So freeing! I'm currently having trouble moving forward in a couple of paintings, so I will do this to free up my mind, and stimulate creativity! Thanks Albert.
Hi Christine, I glad I could help you. Perfectionism can be such a road block for just having fun while painting. What do you paint, if I may ask? Albert
This is a great example of how to create abstract art! Tomorrow I will be participating in a Zoom abstract art activity. I'm trying to get ideas. I'm used to creating mandala art, so this is something new that I would like to try.
@@ImperfectPaintings I have always expressed myself in painting and music, but recently I have been focused on painting. I have way too many ideas sketched out and so little time to make them a reality. So tonight after work, I am setting myself a few hours after family time to do a few projects! You are part of that desire to pick up the brush again! I will forward you a picture of what I create.
Amazing! Your videos are so inspiring Albert. After watching, I just can’t wait to go and try it out myself. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I would love to take a painting course with you!
Thanks Pavlina, I would love to have you all in my local painting course, it really would be fun. I guess these vids are the next best thing. At least we can chat like this now. Enjoy making what you love, Albert
I just found ur videos for several days. I watched some and love ur teaching very very much. I never learned painting before, but I get interest after watching ur videos. I want to learn following ur videos. But I don’t know how to start, like preparing the basic tools. What size brushes and colors should I buy? Do u mix acrylics colors with water? Ha! Ha! I never use acrylics color. How to deal If it dry too fast before finishing or oil color is better? Which ur videos are more suitable for new beginners? Thank you very much.
Hi Lyidia, thanks. Nice to hear you want to start painting. You don't need very much to begin. Bye some acrylics: red, blue and yellow and white to mix. Also a 5, 10 and a 40 mm brush and some paper to paint on. Don't mix with water, your paper will become a mess. And just start. Forget what you have in mind to paint and mostly look at what is happening on your paper, learn to understand what is happening (colors mix, painting too thick or too thin and so on). The video you reacted to is great. Also my most recent one ruclips.net/video/U0eVUuDQaY8/видео.html. This one is about looking around in your neighborhood for shapes. Hope this helps. Just start and continue, it's now up to you. Happy painting, Albert
Dear Albert, Deeply appreciate for your reply. Would u tell me the paper specifications what u use? Ha! Ha! Today l went to the store, then I found many types of paper.
Hi Lydia, (I see all comment and read every reply so I deleted your other message where you wonder if I read it.) Good question but difficult to answer. I live in the Netherlands and use drawing paper, 200 grams 65x50 cm. Is is a paper with a smooth surface but no sealing on it that can be used for color pencil, oil pastels, acrylics and other material. But I don't know how it is called in other countries so you have to ask in your local shop with these specs what they gave. Buy a sheet of the types they suggest and see what works best for you. I don't paint on a canvas because my house would fill up pretty quickly 😁. Don't hesitate to ask questions, it's part of every learning process. Oh and do checkout this video before to watch the my last one, this one has the exercise explained ruclips.net/video/SxH1gMHn6EI/видео.html Albert
Interesting question. My favorite color is orange. But when painting I'm into Prussian Blue for Mark making or in combination with white, wet on wet. So mysterious. Albert
Hi Mojdeh, thanks for asking. I guess it will work the same for oil paint. You only will have to wait longer before the paint will be dry and you can cut the paper. When you try it, let me know. Bye Albert
I watched a youtube video in which Albert van der Zwart drew shapes on the back of a sheet of paper and then cut them out to make an abstract painting. I can't remember what was on the other side of the paper and I can't seem to find the right video. Can anyone help please?
So freeing! I'm currently having trouble moving forward in a couple of paintings, so I will do this to free up my mind, and stimulate creativity! Thanks Albert.
Sorry to hear you have trouble moving forward, Chris, this exercise is definitely fun to do. Albert
Wow! You are an amazing artist. Thank you for teaching all of your great ideas. I learn so much from you.
My pleasure, Diane. Anyone can do this. Just take the time to actually do it. It's a fun exercise. Albert
I am going to try this right now!
Thank-you, Albert!
