I love my contender G2 and my Encore. There are so many barrels and calibers available. The versatility is amazing and the rifles are incredibly accurate.
MGM (Match Grade Machine) makes excellent barrels. They specialize in Thompson Center barrels. Custom chamber reaming is available at no extra cost for standard calibers (17 through 50). The one I bought (used) is in 338 Win Mag 28" and it is so precisely accurate. Not a fan of polymer stocks, but it allows me to carry a back up rifle in my pack in the back country. Also, if the weather conditions are poor I can scabbard my Ruger #1 and preserve it. The simplicity is wonderful. Thanks for the tip about aftermarket stocks, I will certainly check into it. Great production sir, I was starting to think I was one of the few enjoying this firearm. If you ever tire of yours let me know.
Dizzying array of barrels. For many years I owned "Contenders", and the performance from any TC barrel I purchased was outstanding. I know the "Encores" have been around for the past 20 years or so. I recently picked up one with a number of extra barrels included in the deal. According to its former owner, it originally started out as a pistol frame and he had converted it to a rifle by adding a butstock and a different forend. I now have one frame with a wide assortment of accessories and barrels. Very versatile and accurate single shot that can be used for just about any type of game. Thanks for the fine video and enjoy your Encore.
Thompson center has always made great stuff. Never owned one, but my neighbor did and i have shot one several times. I would love to find a rifle like that! Great video sir!
I have that same 204 ruger barrel in stainless. Sent it to Bullberry Legacy to have a muzzle brake installed, pinned, and welded to meet ATF specs. They also have a beautiful collection of Walnut stocks.
I've had a Thompson Center single shot on my wish list for about 20 years. I finally got an Encore chambered in 30-06 with a 28" barrel a few months ago. I haven't taken it to the range yet, but I have a batch of handloads waiting for testing once I get the scope zeroed with some cheap factory ammo. Maybe this weekend?
I'm probably over a year late, but please share your experiences with the rifle so far. I'm honestly curious. Was it a good purchase? I'm looking at buying one, and maybe an extra barrel, for next year.
I love my T/C Contenders and Encores. I have had them since I was old enough to purchase a gun on my own and lived through all the generations of them. For me since the 80s but my dad has had them since 1968. many actions, barrels, and combinations. If you wanted to the encore could be a one gun system for mice up to dangerous game. We used to be able to switch from rifle to pistol without concern but lately the federal gov. has taken issue with that. Not that it matters to me, I have multiple actions designated for each. It is hard to beat its ability to be accurate and be able to create any look that you want to achieve.
Hi Jim - You must know just about all there is to know about these. I know the Encore a bit. Prior models such as the Contender - I don't know much except they were just as versatile. I like my Encore in 6.8 SPC more than a lot of my rifles - just wish it had a walnut stock. Thanks for writing and take care!
@@UnitedStatesOfGuns T/C is a vast subject with many chapters. I know a little because I literally grew up with them. They have some limitations especially pre G2 and Encore. As far as accuracy and interchangeability I have always found them everything I needed. A company called BullBerry has very nice stocks available. Link below. www.bullberry.com/custom-t-c-woodwork
I bought my stainless muzzle loader in 1998. It is the most accurate gun you could imagine in a muzzle loader configuration. I have a 300 Win Mag and a 270 Win in custom barrels for it. I also have a second ML barrel for the wife to have fun when we shoot together.
I think the fact that there is an aftermarket for people to put some really nice furniture on this rifle speaks well of its action and accuracy. When it comes to Thompson/Center I think of their traditional Hawken rifle. They are well made guns with great lines and were a significant part (along with the film Jeremiah Johnson) of the muzzleloading resurgence in the 1970's. Sadly that gun has been discontinued, but its legacy is felt whenever there is a new convert to the holy black.
