For those who think over heating issue was actual issue, you are wrong. Passports have additional indicator for awd overheating system and it is not about transmission, it is about rear differential clutch. When error comes on it means there is dangerous temperature which just warnes you before u ruin it, other cars would also reach extra temperatures on that hill, but you will not get warning message cause they simply do not have that option of measuring temperature there. Basically both passport and other cars are overheating but passport warns you at least. So yeah it is not disadvantage but advantage. Sarah should have told about that as well. Anyway nice video and excellent vehicle. Looking forward to get one
Your old Passport video was what made me buy one. Mines a 2020 and I love it so much. It's got just enough tech to feel modern but old school enough to not be annoyingly over complicated
Just traded in our 17 RX350 and got a 2021 EX-L Passport, and what a joy to drive! You couldn’t have said it better. Its modern enough to give you the conveniences for driving comfort and no fancy touch pad or joystick or funky dashboard designs to justify “luxury” price tag like in other cars. Love the AWD, feels much more stable through the corners.
I do hope the algorithms are treating you fairly. Your work ethic is truly admirable. Continual quality content shared with a dry sense of humour and a healthy blend of OCD ! Great receipe.
A lot of RUclipsrs have come and gone in the auto space but you have prevailed. I'm sure it's due to the fact that you actually know cars and are actually working on them. Here's to your future.
The fact that Sarah actually takes these cars/trucks out and mobs them around is refreshing. Most car/truck reviewers just sit there and mosey them around all lame-like and only read back what the manufacturer tells them what to say.
Two days in a row with Sarah reviews. Made my week! More of this please. :) I will say $64K for that as tested seems awfully steep. Well into Jeep Grand Cherokee territory, although it did show itself to be very capable and it of course comes with Honda's build quality and great reputation. Edit: for $44K, now that makes much more sense and yeah, that's lots of bang for the buck!

There are a lot of people that don't know how AWD works but they know they want it. I enjoy the explanations, I just wish others appreciated it as much as I do.
Exhaust system are designed with the resonator placement at the end of the outlet. Components follow this pattern; Catalytic converter, Muffler, Resonator. Resonators are designed to cancel out specific noise frequencies, where mufflers are to muffle exhaust noise. Kuddos on your success, enjoy watching your builds and reviews.
Not for an all-wheel drive vehicle. Cutting off traction control is only an option for four-wheel drive. Without traction control an all-wheel drive vehicle is actually useless.
@@hermanjohnson9180 granted, yes at speed traction control should always remain on. But it has been my experience that at slow speeds on flat snow and gravel the Passport’s vector management felt better with traction control off. I was in a state park in Colorado heading to a camp spot mid-Winter. I don’t know the specifics of Snow Mode but it feels like it cuts back throttle response and makes the traction control more aggressive, so for my specific case and time I benefited from disabling it over flat powder and gravel terrain. The Passport behaved like a classic 4x4.
That saying is actually "Piss and Vinegar". The commonly accepted meaning of the saying is to be full of aggressive energy. The earliest citation of it is from 1936 in John Stienbeck's novel In Dubious Battle.
Sarah, you are thinking of Swim-Bladders in fish. Most bony fish (but not cartilaginous fish like sharks) have a swim bladder filled with O2 to help with buoyancy so they don't have to keep moving their fins to maintain a particular level - a waste of energy. While most fish have gills that take Oxygen out of the water that flows over them, there are 4 or 5 types of Lungfish that do have lungs that allow them to breath air, as well as having gills that pull O2 out of water. :)
I’m happy to see they put a ZF transmission that’s rated for more power than the engine puts out. Honda transmissions have often been the weak point of the drive train.
@@jaydibernardo4320 They're programmed to flash the warning light at a fairly moderate temperature so you stop the car and let it cool down before you cause any real damage. I've been working on Acura/Honda for 20+ years and the number of front and rear diff failures I've seen is statistically negligible.
Routing the cross-member ABOVE the transaxle not only makes it easier to work on those parts, it probably lowers the center of gravity without reducing clearance under the vehicle. Smart for stability on or off road.
I was watching Acura TLX Type S reviews after buying one, and stumbled on your review. Was such a fun informative video, I instantly subbed. Now I look forward to any new video, great work. Wish you the best!
Full of Piss and Vinegar comes from a Stienbeck novel describing a group of boisterous men, a fun idiom! Love your work and having been a mechanic for much of my 66 years, I respect your skills! Be Well.

What does that have to do with a Honda review? Not a damn thing! My inner Sarah took over and I needed to include superfluous information with no way to include a link "overhead".
“A Fiiiiiish Lung????? “ lol , your the best . love your videos . I always learn so much. I also agree with you , The passport has GREAT potential to be a off-roader.
Just a heads up Sarah, When it says its too hot. Just 5 min for the 4wd system to cool down and you can continue ripping on it. I have same system in my 2022 Honda Ridgeline. You could have climbed that last hill and not worry about the too hot to handle warning. Just send it next time! Also "V6es" hahahaha.

Honda Passport Trailsport, wherein Sarah discovers that Honda engineers actually get to do clever (and surprising) things. Always like the under vehicle view that makes it look like the car/truck is laying on it's side - lol!
I like how it at least attempted the second hill with everything it had. A new outback's nanny controls would of kicked in way earlier. Plus this thing tows as much as a 4runner.
Is it a comfy ride? I love my Hondas I currently have an accord and due to trade it in. I am torn between a 4Runner the 2023 passport trial sport. I know the 4Runner is bigger and more off road capable but the MPG is horrid and the ride quality is choppy
I’m part of that Honda OG! Lol I still own two 90’s Honda and the 2020 passport elite. I’m single and also like to travel. So I use my passport to take me places. 😁
Excellent review as always! I like the Passport but feel it's pricey. I think I'm more inclined to buy the Odyssey, forego AWD and get more space and MPGs.

It launches uber quick and you can either use the paddle shift to manually push it into M2, M3, etc or it will automatically shift it into those gears when it approaches redline. I like the vehicle. With that said, i got my eye on the tesla model y!
Great review, I was eyeing this passport for a while, AWD system overheating was a bummer. Im sure if it cooled off you a bit, it would of been able to climb that hill.
Honda offer transmission cooler. They recommend getting it if you plan on towing the max 5,000 lbs. It is also recommended if you are taking it offroad like doing over landing.
