- Originally thought to be from Piedmont in North Italy, this Panna Cotta is a show-stopper. See the full recipe below.....
Panna = Cream
Cotta = Cooked
Cooked CREAM, get it? That means you should not be using milk, half and half, or light cream in this recipe!
PANNA COTTA RECIPE
Makes 4-6 panna cottas
Ingredients
2 cups heavy cream (500ml, or 1 pint)
2 ½ tblsp sugar (45gr, or 1 ½ oz.)
1 vanilla pod
1 leaf of gelatine
1 tsp vanilla extract (not vanilla essence)
1 tbsp dark rum (optional)
2 x cups mixed berries
Process
Soak gelatine in a little cold water until soft.
Grab a heavy based pot and add cream and sugar.
Split and scrape out vanilla pod. Add whole pod and vanilla extract.
Gently bring to the boil, then take off the heat.
Mix in gelatine until dissolved.
Mix in rum, then strain through a fine sieve.
Add to moulds and refrigerate (preferably overnight) until set.
To make the sauce
Add berries to small pot with 1 ½ tbsp sugar.
Cook on a low heat for 15 minutes.
To turn out Panna Cottas
Dip moulds in warm water for 5 seconds.
Gently turn out.
They may require a firm 'jolt' to release them from their moulds!
Serve with berry sauce.

Damn! Finally someone puts out a video featuring real, authentic panna cotta! But they didn't stop there, they did it with a high quality artistic video, superbly edited. But all that wasn't enough, they had to throw in kickass background music. I would say I'm going to go make panna cotta but I make it once or twice a week anyway.
whats that song in the background? Can somebody please let me know...
Strange Italian song by Juanitos

Love your originality how you present your video. Great recipe!
What is the use of rum in this recipe ? Can we make this recipe without rum ? Please reply . Waiting for answer. Perfect video really authentic. Waiting for more Italian food authentic videos. Thanks.
Please solve my query.
Your video is pure art and the song was amazing!!!
@ikazulfa Vanilla extract is real vanilla flavour extracted from the pods using alcohol and water. Vanilla essence is just a synthetic flavouring.
Vanillin is the most dominant compound in vanilla and is easily synthesized. But there are about 100 different chemicals in a vanilla pod that are responsible for the vanilla flavor. Making all of those from petroleum would be ridiculously expensive and hard.
Vanilla essence is just the British way of saying vanilla extract, but they are the same.
@@joycegallowayparker9652 No
@@ubvrox Yes, it is. Google it, as I just did to be sure I was right (and I was). They are the SAME thing, but those in the UK call it "essence" and those in the US call it "extract".
@@joycegallowayparker9652 Not at all. google it, as I just did to be sure I was right ,and I was.
Vanilla extract is extracted from vanilla beans, and essense is synthetic.
this looks great, but how much grams of gelatin pouches equal to one leaf?

Great video. Thanks for sharing hope you do more recipe videos. 😊
Je ne sais pas si c'est authentique mais la musique et le montage sont excellents.
Love the music .. love the panna cotta
Very entertaining video. Thank you
Vanilla granules are very heavy that's why you see all the vanilla granules accumulated at the bottom of your mold. To avoid this happening next time take your Panna cotta mixture from the pot directly into a bowl and not into molds>> Let's the mixture partially set in the fridge, not completely though you want to be able to whisk it >> then after some time give it a whisk to fully distribute the vanilla granules throughout the mixture >> then get a piping bag and start filling up your molds this is how you avoid all your vanilla accumulating at the bottom of your mold. Love the Video non the less very similar to mine Keep it up bro 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽

wow!!!! Amazing video!!! I will definitely be trying this. Thanks for sharing....and omg that song!!! Everything of this video is ON POINT
Instructions unclear, the Panna Cotta ran away after betraying a mob boss
lol
True ....1 leaf gelatine is not enough
Exactly 8 grams of gelatine is needed, so 8 leaves of gelatine. 1 leaf used in the video was not at all enough ! Totally following your instructions made my panna cotta totally runny (disaster) ! my wife laughed at me instead of being impressed :(:(:(
i like how on person in the comments got the joke
@@invisible9445 yep lol kill bill
I love your editing! So fun to watch!
FINALLY a vid that uses ALL CREAM. Hallelujah!!!!

I used your recipe for an anniversary dinner. It's chilling in the fridge right now. I can't wait to try it!
Did it set with just 1 gelatin sheet?
@@theenglishtree5022 I ended up using one packet of gelatin powder which should be equal to 3 sheets of gelatin.
Great video...great recipe

Love the music, and enjoyable experience to watch.
Great style, music and presentation - makes it all the more tantalizing. ...yum! Hoping you do a Mexican "flan" video!

i love the video ,,thank you i will give it a try.
Love the video, please make more.......
Can you use powdered gelatin.?

Very good video ... fantastic ....
Was wanting to learn how to make panna cotta and your recipe and the best I've seen ..
So I 'll tell you reproduce the result.
Brazil!
Great video and great recipe! Although i had to reboil and put a second sheet of gelatine for it to hold together. I even got to eat it all by myself, my girlfriend wouldn't touch it when she saw the amount of cream!
Amazing editing, song and no doubt, recipe too... 🔥
This video was so much ahead of its time
I loved thanks for posting!
I'm kinda stupid: Was the vanilla bean pod removed, or did it dissolve? And is it good without the rum? Would an Italian likely use rum or something else or nothing of the sort. Thank you for this video. Loved it.
This is amazing!!!! You've got to make more!!!))
Quite addictive and love the presentation, choice of music and overall - a prefect idea!!!
Thanks for the great vedio.
Looking forward to see more ^^
Best video presentation I have seen ever!
Wow, amazing video.
