It’s a beautiful English setter. Looks well cared for, their coats can mat or dread pretty easily. Based on the guns and the smaller size of the setter I bet it’s a hunting dog and I bet it’s lived an exiting/fun life with lots of time running and stalking outdoors. Seems to have a really good temperament as well, maybe the unhinging is a more recent development?
The first thing I would’ve done approaching the house would’ve been to ask the dog, “Where is he?”
Most dogs know what that means and would’ve taken them up the stairs. Probably wouldn’t have changed much but it would’ve gotten them there sooner.
Both cops are lucky to be alive. When stuff hit the fan, I didn't see them having each other's backs at all.

There should be strict mandatory fitness requirements for any type of law enforcement. Officers in this shape are not only a liability to themselves, but all involved.

I worked as a Corrections Officer for many years. I would often be on a housing unit outnumbered 50 to 1. I would be paired with an obese female. I was injured several times because they were unable and often unwilling to assist during inmate fights.
To be fair, that female was pra tically a bodybuilder compared to Officer Gordo.
These were comparable. Still just a bad situation.
Shouldn’t be in these jobs, useless and dangerous for other officers.

I disagree that every cop needs to be an athlete who can dish out a beat down. I've seen a lot of these cops on RUclips who are one poke away from blowing a gasket into a full roid rage.
I think cops should win through training, tactics, technology, and smarts. There are situations where a beat down is needed, but these are kinda like ticking time bomb scenarios, kinda rare etc and we shouldn't base our policing on them.

So that's how a room is cleared, you just stand in the doorway, glance around, and say "Clear." Somehow I thought there was more involved, like checking in closets and under tables/beds etc.

It doesn't really matter how fit you are, if you get a sudden adrenaline dump your're no good to any one past 30 seconds. Still probably right they may have been unfit to begin with.

@mrm8818 yeah it matters. When you are clearly a walking heart attack like these two upside-down bowling pins before any adrenaline inducing situation, you are way worse off when it does happen. A fit person who is properly conditioned might not even be brought down to your normal baseline by a huge stress dump. These fats are dragging 2 anvils around on chain with them everywhere they go.
I hope the dog was safe. I'm shocked that the officers didn't secure the dog. Instead he was allowed to follow around while the officers were trying room by room to find the man yelling. Bad situation for these officers going into a house w a man obviously having an issue w mental health. Hope he got help.

An open door with screams coming from the inside the "citizen in distress" doctrine applies...they announced their police identity several times loudly...as much as a Libertarian as I am - these cops are on good standing in their entrance. Their casual approach to this is a big part of what got them into a bad situation that they made worse with panic reactions. I'm glad they're both alright, but they need to reconsider their choice of profession. I've had to clear houses, apartments, buildings many, many times. You go in expecting to find something and ready with plans of action. Also, alert and ready to act. they both were not on alert even after seeing guns present. You should be systematic and methodical. They looked more like they were there to buy the house and wondering around looking at things. Not being systematic or having a plan, they had poor communication when they needed to have clear communication. Getting separated and not know where each other were at, makes a bad situation worse because now you might hesitate to shoot not know if you'll hit your partner.
