    I went a month without listening to any yt, podcasts, music or anything while traveling and I received so much inner clarity and felt so much at peace. I love music, but to have it playing constantly takes away from the beauty and importance of silence. I was reading more books, one was called 30 Days to Reduce Stress by author Harper Daniels, I liked it, it was simple, taught mindfulness. Music or sound in general cannot happen without the important intervals of silence.

      I agree I'm a music producer and I notice that I go threw little Stints we're I let music consume my life way to much to where all I do no matter what I'm doing is controlled by music, it's good to detox my self once in a while and the scilence and beauty of life is great to hear

      I'm forced to do this when my ears are disliking the rhythm. whenever I do start listening to music again it feels so fresh though. Recommended. I only really started listening to music in 2020 otherwise I never actually cared about it.

    Man this is such a neglected issue. Everyone tends to think that Music can never be distractive but too much of anything always has repercussions. Thanks for sharing such insightful thoughts and advices to truly enjoy the gift of Music.

      Another issue is that people are wearing noise cancelling ear pods all the time. It might sounds silly but noise cancelling quality increaced so much in recent years that you can't hear other's talking at all. You're literally into your world and missing the chance to converse with others. I find this pretty problematic.

      different people have different preferences. Just cause its an issue for u doesn't mean its for someone else. There could be people who could listen to music 16+ hours a day w/o any issues.

    Overstimulation! 100% agree that we need to give our minds space to daydream, and be itself without any distractions or suppressions. Not only does listening to music less make it sound better, it also makes you more present. Great video

      @@tryingtobebetter19 Honestly the only thing that helped was to cut music out for a while. I went a month with no music at all and even now it's a bit difficult to not daydream, I still hardly listen to music at all. When I listen to music I try to think of the lyrics in my head, although that's not always possible because mainly I listen to classical so I try to think of the sheet music 😭 I used to pace around while listening to music and it makes it so much harder to day dream if I stand still so if you're someone who paces too you can try to stand still! as long as you train yourself to not daydream while listening to music eventually it will become second nature

    I think this is also why I love revisiting songs that I haven't heard in a very long time, and when they're songs that age like fine wine, that's probably the best experience one can ever have in their life

    This summarises everything I've been trying to tell my friends for the past few months. We live in an age of distraction. We don't want to address our insecurities or anxieties and I think it's reaching a point we don't even want to address our passions, ideas or even the people around us. Social media is the best example. I find it genuinely so scary how we've all become so used to constantly overstimulating ourselves with media that is not even our reality. There are of course benefits to understanding others' reality and perspectives, and even building a community online is great but its not real, and the everyday reality of your life becomes boring and unenjoyable by comparison. We are not meant to be happy all the time, in fact I think life would suck if we were. But the constant stimulation to our brains from likes, from new content being produced every minute is destroying our minds. One thing I think is interesting is how quickly we all get adapt to social media updates. Think back to when Twitter was updated to X, no one was happy about it. But people continued to flock to it, using something they don't even enjoy anymore just because we're used to it. I could go into a rant about how dangerous this is but I won't. All I'll say is our brains, like you said are built to adapt, to think, to bring ideas to life and we are literally dumbing ourselves down for the sake of constant stimulation.

    Being a classical musician myself, believe me - the last thing your brain wants to do after coming back home, especially after very long & intense rehearsals is listening to anything. In these cases silence is the medicine for most of us, particularly when you're overstimulated, just gives you a reset. Of course sometimes you're so hyped, you have the urge to be with music 24h and that's ok too:) Just personally I noticed that when I give myself a short break from listening & making music, I end up appreciating it even more.

    As someone that gets distracted a lot without music anyway and always ends up overthinking, music became for me as a way to focus my thoughts, but it can still become a distraction. Silence doesn't work for me. Idk if it's just me but listening to a single song on loop helps a lot to avoid distraction. I learn everything about a song, and my brain just autopilots and enjoys it while tuning in and out of focus.

