Yeah I wished they did the same for minions since it’s a laboratory theme. now it’s just a lame dance party 😅 I wish they kept all the coloring machines and singing birds and made it minions theme that would’ve made my sons experience more memorable just like my yogi ride
Not sure if I’ve said this about this ride before, but the very squishy animation of Don Bluth & the stylized designs of Hanna-Barbera compliment each other so well.
Raphael Marquez I wonder if it’s cuz the majority of their catalog was only being used as stock footage or parody by the Adult Swim crew. They’ve kind of poisoned the well for using those series again (for instance, the comic reviving their action shows had a bunch of people in reviews & on places like TV Tropes complaining they weren’t referencing Space Ghost Coast to Coast or doing a Venture Bros prequel), and as someone who likes H-B’s stuff, it’s kind of annoying.
Well yes and no. Obviously if kids today watch the Boomerang app, they'll be acquainted with the H-B characters, but from a marketing standpoint, they really don't measure up to characters like Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny or Snoopy, which is why you don't see them being licensed for much in the way of merchandise or theme park attractions. Outside of Pebbles Cereal or Flintstones vitamins, or the Jellystone Campgrounds, you don't see H-B characters get much attention these days (Scooby-Doo is really the only exception).
@Dennis Mitchell If that were the case, then the anime boom from the 90's wouldn't be as here in the U.S. because it too uses cheap cheap animation as those old Hanna-Barbera cartoons.
Carmine Crincoli There’s Justice League WarWorld Attack that is similar to Transformers, and Spider-Man along with Batman Knight Flight similar to Harry Potter and the forbidden journey.

I don't know about the rest of you. But given Universal's partnership with Nintendo to make a section of their park with Nintendo themes and characters, THIS is something they could potentially do with it! I mean think about it, a ride where you join Mario and Luigi in a wild chase after Bowser or Wario and Waluigi who have captured princess Peach through the worlds of Super Mario Bros, Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Kirby, Donkey Kong Country, etc. With a potential pre-ride presentation with Mr. Miyamoto himself!
This was a great ride. It also illustrates the one bad thing about Universal Studio’s. They mainly use licensed third party IP. Which means for pretty much any given ride, it’s going to eventually be closed and refurbed into something else entirely different. The rides seemingly have 10 year life cycles where Universal decides if it’s worth renewing. Disney has a small amount of this, mostly in Hollywood Studios (the reason Great Movie Ride closed. Also Rockin Rollercoaster is licensed.) But most of what they have they own outright and don’t have to renegotiate every few years. So they can decide to keep centerpiece classics without the licensing complications. (How much of Universal is Disney owned IP’s now, since the Fox merger?)
The only IPs in the Universal Studios parks owned by Disney are Marvel & The Simpsons. But from all accounts, the Marvel contract is basically permanent as long as they maintain the attractions & continue to include these characters in the park. Whether the contract for The Simpsons is the same is unknown. Universal has plenty of attractions based on licensed IPs though; however, they benefit from most of the licensers not having their own U.S. theme parks, or at least on the level of Universal / Disney...think Paramount owned Kings Landing at one point in time (if they don't still) but its not like they could build a ride like Transformers.

16:14 That is actually kinda sorta inaccurate. The ride didn't get replaced by Spongebob 4D because it was already existing in the same theater on the other side. All the Paramount Parks had 2 motion simulator theaters in the same building, originally their first two incarnations had the same film played on both sides to help with capacity, but by the 2000's they had separate films playing inside both theaters. Great video! What a fun ride. Small correction though, regarding its run at the Paramount Parks (at least at Kings Island, although I'm fairly confident all of them): SpongeBob 3D (not 4D) did not replace the Hanna-Barbera film after it ran. SpongeBob 3D started playing in Side A of the Paramount Action FX Theater in 2003, and The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera was added in Side B in 2006 while SpongeBob continued to play in Side A.
Scooby-Doo was in this ride and all, but that's not enough to have made me go on this ride. I was only a fan of Scooby and the action cartoons (Space Ghost, etc.) So what I want to do is create my own version of the ride that solely focuses on the action cartoons, including my all-time favorite, Birdman. It'll be called "Hanna-Barbera's World of Super Adventure." Who's with me?
Quick correction: Shaggy was voiced by American Top 40 Host *Casey Kasem* not NFL quarterback and Vikings legend *Case Keenum*

Was it Casey Kasem for the voice of Shaggy? I couldn't hear it right...
TimmyWA and what have you. Like, it sure was, man!
Yes it was Casey Kasem! But he says ‘Casey kina ‘ Or something but shaggy was played by Kasem (:
Who else remembers watching boomerang when they were a kid

Do jimmy neutrons nicktoon blast
The rights of Hanna-Barbera are currently owned by Warner Bros.
Yes.
If The Funtastic World of Hanna Barbera return in Universal Studios Japan
Excellent video! I love Hanna-Barbera cartoons! Thank you so much for sharing this. 😀🙌🙌🙌
I worked on this ride from 96-98!
Why tf wasnt this in Hollywood I loved boomerang hannah barbera was my damm childhood
They just wanted a Wacky Races movie ;-;
