Thank you for specifically acknowledging that women are capable of managing their contraception.
Haaaaaaaaa.
Can you do an updated video for Females Use of Finasteride? Discuss if women can have side effects like low libido, inability to climax. depression, skin aging, and bone loss. I have found no content on the internet about this.
I’m a woman , I’ve had AGA hairloss now for 10 years. I’ve lost over half my hair and I have miniaturisation all over my head . I read several medical journals about finasteride for women and given that it is safe providing I am not planning to have a child and am already taking yazmin for hair loss , I now take 4mg of finasteride a day . Medical journals recommend 3-5mg for women . I’ve now been on 4mg a day for 2 months with absolutely no side effects so far . I get mine via male family members who order from an online pharmacy for me because it’s near IMPOSSIBLE to get it prescribed. I can see tiny improvement already and I only just finished my second month . It CAN help women according to medical trials … we just need a higher dose than men .
Is it hair loss less? I'm so scared to take it....had no issue getting
It. Do u worry about ur liver enzymes going up? And the effect on neuro steroids. I miss my birth control pills. ..my Gyn took me off when I turned 50....had nice hair on it. I'm on hormones and stuck on testosterone. Losing hair ever since I got on it. Very sensitive to Dht. Honestly I'm surprised you aren't having symptoms. My doc is starting me on 1mg finasteride....guess that won't do jack.
@@terrir.7604 hi there . I don’t have any symptoms at all . I went up from 4mg to 5mg of finasteride a month ago . My hairline has had some improvement for sure and there’s other signs of improvement. I have not had a single side effect as yet. I also use minoxidil which I believe helps to keep me covered . Might I add … the research in the medical journal that I found , not one single woman in that study was reported to have side effects at all. These were proper clinical trials in published academic journals. They are very easily accessible online. The issue I DID have in the past was with spironolactone . I stopped taking that 3 years ago as it was messing with my kidneys and causing other side effects . Thus far , I have had not one negative issue from taking finasteride, other than the expense of it . It has enabled me to not have to wear a baseball cap or a wig everyday, which for me has been immensely comforting
@@vikkiLH77 thanks so much for ur response....it's very encouraging. I have heart rhythm issues so I am scared of spironolactone. And the kidney issue as well. My hair line is bad so u give me hope. Hope u continue to have improvements. I was about to buy a wig!!
@@terrir.7604 it’s very upsetting and stressful isn’t it . Do you use minoxidil at all ?? The 5% strength is what I use and it does help . I get a little peach fuzz on my face with it , but it’s barely visible and I simply get rid of it with a razor and contrary to popular fictional belief , peach fuzz does not grow back thicker, just a bit of fuzz every ten days or so . It’s really nothing . Sounds silly but are your iron levels okay ??? Getting my iron levels up helped me a bit with shedding . I do still shed as my hairs are thin and flimsy right into the root . There’s a hair masque by Pantene called pro V keratin repair and I find that it helps thicken my hair a little . It’s been a decade now that I’ve been shedding and getting thinner hairs but I think I’m managing to slow it down a lot with the stuff I’m doing . Xxxx
@@vikkiLH77 yes I think the stress from it just makes my hair fall out worse. I watch a lot of Kevin Mann videos and I may try Minoxidil topical after I try the finasteride. I get hair on my face from testosterone therapy so I've been shaving my face for awhile....lol. all blonde hairs tho so not noticeable really. I can't get off the testosterone cause I get so fatigued and lose muscle mass. I've been using nioxin shampoo and it helps with thickening but may try the pantene. Thx. Have u tried laser light therapy on the scalp?
I will have iron labs done soon. They were normal last time. Ferritin as well.
Here's the show I wanted to see. Thank you.
this was such an informative video - you guys are great! I got all of my curiosities answered and in such a clear & casual way I'm coming away from watching this feeling confident I understand whats going on. Super appreciate the work put in here : )
Thank you for this. I wish I lived closer! You are great and I’d pick you as my doctors. I am in early stages of hair loss, my mother and her mother are both very thin. There is nothing worse than being blessed with really thick hair, only to start to lose it. Then again, at least I had a lot to begin with. Have been on minoxidil for a year and a half and am looking for more treatment options to keep what I have. I just turned 44 and only started noticing thinning at my forehead and temples about two years ago.
Doctor iyaremoses on RUclips just cured me permanently from hirsutism completely in less than 21 days
Did u try finasteride?
No one's fear mongering. Post finasteride syndrome is real. A lot of people are suffering. If it worked for you great. But Shut your mouth when encouraging others to take it
Hi Docs, please what brings about scalp pain and how can it be treated?...please help !!!!
I had a male friend in his 30's use it and it works. He had been take a picture of his head every month. He did admit he was losing interest in sex. My husband is stalking it for enlarged prostate. He's losing his hair and I'm looking forward to seeing his hair restore.
I am so happy I was able to get rid of facial hair growth due to PCOS in less than 21 days with herbs and body cleanser from doctor iyaremoses on RUclips.
I started minoxidil, spironolactone, and birth control 8 years ago. 7 months ago I started 2.5 mg finasteride. I really really hope that finasteride makes my hair thicker.
I understand the concern. Part of the key is trying to stop this from getting any worse. Hopefully that hairs that are not too miniaturised will thicken up. Good luck!
The Hair Loss Show thanks! When I had a biopsy done a few years ago, the dermatologist did say that it was early stage, but I’m still paranoid about the timing since the thinning started after puberty and I didn’t start treatment until age 18. It’s my biggest regret that I didn’t recognize the hair loss sooner. I knew *something* was going on in high school because my texture changed, but I never thought it was permanent hair loss.
@@rmbouwens Retrospect is always a great thing. Try not to focus on that, instead look at what you can do now to maintain things.
How r u now?? Do finasteride work for women too as i also hv tht prblm!!
@@priyamishra302 Hi! I'm doing ok. Finasteride does work for some women. My doctor recently doubled my dosage of it after taking it for nearly a near and a half.
I am 23 years old . I took an emergency contraception pill and hair loss started. Dr recommend me Finasteride 5 mg and minoxidil saying genetic harmones are triggered. However after taking it for 1 month my existing hair strand became very thin and volume is lost too. He didn't do any biopsy or blood test for diagnosis before recommending medicine. Should I be worried ? Please help
Hello for how long did your Dr say you have to be on finasteride?
Existing hair don’t shrink or become thicker. That’s impossible.
Hey doctors.. what's your take on using Aminexil instead of minoxidil for women with mild AGA?
Hello and thanks for a great series! Can you recommend any low level laser devices?
Pls talk about finastride dosage for women
I am post menopausal for 22 years and a former sufferer of PCOS. I have had hair loss for years along with hirsutism. Both conditions are getting worse and testosterone is getting higher and higher. Would you suggest Finersteride alone for me with along with an oral contraception?
How can a scalp biopsy show 5-alpha reductase as being the culprit of hair loss? I've had 2 done and neither dermatologist mentioned this nor did the report.
I watched one of your videos regarding usage of Finasteride for men and you suggested that it does not have to be taken every day to minimize side effects. Is that true for women? I was subscribed this medicine for my diagnosis of AGA but it has made me gain weight. My doctor recommended once a day (1mg). I have noticed that I have started to gain weight and have not even noticed yet if it has minimized my shedding. I appreciate any input from you. Thanks
And now please, is there any change?
hii, im woman 24yo and i think i have hereditary hair loss (hatchet) , am i allowed to consume finastride/spironoloctane? thanks! need your advice 😁
Sir how long i can use Finasteride....? And is it safe for a long time
I am a 22 years old girl...I am diagnosed with PCOD..and I am suffering from severe hair fall irt become patches ...my doctor given me Finasteride 5mg for 3 months In few days my hair fall stop completely....but after three months when I stop Finasteride 5 mg with in 2 days the severe hairfall came back again .. should I take dutasteride ???????
I would really love to get an answer to the question.
Can females take Dutasteride instead of Finasteride.
Are you on birth control?
Have you checked your dht and testosterone level before starting finasteride?are they normal? Plzzzz reply