    I wish I had heard this a couple years back, when escaping was all I wanted to do. I would listen sometimes most of the day as a distraction, but now I listen for about an hour in the morning and 2 hours in the evening. Sometimes more sometimes less. Perhaps I needed to go through experience that to grow as a person. Now I appreciate music a lot more.
    But honestly every single part of this video is pure gold. Such a great perspective. To add to that - not listening to music when you're in nature is even better than music or being in public spaces. Really calms you down and all you can do is just be present - listen to the birds, the trees moving in the wind or water splashing.

    yes I agree with some of this but at the same time music doesn't always have to be a distraction, it can be a really helpful tool to help you process those emotions and sit with them, and it can also inspire you, therefore boosting your ideas and creativity.

    I heavily agree with just listening to albums. I’m not saying never listen to playlists, but so many people including my closest friends just listen to playlists and never get that message or see the intent that the artist was going for in the album. So many cool concepts and stories to appreciate with albums and most of that is just forgotten when most people listen to essentially musical highlight reels.

      I'll say how much I like the Japanese artist Cindy, when I haven't listened to even half of her album, Angel Touch, I always plan to, it's just easier listening to the same few songs I already know and love.

      what I do is just listening to a full album once and select all the songs I enjoyed to add them to my rotation. So I end up having music rich in variety but not really cohesive

      @@giantclaw138 I definitely know that feeling, I love the album Achievement by PilotRedSun, and the stand alone songs are pretty nice and fun to listen to, but all of them one after another is just a whole different experience, it's absolutely insane and I love that album so much.

      I strongly agree. Listening to album from beginning to end can tell a story. I grew up with CDs, I would genuinely get excited to hear a new CD from beginning to end in while driving in my car. Its an exhilarating experience which I fear future generations will not experience to come.

    So true. When I am listening to music on the subway, it just gives me anxiety, because I feel like I should be present and walking and there’s so much stimuli going on that the music is distracting me from being in the moment and witnessing the beauty of my surroundings, and the people I could connect with. Yeah, music has become a drug for a lot of us and I have been guilty of that as well. Thanks for bringing this up.

    I listen to music massively because I suffer from Maladaptive Daydreaming, when I daydream I don't even remember I was listening to music, everything in my imagination is all-consuming... it's like I'm not listening to anything but at the same time I have strong feelings about it.

      Exactly!!! I have this and I did not know how to put it. Whenever I listen to music I just Imagine scenarios and I jump/dance throughout andi can do it for a whole day without feeling tired but at the end my day is UNPRODUCTIVE.!!!

    I think more universally, doing anything to delay or escape those feelings of anxiety is not a good idea. It's easy when you're feeling stressed or bored to cover it up by listening to music, or watching videos, or even other things that aren't necessarily bad, but can be a way to escape from your feelings. It's good to learn to process those emotions and deal with them directly.

      i think it depends, some people are kind of also just constantly stressed for no reason and thinking about it will make them spiral so they need to be able to distract themselves as the anxiety is not actually useful or needed for them, idk tho.
      like you shouldnt feel anxious ALL the time

      @@GabrielConso_ To a certain extent, I would agree with you. It's good to do things to relax, I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but I do think that at a certain point, you have to confront whatever is making you stressed. You may not be able to change what's happening, but you can change your outlook on what's going on. I do agree with you, though. I think doing things like that can be a great way to destress, but it shouldn't be your only coping mechanism.

      So true. Back when I was 14 I had teribble social skiIls and was so scared of people approaching me or me approaching them. When I was awkward and anxious , I used music but honestly I've started quitting it much more after reading the Qur'an. It does help and teaches me that it's equally important to not run away from negative emotions and feelings like fear , anxiety , awkwardness and so on. And because I have quit using my phone and music in such cases , I know how to better deal with them.

    You have no idea how much I needed someone to say this. I guess I kinda knew this subconsciously but just needed someone to put it into words. I also have maladaptive daydreaming and music just adds fuel to the fire. It also helps with dissociating which takes so much energy that I’m tired all the time.

