And the guitar player, Neil Giraldo, her husband is a classically trained musician as well. Her band was tight. Looking back, I just realized watching other videos, I've never seen a drummer like that before!! He's almost always standing, hopping around with so much energy back then, and still killing it on the drums! So cool! 😎 Pat can hit the Mariah notes, before there was a Mariah.... Long Island divas!💪🏼💋
You gotta go back even further than this song. Try "Promises in the Dark" , "Hell is for Children", "Hit Me With Your Best Shot", "Heartbreaker", "You Better Run", "Fire and Ice" , "Treat Me Right", and her more mainstream stuff is good too, the mid to late 80's, but older Pat ROCKS! She's the Original diva from Long Island!
Ok in 1983 the Rock station 92.3 KGON in Portland and its listeners voted the lovely Pat Benatar the best female rock singer in America! The male population voted her one bad bi*ch ! Great video bro.
I would consider Pat Benatar as Rock for sure. She just didn't stick to one musical style 😊. In the 70's and 80's genres were pretty fluid. Many different, so-called "genres" (pop, metal, rock, country, R&B, disco, etc.), would make up the "Billboard Hot 100" list
Love Her! Other good ones are : Hell is for Children, Promises in the Dark, Fire and Ice, and You Better Run. These are some of my favorites and I think you will enjoy!
definitely check out her full length blues album TRUE LOVE: 1 Bloodshot Eyes 2 Payin' The Cost To Be The Boss (awesome BB King Cover) 3 So Long 4 I've Got Papers On You 5 I Feel Lucky 6 True Love 7 The Good Life 8 Evening 9 I Get Evil 10 Don't Happen No More 11 Please Come Home For Christmas
You just started your reactions farther into her career...1st four albums guitar based rock although muxed for vocals...live she was the singer in a rock band. Myron(drummer) and Neil(lead guitat) played with 70s rocker Rick Derringer.
Pat Benatar is a ROCK singer, Hard Rock, her first four albums were rock/hard rock and then she transitioned into more of a pop/rock sound. Check out YOU BETTER RUN, HELL IS FOR CHILDREN, PROMISES IN THE DARK
I am so glad you are discovering one of the greatest voices in rock. She has no match as far as I'm concerned. She now opens the door for so many contemporary singers, and they owe her a hell of a debt. I grew up listening to Pat Benatar and many others of her generation back then. I was a teenager during the 80s, so I'm thankful I could experience all of this growing up. I'm so glad you are discovering what actual singing is and what true rock and roll is keep it up. Promises in the dark is another one of my all-time favorites of hers. I think it shows her vocal range probably the best.
Thanks for the reaction to this song! One of my favorite songs to listen to during my walk before work. It gets you All Fired Up! Love Pat Benatar!!! Thanks again and Rock On!!!🎵😀🎶❣️
I just saw her in Atlantic City July 2, and she sang this song. At 69 years old she hit every note, and sounded like she did 30 years ago. Amazing concert.
What? Just found this channel of yours! Rock on! The initial guitar riff was made up on the spot by Neil Giraldo after almost coming to blows with the drummer in the studio (recorded with full band like live) because they couldn't agree on how to start it. Ended up being this angry intro. It also has a mistake in the second verse when Neil plays the wrong chord. They decided to keep it in as it made sense with the lyrics. Or maybe because no-one wanted to do another take that day? lol. Might be worth noting that Neil and Myron are best friends and Myron is Godfather to Neil's daughter, so all is well after that day. Pat and Neil's sound progressed to much rockier as they went along. The 90s stuff is hard rock. Really good too.
Is Pat Benatar Rock or Pop? Well.....she's actually opera trained and went to rock because it was something she enjoyed then the record company had her do some pop for the money. She and her husband (the guitar player in this vid) also did an album of nothing but jazz work as well. And its funny you mentioned Lizzy Hale and Halestorm. Halestorm did a cover of one of Pat's songs called Hell Is For Children.
@@cjturner370 The point I was making was Benatar doesn't sound like Ethridge except in this song, Melissa Ethridges first record came out about 7 years after Benetars did so not that far apart.
Pat Benatar is a Rock Goddess!
Yes, she was deemed a rocker for sure! You should check out Hell is For Children next, for child abuse awareness. Sad song, but total banger!🔥
That is a trained opera singer right there. Her vocals are of the charts!

Benatar is and always been the Queen of Hard Rock my friend. She is Classic Rock all the way. Her pipes are golden.
Halestorm does a cover of Benatar's Hell Is A Children. The greatest song ever. bite into oxox

Pat can sing anything!
Absolute legend. I finally got to see her Live 12 years ago and WOW. Even just her warming up, there was complete silence everyone was in awe. 😎💗🔥

Rock star and she is Fired up!! My favorite song by her.

GREAT!!!Love it!🔥🔥🔥
To fully understand Pat benetar check out her first hit..........hit me with your best shot ✌️
Pretty sure on that same album is Don't Walk Away, a top class Benatar song in line with All Fired Up, but not so high octane, a more chill song.
Classic!!!!🤘🔥
I always thought of her as hard rock
She is a trained opera singer, but probably one of the best rock/pop singers of all time. Serious skills.
Thanks for the reaction to this song! One of my favorite songs to listen to during my walk before work. It gets you All Fired Up! Love Pat Benatar!!! Thanks again and Rock On!!!🎵😀🎶❣️

She and her husband Neil play smaller venues on Long Island all the time. I never had the chance to see her but always wanted to.
Neil Giraldo is her husband. He’s a gifted songwriter mostly known for writing Rick Springfield’s Jessie’s Girl.
Love this song
That was one of my favorite workout songs when I was in wrestling back in high school!
When I try to challenge my singing skills I try to sing along with this.
Pat Benatar is brilliant, love her music, you must check out these from her,
Hell Is For Children
Invincible
Sex As A Weapon
Somebody's Baby
Neal Giraldo is the lead guitarist and her husband, and Myron Grombacher is the band's drummer.
You should watch the live version that has "Summer Vacation" in the title. Absolutely awesome!
Heart breaker is a great tune.
Pat Benetar and her HAF husband is a great guitarist.
Listen to "Hell is for Children"
Check out Fire & Ice. Hit Me With Your Best Shot. She's a rock artist but also trained Opera singer
The lead guitarist is her husband

Liz is amazing and does remind me of the 80s and 90s
There is actually a video of halestorm covering a Benatar song

Pat is a rocker...please do "Promises in the Dark"!
If you want to hear the more Rock side of Pat Benetar, play Heartbreaker!
Love Pat Benatar💯❤🔥She sounds a lot like Melissa Ethridge here.
She was way before Melissa Ethridge
So Melissa Ethridge Sounds Like Her!!!
Just Saying

@@jbr600 Pretty sure her last name is spelt Benatar. OXOX
Has Heartbreaker ever had a reaction done?
Rock star...
Do her song Invincible
React to "Invincible" by Pat
Probably her most important line is "Now I Believe". Investigate the Urantia Book. We are in Biblical Times.
Urantia is what Kerry Livgren of Kansas was into before he realized the truth of Christianity.