Kindly make an updated video on use of finastride 1mg in females with high dht
in the male video, you suggest a dose of 1mg 3x/week - what is your dosing recommendation for post menopausal women?
My doctor says 1 mg a day, but a heard about even 5 mg a day - only for postmenopausal women!
I would like to make a appointment. Where are you located?
what is the dosage you recommend for a 20 year old ?
Thank you. My Dernatologist prescribed Dutasteride. What is best naturally before taking this prescription medication?
Did you take it and/or still taking it? Thanks 😊
Docs, what about liver damage from long term usage? Are there any studies on that? I’ve heard of this concern
There are a lot of finasteride side effects, but there's no evidence of it being harmful to the liver. People have been using the 5mg dose for BPH for 30 years. I'm pretty sure that the 1mg dose for hair loss is safe.
@@dualscreengrant Thanks!!
I’m a woman on 200mg spironolactone AND 25mg bicalutamide in addition to an anti-androgenic birth control pill. I’ve never seen any decrease in shedding. I continue to shed miniaturized hairs like crazy. I’m going to try oral minoxidil (I’ve never used it in either oral or topical form), but how I can I stabilize my hair loss? I live in the US and doctors refuse to prescribe me finasteride/dutasteride because even though I’m on reliable contraception and don’t want children, I have a uterus I wish I could have removed. I’m absolutely distraught a drug that could help me and other women is being withheld because the medical community apparently thinks we’re all actively trying to get pregnant while taking teratogenic drugs.
There’s different causes to hairloss. Androgens are just one of them. Check for scalp tension, inflammation, fungal infections causing itching and flakes, as well as possible other hormones off balance; stress, thyroid issues, lack of blood flow and nutritional deficiencies! It’s a lot of work but eventually you’ll find the root cause, :)
Took me a lot of research to understand this. There’s a serious lack of information online and even doctors are clueless. The common blame is DHT but the truth is that it’s just one of the multiple factors that can lead to hairloss and some people don’t even have this issue and still lose tons of hair!
What dose of finastride is considered low for women???
Is it possible that post-finasteride syndrome is confused with the long time the drug remains on the skin? It is said that a simple dose of 1mg can remain on the skin for at least 30 days, so daily intake would lead to an over-accumulation in the body. In addition, it takes 3-6 months for the body to rid itself of the drug.
No one's fear mongering. Post finasteride syndrome is real. A lot of people are suffering.
@@tired_of_everything0 Define "a lot" because there's hardly any people reporting this PFS syndrome you talk about.
Do premenaposal women have to use spiro along with fin or dut? Or can we use fin or dut solo? Thank you.
I’m on 2.5 fin and 200mg of spiro and my endocrinologist said it was fine. Bloodtest in 3 months 🤞

