    Hi Leena,
    I very rarely comment on videos but I felt compelled to share that your thoughts resonate with me so strongly and I truly enjoy listening to your podcasts! I could feel your joy about finding the right combination of colors so that all of them shine (such a worthy pursuit!) and it gave me a lot of renewed inspiration to flex that "muscle" - as you say - for some of the projects I am stuck on color-wise. Many thanks for your content covering the joy of knitting, the philosophy of making and generally, of life! Cheers.

    I am so glad I stayed to the end. Excellent advice. I have two twenty-something kiddos and letting them navigate their own lives is so important yet at times so difficult. Steering clear of my own story is the best way for me to be the best Mom I can be. Thank you Leena!

    I am so impressed with you. You are smart and wise beyond your age. I still find it hard to see my adult kids struggle from time to time. I still want to jump in and solve all their problems. On top of that I want to see my grandkids happy and carefree. That too is impossible. So thanks for your advice. You taught an old dog new tricks. I also love your colour choices for the tessalated sweater. I made the vest and found it very slow going. Good luck.

    I am so behind and just watched this today- hubby was golfing and daughter was at a friends house and I indulged in some lazy time!
    Your cardigan is beautiful! Oh my gosh it’s amazing! I love the color you chose.
    I too am a “fudge it” knitter. 😂
    I hope by the time I am writing this, that your single parenting stint is done and things have recalibrated for you.

    I like your knitting thinking, but it is your parenting thoughts that always make me think and comment. You come across as a very deep person and extremely thoughtful mother, passionately dedicated and invested in thoughtful motherhood, especially in regards to your son. Interestingly, in US it is quite common to have ambitious and intelligent and educated women to be a full-time mums, AND AT THE SAME TIME, children leave home to go to college relatively young. So you and your son both can expect some serious detachment process in three years.

    • @AnotherKnittingPod

      Aw, thank you so much!!
      And-tell me about it. I think about him leaving every single day. I can’t imagine my life without seeing him everyday. My kids are my little soulmates. But alas, they will have to fly and live their dreams.
      Interesting about full time moms…I do feel like 90% of my friends work and I am in the rare minority. But, I am definitely planning the second half of my life now, as I have put so much mental energy into my kids, and I know that is going to end sooner than I can imagine! So we shall see where the wind takes me!!
      Thank you for your notes they are a joy, and I love exchanging our thoughts 💜 Happy knitting to you my friend.

    I can so relate. I have an 8th grade daughter and 9th grade son. I spiral like that too. Another mantra I like to say to myself is This Too Shall Pass. I want my kids to feel like they can share/vent/decompress with me because i was not able to do that with my parents. They are kids and they need help learning how to express and process emotions, and then self soothe or seek out support. I am finding my kids do not really want a solution most of the time--they just want me to say this is normal, you are not alone, this will pass, i love you, let me know if i can do anything, etc. but wow, it is tough. lots of heavy sighing around here. and me being transparent with them and saying I do not know how to fix this, I am scared too, I am sad you are sad, etc. I was sick recently and it was so nice to talk with my daughter--when i was struggling she could give me similar pep talks to the ones i have given her over the years. Your kids are watching and listening to you and your thoughtfulness about parenting with be instilled in them!

    • @AnotherKnittingPod
      @AnotherKnittingPod  Месяц назад +1

      It’s so lovely to read your story!! I love that your daughter has learned how to be loving and supportive from you. I think that is the most beautiful part of parenting. We don’t get raises or promotions, but we do get to witness our children turning into amazing humans.
      And you are soooooo right. They don’t want solutions, they just want a witness to their experiences. It’s tough for us since when they were little it was easier to fix things!!

    Love your tank and sweater. Question regarding using barber cord for a provisional cast on. Do you find your stitches are stretched out when you join again? When I was using Bamboo yarn and did a provisional cast on and picked them back up, my stitches were so stretched out that it looked horrible and wasn't sure it would block out so now the project is in time out. 🤣

    • @AnotherKnittingPod
      @AnotherKnittingPod  Месяц назад

      So funny that you asked that. I was worried about it too! It doesn’t appear to have done that, but I can see how it would with a stretchier yarn. I hate when that happens. I did try to knit tightly on the round where I started back up. Linen Quill is non-superwash so it was ok.

They don’t make the same color, but I bet you could find something pretty similar.