I like how simple it is to. With wood and blued steel it wood be great. My father had a contender with several barrels when I was a kid. Back in the 70s contenders were very popular. This encore is very nice 👍. Thanks Mike
@@UnitedStatesOfGuns I really like the interchangeable barrel on a very accurate platform. I know my father's contender was a tack driver don't see any reason why the encore would be any different. I could have a 22lr for cheap fun for me and my son and also a 243 for dear and target +++. You could conceivably hunt rifle, shotgun and black powder cartridge season all with the same rifle. Not the character and beauty of the Sharp's or High Wall but very versatile and cool. I also love that you can customize them with different finishes on receiver and Barrel and multiple stock options. Thanks
...I've wanted an Encore for a long time... ...decided if I saw one with an interesting barrel...I would grab it... ...it happened...won an auction...came with a TC barrel in 416 Rigby...
I believe the creedmore barrel was the factory barrel that came on that rifle. I have the blued and walnut rifle with a custom shop 25-06 barrel, a custom shop 209x50 muzzleloader barrel, a factory .308 barrel and an MGM .338WM barrel. Absolutely love it. I'm so sad it's gone forever.
Dream rifle you have and the 25-06 is one of those incredible cartridges that people don't talk about these days...who know why. Good on you for knowing what's what.
Mike, I'll bet you'd enjoy looking at the patent drawings, and going through the written description. It's Patent Number 5,680,722. My own Encore "collection" includes a 22lr for off-season practice, plus a muzzle-loader barrel, plus my real pride and joy, a 30-40 Krag AI made by EABCO. I recently made an oversized trigger guard for mine to use with bulky winter gloves, and this rig has officially become my favorite. Thanks for sharing your own enthusiasm, and of course for another great video.
Wow - 30-40 Krag - now that is a banner idea! Excellent. I like the sounds of that guard too. These are flexible and winners in every way. Thanks for the note.
Great video. Added versatility with your 460 S&W barrel as you can shoot the 454 Casull and the the 45 Colt through the same barrel. Love the channel and keep up the great work!
Hi Alex - Thanks for the note. I had a look at a population map and of course you're sight - Canadians are all clustered near the 49th - the border with the US. Sad as it is the North and the rest of Canada that is really magnificent. Stunning country and the government doesn't establish cities throughout the country - strange but common. Here is a funny number Alex : Canada has about 4 people per square mile - if they used their land - statisticstimes.com/demographics/countries-by-population-density.php Anyway - I'm way off topic - the Encore Black Powder if fantastic. Thanks for writing and take care.
I have a encore 12 inch barrel in 44 magnum, and 15 inch barrels in 22-250 and 45-70 gov , I do know for a contender with a 6.8 spc, 223,204,30-30, 7-30 waters ,17 hm2 and 410 shotgun waiting for a price off him ,so versatile
The 460 is s@w to. From my understanding you can shoot 454 caullas and 45 colt in the 460 but check and make sure I remember right. The big Ruger is the 480 Ruger which is a shortened 475 linbaugh or something like that one of the custom high power revolver makers. They tc if I remember correctly make a short barrel modle in 460 and 450 Marlin it started with a K if I remember right.
It's the only gun I want to hunt with. I hunted Africa plains game with my Encore .50 caliber muzzleloader. I can print 3 touching holes at 100 yards. I put in a Bell M trigger spring kit; it's now a 2.5 lb trigger.
That little 6.8 is not a bad round. I built a ar in it. Just for dealing with crop dammage at night. It holds plenty of ammo it's easy to load/ unload when you have to cross a public road going from field to field. And with it having all most no recoil you can keep you eye on the animals ( mostly hogs) to see where they go down. That little 90 gr bonded golddot sp. @,2800 fps. Can put a hurting on hogs up to the 250 lbs. Range. And I think it would make a good home defense gun/ round. Less noise and blast than the 223 with a heavy/ bigger bullet With less SD to cut down on over penetration. And all most any one could be traind to use it safely and effectively.