    I'm 15, I totally quit social media and used my phone 10-30mins. It has been a year now. I used to be always with my headphones on, literally I stopped hearing well because of the volume being at 100%. Since I stopped using my phone that much I stopped listening to music. I literally lost my headphones but I didn't care. Now I have so much time to learn new things, and I really did, now I can think without any music interrupting. I learned so much things about me. I learned English, Russian, French, German and Italian. I learned how to play the saxophone, the electric guitar, drums and piano. If I don't listen to music, I produce it.

    you are very right about the anxiety buildup. on the same lines i think it is very important to take silent breaks often, processing the thoughts floating around clarifies our thought process and helps us make better decisions. I am glad more people are talking about the affects of distracting ourselves everyday, it's quite an obvious problem with a simple cause and simplesolution but hard to get over.

    I haven't even watched the video yet and I 100% agree. In high school I was someone who seldom listened to 4-5 songs a day. I would see everyone plugging in their earbuds for five minutes breaks and I was like.. why? I would have moments where I would listen to music, and even watch dance videos and try to follow along, but I could go on says without listening to anything and be fine.
    When my mom passed, I spent most of my time with earphones in. I could simply not NOT be over-stimulated most of the time. I could not think about what had just happen and the circumstances that led me there. Music started annoying me. I experienced depersonalization. I had to go on music fasts. For days, I would not listen to anything. During a long time, anytime I listened to music again the depersonalization came back.
    Now I still spend most of my days around music -i write, sing and produce. But I no longer mindlessly consume and I'm much better thank God. This brother is right. Also, pay attention to the lyrics EVERY TIME and how you feel after listening to certain songs. Peace.

    This is part of why I feel like instrumental music is so good. Lyrics tell you what to think about. Sure, the lyrics could help you process something you need to be processing, but most of the time they just distract you. They also don’t let you think about your own experience since the artist is describing their experience, not yours. Instrumental music on the other hand leaves its meaning up for interpretation. It doesn’t tell you what to think about, so you could interpret the music in some way that relates to your current situation. It just gives you so much more liberty.

    I stopped listening to music on phone for 3 weeks because it broke, but when it got repaired, i played music, i enjoyed every single second that day, best day ever, i haven't got that feeling no more since because music is played 24/7, but now i understand taking breaks or reducing on music will help you enjoy music again

    I completely resonate and relate to all of this. I write a lot of stories in my free time and it's so hard to think and write properly when I have music in my ears, but for whatever reason, I do it anyway.       I agree with the general idea that silence/boredom is necessary and severely lacking in modern lifestyles BUT I'd argue that music is actually one of the very best ways to fill up that empty space. It's the least painful poison, so to speak. Well, as long as you aren't listening to the most brain-rotting commercial crap out there.

    I can see how music can totally play into a routine of escapism, but I think specifically music is such a good catalyst for this kinda stuff, because it's awesome, and non destructive! You can get addicted to anything that distracts you from feelings of discomfort and the idea to find out what it's like to go about your day with a twist (like not listening to music) can be very helpful for many other things too.

