Universal Studios Florida is a theme park located in Orlando, Florida, that opened on June 7, 1990, the first of three theme parks to open at Universal Orlando Resort. Two of its early projects were partially developed by famed Hollywood director Steven Spielberg, and many themed attractions over the years were developed in close collaboration with the directors, producers, and actors of the films they are based on. An early layout and design of the park also incorporated active production studios, similar to the Hollywood location, which provided guests a behind-the-scenes look at film and television. Amazing! Thanks for helping me relive it again!
Thanks for watching. I just watched (and liked) your Jetsons essay, holy cow..... what perfection. You're quite mad for committing that much time to watching that amount of Jetsons content. Brilliant.
Oh, hey Eddie!
Didn’t expect to see you here.
One of my biggest regrets in life was not taking the opportunity to go on the Hanna-Barbera ride when I visited USF with my Mom in '97, but I have to say this is a pretty good recreation of the experience.
Same
Aww Poor Elroy 🥺❤️ so glad he could be saved
I absolutely adored this ride as a kid.
There is nothing more beautiful than seeing childhood cartoons lasting over time, and also in an attraction that seems a lot of fun!!!!
Fun Fact:
This was the first animation to use both 2D and 3D animation together. it was pretty groundbreaking for his time.
It certainly helps that the 2D animation was made possible by Don Bluth and his animators.
no it wasn't. 2d and 3d have been combining since the 60s and possibly earlier.
@@originalgrimbob3d animation wasn’t a thing til the 90s lol
@@gwenmloveskpopcecmore This is a very interesting subject to research. 3D animation became mainstream in the 90s, but was definitely in it's early stages in the 1960s business sector.
@@originalgrimbob I believe as the story goes, it was a first for a theme park attraction, but there had been earlier successes in the animation industry.
I never got to experience this, now I’m able to virtually.
With no waiting in line and the room all to yourself! 😀
@@ridetrackx Question will you create and show the opening scene something I remember quite well? Although it's been years ago, and things have changed.
I remember this ride, I went to universal studios florida for vacation back when I was 6 year old in 1997
One of my favorites from opening day. Never got sick of it.
I hope we'll get to see the Jimmy Neutron's Nicktoon Blast recreation.
Well, this was a fantastic surprise. I always hit this ride up, just a giggler. The detail AND love you put into these is amazing. I will admit that I really look forward to any of the atmosphere videos you do (Great Movie Ride and Universal 1990s Entrance), but these ride ones (especially this and Back to the future) are like revisiting it without all the old VHS recording quality, stray noises from yelling children and a lot of lost tourists in all those videos. This is not only like the "source" it is pure, and I can watch and rewatch. Brilliant.
Thanks. That is the perfect description for this classic ride... "a giggler".
I remember riding this ride! This brings back memories.
The animation on this ride is nothing short of impressive. The blending of 2D and 3D animation on a ride like this at the time of its creation is incredible, and I wish more modern rides had this style of combining 2D and 3D.
I hope they bring this ride back someday
This is awesome! I really miss this ride, it was so much fun!!
I been on that ride it was Yogi’s Big Rescue at Mall of America. When I was 12 years old.
I was just 2 years old months before this ride closed.
I rode this attraction at DollyWood, where it was titled "Yogi's Wild Ride"
this is soo cool to ride its like the 80's!!
Thanks, I will now ride it virtually.
I've Heard that The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera was an Awesome Ride at Universal Studios Florida.
It was I loved it as a kid 😊
Yes, for many reasons. The ride used the most popular universe of characters at the time, together in one ride, the first to use a combination of 2D and 3D animations techniques, the new concept of using a "motion theater", and an interactive post show based on the franchise universe. The experience was an instant hit.
And it was .
@@ridetrackx What happened in the postshow?
@@ridetrackxCan You Also Do Nicktoon Blast, Please
This…..okay this is extremely amazing ouo
And surprisingly exactly alike from the looks of it
I miss the old Cartoon Network
Great job😊
This ride pre-dated Cartoon Network by about a couple years.
@@nicksorenson940 I think they were just saying because Cartoon Network originally aired a lot of the Hanna Barbera cartoons.
@@eviltom17 Yeah, they did. Obviously they started straying away from that more and more since shifting their focus towards original creator-driven cartoons, but at least they introduced Boomerang to be their new go-to channel for more classic animated content.
Then, there is MeTV Toons, which also has classic cartoons, especially the Hanna-Barbera ones.
I miss the old CN too.
Please do Jimmy Neutron’s Nicktoon Blast Queue, Pre-Show Ride and post show next! :)
I'm surprised companies don't see the demand for these rides being preserved through media.
Imagine say disney released a dvd collection of their rides to enjoy at home ; or maybe save the footage so they can use it in a vr project or something.
It's literally an untapped market!
Thanks so much for preserving this so everyone can enjoy this again and those who didn't have the chance and finally experience it!
