    In this video I will be testing the regular Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sunscreen vs the brand new Neuatrogena Sheer Zinc Face Sunscreen made for people with eczema skin problems. I'm wearing foundation over my sunscreen to see which one is better with makeup.

    The zinc one is a mineral sunscreen which means that it creates a barrier which reflects uva/ uvb light rays. The other one is a chemical sunscreen so the chemicals absorb the sun's rays and convert them into heat energy (which stops it from reaching deeper in the skin and causing damage). This heat energy can often cause more inflamation of the skin and redness, and in general the physical barrier which the mineral sunscreen creates protects a bit better :)

      Mineral sunscreens only reflrct 5% of UV rays, the rest is absorbed just like chemical susncreens.

      The other one's active ingredient it Titanium Dioxide. It is also mineral sunscreen.

      Funnily enough the reflection thing is actually incorrect, it's an assumption based on zinc oxide reflecting visible light which causes the white appearance. In the UV spectrum zinc oxide acts differently and absorbs UV rays. Zinc oxide only reflects 6% of UV rays. 🙂

    I am shocked at how well Neutrogena sheer zinc lies on my skin. I am not white nor have extremely pale skin, and was initially put off because of the numerous negative reviews for the crazy white cast. Funny though, because it does not seem to be anywhere as near as bad on my skin as people have indicated it to be. It’s actually pretty great. My skin tone is rather similar to yours and the normal to combination type. I’m convinced this sunscreen is better suited to some people regardless of skin tone!

    Mineral sunblock generally is more expensive than chemical sunscreen

  • @dddg6327
    @dddg6327 4 года назад +5

    Everyone worries about how much sunscreen to put on cos you’re worried about a white cast et al but you forget that the benefits outweigh the negatives. I’d rather have perfect skin with the application of a thicker white cast sunscreen( you can blend it in with foundation) than wrinkles and hyperpigmentation using a lightweight sunscreen.

    You have great reviews. I just found your channel. I really appreciate that you apply the sunscreen in the video so we get an accurate view of the white cast, greasiness, etc. Also, doing it on half your face makes it easier to tell how much it's noticeable. Very thorough and to the point!
    By the way, did the mineral sunscreen ever blend in with your skin and not look white? I don't wear makeup so I wouldn't be able to cover it up.

      The mineral sunscreen stayed white on my face so obviously you would have to put some liquid foundation on top of it or cover it with a foundation powder. Thank you for commenting🙂

    If you are wearing sunscreen to protect from burn and wrinkles, you must get a zinc-based mineral sunscreen. Unfortunately, they are the ones that look super white and thick on the skin. The other lightweight sunscreens have harmful chemicals in them and provide very minimal protection from the sun.

    No thats way too much you used for the Zinc sunscreen. My dermatologist recommended it to me and told me to use not more than a finger tip for face. You dot it across your face and apply evenly and thin. it work the same whether thick or thin because its a physical barrier, its not absorbed just make sure your whole face is covered. The white cast usually goes away
