Miriam is my favorite, too! She's hysterical, and so (rightfully?) aggrieved by Zipporah taking her thunder.
As a "Hollywood" professional currently working in the industry. I believe your opening statement about The Chosen and how it relates to other less quality Christian media is a VERY important topic.
100%, but I think we're in a season of change. There are a few projects that look incredible coming up.
I thought it was funny, but still trying to find its wheels. It reminded me of so many sitcom pilots that often change and adapt as the show grows. I had no issues with the humor or how it relates to the Bible. The love for the source material is there!
Yeah If this is the worst the show will be, that's a pretty good sign for sure.
The Promised Land pilot was so good. Great to see the range in these actors I'd only seen in The Chosen. And... Chisisi! What a brilliant addition to the story.
I saw the promise land. I love that it came from a totally different angle. I was laughing all the way through. I share it with others in my church they really enjoyed the humor of it. I love that they stuck to scripture.
I also thought it was hilarious how Moses' sons were always "running off" haha... I bet they stick with that throughout the show too, because in scripture, they are only mentioned.
I was impressed. At first when Dallas talked about it, I didn’t except that I will be interested at all. But it’s very well done! Funny in a respectful way.
Chisisi is the best! He's their first convert! LOL Too funy!
"Are we not all part of the same tribe?" was one of my favorite moments.
LOL!!! He totally stumped that dude... I think his name is Korah... LOL and when he chases up the dune... hilarious!
I think he’s my favorite character.
@@BMO_Creativehim and Miriam are my favourite😭😭
I love that Miriam's way of relieving stress is going in the desert and shouting with a tambourine! LOL
I've been following their Instagram for a while now and loved all of the clips they released. I jokingly wrote out a version of this scene of how I thought it could go, where Moses is cheering everyone on and verbally guiding them to safety while he was holding his staff up. The one exception is a guy who stole his goat. Because the thief didn't want to give it back, Moses didn't help him. 😂 Imagine my surprise when the Israelites announce during one of their conferences with Moses that someone stole a goat! I jumped off the couch and yelled, "Oh my gosh someone actually took someone else's goat!!!" 🤣 (BTW I know they completed the show long before I made the comment; I just think it's funny that it's canon that there is someone in the Promised Land universe who has a goat-stealing problem).
I really liked the pilot episode! I can't wait to see how it grows. Chisisi immediately became my favorite character.
PS: I think someone is a Spongebob fan because they screamed, "MY EYE!!!" during the battle scene. 😂
I saw ads for this, and thought it looked like they might be making fun of the Bible. Happy to see that isn’t the case.
I love it, very funny, especially when the scene the guy shakes the hand of the other guy, and wonders if he is circumcised or not, looks down hesitation.....hilarious 😂
whenever I've read those passages of Moses standing there with that rod over his head, I often thought that seeing from the battlefield had to be hilarious. Opening the show with that story hooked me.
Chisisi is a surprising & funny character. I'm looking forward to this show exploring more of the humanity of that journey to the Promised Land.
I enjoyed the pilot, especially the Egyptian soldier that comes out of the Dead Sea with Moses and the Israeli people. 😅
That was very funny.
"Mosis, not MOSES" made me laugh haha
Yes he’s totally my favorite character for sure. So funny!
I liked it
That pilot was hilarious!! Loved the show
Super funny, well-done comedy. I am excited to see more. To add to your comments, if I may, it's not like The Chosen because it's not associated or affiliated to it. Sure, some of the cast and crew are shared. That happens a lot in filmmaking. Mitch says that he also has learned a lot from Dallas and Amanda getting to work with them. However, Dallas nor The Chosen has any say regarding the production. I think it's super important to make these distinctions. This is the creation and hardwork of Mitch and the rest of his team, not Dallas or The Chosen. It's not to say they don't get value or benefit from working on The Chosen, especially as far as promotion, building an audience, and cast and crew. I just don't want to see this show get credited to anyone else who really had nothing to do with it. I also don't want any negative stuff that could come up from The Chosen to get dumped on this start-up and vice-versa simply because people mistakenly believe they are connected.
