Things, seems especially guns, aquire a sentimental value as time goes by. The older we get, the softer we get about things like that; but other issues, oh we get way harder about those. Hey Willie!
Good evening CW. That’s awesome. I don’t think I’ve ever owned that caliber that I can remember or ever seen one. Thanks for showing this my friend something new for me. 👍👍👍👍👍🙏🇺🇸☕️
CW, Over the yrs. I've noticed Weaver mounting screws are to long or the holes aren't drilled deep enough and one screw will work and they others are not holding anything . How I check is to put one screw in at a time and check if mount is tight to barrel . If not then I have a screw filing jig to file screws down to fit . And do each hole separately for a screw. When I have 56 Contender barrels , I've seen it All ! Sorry if you already knew that . Keep the Great Videos Coming !
EXCELLENT POINT YES!! This is part of reason a video on actual process is best! I forgot to mention!! I dont snug down individual screws until all screws are in. Looking for a too long or other obstruction. EXCELLENT EXCELLENT TIP!!
I have one of those that I put together because I knew a guy who was loading that caliber. Been years since I fired mine. Only one factory load and that is probably unobtainium these days.
Usually I watch most videos on the 3x5 phone screen. When I saw the TC & in 7x30 Waters I knew this one was for the big screen. 😂 Took me awhile but was great on 52in screen. Great caliber on a great looking rifle for a great reason. You done good!! 🙏 👍 👊
I'm glad you enjoyed it, sir!! I have a number of videos on this caliber. It was my late wife's favorite. I used it last year and collected the first book of the season with it. It's a cherished firearm. 🙏🙏❤️🩹❤️🩹
That must be the special gun for you ,sir . I have allways liked those. It has good reputation here with steel tarket shooters and Lappland birdshooters.
Awesome Ryan! Whats your firearm? My first was a 14" Contender Bbl. Then a 21". Both on Contender frames. Sold off both. Just got this one. Ill have a 14" again one day.
@cw2a Contender carbine with a 16" ssk barrel. Setting it up for my son to use for deer this year. Put a Vortex Viper 1-6 on it, will be running a suppressor (more so for recoil control than sound reduction) and likely 113gr Hammer copper bullets that I just ordered. Have been getting the gun as well as my boy dialed in with a variety of bullets and it just shoots so sweet.
@@ryanweidner6828 that sounds awesome! I use the 14 inch on a couple deer in a couple pigs and my wife use the 21 inch on her one and only dear she harvested.
That was the reason I bought the second Contender I have. I wanted to make it a carbine. I never did as the stock and barrels are a little pricey so I just have two Contender pistols and four barrels. I have my Encore Hunter for my rifle. I'm ready to see you test some loads now that you have it together. Thanks.
What a great looking rifle cw. U tell are buddy @BigE you got it he will all hyped. 😊. What a great looking rifle and with the history 👌 you have with caliber in set up will surely pull hart strings brother. 🙏
@cw2a he's has own discard channel I talk to their lot off in own. Are personal messages when some got quick loads check say a load done few times for 242 win for me for stayball.
@@cw2a I had 6.5 TCU, .223, and 44 mag barrels. My 6.5 TCU was my favorite. I like the Encore because you can get a 16", 24", and 26" barrel. You could setup a short carbine in .308 Win or a long barrel for 7 Rem Mag.
I've had a contender carbine in 7x30 waters for many years. With a 130 grain flat-based spitzer bullet it will shoot 3/4 inch groups at 100 yards. A light, handy deer rifle for smaller sized folks, or for me if there is a bunch of hiking involved!
@@cw2a So sorry for your loss. I'm getting ready to fire form some 30 30 brass into useable 7x30 cartridges. Midway had a great price on factory second 7mm bullets, making it a bit less painful to fire form. I've a friend who's daughter is a tiny thing who loves hunting but can't manage a full sized rifle, thus I let them use my carbine.
I been looking for one for awhile also . Just lost one could got if was able make a trade for it. Was a 357mag one with a 22lr barrel & 7mm TCU barrel.
That thing is going to shoot!!!!! Just wanted to stop in and say that there is definitely something to breach loading cast. I dropped the charge to 31.0 grains of imr4320. No pressure problems so I can proceed in charge weight. Even still the group wasn’t bad 1.5” like the book says. Imr 4320 seems to perform better at the higher end of the charge weights. But as you said never trust anything or anyone. Do it yourself self and proceed with caution.
I love a CW video first thing in the morning! When school is not in session I have my first cup of coffee each day with you. You just confirmed for me that I've been mounting scopes correctly for a long time. Do you use locking compound on the plug screws? I know your going to make that 7x30 a real shooter.
Same I got a H&R single shot in 243 win. Barrels know crazy expensive and hard to find. I past a nice one up recently with 357 mag barrel and 7mm tcu and 22lr barrel
7x30 Waters is like the 30-30 a fantastic cartridge ! Had a T-C in 7x30 years ago. Took several whitetails with it. Thanks.

Very nice CW ! Excellant explanation on mounting and installation. Always learn a little something from your vids.
Thanks Tim!! Im just tryin ta help! Thanks for the visit! 🤘🏼❤️🩹👍🏼
My go to rifle for whitetail Is A stainless contender carbine 730 waters. Yours is a beautiful example , beautiful old early stocks too!
I haven't seen the stainless. Only Armo-loy guns.
Really liken this 7mm!!
Thanks for the video. Bought my first Contender in 1982 same year I started reloading. Found a LNIB 7x30 Super 16 about 15 years ago Great caliber!
Good stuff thats awesome man This caliber is special for me for few reasons.
Those marks just gives it more character and tell you it been used...... 👍 nice looking firearm CW!

One of the very best tutorials on scope mounting I've ever seen anywhere. 😍

@dbmail545 Yea I haven't seen this in nearly a decade. Luckily handload it is easy!
@dbmail545 Im excited I just found and bought a 21" 22 LR Match barrel!! SQUIRRELS BEWARE!
Good looking setup with the contender. Thanks for sharing the information and the video.

Nice rig! I'd love to have a Contender but up here in Canada they are hard to find and really expensive!
Sorry to hear that they ain't cheap here!!! These barrels are 300+. I was VERY HAPPY to find this for cost it was!!!

220 swift with a 24 inch barrel would be sweet. Single shot varmint cartridge doesn't drop for 1000 yards with a good scope whew ! 3800 to 4000 FPS .

I sold my TC Contender in the 90s -- I want another one. Also an Encore in 25-06.

Owned several contenders over the years, wish I would have kept one

Afternoon CW!

The best!!