💯I say it all the time. It makes no sense. And when they do, like the dvd extra release of the Back to the Future ride, Universal didn't restore it, color correct, scale it correctly, or create the correct ride vehicle interior. They just slapped it together and called it a day. That is partially why I do these recreations. I hope one day they will put my BTTF recreation to shame, until then I'll just watch mine!
@@ridetrackx I can remember reading some article back when Jetsons: The Movie was coming out on DVD for the first time saying that Universal was going to include the video of this ride as an extra similar to how they did with BTTF, but they never did. In fact their first DVD release of Jetsons: The Movie turned out to be an extremely bare-bones release that didn't even include a scene selection menu.
That said I've always had some sentimentality for the film as it was one of my earliest childhood animated movies that wasn't from Disney, so I was probably one of those few people who was somewhat excited to know that it wasn't going to be stuck on VHS anymore and was glad to own it on DVD even with it being as bare-bones as it was.
This really brings back memories. Thank you for uploading the video. I'm actually amazed at how you got the surrounding area look like how the ride looked.
Thanks for watching. Lots and lots and lots of research from grainy old photos, videos and promotional material. Even then, many corners were cut but, shhh, don't tell anyone.
Great upload of this! 👏
Nice addition of the simulator room.
Amazing
It’s a major shame that this closed down
You only having 88 subscribers is absolutely criminal, your work is immaculate! Instant sub
Thank you, that is a huge compliment.
This is amazing please do more.
More to come.
Judy Jetson: Hey, where did I go?
Rode this a million times, never noticed she was missing until recently when I was working on it! 🤔
@@ridetrackx Maybe this was during the events of her spin-off, she has her own events so that was why he didn't help out saving Elroy.
Don’t forget the half the scooby gang missing too lol
@@rexrabbiteerkinda surprised Scrappy isn’t there, since it was mostly Scooby, Shaggy and Scrappy together during this time.
@@Dinosaurprince Scappy was hated
I think you should do Jimmy Neutron’s Nicktoon Blast next.
Nice work. You did good recreating the motion simulation visually.
Thanks a lot. It was little back and forth testing until I found a good visual feel for this format.
This is awesome and brings back memories! Well done!!!
Thank you. Nothing more satisfying than unlocking good memories.
I remember watching this years ago very very impressive 2d animation but dated CG
The same could be said about the Jetsons movie from 1990 as well, but then it's just one reason why people say that traditional 2D animation just holds up and ages a lot more gracefully over CGI.
No wonder, that 2D animation was done by Don Bluth.
The people who runs Universal Studios Florida nowadays should've still kept The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera around to this day instead of having it replaced by Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, because it's rides such as this that today's generations should be enjoying when they and their families go to the Universal Orlando Resort.
I understand, but if future generations aren’t visiting the ride as much, Universal would have to choose something more marketable to the future generation to draw attendance.
This ride came out before I was born
so cool, Fantastic work yet again!! 😍
Thanks, this might be my favorite right now.
Can you do a video like this for jimmy neutron
neat
Hey, this is really cool! It's exactly the kind of thing I've been looking for and I hope you do more of these! Especially for rides like Kongfrontation or Countdown to Extinction that don't rely on ride films. Projects like these are going to be the only way to preserve the artistry of these experiences.
there is a start to this ride a small show of them explaining how 2d and 3d are made with i think a live actor
1:40
Anyone want to explain why Barney was the primary driver for Freds vehicle?
Also this is the closest to competent Dastardly and Mutley have ever been if they're flying was incredibly erratic
I rode that ride before it closed.
R.i.p. Willam Hanna & Joseph Barbera.
Amen.
Amen.
Amen
Currently watching Tom and Jerry created by them
😀😀😀😀
Kids please remember to fasten your seatbelts, Yogi Bear is not the world’s best pilot.
1:39 Yabba dabba doooo!
If you listen closely, almost throughout the entire ride, the audio has an echo.
Great job! Could you also find any pre-show videos of this ride?
I just might.
@@ridetrackx Can you please upload all of the pre-show videos of that ride to RUclips as well?
I wonder if that ride is even still around after all those years.
It’s not
@@gwenmloveskpopcecmore Dang...
@@StarWarriorRobby yeah Jimmy Neutrons ride replaced it but it closed in 2011 and replaced again by despicable me minion mayhem
Request: Mickey's PhilharMagic
That would be a great one to recreate, and it's actually in my top 5 favorite them park attractions. However, the focus of this channel (at least for now) is to recreate attractions and rides that are extinct.
I hope he makes one of jimmy neutron’s nicktoon blast next
Aww man, this gave me all the feels! Definitely remembered this ride as a kid. Is the ride still there ?? I haven't been to Universal since the 90s
Glad you enjoyed the video, but it's long gone buddy. Closed in 2002. Even it's replacement Jimmy Neutron's Nicktoon Blast is gone, closed in 2011. It is now Despicable Me Minion Mayhem.
@ridetrackx damn! Well thank God for youtube and people like you that do these type of vids!
Do it 360 so i could see it in VR
Thank you for bringing back a Nostalgic Ride for a person riding POV.