    I realized i needed to shorten the time i spent listening to music when i started to wake up and a lyric would involuntarily be on a constant replay in my head. I used to be uncomfortable with silence and i think that goes for everyone when silence makes you uncomfortable. You just aren’t adapted to it you’re used to scrolling, watching videos, listening to music 24/7 it all makes you feel good and it serves as an escape from ourselves, society, problems whatever it is even if you aren’t aware that its serving as an escape, it is. What’s helped me is realizing all those philosophers all those amazing figures in history who left great works of art they were living in silence 24/7 yes music can inspire you and expand your creativity but imagine how powerful your thoughts would be in silence thoughts that arent inspired by a 3rd party its your own thoughts this also correlates with how powerful boredom is imagine what you can create and come up with. (Sorry my grammar is off i havent been sleeping well) i love music so much all kinds of genres and artists but you have to keep it limited you have to keep certain things limited or else it’ll control you (like a drug) last year in school ALL i did in class was listen to music i had great grades but i felt that i half of my consciousness was there whereas the other half was on an entire different planet i was caught up and ontop with assignments but i wasnt caught up with the lesson itself this year i only listen to music when im walking to classes then i stop listening to music and focus in class what ive also noticed is that types of music impact your perspectives on people and the world some kinds of artists i listen to are jcole, the weeknd, and immortal technique i listen to rap too but not so much of modern rap I ALSO LISTEN TO country, r&b, soul, pop, blues and pretty much every genre what i mean by impact on perspectives is that ive known so many males or females that have a fked up perspective on love due to modern rap or other music and its bad its dtb (when they’ve only talked to like 5 girls) and now they’ve given up on love and for the boys its get money fk btches and for girls its you gotta be rich to be my man money is everything in this kind of world but what i know is that money isnt love and love isnt money i have trust issues myself but it isn’t from music its from experience but i think i still have it in me to give a chance to trust. Music can create false perspectives on people and the world when the person impacted hasn’t even experienced it, what i also noticed is that music can feed into your depression or sadness sometimes connecting too deep to music can drag you down music is powerful more powerful than most people think be careful what you listen to and how deep you connect to music just like reece said “you’re probably thinking its just music no big deal” everything that goes in one ear and in the head is a big deal and most of the time you wont notice it your brain will show the affect through however it impacted you i love music its my heart my soul but there is MORE TO LIFE THAN MUSIC BE CONSCIOUS BE AWARE DONT BE OBLIVIOUS(THATS ONE THING THAT HAPPENS WHEN YOURE LISTENING TO MUSIC 24/7 YOU BECOME LESS AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS) CONNECT WITH PEOPLE INSTEAD OF ONLY CONNECTING TO MUSIC and if you’re addicted (can be anything) and if you’re aware act on it and get help being aware is the first step and its a good one be proud of yourself for even the smallest improvements and changes

    I have no words to describe this, but this video came at the right time.
    I haven't been able to concentrate lately and I'm having trouble overcoming procrastination, I've been listening to an entire album for a long time and enjoying it and what you say makes a lot of sense, I listen to music all the time because I love music, but the more I listen to it, the less I enjoy it because it didn't let me do it, You are very right when you say that by distracting yourself with music it loses its value as an experience, it becomes a distraction and steals your presence and that of others around you, I think it's a good idea not to listen to music (at least the one you like the most) during the day and only do it when you get home, I'm sure that will make it more enjoyable or even make us watch it again Like quite an experience, Thanks for this video, it came at the right time for me

    i do agree, there was a time where i’d just listen to music for hours and it didn’t even entertain me anymore. but i took a break from internet stuff in general and decided to put on some of my fav songs and that feeling where your brain tingles when you hear a good song hit me so hard like never before bc i lost the numbness to it. music is good in moderation

    this is definitely something a lot of people need to hear. as for going to school with no music, lead alone a phone and you said that made your day improve, i can promise you this would have the opposite effect on me. i need music to get through the day otherwise i couldn’t do it. i understand what you’re saying, and do agree with a lot, but at the same time music has many more benefits then negatives. if someone needs music to feel better in a situation, they should listen to it.

    I needed this video. I started to think I am addicted to music bc I’ll be having difficult moods when I am not walking and traveling with music in my ears. It has become a problem bc I travel in public vehicles and I don’t live in a particularly ‘safe’ neighborhood, especially when I go home at night. Yep, silence or the sound of your environment is definitely helpful and healthier. I started not bringing headphones for a week, and I found out how much more convenient was that to me when I travel or somewhere public. Thank you for your thoughts, you’ve always been helpful

    I write music and a lot of times I draw inspiration from the music I listen to. Whether it’s the concept, emotion, or a just a single phrase the music I listen to tends to influence the music I write and when I’ve listened to too much music, the music I write becomes just background like the stuff I listen to and it’s not special anymore. When I take a break from music for a couple days and come back I usually end up writing some of my favorite songs because I have the clarity and appreciation to come up with something new and interesting. I was already thinking about taking a break before I watched this but now I think I should for sure. Also btw the way you speak is so eloquent, it was a joy to watch this!

