  • Staring at a blank canvas or sheet of paper because you have art block or artist block can be horrible. I know how it feels to have no idea what to paint or draw. I found what works for me and maybe it can help you too. For me it is doing anything and this time it is monoprinting. But also at other times this way of getting rid of a blank canvas or paper can help you get new ideas. But if it is monoprinting, abstract stencil art or template painting or just acrylic painting getting started I don’t know. Just have fun watching this video and me trying out different concepts.

In almost all my videos I use with Winsor&Newton Galeria acrylics, if not, I will say so in the video.
Other materials I use are in random order: 5, 10 and 40mm brushes, palette knives, acrylics medium, Ecoline liquid watercolor, Lyra color pencils, Lyra soft pastels, oil pastels, Stabilo color pencils, paper palette pad and basic masking tape. I also use household items like a permanent marker, scrub sponge, scissors, paper towel, and so on.

I really like this exercise, and I'll have to try it among many of the others you presented in other videos. You also could have used your template, gone back over the lines (in another color if you like) and used it several times turning it around on the same painting. It would make several other shapes on the same painting, but could reveal interesting results. For me, watching your videos can be a good way to wind down the day. Thanks Albert.

Idea; paint on glass for printing.

What if you placed your template/collage underneath clear plexiglass and painted the lines on the plexiglass, then pulled the print? Better yet-use a gel plate.

Absolutely brilliant! I totally regret not getting out a piece of paper to take count. I was captivated by your process, your results and those of the participants of your class. This should be in every artists resources.
