle to enjoy the things we do in the present. If you want to take some time to enjoy music and do nothing else, that's good, just make sure to check out the outward world, instead of just focusing on music, forgetting everything that's right in front of you.
I have a regret when I was 14 (just a year ago), I finally got to listen to music on earphones in car, so I became addicted. But it felt like I shut my whole world down by focusing to the music instead of enjoying the view and talking to my family, now that I don't get the chance to do that anymore since my dad passed away a few months later, I became overflown by regret, and my finally my mom confessed that they thought that I was avoiding to talk with them and I looked like an antisocial.
So let's focus on the present, let music either be the background music in our daily activities, or give some time to listen and appreciate music alone :)
    p. n. hella cool video!! I really love the cinematography and the concept!!

In fact, in Islam, listening to music is forbidden, and the details of this matter have not been delved into. Many Muslims or people of other religions have always wondered why this matter exists, even though we have preconceptions about the matter, such as that it causes a lack of concentration, and the abundance of songs causes depression, and also the bad emptiness when you finish from Hearing a good song, you search for more and more. Also, most of the songs contain bad, obscene and addictive lyrics. We have a rule, which is that nothing is forbidden without a reason, and everything that is forbidden is harmful to us. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We must really stop living our lives with music. We enjoy natural sounds

    • @Funfork

"the details of this matter have not been delved into"- No, plenty of people thought about that already, and it's easy to understand that's because music takes away muslims' time/attention to submit to their god. 5 pray sessions a day, what else ... Anyway, if humans were born just to do exactly the same thing, we aren't much different from chickens: bred, fed, grown up, then die lol

I’m a muslim too and i do my best to become better each day. Although i do believe not all music or songs are forbidden. I used to play the piano as a teenager and it gave me so much joy and confidence, and i used to recite the quraan in a mosque on a weekly basis, there was once this open questions discussions for the teachers and i asked them about music, they told me it matters “ which type” and it’s impact on me and those around me. I do agree with you that many songs have bad lyrics with cursing and body description, and promoting a bad influence in general specially genres like rap and r’n b. But others, have sensational instrumental solos, deep retrospective words, and a piece of art that gives you good feelings, lift your mood, and can even put you “ spiritually “ in a better position. I believe spending more time listening, reading quraan and praying is the best thing to do with our time. But sometimes it’s hard not to admit the beauty of human art embodied in music. I’m a visual artist myself and work as a video games artist, and i believe good art can make people feel and live better, and create strong connections and memories, let alone the effect of music on people with dementia.. at the end i respect your comment and salute you for speaking and promoting the goodness in our beautiful Islam 😊