      For me music can't be in the background, everytime I play it I get way too into it even if its not that great, it just sucks me in. Also, same here with taking inspiration from the songs I listen to, especially silent hill.

    This is so amazing! I’ve been listening to music 24/7 and it was so awful as my anxiety increased abruptly. I made a decision not to play music where I need to focus. And as you know to break something in your mind you have to provide an alternative and so I started listening to audiobooks instead. Now, I feel so good being with myself & just being more present. Listening to audiobooks is powerful yet it could do the same effect of constant listening to music. Thank you so very much for sharing & keep on posting your thoughts.

    Awesome video! I used to listen to music non stop and it was my survival technique. I'm glad it was like that because it helped me so much. But a couple of years ago it got too much and I stopped listening to it, I was listening on rare ocassions and also to not so known musicians, who were actually feeding my soul. Now I definitely feel more present with music. 🎶✨

    This segment is absolutely true actually. I keep track of my thoughts throughout the day at work, and before I started listening to music I used to have a lot to say.
    But after I started listening to music those thoughts, for the most part, went away significantly. However, this also came with the benefit of decreasing my anxiety when working, due to those thoughts constantly flooding my mind, with some of them causing me stress. With music however those negative thoughts went away and turn into more positive ones as I often put myself in the scene of the song's I listen to.

    This was really something I needed to hear, having music so present in my life. I have CDs, cassettes, vinyls air pods and a Walkman. I'll listen to them on drives, walks, working out, homework, cleaning house, and so on. I use most of these every day. I'll take a break from them for a while, give this a shot.     this was really well put together. today for the very first time I am going to therapy and I can't believe I just got "thera-py'd" before. You are very wise and for musicians that are stuck, I feel like it's really important to understand how important silence is like you said. Indulging in conversations is one of the biggest parts of the human experience. One of the things I loved back in my sophomore year of highschool was the socratic seminars we would have after writing a piece. It was so cool to be able to take one big idea and then hear everyone's different experiences and connections to the central idea while also contributing to the overall melting pot of creative thoughts being discussed.

    This video reminded me how I used to listen music 24/7 as a coping mechanism in a very hard period in my life. I was using music to stop thinking about oofing myself. I was losing a lot of hair and gaining a lot of weight before listening to music. It helped me a lot, well at least until I got over that horrible period. Then music made me very numb. Now I'm way better, after I did a break from music. So it's super nice to see this type of content. Thanks.

    from last year, to probably forever, i have this one tradition where i would make my own cd with my favorite songs that i love personally and i would want my friends to listen to too. so i would make multiple cds and share with them. and i put a lot of thoughts and details to them. since a cd doesn’t hold infinite amount of songs, i’m practically forced to include an ending track to wrap everything at the end. so within 80 minutes, i can remind myself that i have listened enough for one day, if i listen to more, my brain can’t process or remember everything. so it’s good that i keep this tradition going for myself.

      @@octaviusrex5287 i don’t excessively make or buy cds, because i need a lot of consideration put into each playlists or albums. i had an external cd reader for a year or two, and it stopped working recently so i will get a new one. i stream music like everyone else as well. i just find cds to be more comfortable.

I think it would be super cool to do what you're doing, and has me actually considering buying an external CD reader. The only problem is I would need something that is able to read that every time I'd want to use the CD. lol

    Music is a huge part of my life too, almost to the point that I am listening/watching/distracting even in the downtime. I have tried keeping away from my phone and succeeded too sometimes. The issue I deal with when I am without my phone and alone are my thoughts. Almost like the moment my mind starts to speak, I try to shut it up with music or youtube. I am uncomfortable with what my mind has to say because its been so long since I actually thought. How do I sit with myself, how do I let my thoughts flow by. It's so daunting. Idk how to go about it, Reece. Would love a video talking about this or if you have already a link to it would be helpful too.

