Great video! As a bigger busted UK size 14, I do love a deep V neck. I'm buying more merino wool sweaters and cardigans as they're warm but not too warm at my age! Also, I believe finer knits are more flattering than chunky knits (even though I love those, too) ❤ Investing in good wool one as the cheaper synthetic only last a few months.

Maybe.....Perhaps that wasn't the ideal choice. I mean that striped sweater. But I styled the video using items from my own wardrobe, so that was the only sweater with a neutral-colored neck that I had to illustrate what I mean. I try NOT to take many sponsors for my videos-I'm quite selective about that-which means I only use the clothes I own. Sometimes, this means the options aren't as unlimited as they might be if I had unlimited budget possibilities...
@@EllenaHue As an older woman worried about my jaw line, I understood the reasoning behind the 2 colors at the level of her jaw, not the chest area. Thanks for showing us the difference!
Living in Canada (with four distinct seasons) and now being up in age; with the exception of vests as an overlay I personally prefer long sleeves as can always ruch up if need be. Also to extend my wardrobe with limited dresses have topped my warmer season ones with a chunky sweater and changed out my footwear or when purchasing, opted for co-ordinated knitted tops and skirts that can be worn seperately or belted to give the illusion of a dress. As to cardigans; I have found buttoning them up and wearing them backwards will create a plain canvas for a special necklace and also works well as a under-pin with a double-breasted blazer for example. Enjoy your channel immensely!

I love knitted anything! My favorite piece is a grey knitted hoodie. It gives me a casual look without being too casual. Sadly, I don't own a lot of real wool. I'm.starting to pay attention to that, but I'll replace my synthetic fabrics for natural ones slowly. I don't want to get rid of perfectly wearable sweaters because the composition is not right. I find it wasteful!
Hi, just discovered you. Thanks for the tips. I hope that you will have a series on how to style scarves. Long short, big. bold. I love scarves. Just need to style them.
Great advice. I have so many thick turtlenecks. Thanks for telling us how to style them. I now need a light one. I can’t make myself to wear a larger cardigan. I only like them tight. Thanks for all the advice. 👍
Real merino wool is fantastic! I inherited two classic solid colour twin sets from my late mom, bought in 1968 in Scotland, and they're still in perfect condition, allthough both my mum and me worn them regularly. They were high quality and expensive back then, but well worth of every penny spent. Sadly, price does not correlate with the quality any more.
Bella di Notte has a beautiful range of thermal silk and wool vests, from sleeveless to long sleeved. Put these on under a sweater and the warmth factor raises by about 10. It says you can wash in a machine, I did once and it came out teeny weeny. So I now wash by hand.
Me too, plus I have an ever so slight double chin but in a turtle neck that is only magnified. The only turtle neck item I have is a COS cashmere bib (in lieu of a scarf)...beautiful item but not the best look on me! 😅
hi Ellena, would you please consider a video for petite, short waisted , hourglass styling ideas. there are a lot of women 4 ft ten to five ft one inches which is different than the five foot four cut off for petite that no one really addresses. Thank you!
I like the burgundy turtleneck but you said buy neutral and it’s not neutral. It will work well with neutrals of course. I see what you’re saying about the jawline. However I have very fair skin so I guess I can only wear white in that case. I love wearing black though. I suit high contrast colours the best.
I’m not built like a model and I have lots of turtle necks - I wear them all winter under other things . They look great . If you choose colours that flatter your skin , it doesn’t matter if you don’t have the neck of a swan, they’ll look great . Use a scarf or a long necklace to elongate the neckline if you want to but honestly, the only ladies who should avoid turtle necks are the ones with bigger busts - V necks were invented for them ! 😉
Turtlenecks may be fine for younger women but, passed a certain age (in my case, I am 60) , the skin around my neck is getting looser and a turtleneck accentuates that loose skin (jawling). Therefore, turtlenecks are out. I favor V-necks that elongate my silhouette.
Sorry , my apologies, cashmere DOES NOT have lanolin in it - I personally prefer cashmere to anything but it wears better when combined with silk . I do have a fondness for the Lily Silk turtle neck sweaters which are cashmere / silk and seamless . Absolutely gorgeous to wear .
When I go out and about with a girlfriend or more, my deadly sin is getting yet another sweater. Not hugely expensive but givesone a buzz of excitement . I don’t see the point of only having 4 sweaters……..life is too short!
I am petite hourglass, and apart from the first turtle neck, none of the others look good on me. I can hardly find any sweater that does not ruin the benefit of my wellness and workout routine, most sweaters available nowadays just make women look like a slab of brick. There are hardly any that are fitted with a V neck for optimal silhouette, having the right length at the waist.
Please use alternatives to Cashmere. The goats suffer immensely (read up on it). Horrific. China and Mongolia have no rules for animal friendly products. It's so expensive too.😮 😫
I beg to differ with the concept. One needs clothing for rutting around the house, cooking, feeding and cuddling kids. Sports, rainy days, gardening. Office, work places, low level socialisation. High level events and back up for when clothes are in the wash or being cleaned. If only it were easy to stick with a capsule wardrobe. They are for holidays!
turtlenecks are not so flattering on women who have a short neck OR large bust. A black turtleneck drains color from the face of white ladies although ladies with darker skin can carry off black.
I wouldn’t normally criticise someone’s jewellery choices but I think on this occasion I have to agree with you - I don’t think it enhances anything and jewellery is an adornment .
I hate turtlenecks, why cover a long, beautiful neck, especially when you're young and it's still unlined? It's one of the best features the body has imo. And as I've got older, if I covered my neck my droopy face would be more obvious as it would hang over the turtle neck (especially if it's black or other dark colour), so it's a no from me. I also like to show the clavicle, it's a sexy part of a woman's body. Finally, I am told turtle necks can be itchy and hot.