Does finastride decrease androgens?
It blocks a type of DHT
I CANNOT use minoxidil- allergic to it! Otherwise it totally works which really sucks.
IF women get side effects from 5mg of finasteride what would they be?

Finasteride helps to reduce body hair ?
great
Have you ever seen anyone go bald on dutasteride 0.5mg once a day?
Yes, in some people what happens is that testosterone itself is making bigger damage than DHT, its really rare cases. But dutasteride is lowering your DHT 90% and than wha happens is that testosterone spikes up and it is making the damage. I doubt that DHT is problem for your hair cuz avodart is really blocking almost all of it. You can use antiandrogens whoch blocks testosterone if it is the problem but it has more sides cuz it blocks test and dht. You can get toppical version of it
Search or RU58841. Good luck
What about the dose?
My trichologist recommended this to me (19) and I’ve been taking it 5mg daily for the past 3 months.
I don’t use a contraceptive but I don’t engage in sexual activities. I plan to have children but only in 5-7 years down the line. I wanted to be sure that this won’t affect my fertility or the baby health if it’s male. What’s your thoughts?
Hello just like you I take finasteride alone too. So why do these dr say it is dangerous to take the pill by itself?
@@pranalight76 From what I have researched this is not approved for women and it is generally prohibited for women that want to conceive. My first thought was that it was going to mess with our fertility but apparently it has mostly to do with the risk of getting pregnant and getting deformities in the fetus, especially if it is male. My doctor told me I should wait 10 months after the end of the treatment to try to conceive. If you are sexually active you should be taking the pill besides it.
Okay so the only worry is for women who want to get preganant. Well I am 20yrs old but on 1mg daily. For how long does your Dr want you to continue taking Finasteride?
@@pranalight76 We do not know yet. I have a 6 month treatment program. I may or may not continue beyond that depending on the efficacy of the medicine in the 6 months of usage. I’m on my 4th month and I am still not noticing any improvement beyond a bit less shedding. In fact the most improvement of hair regrowth occurs in the areas where I’ve applied an anagen serum where I see baby hairs growing. I definitely recommend you to stay away from corticosteroids (often used for alopecia). I’m finally starting to reduce the dosage: the side effects are absolute insane in my body and it only gave me relief in the first 3 weeks of heavy dosage; I feel like I barely see any hair difference and I’m not seeing anything beyond skin side effects. If by any chance your doctor prescribe you corticoesteroides you cannot stop taking them whenever you want; you have to slowly reduce the dosage for months so that you don’t get a disease in result of the shock of your body. Very dangerous meds. Would not recommend unless you feel the terrible accute pain I felt during hair loss and even then the side effects can be intense. In comparison to corticosteroids, Finasteride doesn’t have almost any side effects.
@@Carolina-rd3gh Thank you for the detailed response, and I will take your advice! So were you first prescribed Corticosteroids and then switched to Finasteride?
Hy sir ! Trans women can use it ?
Can finasteride also help in genetically thin hair?
No, it cannot change your genes.

Is that normal or should I see another doctor?
See another doctor, you need to test about ur iron and vitamin d and hormones. If you start minoxidil you won't be able to stop it, if you do you will lose more hair...anyway don't believe what a strange person is saying on the internet lol so you can do more research about what I said .

Can female take also dutasteride?
It is an off-label use in the case of hair loss. I normally find that if women are not responsive on finasteride, there is very little point in starting on dutatsteride. The cause is unlikely to be a DHT issue, and more to do with Estrogen and the estrogen receptor complex.
@@TheHairLossShow thanks for the answer. Today i found out that it has to do wit estrogen so the only cure is diane 35? What if you have to stop with that pill because of the menopauze?
@@Nathalie4058 People do take supplemental estrogen and progesterone as they are progressing through menopause. It doesn't have to be the OCP.

Nathalie4058 hi! Contraceptives are for pre and perimenipausal women( in your case- Diane 35) and hormonal replacement therapy- HRT- is for menopausal/ postmenopausal
Women). They are practically the same thing, the first ones are high- dose hormones, the second ones are low-dose hormones. So, let’s say you are on Diane 35 now, take them until
The average age a woman hits menopause( around 50), then you can switch to Climen( that has the estrogen and the progestin- Cyproterone acetate) similar to Diane 35, but lower dosages- doesn’ t prevent pregnancy. In fact, no Hrt product prevents pregnancy because of the low- dose progestin in them). I hope i helped!
