I have both sunscreens and prefer the texture and feel of the hydro boost! Love how concise and detailed this video is! I don't use as much sunscreen as you do sha!
Ahamefula Amara They are both good for oily skin. The ultra-sheer leaves a bit of white especially when one sweats. The hydro-boost isn't shimmery but it gives your skin a hydrated look.
I have heard a lot of negative reviews about the gel lotion, I personally have never used sunscreen and I HATE THEM BECAUSE THEY ARE SO THICK AND HEAVY, I just got the hydro boost, I love how thin it is and the fragrance is not too much, it’s smells like a shower gel which I love and it has a simple glow to it when you put it on 🤩
I’m glad you now use sunscreen. If you are looking for more options for a thin and lightweight sunscreen, I suggest you pick up Differin SPF sunscreen. It is oil-free. I reviewed it as well and you can find it in my sunscreen screen playlist .
I made the mistake of getting the ultra sheer one THINKING it would be sheer but no ma'ma!. I got an immediate white cast .It was hard to spread and had a thick ,drying grabbing feel. It was fine after I applied my make up but i wouldnt dare wear it alone. I found the hydo gel and loved it. It goes on like an actual moisturizer. I would say it leaves a shimmer I agree with you, as theres no slip or greasy feeling which I love. It is fragranced but not like classic old fashioned sunscreens it's more of a "clean" smell.
My skin is super super oily n I live in a hot dry weather place kindly which one should I buy as I don’t have much budget it’s costly In our country I’ve used the ultra dry touch one before but now I’m confused wether I should buy it again or try the new hydro boost one

One major problem I had with Ultra Sheer is that it turns white on my skin when I sweat. So I wore it on a beach day, I realized later my legs were gray and white, so were my black shorts, and the upholstery in my husband's car lol
Very informative video, straight to the point. I wish I'd seen your review before I went on an endless search for a sunscreen that doesn't leave a white cast on my skin. After wasting a lot of time and money I finally found the Neutrogena Hydro Boost one and was happy to see how well it works for my skin, no white cast, oily look nor acne and very affordable too. Lancôme has an SPF moisturizer that works really well too for dark skin but it's kind of expensive considering how fast one goes through it.
The difference between the two is that the hydroboost is a chemical sunscreen while the ultra sheer one is a mineral/ physical sunscreen. Ultra sheer contains zinc oxide and titanium dioxide that are broad spectrum spf but leave a white cast.
I know it’s hard to tell from watching videos but it really looked like the ultraSheer side wasn’t working very well and you applied a lot less then your basically rubbed most of it off on your had. And it still left white cast. They hydroBoost looked awesome. The little shine that was there is easily controlled by makeup and powder. Their is no comparison because no one wears enough sunscreen if it’s going to leave a white cast. Your ending up removing the sunscreen just to get rid of the white cast. So what’s the point if your not wearing enough to make it worth it. Again your hydroBoost side looks great! I’m here checking because my husband needs different sunscreen then I use because our skin is so different. And on me being so fair skinned I can’t see white cast so I need videos like yours to help me help my husband. ❤️🌺❤️ We are going today and picking up the hydroBoost. Thanks again for the great video! Helped us a lot :) ❤️🙏❤️