I loved the pilot! I was never a huge fan of The Office or Parks and Rec , but I do like this. I'm looking forward to when season 1 actually comes out. I watched the live stream with Mitch Hudson and he said they will be filming in the fall, after The Chosen stops filming so it's a seamless connection for those who are doing both.
I loved it. I had seen the trailers for it, but seeing it and realizing that they were being respectful at the same time as being funny--that just made me love it even more. And Miriam...😂😂😂
The show was funny! I look forward to more episodes! 😁
People need to stop prefacing The Chosen as the Christian X... its hands down some of the best story telling, camera, acting, sets, effects... it is up there with mainstream TV/streaming TV...
I say this as someone that is real picky about what I watch... I DO NOT watch (I live in UK) TV, ie, BBC, ITV, CHANNEL4 etc...
i get that lol
Before I watched it -I thought that I would feel a certain way about it being a comedy- BUT when I watched the pilot, I LOVED IT!! The way it's informative while being a light-hearted comedy was amazing... 2 great big thumbs up!!
I'm so glad you're doing breakdowns of The Promised Land. I loved the pilot, and laughed a lot but it also taught Biblical lessons. Can't wait to see more of your breakdown and thoughts. Also can't wait for more TPL!
The Chosen raised the bar for Christian media, and I'm glad they are helping other Christian productions learn how to do it well 😊
I really liked it. Especially loved Jethro and Moses bits at the end it was so sweet ❤
Loved it!! Excited for more episodes. 😊
I loved it! (yes, I really loved “the Office,” too). I know it will be a while before we see new episodes, but I’m totally looking forward to seeing more! Very unique telling of the story of Moses and the Exodus from Egypt! 😊
This looks like something worth watching. I love the humor in the clip. I'll be checking it out for sure. 😂😂
Absolutely loved the pilot!! Shared it with my friends. Soooooooo funny 🤣
I knew I recognized her! I just couldn't put my finger on it. I'm enjoying the show it's super funny.
I laughed so much when it first came on. Love love love that this is on. Thank you for your review and scriptural significance. 🧡
I think that it's a good thing that actors who worked together on The Chosen are also working together on The Promised Land.
This was actually funny! I was skeptical at first but so glad I clicked on it & watched.
I rarely watched sitcoms because they weren't funny (to me)...this was good. I hope they continue - I'm now a fan 🌺😁
I can’t wait to hear your breakdown of this movie or series. Enjoy all your videos. Thanks for putting them out
I don’t think Dallas Jenkins will be losing much sleep over this one ! I honestly in these days and times do not find the Bible humorous !
The only disappointment that I had for this show was when the "camera man" put down the camera to help Joshua lift Moses's arms for him. I was really hoping there would be a moment when the "camera" would drop, and it would actually be shown to be papyrus or leather and writing tools. That would've been so hilarious, since that's how events and stories were recorded at the time. Oh well, I'll just pretend it's not a real camera. I love Miriam and Joshua's characters so far. As well as the "secret" Egyptian soldier lol.
An Egyptian soldier attempting to live among the Hebrews without exposing his true identity, got me hooked.
I'm so glad you'll be covering this show and focusing on Scriptures as usual, Brandon! It's helpful to hear you say that the Bible is not being made fun of, as I wasn't sure whether or not I'd like to watch it after watching the trailer. I could use some humor and laughs!
Thanks for the great info on the promise land, I will check it out later today. Thanks for all you do.
Love ❤that you are doing deep dives on The Promised Land. So thrilled that they stayed true to scripture while making characters realistic, likable and funny.
So glad you are reviewing The Promised Land. I love it so much! My favorite is the Egyptian who got caught on the wrong side of the Red Sea. So hilarious.