I hope people read your post. I have messages from several that the 6.8 is obsolete - it seems like a fine round to me; even with the 6.5 Grendel, .300 Blackout and others around. I still like the 8mm Kurz though - so maybe I'm a little off.
Another great review, Mike. Thanks very much for sharing this with us. Excellent point about it being the last firearm to face confiscation, perfectly timed with what’s going on in Canada. Great stuff 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼!
Thank you my friend. Hopefully the government will face significant opposition - there must be far more gun owners than pipeline objectors and First Nations are fantastic gun owners and hunters - going back to long before the Europeans showed up and wrecked their hunting grounds. Taking away guns from First Nations peoples is yet another and maybe final insult.
Thanks Mike for the revue on the Encore. 6.8 SPC has intrigued me since it came out. I have a Contender that has been a joy to hunt with since July of 76. One of my favorite barrels is a 30-30 Ackley Imp. It is great for deer and elk hunting in the mountains.
Hi John - That's a cartridge I've been interested in for a long time. Good to hear that it is a fine working round on deer and elk. I'll get that barrel - I hope : )
MGM will make pretty much any barrel you like, so long as it's safe for the Encore action. EABCO tends to have a fair number of barrels already made to ship, as well as accessories. A fellow named Mike Bellm knows pretty much everything (he says that too) there is to know about the T/C products. I have 5 frames including an older Catamount framed Contender so as to not run afoul of our (US) SBR laws when using handgun (fewer than 16") barrels. As my shoulder ages I find myself leaning toward 6mm, 25 and 6.5/260 caliber chamberings. MGM made a 25.35 for me and it's "one ragged hole" and a pleasure to shoot. Boyds makes some very nice wooden stocks for the Encore line. Don't know if Bullberrys is still around. However their products are top quality too. BTW, T/C also made a very nice rifle named the TCR. The "Aristocrat version with fine wood and double set triggers is very elegant. Anyone who appreciates single shot rifles should certainly take a look.
Great post - I like my Encore more and more; need one of those proper stocks though - thanks for the tips. What a great idea : 25-35 - a favorite of mine as well. The whole rig is so compact, accurate, convenient and versatile - as you know. I owned a couple of Aristocrats - great rifles. I had one set that had a rifle and a shotgun barrel. I think the deal was '06 and 12 ga. from memory. Having no judgement, I sold them and now watch for one wherever I go.
I really like my TC Encore Pro Hunter. I will attest to your accuracy comments. It also is the most versatile firearm I own. I have two 20 GA shotgun barrels (I'm old), A muzzloader barrel and numerous rifle barrels. The smallest caliber I have is 223, and the largest is 375 H&H. I do have a 460 S&W Katahdin barrel which will also shoot 45LC and 454 Casull. It may come to pass that we could be taxed on every gun we own. IF so I will own one gun the TC Encore.
Brilliant selection of barrels. The tax on guns sounds extreme. Reminds me of the Stamp Tax (Stamp Act 1765) That's okay though - it all worked out : the Stamp Tax was so sickening it resulted in the Declaration of Independence (among other things.) Thanks for the note.
@@UnitedStatesOfGuns The TC Dimension is another interesting one MOA rifle. It is a bolt action with the capability of accepting 10 different barrels in four caliber "families". Changing barrels and calibers is a snap with the included tools. The range is from 204 Ruger to 300 Win Mag. Sadly TC has discontinued production due to insufficient interest by hunters. I prefer to take fewer rifles and more capability. I would love to see a review by you on the Dimension. PS: Your channel rocks.
Amazing - has to be the most versatile rifle/carbine. Plenty of other rifles with extra barrels but T/C must offer the greatest number of different calibers. Thx for the note.
I owned one for a while it’s actually a good firearm.. black powder just wasn’t my forte too lazy I guess but if your a black powder type person you will like these rifles
I am very interested in picking up one of these platforms, nearly endless possibilities. If you enjoy the 6.8 Spc you should look into the enhanced version. Mad dog Weapons developed it (27GPC), you can still shoot the factory 6.8 cartridge in it, but with the blown out shoulder you will get considerable more velocity and also be able to use heavier projectiles.