Is it Possible if you can make the Queue Video before entering the ride of The Funtastic Hanna Barbera's Ride?
The one where Yogi and Boo boo talk to Hanna and Barbera as they show the animation of drawing Elroy.
There's very few or Rarely any that shows that queue Show section...
Thanks for watching. Yeah, that's a tall order at the moment. I very much want to and building the room is the easy part, but without finding a full and mostly clear video of all three screens used, the experience would be incomplete. That said, I'll continue to check the internet and maybe one day I'll be able to find them.
@@ridetrackx Well, There is "one" Camera Video that shows Full portions of the Queue Show. ruclips.net/video/tNc7N8XVB9A/видео.html Can that Help?
Sounds like Dick Dastardly was voiced by Tom Kenny here, otherwise everyone else sounds pretty on point
Good ear. The original voice actor was not as healthy and declined to reprise the role.
Is there a VR version?
Even if you don’t have the soundtrack for the ride, do you think you can recreate Snow White and Her Adventures 1955 version?👸🏻
Yogi
This was a good ride and Nickelodeon was great too but minion mayhem literally destroyed these icons. It literally has no purpose to be on the parks minions always ruin everything good.
What about nicktoon blast?
I dont get 2 things; how can the animation be so good for its time? And how come they removed this ride?
1. Don Bluth was involved.
2. They replaced it with the Jimmy Neutron ride because the Nicktoons at the time were considered to be more modern cartoons and thus "more recognizable to kids" (even though I'm sure that kids could still know who these characters are just from watching CN or Boomerang, especially Scooby-Doo). But I suspect another reason could be because Hanna-Barbera wasn't under the ownership of WB yet at the time they developed this ride since they were still an independent animation studio, which was why we also got the animated Jetsons movie and live-action Flintstones from Universal. They became absorbed into WB animation when William Hanna passed away, who was in the queue video for this ride along with Joseph Barbera, so maybe another reason why Universal would have thought that the ride had now become dated.
@@nicksorenson940 thanks for all the info. Probably would still be nice if they rereleased this now. Maybe some day
Where did you find the high Quality audio as well as Some scenes especially The Finale With Yogi?
Great questions. As I do with all my videos, it was a combination of searching the internet for hours and days on any visual or audio available from the ride, and slowly cutting and piecing it together. The audio effects in the beginning and the end are about 90% recreated based on the original audio from old videos, the Yogi and Boo Boo voice audio was cleaned up with A.I. The end scene with Yogi and the lamp was found from a distorted shaky vacation video, stabilized and straightened out and then blended in with the ride film as best as possible. It's a challenge, but worth it.
@ridetrackx I hate to bother you because I know that you're busy, and I hope that you see my comment. But I have a question to ask you. The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera ride was always my #1 favorite ride at Universal Studios Florida from the very first time that I rode it as a little kid back in 1991 all the way until it retired in October of 2002, which I got to ride it one last time a month before it retired.
And because I rode it so much, I knew the lines by heart to what they said in both the pre-show and the ride. I was curious about this, but my question to you is, the few lines that both Yogi and Boo Boo say at the beginning, like the "Double time. Double time." and the "Yogi, Would you know anything about three dozen picnic baskets clogging up the pipe line?", "You mean four dozen picnic baskets. And I mean no. They must be stow aways."
I know that those particular lines aren't in the ride audio. But We're those particular lines actually originally in the ride audio, but then were those lines taken out or deleted for whatever reason before ride opened up?
I know that Boo Boo has always said, "Uh oh. Somethings wrong." And I've always wondered what was wrong because they never really fully explained what was wrong at all. But this would definitely make a whole more sense if this is really true and those picnic baskets were the cause of the problem if that audio was originally recorded buy then taken out of the ride.
But I will say though, that this is, without a doubt, the BEST simulator and room recreation of The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera ride on RUclips! You did an amazing and phenomenal job! I absolutely LOVE this and I will from now on watch this video once a week. Thank you for all of the hard work, energy and strength that you put into this! I really, truly, and genuinely do appreciate you doing that! Thank you so much again, ad you're absolutely the BEST! 😀
Where did you find this ride? Didn’t it get shut down a long time ago?
Yes, it was retired in 2002. This is all 3D animation created by me. The only original visual here is the ride film.
1:49 Who is that on the stamp?
Who knows? I can tell you that many animators leave easter eggs of themselves in their work. So it may very well be a self portrait or a co-worker. I can say for a fact that at least two of the producers have been animated into the film as characters in Bedrock.
They really shut it down ?
Was this the Simpsons Ride?
Currently Minion Mayhem, formerly Jimmy Neutron's Nicktoon Blast.
Simpsons replaced Back to the Future.
So whatever happened to this ride?
Retired October 2002 (outdated characters).
Replaced by Jimmy Neutron's Nicktoon Blast which retired August 2011.
Replaced by Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem.
@@ridetrackx I prefer the term classic over "outdated".