thank you!!! Such a nice comment! So happy to hear that 😚
Living in Canada (with four distinct seasons) and now being up in age; with the exception of vests as an overlay I personally prefer long sleeves as can always ruch up if need be.
Turtle necks are difficult if you have short neck. I always turn it into a mock.
I see less and less of mock in US
I love turtlenecks, but I wear them with a long necklace; that looks less bulky. And since I‘m watching Ellenas videos (my favorite YT chanel), I have several pendants and wear them with coloured strings. 😊
I wear mock too. I find turtlenecks too constricting or too bulky.

Cardigans over sweaters. I get too hot with heavy sweaters.

Your link for the brown sweater that matches the crinkled pants does not work.
I thought your mom looked better in the black turtleneck
Turtlenecks aren't friendly to anyone unless, you are built like a model or have a long neck. Grandma's wear them, they can really age you.
I think the pendant you wear is too long and large for your slight frame, though the shape is lovely.
Almost all of your recommendations are for wool or cashmere which I can’t wear. Does that mean that I can’t look stylish?
Seriourly 🙄
I would love to wear merino wool, but i get very itchy and often a rash as well whenever I had tried it. Sadly they all go to donations 😢
- you’re allergic to the lanolin found in pure wool . Try alpaca , alpacas don’t have lanolin in their wool .
Cashmere is better if you itch from wool
@@tonyak2446 - it still contains lanolin - it’s not the wool people are allergic to , it’s lanolin which is the natural waterproofing of the wool .
Why is your orange purse always open, just curious.
When I go out and about with a girlfriend or more, my deadly sin is getting yet another sweater. Not hugely expensive but givesone a buzz of excitement . I don’t see the point of only having 4 sweaters……..life is too short!
Is there a turtleneck out there that flatters large busted women???
I don't wear them because they don't flatter me.
Love you and love your channel!❤

I also like the black on on your mum
Cos mi mówi że jestes Polką 🙂
Кардиган кардиганом, но он может так легко свалиться с ним в вязаную кофту. Мне не подходит точно. Свитер с разрезами - выглядит интересно.
No, not turtlenecks😂 they make my wide shoulders look huge
Love your videos and style. Why do your voice-overs sound American? LOL.
👗🧥👗🔥🌿🏆🏅
Turtle necks make me choke.
She says a core of 4 not a total.
If one is busty, apple shaped. a turtle neck is not flattering.
turtlenecks are not so flattering on women who have a short neck OR large bust. A black turtleneck drains color from the face of white ladies although ladies with darker skin can carry off black.
Necklace looks very diy, sorry.
I wouldn’t normally criticise someone’s jewellery choices but I think on this occasion I have to agree with you - I don’t think it enhances anything and jewellery is an adornment .
De gustibus non est disputandum.
I like it very much und would buy it, if it would be less expensiv.
Я звичайно люблю твій стиль і смак, він чудовий, але у мене скоро буде алергія на вираз instantly elevate, ну правда....
Але, русский забыла?