I love comedy and mockumentary style shows, so I love this!!!
I watched the Promised Land a couple times already and loved it! I hope it hits big and keeps going!
Saw the trailer😂it was funny. Especially with Miriam and Zipporah 😂❤
Reminds me of the old movie Holy Moses starring Dudley Moore. LOL.
My son and I loved the pilot! We watched the Livestream as well. Can't wait for more episodes
It was hilarious! I adored it. Glad to have a few more options.
Moses wife and Miriam scene was hilarious
I would love to see this office/moses crossover!! Thanks for sharing this
Thanks Brandon! So many new Christians really appreciate your explanations so that we can “get the joke” along with everyone else. This pilot episode has definitely sent me to my bible researching God’s Word. Would you please address his sons in your next video (I still don’t get that one). 😍
It's a running joke. They are often mentioned, but never seen. Other sit-coms have had similar characters who were spoken about, but never seen, e.g.: Norm's wife, Vera, on the show Cheers.
Saw it LOOOOOVED IT. CANT WAITFOR THE OTHER EPISODES. Only thing is you have to have a certain type of funny bone to love it. Fortunately for me I have that nrand😂😂😂
I love this new show! Interesting to see other aspects of The Chosen cast.
I enjoyed it! I know a lot won't, and that's fine, but why not learn from scripture in a different way. It may even draw in more people into reading scripture more. That can always be a good thing. I do hope they stick with God's message, and I foresee the writers doing that! 😊
Watched it multiple times, can't wait for more.
I am just really happy that they are talking about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And they're doing it in such a very tasteful manner. "Chosen" in my opinion is one of the best biblical stories in my lifetime. And I truly appreciate the series so so much.❤🙏🏽
I was JUST gonna comment yesterday wondering if you were gonna breakdown this show or if you and Vanessa were gonna do a reaction video to this show. I watched the pilot on July 1 and I can't stop telling people about it. I recently watched it with my dad and he also thought it was funny. This whole episode was so biblically accurate. I loved Miriam and her tambourine music - "Song of Miriam" I cannot wait for more of this show. It will be so awesome to have more episodes. The character Chisisi is such a brilliant creative hilarious choice. Korah already thinks he's in charge. Accurate Zipporah. Joshua...just Joshua. 🤣 I love all of it.
I loved 😮this !
The Egyptian sneaking in 😍
I was kinda scared of the concept because i didn't like the office but it was very good and funny so i am definitely going to check it out.
Sounds promising. Thanks ❤❤
loved the pilot!
I didn't think I would like it... but it's exactly what you have said!! 😊
The chosen Sleuth: what about “Jesus of Nazareth” movie with all those Academy award-winning actors by Franco Zeffirelli? That movie was outstanding…
Never got into the Office here in the Uk. Rminds me a bit like Monty Python. Hur is very like you Brandon 😂😂
The Promised Land had me concerned because Bible and comedy don’t usually mesh. My mind goes to Bible being made fun of.
This episode was pretty funny and even had nice life lesson to tie into a theme. I also laughed quite a bit, especially at the retired Egyptian.
I don’t know how I feel about Joshua being the “Dwight” of this story. 🤣. Joshua scripturally was a powerful guy. So having him portrayed like this just weirds me out, but it also cracks me up 😂
I'm all for humor.
However, I cannot bring myself yo watch a parody of The Exodus, nor Moses trying whatever elses they show him doing, as I don't think anything that had to do with Moses was even humorous.
This is a man, who literally went through hell, for Israel, only to be kept from seeing The Promised Land.
I just cannot bring myself to watch something that 'mimics' this, as it was utterly tragic in life.
Oh yeah! I watched the pilot the day it came out and didn't know it was sorta the same team as The Chosen! I thought it was funny.
Reminds me oh the character interacted with audience in Fiddler in the roof. Classic. ❤
I LOVE IT!!