Hello mum243 - thanks for mentioning; I heard of these before but can't find one. As soon as I can get one I'll make a video. Appreciate the suggestion.
The Icon were way overbuilt full of custom rifle features but they never caught on because of the cheap fast food rifle market. If anyone gets a chance @ an Icon their great rifles with incredible accuracy.
Isn't it amazing how guns just happen to "fall into our hands"? Like we don't even have to look and bang, there they are! 😃 One of these, or something similar is on my eventual list. I mean how simple are they. How easy to maintain, and reliable. Plus shooting single shot forces people to become better marksman.
USOG There's just so many that I want, and so little time (and money). But if you stick to original barrels, these are pretty cheap, right? And how's the price on the after market barrels you got? Are they better than the originals? I'd be getting one for a large calibre, but if I'm getting one, I'd get something like a 223 or 22-250 or something for varminting too, but that I'd want very accurate.
The 6.8 SPC has a significantly lower BC and SD than the 6.5 Grendel. Given a choice my preference is the 6.5 Grendel. It provides much more versatility than 6.8 SPC. MGM = Match Grade Machine
Thanks David - I think they offer the Grendel - I'll see. The 7.92x33 is ballistically even worse - but within the distances I use it should be very interesting. Everything I read about the Grendel is very positive - like most 6.5s - those longish bullets are something.
I have them and within 300 yds it's basically a wash. One does what the other will do. The 6.5 is a better cartridge in single shots and bolt actions but not in the AR. The 6.8 is a better self loading cartridge because it has a superior case design that has some taper to it for engineered feed and extraction reliability. This is the primary mission in a service cartridge and it's where the 6.8 shines. Some only look at published ballistic charts and forum talk but there more to some of these design than meets the eye. Full out highest velocity sometimes is t what a design is always aiming at. Sometimes there's design and performance elements that aren't taken into consideration and aren't widely spoken about.
Sad that H&R does not make the Handi-rifle no more. Probably not as good as the Thompson Center but very good still. When I bought my H&R Handi rifle it came only in the 444 Marlin. Then ordered the 45-70, 270 Win, 308 Win barrels, and the 20 gauge shotgun barrel for it. Now have 5 different calibers for one rifle.
You are way ahead - I wasn't smart enough to order even one extra barrel. I just assumed they would go on being made for.....ever. Wow was I wrong. Good on you! : )
@@UnitedStatesOfGuns Think we were all wrong on that. Never thought Remington was going to take over Marlin and H&R like they did. Who knows about this stuff ? Do remember one thing on what told me to order these extra barrels, by coincidence everyone said at that time Remington is going to take over H&R as well as you know they did, and they said that they were going to discontinue this H&R Handi-rifle and their extra barrels. Then don't remember every part of this, but there were 1 or 2 or 3 reasons on why I got the extra barrels for it, but again don't remember off hand.
Be careful attaching that 204, if it's less than 16", to that frame. If the ProHunter was originally Registered as a rifle you may have inadvertently created an SBR. I picked up an Encore last month in 45-70. I did this specifically because I'm in VA and I figured the same idea that the Gov't would take this one last as its "just a single shot" ... far from the truth. Extremely useful platform.
I like single shot rifles,....I wish something like that would " fall into my hands", it's a beautiful rifle. I do have a simple 'New England" with two barrels one in .223 the other is .22, but the best part of this one is that the walnut stock has a 'bird's eye' pattern, which make's a 'rich' looking grain.
There nothing wrong with the newengland rifles I have had a few and everyone of the we're well shooting guns. And the 45-70 I had in it was a favorite hunting rifle. I had a small tree stand in the middle of a wet weather swamp it was the intersection of my property with 3 naboring land owners. Each property has about 4-5 Acer's of it. So I used the 45-70 to make sure the deer or hog could not go far after a good hit. The little rifle was light short easy to move and did its job every time. What more could you ask for? I lost it and quite a few others in a house fire. Then remengtion bought them out and now you can't get a new replacement..