Thanks for discussing sunscreens, and sharing your knowledge. Your skin is lovely BTW. I'm a lighter skinned Black Lady struggling with hyperpigmentation which will only improve if I use a good sunscreen (among other things, I guess, but the sunscreen is key). do either of these contain iron oxides? sorry if you already answered that.
But does either one of them burn your eye? I have a problem with sunscreen burning my eyes. I’m presently using Neutrogena zinc sunscreen. So I do get that white cast. Then I have to use a tinted moisturizer to cover the cast.
I use Ultra sheer. But it stings my eyes so much. I started avoiding my eye area completely and put it only on my forehead and use another suncream around my eyes but still it stings. Any suggestions?
Hello Tamuno, I have watched your review on Bondi Sands and now this one on the Hydroboost water gel. Which in your opinion is more suitable for oily skin?
Okay so I’m a bit curious. I looked up the active ingredients in the hydro boost and it’s mainly chemicals deemed “harmful” i many places (which is why I bought a mineral based sunscreen/moisturizer at first but that one didn’t help at all) but a lot of ppl say it’s done wonders for their skin. I didn’t want to use anything with those chemicals. I have it but I want to see if there’s anyone out there who’s used this for a gud amount of time to know how it works long term. (Health, how their skin is so far , etc.) Active ingredients: 1.) Homosalate- (9%) Helps to penetrate into your skin, but disrupts hormones in men and women and the endocrine system (responsible for regulating your cells and organ activity) 2.) Octocrylene- is considered safe for “use up to 10% in the formula”, verified by the FDA (this product has 9% of it) Although there are benefits, like boosting sunscreen efficiency, it increases your risks of skin cancer and premature aging. 3.) Octislate- (5%) There arent any confirmed disadvantages of using this chemical but it is advised to stay away from it by multiple sites. It’s used with other chemicals like oxybenzone (also found in chemical sunscreens) to result in better sun protection. 4.) Oxybenzone- (4.5%) Can cause skin problems, like acne or skin irritation, has been shown to possibly be one of the causes of hormone disruption, and it ofc damages coral. 5.) Avobenzone- (2.7%) It breaks down in 30 min when exposed to the sun “so manufacturers use questionable "stabilizing" chemicals such as octocrylene, homosalate, or octisalate”, and its been revealed it reacts with chlorine and can cause toxic reactions. So when these chemicals break down, it causes radicals (a group of atoms behaving as a unit) to be released into the body.
I haven't reacted to the hydro-boost. I used up 2 tubes before picking up a different brand. My only problem with the hydro-boost is the alcohol which is personal. Using sunscreens I'm general along side other skincare products has improved my skin texture and color. My advise to you is find which sunscreen works for you and stick to it. Whether it is mineral or chemical and if you don't trust USA sunscreens, you can move to Korean sunscreens.
Hydroboost and ultrasheer both have oxybenzol in it which is not good for skin and both have fragrance too. I would suggest neutrogena clear face which is fragrance free and oxybenzol free.
The Opinion Guy You can use either of them. The problem I have with the ultra sheer is that it leave a tiny bit of cast but that's fine if I put makeup on it. Regardless of your skin type I will suggest you pick up Hydro boost.
Yes they are bad for our skin if they are too much. But, in skincare product, alcohol and fragrance must be put according to the health regulations, so it's safe to use. it means you don't really need to avoid them as long as your skin is not that super sensitive to those ingredients. Meanwhile, alcohol and fragrance are not always bad, they help to make a great formula for a skincare product, to make a good feeling while you use that. For example tamanu oil smells really bad (at least for me) than skincare company add some fragrance to make it smells better ☺️
My experience with this product though its my first time using it and it stung so badly around my ears, got tears running down my chick, but after some minutes it's stops and after it absorbed into my skin I notice the glow I love it and hope I get no reactions from the stings.. Will still get back for more reviews after using in a couple of weeks..

Hi..my face burn badly, I have to colour so what can I I use to have one colour on my face...but my skin have oil..
Hello, I suggest you see an esthetician to examine and recommend products for your skin condition.
Okay so I’m a bit curious. You will have to purchase the product to figure it out by yourself. You already know where I stand from your comment.
Aren't alcohol&fragrance bad for our skin, in that case shouldn’t we avoid this product?
Yes they are bad for our skin if they are too much. But, in skincare product, alcohol and fragrance must be put according to the health regulations, so it's safe to use. it means you don't really need to avoid them as long as your skin is not that super sensitive to those ingredients. For example tamanu oil smells really bad (at least for me) than skincare company add some fragrance to make it smells better ☺️

Sunscreen even facial ones burn my face (as do most moisturisers ) so I'm still trying to find one that works 😭
I recommend you visit a dermatologist to find a solution.
Hydro boost looks good. Is it a mineral or a chemical sunscreen?
The Neutrogena hydro boost sunscreen is a chemical sunscreen.

Is the hydro boost safe to use during pregnancy
I can't tell if it's safe but on their website, their Sheer Zinc Dry-Touch is highly recommended during pregnancy.
