- How about doing it different from last year? The Christmas gifts, the handmade Christmas cards 2020 and even the decoration for the Christmas dinner table? I will show you how to make this Christmas an Artistic Christmas by showing you different ways to create the artwork necessary for Christmas painting ideas. And upfront I can tell you, you don’t need any artistic skills to make paintings like these. After you make them it’s up to you how to use them for alternative Christmas cards or Abstract Christmas cards. Any new and fresh painting ideas for Christmas are welcome I guess. Have fun and Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones.

In almost all my videos I use with Winsor&Newton Galeria acrylics, if not, I will say so in the video.
Other materials I use are in random order: 5, 10 and 40mm brushes, palette knives, acrylics medium, Ecoline liquid watercolor, Lyra color pencils, Lyra soft pastels, oil pastels, Stabilo color pencils, paper palette pad and basic masking tape. I also use household items like a permanent marker, scrub sponge, scissors, paper towel, and so on.

Thank you from all my heart. ALL EVENING ICAN NOT STOP LOOKING AT YOUR VIDEOS.
Hi Rita, wonderful to hear. I hope you have just as much fun while painting. Albert
Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful energy. I wonder if you were not there what could have happened to me!
Hi Janna, thanks for sharing your thoughts and thanks for the compliment. I hope I don't have to worry about you... grab your paint and play. Have a happy day, Albert
Yes I do that a lot, in fact, seldom I leave a painting intact😂 treasure hunting is the perfect way to describe it, soooo satisfying
For beginners, it's a good way to look for nice pieces that they made. It helps them to stop thinking they can't paint. Albert
The choices here are so many. I see wonderful things in these paintings
Thanks Connie, exactly my point. And even if I would try to make a copy of any of them I would fail, so everyone who tries to make one like these will have its own unique version. Also a fun project in case you have some leftover paint. Albert
@@ImperfectPaintings Ok Last night I did this. Nothing as wonderful as yours, but workable. Today it was dry and I used the frame and looked.....WOW I found amazing and very pretty things. GREAT IDEA! Now I will do it in a bigger scale than my test one.
Enjoy!
Hi Albert... as always, really inspiring, and i love the judgment free approach. It gives me a lot of confidence. I find abstract fascinating but also challenging.
Thanks Emmanuel, the more I explored abstract painting, the more I learned to love it. Just keep on playing, I'm confident you'll get the hang of it. It's also fun to do. Albert
Thanks Albert for this useful and playful episode. I am also grateful for sharing the instructive method of using the camera. Wish you a Merry Christmas!
Hi Salim, playing is such an important part of painting. Oh and the camera method was the easiest solution without spending any money😉. And a Merry Christmas to you too. Albert
Hi Albert, well I am happy to know you are called by other artist names, you are surely very talented for people to do this! I for one am so glad I found your post and loving Abstract painting always good to try something new, as for me it's a nice change from oils, watercolor and pastels . As you said have some fun, and I am!!
I thank you for the name of the glue I asked for, I will look for it. Once again Wishing you a happy day.
Hi Maria, enjoy yourself and new materials is always interesting to try. Acrylics is really different to work with coming from oil or pastels. Happy to you too, Albert
You have wonderful imagination, Albert. Beautiful art works!
Hi Clarice, thanks. This way of working is so easy, I definitely recommend it. Bye, Albert
Lovely.
Thanks Dawn, it's really easy, I recommend it. Also fun to do. Bye, Albert
Brilliant thanks
Hi Peter, thanks for this nice comment. Fun experiment to do!. Have a happy day, Albert
I can just to say woooow!
Hi Azadeh, thanks. And you know what? You can do this too. Have a happy day, Albert
@@ImperfectPaintings thanks ,and i wish u too 🤩
And very happy xmass to you .
Knap ! Ik ga het ook eens proberen !😮
Veel plezier met kliederen en smeren, Marie. Het is echt leuk om te doen. Albert
I enjoy your videos!
Hi Sherry, thanks. Are you a painter as well or otherwise creative? I would love to hear. Albert
I was going to comment early on in the video that of all the videos I have seen you do, this one, was the least interesting. In fact I was about to just go to the next one and skip this one. I am so glad I waited the extra few seconds to see what you did with your camera and perspective. I was blown away. Thank you for this video.
Hi James, thanks. Wonderful internal process. Our mind is trained to help us to stay safe. It judges and sends a signal 'you can rest now'. It is at the same time challenging us to decide for our self if we stay alert a bit longer. At that moment you were caught of guard, I love it. Thanks for sharing. Albert
This is a great Way to find inspiration and creativity thank you Great video
Thanks 1milton, and fun to do too. Enjoy making yours. Albert
This is one of your best imo!
Thanks, Enrica. And fun to do for everyone. It can't go wrong. Albert
Just what expected , thanks for the lesson😎😎😎
Hi Rain Cloud, thanks! Bye, Albert
Thank you Piet Mondrian I will definitely give this a try, and a very Merry Christmas to you too.👍🎄🎄
Hi Maria, thanks 🌲 Do try the Piet Mondrian one, it's interesting to do. Bye, Albert
Wonderful. Thanks for ideas and lessons.
Hi Sandi, thanks, you're welcome! Bye, Albert
Leider zu spät gesehen. Habe meine Karten extra angefertigt. Hat mich sehr viel Zeit gekostet...wundervoll! Das mit dem Schwamm muss ich sofort ausprobieren.
Schade, haha. Now you know it for next year. It'sfun to do experiments like this. And the 'Schwamm' is really a good tool, cheap and wondercul. Albert
Hi Albert I think that's what Picasso meant when he said he could paint like a child, freedom to enjoy the process without being too concerned with the outcome. Loving your videos
I also have zoomed and cropped photos and I love some of the prints they are indeed a painting I their own right. Dank you well ?
Hi Just Sayin, thanks for commenting. Yes and playing is so important, trying new things and see what will happen. But also looking at things from a different perspective, in your mind, by zooming in or just by taking a step back. Have a happy day, Albert
Wonderful!!!
Hi Deb, thanks. Enjoy making yours, you still have 8 months to practice 😁 Albert
Hi Albert, what a great idea to make art. You have always something amazing to share. Thank you!
Hi Heidi, thanks and great to hear. It's great fun to share it all with you. Bye, Albert
Albert, this is a great channel you have created.I will be forever grateful sir, thank you. Peace.
Hi Rawdon, thanks. It's a pleasure to have you here. Are you a painter or otherwise creative? I would love to hear, Albert
Hi Albert, I paint and draw most weeks and make simple sculptures from found objects occasionally. I also play around in alternative tunings on my guitar almost daily. During the lockdown and less workload, I have seized the opportunity to amplify my output on my creative stuff. It has been great! and my painting is more organised and imaginative since I tuned into Imperfect Paintings. I am a big fan of Hundertwasser and your video has really encouraged me to paint . Sometimes I will just watch and listen to the videos, as meditation too.
All the best
Rawdon.
Hi Rawdon, thanks for answering. Good to hear you make the best of these strange times, especially on the creative side. I never knew I also have a meditative element, haha.
Keep up the good stuff, Albert
@@ImperfectPaintings Hi Albert. As the last few months have passed at home in lockdown , I have become grateful for having more creative time than before the pandemic. Always learning about the benefits of letting the creative side flourish. A kind of rebalancing of the order of things. Like Rita Bykhovsky in a comment 4 months ago. Well my sentiments too. There is something very calming about watching you paint and a great choice of backing music too. So next up is to watch your video on Hundertwasser, then get the paints out and give it a go. What's the worst that can happen ha ha. chears! :)
Hi Rawdon, thanks. Making the best of the situation is always a good choice. Happy Hundertwasser painting, Albert