Sorry, not for me but, I wish them well. ❤
Loved the pilot
I cannot wait to see more episodes
I LOVED it! Soooo funny!
I was very impressed with The Promised Land. I agree with you about Christian media, it’s subpar, to say the least. It’s so bad in fact, segments called Christian Movies Are Funny exist for the sole purpose of talking about how bad Christian movies are
I LOVE this show! ❤
Looks like fun!
I loved it:)
Definitely agree with Christian media being a little bit ho hum and boring. A lot of these films have actors with little or no experience who are friends or are related to those who are making it which doesn't help make it good. Even when they have well-established actors the writing is below par. Hopefully, with this new wave of Christian shows and films, things will start to improve.
Hmmm ... I'll have to give it a look
I haven't watched The Promise Land series yet, but it looks more hilarious then serious! Kind of like The Office!
Hi Brandon. I watched the pilot episode and it wasn't bad. I've never watched The Office or the other show you mentioned, so I don't have those to compare it to, but I'd like to keep watching more. I like that so far, it's Biblically accurate
Yes Amen I agree with you chosen is the best Christian movie about Jesus ❤😂
Great fun and I hope people don't panic when details do not match the bible, or "poke a bit of fun" at people or events
0:47 I have yet to hear your say on The Kendrick Brothers films (Facing the Giants, Fireproof, War Room, Overcomer). I personally put it, perhaps about 3 to 2 notches below 'The Chosen', but not 3/10, particularly how they spoke to me then and recently.
I’ll watch and make my own decision. Thanks
Good morning Brandon
This popped up on my algorithm a week ago so I watched it. At first I got the humor but later felt they were mocking scripture and The Chosen. And I have a very off beat sense of humor. 😂
One piece of correction, Moses was an old man in his 80’s when he led the exile out of Egypt. Many Christian film/video interpretations depict him as a younger man in his 30’s or 40’s. I never understood that.
The livestream with Mitch explained that the aim is to create 40 episodes funded by investors.
Yeah 40 episodes and a feature !
It's fun. No need to be critical. Just watch it and be entertained.
I was a little hesitant at first but it’s really pretty funny 😂
It's funny. It's hard to imagine Joshua as a great warrior because he's such a goofball on this show.😂
we'll go over this soon for sure lol!
No because as I read this scripture for the first time I kind of found it funny imagining poor Moses trying to keep the staff up 😭😭
So far, I don’t think I will be interested in watching it
I thought the pilot was hilarious. My husband isn't even Christian and he has enjoyed both The Chosen and this new series.
Hello Brandon. Della Warren here
New to the channel, you're kind of like a Christian version of ComicsExplained lol. I'd like to know your thought on the TV mini series titled The Bible from 2013.
People can support them by visiting the Promised Land store, links in description.
I loved God's not dead. I only saw the first one. But we all like different things.
I loved it!!!! It’s so well done!
It is not funny to me at least. Trying too hard to be The Office but with Moses. I am sorry, but thumbs down. I did not like The Office either. That said, I wish them well. Thanks for covering this. I bet it will hit the funny bone of others.
I think that’s the whole purpose, I think it’s a good idea :)
Same here. I really hope Dallas makes his own verison of the Exodus, because that "Promised Land" is just bad.
@@TiberiousGreene Good ideas that do not actuate as good products is failure. Without execution, you can have all the good ideas you want. Mark my words, this show is not the same caliber in writing and production as The Chosen. But hey if you like it so be it
I don't care for this take on Moses
👎
You said this is one of two you are excited about, what is the other?
Coming soon 😉 we got our first look at the other one coming up
Looking forward to it!
Where can I watch it?
Their youtube channel @thepromisedlandseries
@@TheChosenSleuth
I thought it would premiere on a major streaming platform as it clearly deserves so. Thanks.
I’m sorry I won’t even watch a comedy about Biblical stories! The Bible is not comical but serious
How much do you have to pay for it...?
It's a channel on RUclips. It's free.