@@UnitedStatesOfGuns I went on there site again... and not much choices in rifles, Or maybe I didn't understand there system hahaha! but that short one in 45-70 could be nice!! but damn the stocks look awful!!
Which stock are you going with sir? Been looking around at after market ones from eabco and what not but nothing has really struck me yet and we seem to have similar taste. Thank you, love your videos, I’ve spent quite the chunk of my watching em haha ;)!
Hi Brenden - I missed a used pepper laminate set about a week ago - I think I'll go with that unless walnut shows up. If I had to buy today I'd buy the EABCO walnut thumbhole stock set - even with the thumbhole it is one of the more conservative looking stocks for the Encore.
I've got 2 MGM rifle barrel's now,one in 7mm magnum and one in 308 both fluted barrels with both barrels threaded so I can ad on a muzzle brake on then both to fit my t/c encore prohunter rifle and muzzleloader.and they shoot great to with vortex crossfire 2 6/24/50 bdc scopes on the rifle barrels, and a vortex crossfire 2 4/12/44 bdc scope on my muzzleloader barrel to now and there really barrels to now next year I'm going into get them to make me a 45 calber muzzleloader barrel for it to use to cut down on the recoil in my old 61 year old shoulder and get them to thread rather barrel on it so a can put a muzzle brake on it to.and yes a muzzle brake on a 45 calber muzzleloader now!!!!!
Hi Ethan - You probably found this www.tcarms.com/firearms/interchangeable-platforms/encore-pro-hunter They are still making them. If you want a 6.8 SPC you'll have to order a barrel from MGM matchgrademachine.com/product/build-a-custom-barrel/
Smith & Wesson is trying to sell Thompson Center and have stopped production. There are receivers and barrels available. Check Gun Broker. Mike Belm’s sight is a wealth of information on these firearms.
Off-topic question, I recently found a Taurus Thunderbolt in .357 at my LGS. I'm just wondering if you've ever had your hands on one or have ever had one in your collection. Are they fixable?
Hi Hunter - they seem to be fine; I have not owned one but know of two that were reliable and tough enough for action shooting - which involved more rounds than most rifles ever shoot. I guess things can go wrong with any mechanism and if something were to happen - the Taurus is fairly simple and should be reparable. Best of luck!
I believe the 6.8 SPC [ Special Purpose Cartridge ] Was made for the military and now there drifting away from it making ammo scarce probably not near as scarce as 8mm kurz your going for. me I might want to get a Sturm. 44 to match the cartridge and have some real fun. There`s 2 of available on a site right now. But in all seriousness the thompson contender has always been the modern go to for accuracy and interchangeability and the nice wood that usually comes on an upper end gun. H&R tried there hand at it for a while but didnt have the looks or the accuracy to compete in the circuit . try a place callled Ammo Seek .com for 8 kurz it will save you some money. I`d still lean on a sturm.44 for the fun stick only $ 25 k . but you sure can have a lot of fun picking the willows off a willow tree with one
Haha GF - I like the sounds of picking off the willows; hopefully the Encore barrel will be enough - the 44 is nice but price is steep. Someone is making a new version somewhere. Cheers.
I just ordered the Encore Pro Hunter XT from Hinterland Outfitters. It has to ship to my FFL dealer here in California. They are hard to find right now. Another source might be Haus of Guns. They have some YT videos as well.
I haven't had the chance to hunt with or even shoot one. They have always intrigued me though. Can the same receiver be used for everything? Example: Could one receiver be used for a 12ga rifled barrel, a 308, and a 223? I wouldn't buy those specific calibers, it is just a wide range of cartridges. I guess the more appropriate question would be: is the barrel the ONLY thing that needs to be changed? I'm curious also if the same receiver could be used in a rifle format and a handgun format... if that is even legal. I have seen hunting TC Encore handguns with a scope and bipod. I could see where that would be helpful in Michigan.