    I used to listen to music all day at school, and even as i walk to and from school. Then the night would come and all those stresses would flood into my brain and i'd be restless trying to go to sleep. But recently i've been taking my earbuds out as I walk home, and I feel like as I'm walking I kind of criticize everything that has happened throughout my school day, and it really helps me get anxiety and stress out of my head. :)

    Thanks, for some reason, every time I search up if music is bad for you, it always warns about playing loud music in your ears but never about the other type where it's instead prolonged. When that songs comes on i can remember the life moments that went with it and think about the good or bad of it.     feel this. one thing i realized was that i was almost exclusively listening to playlists on shuffle all the time. Spotify and apple music are great for that and while it allowed me to hear a bunch of diff songs, it sometimes led to more passive listening due to randomness/lack of continuity. this past year i've been listening to lots of EPs and albums front to back and that's been special for me. I realized that I hadn't even listened to some my favorite artist's projects in that manner; the way they intended. It requires focus & time which can be hard for us nowadays, but def worth it.

    I remember reading or hearing somewhere the being bored can actually be the best thing for you. Forcing yourself to sit and do nothing with no distractions forces you to deal with your inner thoughts, and it can be incredibly helpful to soend time just thinking.     I agree with the issue of overuse. But where does ambient music fall into this issue for you? I feel like there's a significant difference to listening to pop or rock all day to listening to something like game/movie/ambient music that is intentionally designed to boost your experience without distracting you. I've personally always used it as a way to drive the "theme" of my thinking.

    That's hows i used to drown out my problems was music, when people were fighting i put it on, when i got overwhelmed i put it on and when work for 8 to 12 hour's a day, just music and than when i go to bed it just instantly is dreadful, so im trying to hold back and face those overwhelming situations of silence head on because silence can be your friend! It can help you💕
    I now listen to music in a healthy way, i use it to fuel my creative inspiration as a artist which is perfect to find that healthy balance!

      But that's exactly the point at which you start emotionally manipulating yourself into thought processes that are lead by the theme/tone of the particular song you're listening to, which you chose. I'm saying that society has come to a point where everyone sets the tone for ones own emotional state and thought-process via music. If I think of a tragedy that happened to me someday, maybe way way back in my life, and i start to take interest in the feeling of sadness behind that memory, I usually at least get the idea of pulling out my phone and to deepen into that frequency of emotion that seems so present in that moment.
      Next thing that happens is intensified sadness, thoughts rushing in directions they wouldn't have, if wouldn't have lead them to do so by feeling the urge to match this small thought of sadness or misery with an equally toned Song, just to underline my emotional state und prove to myself that im not good, even though I maybe would be, if I would stop giving in to urges like these.

      Eh “sad” music is just good sometimes. Even went you aren’t feeling down. Indie is an especially good sound in regards to this.

    I'm so grateful i found your channel, this resonated so much with me... a few months ago i read a book, and at a certain point the narrator talked about silence. He said that we are not used to silence anymore, but that we need it now more than ever. He also added that maybe we are actually afraid of silence, that's why we feel the need to fill it. According to him, we often do not want to face the discomfort we might feel if we spend time alone with ourselves without any kind of sound, just us. Noises and sounds fill the silence, fill our minds and leave us with fewer space for peace. So yeah... I completely agree! Also, I find myself getting tired of the songs I listen to, I feel like I'm always craving for something new, but at the same time I don't have the patience to listen to a new album or a new song. This happens when I find myself listening to music for HOURS and hours nonstop, until it becomes kinda dull, which is sad since I absolutely love music and exploring different genres

    When I listen to music, I just sit down, grab the best headphones I have and set up the best audio settings I can and I just enjoy it, every single note. And with every artist or gerne, I can just feel something completely different at the click of a button. If it's really good, I sometimes have expressions on my face that I didn't even know existed. It's truly amazing what music can do to us and how music connects us. It's a universal language and if you master it, you can achieve great things with it.

