Training like an Olympic Swimmer for 42 Days

- I trained like an Olympic Swimmer for 6 weeks. In this swimming challenge I train with an even split between swim sessions and gym sessions, trying to replicate what a swimmer would do, specifically training for swimming speed in short distances and sprints, trying to improve on my 50m freestyle sprint.
This is how it went.
Thanks for watching and I appreciate you,
Sven.

Man dude this inspired me to get back in the pool. Your story telling is elite dude
Thanks a lot man, glad it helped as motivation 🙌🏻
To become fast in the water and develop as a “sprinter”, 2 workouts per week will be enough for you. Swim at 100% MAXspeed 4x35 and 1x50 with a free rest for 10' minutes after each time🤙🤙I have progressed so much (25sec>23sec) and am moving on to follow my dream.🕊🕊
I'm interested in this. You take 10 minutes rest after doing the 4x35 and 1x50 combined?
And other than that, no other distance in your workout session?
@@SvenVee for example 6x50, after every 50 meters you actively rest for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes you go back to swimming for a 100%maxspeed of 50 meters. this workout develops your central nervous system and muscle regroup. but still first warm up 1000~ meters, then work set
I'll give it a try, thank you!@@diassalamatov863
yards or meters?
As a sprinter you should be doing 4 or 5. Springing requires a lot of muscle. Caeleb dressel trains 5
This is motivating me to go and try competitive swimming seems a lot of fun. My dad is a professional freediver and has a lot of trophies so maybe he can teach me a thing or two. But thanks for motivating me🙌🏻
Dude, im so glad to see a similar story, despite that i have 0 basics and started only when i was 28. I do breaststroke, after 3 years of training (100hr/yr) on my own with elderly folks in the public pool here in china (you know, kinda bad water quality), im now almost hitting so-called National Level 1 Athlete for 50m breaststroke at a 35sec.
Man it's hard without instructions and pro training, but that desire and love to do it better keep me going. Really hope to see myself entering 30second for 50m breaststroke😂in my life...
thats so amazing
coming from a competitive swimmer, its really hard and you train a year to drop maybe a tenth of a second, but you did a great job for 42 days! great video, very well made and very informative as well
Well done bro 👏
Proud of my little brother 💪
Thanks bro 🙏🏻
Most of the gym sessions are used for mobility. The elite of the elite swimmers are training mobility 6+ hours a week. Volume training creates more fatigue than results. The best thing to do for sprints is to practice “slow” swimming/ perfect technique and building up to fast swimming, only going max effort 1-2 times a week to allow the CNS to rest. The gym you never want to truly max out bc it’s not the goal
Keep pushing those limits 🤘
Yessir 💪
Amazing video Sven! It's so great that you share your love for the ocean. Swimming is such an amazing sport and it's lovely to see you enjoy it, keep going with these great videos. If it doesn't bother you, I'd like to give you a suggestion, a tip for the next videos: Basically, you could try inserting some comic and funny stuff... to give everyone a pinch of humor that, in the world of swimming, can never be missing. Now, I don't think much of it, but the first thing I could think of in your sport might be peeing in the water. Once, my uncle, who is a scuba diver, peed in his wetsuit during a long diving session and that moment was absolutely funny, he even wrote "I’m peeing" on a waterproof notebook during the session. He has always been telling me that there are 2 types of divers and swimmers: those who pee in the water and those who lie. I know it may sound strange as a request but, in my opinion, these are moments of happiness and carefree that always make everyone smile. I hope you like the idea and I hope you have a wonderful day!
As a competitive swimmer, ur dive is wayyy much better than mine 👏🏾👏🏾👌🏾🏊🏾♂️ I've gotta improve that. Nice content
Thank you, and you got this! 🙌🏻
you should try learning the brad tandy start it is perfect for momentum
@@preston907 didn't know that term, I'll check it out, thanks!
No problem I use it my dive is easily the best part of my stroke and I can dive to just over the 5m mark
Good going bro - you gotta do the same when you hit your mid 50's, which is where I'm at now. All the best. Mark
Haha yeah i imagine it might be a tad more difficult then to sprint fast but interested in doing traithlons too in the future!
@@SvenVee It is - our metabolism naturally slows down - you know this. A guy 77 in the UK just hit near 30 flat. That's going some. Wishing you success with future plans.
@@WyeExplorer That's crazy impressive! Thank you, you too :)
@@SvenVee It is for that age. Cheers.
Thanks for your video, it gives valuable information on how to get better. 🏊♂🏊🏊♀
Glad it does, thanks for watching!
Great video!! I'm competing upcoming weekend after a long while as well, pretty curious about my speed :)
Thank you! Ah that's awesome, good luck and let me know how it goes 😀
@@SvenVee went pretty well, 24.98 on 50 fly (pb was 25.77) and 10.30 on 25 free.
@stephan8345 damn man that's great, congrats!
Well done! Thanks for the video. Your underwater dolphins could use a bit more flexibility in your hips to get more of a hip drive. And if you keep your feet closer together, you can create more propulsion, less drag and engage your core muscles more.
Thank you, and thanks for the feedback, I'll keep it in mind 💪🏻
I would love to get sub 30s for 50m any tips?
I suggest you try throwing your back leg upwards in your start, don’t pull the back leg behind, it has to start from a 90 degree motion, and you should try windmill technique. Your stroke is beautiful but it isn’t the most appropriate for 50 free
I bet you go under 25.5 if you do those tweaks
Windmill technique will let you have a higher tempo and maybe try and rise that kick frequency, you got under 24 in you 100%
@@leonardotemer9775 do you have a good resource for me to check on this technique? I might do another challenge in the near future
@@SvenVee sure, this is brett hawke, César cielos coach(wr record holder in the 50 free) ruclips.net/user/shortsiNmQsf6o2IY?si=0GpsgghITBw3UtrR just make sure that you catch while your other arm is in recovery phase for higher tempo
@@SvenVee this one has more depth into the freestyle stroke techs and it’s strategies ruclips.net/video/QJLe4_er_og/видео.htmlsi=NhbkQny2yWlY8BIh
considering u had no taper and no fastskin and u beat your best time id say the challenge was very successful
Good point, thank you so much 😄
Interesting video mate! Did you do your own programming? Be interesting if you followed someone else’s plan and see how that affected things
Thank you! Yes I did my own programming. Will prob do another swim challenge later this year but with more professional help and see how that changes things 🙌🏻
@@SvenVee greetings want to ask you about a video you did some years ago ???
Nicely done! Are you planning on trying sub 26 seconds? 😁
Thanks! I am considering it 😄
My best time is 27,55 im 16, is that good?
Ready set go??????
100th like!
I appreciate it 🙏🏻
26 seconds😂 I’ve seen 10 yo faster
Love that for them. I support all young talents in sports 🤙🏻
Whats ur time bro
@@ckertom433 23 high long course 22 high short
@@AM87422S nice! Great time, can you post, currently learning and wanna see how I can improve technique
Hey put some respect, he left swimming a while ago and probably is rusty, if he hadnt quit he would probably go 21 seconds in a 50 free
