Evan Daugherty yea unfortunately it only works the other way around . My woman’s truck got broken into recently. They broke the window to steal the items inside. This is a list of what they got to keep; an empty suitcase, two popped river tubes, a bag of women’s shoes complete with a dirty pair of socks per pair of shoes , some clothes, a tool box, a roadside emergency bag, and I believe that’s it. To our luck the idiots didn’t see the spare key sitting in the cup holder but we learned our lesson

I’ve seen videos of interviews with former burglars and they say that breaking into a garage door is smart because you can say 1) you’re working in it 2) it closes back so there is not an obvious entry 3) most people don’t lock the door going into the home from the garage. Ever since I saw a video saying that I’ve locked our door into the kitchen from the garage. This video confirms that to be a good decision.
And you can also see (easily searchable) how EASY it is to open a garage door from outside using the manual override pull cord. After learning that, I have cut off the cord and zip-tied it, and always lock the door from the garage into my house (including beefing it up with 4" long screws for the hinges and the latch so that it can't be easily kicked down)...

Believe it or not they used to actually teach gun classes in public schools. My husband who is 47....got to bring a shot gun to High school for his outdoors adventures class back in the very early 90's.

Actually, most of the time, code transmitted by the remote is intercepted. Newer tech uses a rolling code. I think the video said something about the bad guys driving around until they found one that worked so they were probably just transmitting a code until a door Actually opened.

Most garage doors have a lock handle. Use it. You can also set it up so you have a button to turn off the power to the lift motor. Also have a lock that works from the out side. (Key type )
