That happened to me at age 16. My UBER insanely religious step-father insisted that I was a drug addict and alcoholic. (I had only smoked weed a couple times and drank 2 glasses of wine, three times. All of that within the span of 12 months.) His religion was insane. If you've heard of the Westboro Baptist aka "God Hates F*gs" church aka the Phelps family? That's exactly what his church was like. He tried to have me committed against my will, too. Lied to the police and told them that I was an unruly teenage delinquent who threatened to kill him and my step-sister. Thankfully I was able to contact my dad and he came and got me. (My dad and I had a good relationship. It's just that he lived out of state.) Because of my step-father, my relationship with my mom was ruined for a few years. (We had previously been best friends.) My step-father had her brainwashed and blackmailed, though. Thankfully, my mom and I made up and became close. Unfortunately, she ended up with an advanced cancer diagnosis and died about 2.5 years later. She had breast cancer, which is VERY treatable if caught early. She never told me about the cancer until it was very advanced and she had to have emergency surgery. My step-father and his idiotic church had her convinced that if she were only a "good Christian" and prayed hard enough, God would heal her. He didn't believe in going to the doctor or using modern medicine. Her cancer went untreated for 3 years because he had her convinced that if she was good enough and it was God's will, she would be healed. The night she died at home he mumbled "I guess it wasn't God 's will for her to be healed." I literally punched him.

Generally detectives will present a story that is easier for the accused suspect to swallow, usually a story that gives them a way to claim diminished responsibility. If they can get them to admit to actually being there, it’s far easier to eventually get to the real story. Its about not presenting them with such a huge leap. It’s basically a tactic to get them talking. Then you can start pointing out inconsistencies with the story.

It takes a lot of courage to take your own life and what people don't understand is that when it gets to the point where someone takes their own life, that's the only way they see for the suffering, sadness, or what have you to stop. My son was suffering and I'm not sure what was causing his suffering and I'll never know why he took his own life, I'll never have that answer and that plagues me everyday. If you are having troubles please seek help please! It's ok not to be ok... before making any decisions about your life find help.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Suicide does in fact take immense courage. Taking your own life is the height of despair, and I sympathize (and empathize) with anyone who suffers from suicidal ideation. Having said that, it is still selfish. By taking your own life, you transfer your pain to your loved ones (something you unfortunately know all too well). This is the reason why I could never justify suicide, no matter how badly I want to be relieved of my pain. I could never do that to my loved ones.

    • @p.j.7143

It's weird, but it does take a lot of courage, plus a lot of unbearable pain and suffering. To the commenter saying it's selfish, often times we think people would be better off without us around. I thought I was a burden and that my family would be free of me.

Interrogators used this same tactic with Chris Watts. They feed the suspect a narrative that makes them look a little less guilty to see if they’ll change their story. It makes their timeline/recollection look less credible.

As a person who would probably go insane without my aquariums and would probably be arrested if someone messed with my very inexpensive, very common freshwater fish hearing about how she messed with his saltwater fish broke my heart.
I've never dipped my toe into the saltwater world because the struggle and the cost is much higher then tropical and I hate loosing a $3 fish let alone ones that can cost hundreds.

Detectives giving an alternative story is a well known interrogation tactic, I’m surprised Kendall isn’t familiar with it. Getting someone to admit to something, even a story detectives give them, is a starting place. Then they can look at the evidence and start disproving it to get to the real truth.

I saw a neighbor throw something in another neighbors yard awhile back (they were fighting/arguing) I called the neighbor and told her what I saw and she went outside to find a hot dog that was stuffed with rat poison. The week prior she had put down her oldest dog bc she stopped walking. That's the biggest symptom for dogs and rat poison intoxication

When i was alot younger, I was in a holding cell, just for over night and my friend was there too...they gave both of us pregnancy tests. Im not sure why that's normal procedure in DC but I would think it would be required to prove you ARE actually pregnant in situations like this. 🙄

I personally see them providing her with the possible s*icide story as their way of going “Maybe this happened?” and when she says “yes that is what happened” they have more evidence to turn around and say “Well we can prove that didn’t happen and that you just lied to us”
Also, it allowed them to arrest here then and there for filing false police report