    I've always ignored this issue, though I knew, silence was important. I used to listen to trees, but the silence in between their words crept up on me as I thought about things I didn't want to. I went to music and couldn't, still can't, have a moment without it. My Italian friend and I recently started refollowing the famous phrase, "dolce far niente". The niente, nothingness, is what I consider silence. Silence is important. Peace, quiet. Thank you for making this video.

    so i was in my first semester of college, graphic design career, and i had to do tons of manual works with paper and all kinds of materials, handmade textures that required an insane amount of time and focus for me, i used to listen to music as i did my work, and it was so incredibly hard and stressful, once i stopped, i learned the value of being concentrated and my life feels better than ever

    Yes, I have had such a huge habit of listening to music, never interfering with my day to day life, however last week I listened too much all night to think about a girl I'm talking to. I decided to take a 2 week-1 month break, wish me good luck!

      @@miras-nurtazin thanks for aksing! I didn't quit music, however I have a healthier relationship with music. I don't listen to it every time I'm in the hallways, or in the morning. I only use it after school on walks or on the bus.

    I feel like music makes me daydream and helps with my creativity, but I get its different for everybody. I enjoy your perspective.     I used heavy metal as a distraction from depression years ago, and keep myself awake in class, then I got addicted and listened to it 24/7. It saved me in someway but it took me a long time to try to live without listening music, and silence was scary and unbearable because bad things started to comeback. Once I got so tired of music but was afraid to stop it.
    I’m so happy that I find the balance now.

    I definitely went through a phase like this. I was going through something at the time and hated letting my brain spiral on those thoughts. I got this really awful consuming feeling when I thought about this particular issue I was having. I constantly was playing music during the day while doing tasks, but during the night was especially difficult not to think about things so I would put on podcasts so my brain would have to focus on the conversation rather than wonder with background music. I eventually got over it but I wonder what would have happened if I let myself dwell on that feeling. Maybe it would have past faster. I’m glad to say I now listen to podcasts because I want to, not to escape from anything. And I’ve been working on playing less music. Though it’s not to escape anything, I do listen to music too much in general. Anyways thank for this message.

    This lies in the same vein to anything that takes your attention away from your inner thoughts & feelings. Too much of it is bad. It’s important to identify your feelings, spend that time with yourself when an emotion arises if you have the time. I was addicted to video games & it’s the same issue, just a little more stimulating to me than maybe music is for someone else. Good luck on your journey to peace everyone

      Does music really take you away from your inner thoughts and feelings? Ive always found music helps me to think about myself even better. It allows the emotions to just flow out and be guided by the flow of sound.

    Reese, been meaning to write this comment to you from a quite a minute now. But you and me, we think SO much alike. I've been a viewer for a few months now and you have the EXACT same rational ideals as me and you see through what most people don't. You and I are in the same grade (class of 2024 oh yeah) You've taken the words right out of my mouth, on a WHOLE lot of your previous topics, especially the ones about social Media and phones, and being yourself-- it's almost as if you're speaking my mind for me. I sympathize with everything your saying, you have influenced so many people-- but hearing my similar thoughts from someone other than myself- opens my eyes! Like I said, you have made a huge impact on your people in this comments section/view. This is even more motivation to elevate my potential for myself, and I may very well start making videos like this soon, because I have an untold story to share as well!     I can only really appreciate my surroundings when I am listening to music. That being said it has to be the right kind of music and usually the best thing for me is when I'm experimenting with new genres/sounds because I get in a sort of creative headspace where the stuff around me also begins to light up. If I listen to the same playlist over and over then I start zoning out so I get it.
