@Tiffany F. I think obsession would be more accurate. His mom is way beyond a mother's "love." She really said that she thought Brittani's family would want to be 100% sure.....WHAT?!? 😳 This woman would see the results of a paternity test and insist her son wasn't the father because the test is only 99.999% certain 🙄 She feels something for her son but I agree with you that it's outside the scope of a mother's love.

At the same time sometimes it can be genetic. Like if a mom or dad has it, you most likely will get it too. And in general this is a very stressful situation. He literally was living this fake good family guy life for years and then finally got arrested. He must have thought he was invincible and that it wouldn’t happen. Like all psychopaths think. However luckily with technology we can do so much. I imagine him being stressed as he is losing out on everything especially his kids. This is his own mistake though. I really do think he is some kind of psychopath. Because being able to do such a gruesome violent thing for no absolute reason and then just live on, have a family and try to act like a perfect citizen.. This guy is messed up.

The eye color memory is easy to explain. I had an abusive ex who had sparkling blue eyes.... but when he was mad & in a rage, they would look dark brown or black because of how large his pupils got and the way his lids would be half lowered to glare. I have a distinct memory of a time he was about a foot from my face choking me & looking right into my eyes.... but I remember his being black , not blue. A lot of people have had similar experiences i found out later. The pupils dilate when someone is on the attack so that they can see better & take in their surroundings.
At 22:10 you can see a pissed off Justin after his arrest, glaring into the camera. His eyes don’t look green at all, they look brown.

Justin didn't fight back! Oh man is that a HUGE mistake in prison. Its one thing to get beat up, its another to not even put up a fight. You don't want to be seen as weak in there or everyone & their brother will be shaking you down every 5 seconds- especially when they know you have mommy sending you commissary money. I guess it was easier to be tough as a much bigger & stronger guy with a shovel against a weaponless teenage girl.
P.S. I have to say that I seriously doubt that guy beat him up out of sheer altruism... The little twat probably just pissed him off at some point.

Saying it doesn’t matter why undermines all of the times women are killed and will be killed in the future by a stalker or someone they turned down because we wrote it off saying “the reason why doesn’t matter, he was a psychopath.” The reason why ABSOLUTELY matters especially if we don’t want this to continue to happen.

It's...it's an unknown murderer who somehow was able to get Justin's blood (from where exactly?) & they broke into the house, beat up this girl who they didn't really know, deliberately broke the window on their way out trying to run from the incoming cops but still inconceivably took the time to take that stolen blood out of whatever he was storing it in & plant a single drop of it so Justin would be blamed instead of the unknown individual. Imagine being a 30 plus man, with 3 kids, and saying to an investigator:" I have to call my mommy first and then maybe I'll call you back". What the hell?? Are you 3 years old? Act like a man and own up to what you did! You ruined a teenage girl's life! I can't fathom being a full grown man and attacking a 17 year old girl! That investigator is awesome and it proves that if you are patient and do not give up hope, it is very possible to have a breakthrough.

I hope Brittani has a long, happy, healthy life. And I'm so glad she got justice.
Yeah this guy's a mama's boy and a dingbat but he knew he was guilty so of course he would lawyer up if law enforcement pressed hard enough.
He did do one smart thing, which was not take it to trial where he probably would have gotten an even harsher sentence.
18 years, (9 with good behavior) isn't CLOSE to enough IMHO but I think it's probably the max the judge was allowed to give.
Idiots like Chandler Halderson took it to trial and the entire defense was "he didn't do it. We didn't know who did. the end". Shayna Hubers got a second trial for her murder of Ryan Poston and got an even worse punishment (life in prison without parole when she initally only had 40 years (could have been out in 20).

Did they even search for finger prints?? I'm confused as to why they were only able to find the drop of blood.... bad police work.

That's the weird part, because in an interview post-charges for Justin, the mother changed her statement to she barely looked at the attacker's face (from it being burned into her mind), and that she mostly just looked at his hands to see what he was doing and holding...
She's never confirmed that Justin is the person she saw at the house (albeit, almost a decade ago), and he doesn't at all match either of the two physical descriptions that she and her daughter gave to police in the slightest (brown eyes, hispanic, no tattoos and bushy eyebrows).
Literally the only piece of evidence tying him to the house at the time of the attack is the strangely "perfect" droplet of blood left at the scene.