Hi SRT Mike - as far as I know everything you described would work - I'm just not sure about the 12 gauge - maybe the receiver is big enough - but maybe not. All the other barrels : rifle, pistol, shotgun, blackpowder, long, short - they all fit. Take off the forend, pop out the pin, fit in the new barrel - pop the pin back in and put the forend back on and you're in business. Love these encores. Laws are another story - I don't know where what is legal and it keeps changing. One would have to check. All the best.
You have a great rifle there .. It wasn't until my mid 60's that i picked up my first T/C and it has grown in size with new barrels as time passed .. Mostly i shoot my Contenders in calibers i like .. First one is 30 Herrrett and the second one is 6mmTCU and of course the .44 magnum .. But not always in that order .. In the Pacific Northwest i have only met one shooter at the range who had a 6.8 SPC chambering , nice ctg when you look hard at it for what it is and will do and very accurate .. The 300 Blackout seems to gaining ground here too .. I like the break action of the T/C and have fired them off and on for years , it's only been the passed 12 years that i finally got into owning one..To me there is a lot to be said there .. My 6mm TCU is a 1/2" ctg at 100 yards which i have taken out to 300 yards a few times with excellent results .. I have taken deer with the 30 Herrett and deer and black bear with the .44 magnum barrel installed .. I have not hunted deer with my 6mm TCU ctg just yet .. You have a great rifle there and it's nothing to change barrels as you know ... All my barrels wear the same scope base so it's no problem to swing the scope to a different barrel when i want the 2X-6X scope ..
I hope people read your note - confirmation covering time and experience - these are excellent. Mine says made by Smith & Wesson on the bottom. I hope to find a .44 Mag barrel such as you have. Thanks for writing and good shooting!
@@UnitedStatesOfGuns Some years back S&W bought the Thompson Center holdings , not sure just what year it was . You should have no trouble finding a .44 mag barrel, it's a very accurate ctg and for big game it does very well . Not every shooter and Hunter wants a 500 S&W clambering I know I don't as I have no real need for one.. My next big game i want to hunt is Elk and the .44 magnum will work fine.
With an MGM barrel, Bellm hinge pin and an EA Brown action job, an Encore will be supremely more accurate than a Ruger No1. I own both and the difference is startling.
Indian people's Two rifle purchase non prohibited bore 0.315 or 30.06 . 0.315 cartilage size 8mm and 30.06 cartilage size 7.62.50mm . Please suggest how to right rifle hunting bore.
I own a Contender. If the serial number has an "R" it's considered a rifle receiver. If it has a "P" it's considered a pistol. The only difference between the pistol and rifle receivers is that one letter in the serial number. A pistol receiver can be used as a pistol or rifle, but a rifle receiver cannot be used as a pistol i.e. with a barrel shorter than 16 1/4". This is the law in the U.S. I believe. Yet another lame law.
tried to buy one of these in my gun days and never got there--just too expensive, compared to other offerings (bolt actions of the day) in my area of central texas. just my take, with apologies to encore fans....

"the holy black" - great line! That Hawken was something great - I should find one. Thanks for the note and good shooting!
I like how simple it is to. With wood and blued steel it wood be great. My father had a contender with several barrels when I was a kid. Back in the 70s contenders were very popular. This encore is very nice 👍. Thanks Mike
Hi Brian - I started looking for wood stocks right away : )
I have an H&R handi rifle with a .30-06 bull barrel, .30-30 and 20 gauge barrel as well. Very accurate as well.
I love mine. Put a BellM spring kit in it and the trigger will go from very good to incredible. Get a muzzleloader barrel for it also.
Thanks SF - will do.
Great video. Added versatility with your 460 S&W barrel as you can shoot the 454 Casull and the the 45 Colt through the same barrel. Love the channel and keep up the great work!