Groeten, Albert
Very nice idea Albert! Question : do you need to wait until it is dry before applying each layer of the dots with a sponge? Thanks. And keep creating and inspiring us!
Hi Nadia, thanks. Interesting question. It is what you like, try it out both ways and look for the best result. Acrylics dries quickly, when you apply thin spots of paint even faster, this gives you more control. If you works faster, the paint will be wet and can blend or mix. This can create a nice effect. But when doing this with red it can get to dominant. So again, experiment, play with options and listen to your intuition. This way of working is about 'learning by doing'. Have fun and Merry Christmas 😁 in March. Bye, Albert
Hi Albert, when you are looking through the cut out on your camera I believe you adjust the view finder to close up. Do you then snap a picture of the close up and then print out the close up? How else do you get those great enlarged images on cards?
Your videos are the best. I've just started painting and you make me feel like I can actually make something I can be proud of. I learn so much. Always inspiring. Keep them coming. Stay safe.
Hi Milly, thank you for you kind words.
What I show in the video with the 'viewfinder' is a part of the painting, maybe a bit enlarged, but after that I made cut-outs eith scissors from the painting. Those cut-outs are glued on a card or whatever.
You could 'treasure' your painting and print photos of parts. But the fun of this exercise is that you can do it over and over and make as much paintings/cut-outs as you want. And also anyone can do this. Oh and the paper I paint on is 65x50 cm. A postcard is 10x15 cm. A cut-out can even be smaller. So out of 1 painting-sheet you can easily create 20 postcards depending on your design.
I hope I explained well.
Oh and yes of course you can make beautiful things too. Often it is only how you look at your own printing. See it as what it is and go from there. Albert
@@ImperfectPaintings Thank you for responding. Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas to you too. 🌠
Hi Albert (Sorry I called you as Piet before 🤔) could you please tell me what kind of glue you used to to stick painting on to small canvas, and should it be varnished? Thank you. And have a happy day.
Hi Maria, you named me Piet Mondrian, people at work call me Picasso, I see it as a compliment😁. I use 'Collal tacky glue' if you want to use varnish is personal, personally I don't like a very shiny surface. Happy day to you too. Bye, Albert
The way I see it is that I need to know when to stop the desire of getting something better most of the time make you passed the finish and destroy the work I was looking at you now and see the work finished perfect way before you finished we have to take our time to observe where we are and but the desire of improvement and descovery is hard to control that is why the master's some times paint 2 or 3 different painting at the same time to control the beast
Hi 1miltond, thanks and I couldn’t agree more. It's there greatest challenge. The other side of the story is that by not stopping (or making other 'mistakes' perhaps), other people, maybe you too, see I'm no different. I guess now you/people can learn more. Fail and fail often. Thanks for dropping by, Albert
