I OWN SEVERAL TCs. Having worked for Brownells as a Tech. I took my first shot on a deer, this December. Using my TC Contender Gen2, 20" MGM SS barrel, Leupold VX6 Firedot scope. Ranged it 153 yrds. broadside, Firedot on the scapula, Boom!!! Down!!! My late Dad a gun collector and being blessed to hunt with almost anything I want. TCs all day, every time!
I have a TC Encore S.S. camo stock in 280 Remington, also have TC Contender 6.8 spc bull barrel and extra 22lr barrel. Deer hunt with 6.8 spc. Great tree stand gun. Both guns are beautiful and exude quality. Very accurate and simple. One shot one kill.
22:11 Even though I now have the Compass II in .308 Win, seeing this guy with the Encore Pro Hunter .308 Win make a perfect shot was great. Looked like a brachial plexus shot, which is good. Drops a deer right where he is standing. Great if hunting near other property. So many people think you have to hit the heart and lungs and I have seen deer run 30 to 100 yards on the last breath and the last heartbeat. Sometimes, in the "wrong" direction.
i love how you line up your sights and then make a little noise so that it can stay still and then take the shot i see that in almost all the hunting videos i c
Vector Rector My uncle hunted whitetail deer for years . Whenever he encountered a buck in close he would make a grunt sound . This would usually cause the buck to pause for a few seconds and raise their head to see what made the sound .
Be sure you keep proof of purchase on your T/C or they won't help you at all. had to have a Pro Hunter chamber cleaned up due to a bad finish reamer from manufacturing. Didn't notice this until I started reloading which was 10 years after purchase. They basically flew me the bird with a "Sorry" to boot. Liked the 308 Win Mag description when they showed the pistol.
Want to know One of the main reasons I'm not completely sold on TC Encore and Contender Rifles and pistols? The replacement barrels are twice the cost of replacement barrels on other rifles. For instance, a replacement barrel on a Remington 700 in 308 Winchester is only around $200 from most major custom shops. A TC Encore replacement barrel is almost $400! That's ridiculous. If they want to get more people interested, they need to price their barrels accordingly. You can buy a Henry Single Shot for around $250 and that's the whole rifle!
Now take that $200 R700 barrel and have it installed, timed, and finish reamed. Your $200 barrel just turned into $600. I have two encores. Barrels range from 200-400 and take a screwdriver and 1 pin to replace. No finish reaming, no headspacing.. swap your barrels at the range.
I bought my Thompson Center Encore pistol with 10" 7mm-08 Remington barrel in 1997 brand new for $350. I've had over a dozen true (Made in Rochester, New Hampshire) Thompson Center Encore barrels and I've never paid more than $185 brand new for each rifle or pistol barrel.
@@yooper7753 I have to say that as a Canadian, there are not too many times I wish I lived in the U.S. but when it comes to my favorite rifle, my Encore Prohunter, getting barrels, and custom work done, you guys in the states have it made.
Looking to set up for a prairie dog hunt in multiple calibers 17HMR, 17WSM and 223 and the Pro Hunter sounds like it may do the trick. One question, do these forearms need to be bedded for accuracy? I like the idea that I can just add a barrel if I want to go 22-250 or so. Thanks for the video.

Lol... Yeah, turkey loads are very very stout.... Especially when it's a single shot, because they are lighter weight, and have no bolt or receiver to soak up recoil.
I have a T/C contender and Encore with several barrels in several calibers. It is much like the potato chip commercial. I bet you cannot shoot just one.
I LOVE this concept, but I don't understand why its $800, more more. that being said, I'd pay 350-400 for a 3 gun setup, a rimfire, a rifle and a shotgun. Or at the very least make it easy to get other barrels. Rossi did it right but they weren't popular enough, and NEF aren't producing them anymore. It's hard to find a hunting gun when you're in college lol.
What I don’t like is that they make a product and tell you to check your local and federal laws. You would think a company would already know what state or federal laws could be broken by converting a rifle into a pistol.
You're 100% right. It's technically a felony to buy one as a rifle and later swap it to pistol configuration. However if you buy it as a pistol it It's legal to swap back and forth per a 2011 BATFE ruling. Do your research. Why doesn't Thompson or S&W tell you this? Notice she held up a pistol and talked about converting it to a rifle. It sounds ridiculous but it's the BATFE we're talking about.
False the original Thompson Center Encore was first available in 1997 and it wasn't the Pro Hunter version. The Pro Hunter didn't become available until the 2000's. I bought my original blue Thompson Center Encore 10" 7mm-08 Remington brand new in 1997 for $350. The only real Thompson Center items are stamped made in Rochester New Hampshire. Any Thompson Center item stamped made in Springfield Massachusetts is actually a Smith & Wesson product. Smith & Wesson bought Thompson Center in 2007.
Well your off by about 17 years I had a blue with synthetic black stock which I still have today and I got it in 1985. And the encore came out in 1983 not 1997.
@@umami0247 Wrong, since you said 1983 I'll let you know Wikipedia is wrong too. Thompson Center (T/C) had a rifle called TCR-83/87, but it's not the Encore. It was a close idea, but not the Encore. A nice trophy AND plenty of venison stew. Or add some chopped up chorizo and make a ciervo chili.

Laws always change so we want everyone to not assume and be safe that way. Appreciate the feedback
That wasn’t directed at you guys. More so at Thompson center.
It’s a liability issue. If you give “legal guidance” then you assume liability. Much easier and safer to tell others to check local laws
How long would the video be if they listed all the silly laws for all 50 states? Check yourself.

Hunting is not Kosher and even Gentiles need to follow what the Old Testament says about correct taking of an animals life.
Hunting is about Sustainability of many assets to benefit many aspects.