Thanks Mark! I have to get out with the .460 and the .454 and the .45 - thanks for the reminder that they all work!
I played with the muzzle loading version, quite popular hunting rifle in canada because most populated area are restricted to muzzle loader only
Hi Alex - Thanks for the note. Thanks for writing and take care.
you should get your hands on some of the newer henry single shot rifles, really impressive
Thanks Brendon - will do - I hear good things.
That's a lot of versatility. I like the .45 Colt - works well in mine.
It's the only gun I want to hunt with. I hunted Africa plains game with my Encore .50 caliber muzzleloader. I can print 3 touching holes at 100 yards. I put in a Bell M trigger spring kit; it's now a 2.5 lb trigger.
They're addictive
I have a scoped 336 that is awesome but I can not get the Marlin hammer spurs to stay put, I have lost two. I am impressed with this Encore!
I had that happen to me - then I got out the epoxy : )
@@UnitedStatesOfGuns Great idea!
Less noise and blast than the 223 with a heavy/ bigger bullet
With less SD to cut down on over penetration.
It is also totally ambidextrous. I would love to see one decked out in British attire. Blue steel and walnut would be nice. A well engineered rifle!
Me too - these could really be styled differently - although I must say this is excellent just as is.
If you Canadians only had a Constitutional right to be armed you wouldn’t be at the mercy of a tyrannical government
You’ll get full cellphone reception out at the range with this stock 😂
: ) hahaha
Very cool! Thanks!
That MGM is a top notch barrel nice scope too. The 460 should be a 460 SW mag.
AWESOME gun and great video
Thanks Marc!
I remember seeing guys shooting 30-30 out of the Thompson Contenders. Or anything. Any caliber you want. I think they had around 50 different calibers
Amazing - has to be the most versatile rifle/carbine. Plenty of other rifles with extra barrels but T/C must offer the greatest number of different calibers. Thx for the note.
@@UnitedStatesOfGuns these where single shot pistols. In rifle calibers
I had one in 30/30 back in the day. A real hoot to shoot. Wife no 1 even shot it ha ha🇨🇦🤠
Make sure you put pistol grip on the 204 barrel. Looks shorter than 16” 3:40
Hi Gerald, I'm in Canada. All good
I owned one for a while it’s actually a good firearm.. black powder just wasn’t my forte too lazy I guess but if your a black powder type person you will like these rifles
Thanks George - I know what you mean.
Consider a pistol caliber barrel just for fun.
I have the encore with Belm trigger upgrade in custom 35 Whelen. Deer hammer
That's the ticket Chris - perfect choice! Happy New Year!
I have 17 barrels 7 of which are MGM and from my .260 to my 444 marlin all are less than min. ang at 100 yards .
Hi DN - Yes indeed - those MGM barrels are superb!
I've been shooting 6.8 spc for years. 100gr GMX is great for deer and hammers coyotes. Not very fur friendly though.
That's a lovely fireaem. She looks real handy in your hands. How does it eject? Automatically or do you have to fish out the spent cartrige??
Terrific! But please let us know what was the 'British' stock you referred to in the vid. Please, and thank you!
Thanks - have a look at these beauties www.bullberry.com/custom-t-c-woodwork
not British - I'll look for more.
Have you ever shot or done a video on the
T/C ICON ...would like to hear your opinion...
Have you checked out the Bergara BA 13 yet?
Hello mum243 - thanks for mentioning; I heard of these before but can't find one. As soon as I can get one I'll make a video. Appreciate the suggestion.
The Icon were way overbuilt full of custom rifle features but they never caught on because of the cheap fast food rifle market.
If anyone gets a chance @ an Icon their great rifles with incredible accuracy.
Thanks UR - some good buys on these.
Nice Score USOG 😀😊👍🏼
Thanks - as always - Chris.
