We mange a 54 unit building and my co site manager and I will install toilet ourselves. I love learning new things but not under this time pressure. Thank you so much. Yea, HUMANITY 😆

    The Oatey reinforced wax seal you used, is that type better for a flange that's a little below the floor? If you placed the seal fairly centered, place the bowl down, pressed down all the way around, the bottom of the bowl should be pretty much on the floor? Thank you. Used the same reinforced wax seal but the back portion of the bowl is higher than the front. That's after sitting on the bowl a little bit. I didn't tighten the bolts down as I thought the seal may have shifted. Thank you

    • @AroundTheHome1
      @AroundTheHome1  Месяц назад +1

      The wax should push down fairly easy. If one side of the bowl is not sitting down all the way then it does sound like something went wrong.

    • @j.lietka9406
      @j.lietka9406 Месяц назад

      @@AroundTheHome1 I tried the Oatey reinforced wax seal and the bowl didn't go all the way to the floor. So I tried a regular wax ring. The flange is slightly above the floor. When I placed the regular wax ring on the flange part of it stuck to the plastic cover and ripped apart. I got two new rings and hopefully to-day I can try this fiasco all over again! I pushed the bowl down with the torn ring - I sort of pushed back together - and the bowl went smoothly to the floor. I don't want to leave the torn ring as it might leak. Thank you 🤓

    It’s a lot easier to set the bowl if you take the tank off it is much lighter and easier to handle and you should also put a bead of some kind of caulking underneath the toilet

    • @AroundTheHome1
      @AroundTheHome1  2 года назад

      You are right about taking the tank off. It is much lighter, but then you risk fighting with rusty bolts and an old tank to bowl gasket. I mean, if you are planning on doing a full toilet rebuild, more power too you. I personally don't like to caulk the base of the toilet because if it starts to leak or something you can't tell because the caulking keeps it trapped under there.

    How do you line up the hole at the bottom of the toilet with the hole in the floor?

    • @AroundTheHome1
      @AroundTheHome1  3 года назад

      That's a good question. You just line up the toilet / flange bolts with the slots on the toilet and the drain holes will line themselves up. Thank you for watching. Check out hundreds more of our videos at www.aroundthehome.org

    • @AroundTheHome1
      @AroundTheHome1  6 лет назад

      Sorry, I do not. They do make many flange repair units that can bolt on right over your existing one. That is normally the easier path. Thanks for watching, and I am glad to help. Don't forget to stop by our website www.greatwhiteninja.com

    Before your set the toilet scarp any caulk off the bottom. Easier to clean for new caulk then after it's set. 😉