Isn't it amazing how guns just happen to "fall into our hands"? Like we don't even have to look and bang, there they are! 😃
One of these, or something similar is on my eventual list. I mean how simple are they. How easy to maintain, and reliable. Plus shooting single shot forces people to become better marksman.
Hi Jim : ) I hope one falls into your hands too - or you get one somehow - the Encore exceeded all expectations... just great! Cheers.
MGM = Match Grade Machine
Thank you T. Saville - makes sense; hopefully everyone will read your post.
MGM is Match Grade Machine, I think. An offshoot of Preferred Barrel Blanks?
Thank you - I'm just ordering a new barrel from MGM - great company.
The rifling is not conventional, its 5 r and their stuff is match-grade!
I like single shot rifles,....I wish something like that would " fall into my hands", it's a beautiful rifle.
I do have a simple 'New England" with two barrels one in .223 the other is .22, but the best part of this one is that the walnut stock has a 'bird's eye' pattern,
which make's a 'rich' looking grain.
That's a beauty.
full/Männlicher stock would look fantastic on that thing!!
I almost bout a TC a few times lol.... But I like my Ruger #1 better look wise!!
It is true David - the #1 is all class; still, I like the Encore a lot - far more than I expected in the store. Glad I tried it out.
I've got 2 MGM rifle barrel's now,one in 7mm magnum and one in 308 both fluted barrels with both barrels threaded so I can ad on a muzzle brake on then both to fit my t/c encore prohunter rifle and muzzleloader.and they shoot great to with vortex crossfire 2 6/24/50 bdc scopes on the rifle barrels, and a vortex crossfire 2 4/12/44 bdc scope on my muzzleloader barrel to now and there really barrels to now next year I'm going into get them to make me a 45 calber muzzleloader barrel for it to use to cut down on the recoil in my old 61 year old shoulder and get them to thread rather barrel on it so a can put a muzzle brake on it to.and yes a muzzle brake on a 45 calber muzzleloader now!!!!!
are they still making these? I cant find one anywhere.
Hi Ethan - You probably found this
www.tcarms.com/firearms/interchangeable-platforms/encore-pro-hunter
They are still making them.
@@UnitedStatesOfGuns Thanks for fast feedback, it seems like you are the best place for underrated firearms knowledge.
A rifle fell into your hands? Don't you hate when that happens haha. I need to get a Contender one of these days.
Funny wording for sure - but that's kind of what happened. : )
Cheers.

You have to get one Asim - so fine. Greetings to you.
I just ordered the Encore Pro Hunter XT from Hinterland Outfitters. It has to ship to my FFL dealer here in California. They are hard to find right now. Another source might be Haus of Guns. They have some YT videos as well.

I agree. No luck finding yet. : )
@@UnitedStatesOfGuns eabco company might have some check them out
What model scope is on it?
Hi Matt - that's a Leupold - as you know 1-5x
Hello my brother please urgent help me. I buy a rifle. In our indian there are only two rifles one 8mm and one 7.62 50mm please tell which rifle.
Hello Rabi - I would buy the 7.62 X 51
Encore’s are more accurate than Ruger No 1s and are almost 1/2 the price.
With an MGM barrel, Bellm hinge pin and an EA Brown action job, an Encore will be supremely more accurate than a Ruger No1. I own both and the difference is startling.
I like it! ...thanks! 👍👍

Indian people's Two rifle purchase non prohibited bore 0.315 or 30.06 . 0.315 cartilage size 8mm and 30.06 cartilage size 7.62.50mm . Please suggest how to right rifle hunting bore.
Hi Rabi - go with the 30-06
I own a Contender.
Sorry about the misinformation. There is no "R' or "P" in the serial number.
tried to buy one of these in my gun days and never got there--just too expensive, compared to other offerings (bolt actions of the day) in my area of central texas. just my take, with apologies to encore fans....
I know what you mean Greg - and then this one showed up and I realize they are worth the difference; aside from accuracy etc... - so fun to shoot. Hope you find a used one like mine.
