If Bono & the Edge had written this tune it would be universally been recognised, acknowledged and worshipped as an iconic and timeless masterpiece! 23 is one of THE most underrated tunes ever and a band that is so deserving of more recognition for the incredible music they produce. Long live J'E'W
23, Kill, A Praise Chorus, Disintegration, Cautioners, Sweetness round out my favs, but their catalog is so deep! I really enjoy your content! Props to everyone that recommended this!
You felt it from the jump. Just close your eyes and get lost in it. Such a great song from one of my favorite bands. This album from front to back is a banger.
23 is such an amazing track to close out an album to. Futures from front to back is an absolute musical journey and it's one of my personal favorites to revisit from time to time. Great video, glad to see you react to Jimmy Eat World.
Glad you sat all the way through that entire last half of the song and just felt it. It really is a song you have to feel and just listen. So chill and relaxing and beautiful. Amazing song and a masterpiece like you said. Also do more Jimmy Eat World! They have so many incredible songs. If you want another long one to experience, try "Invented" one of my favorite songs of theirs.
I love this song. Always have. It reminds me of my days as a college student - stupid, young, romantic, and hopelessly in love with this girl, trying to convince her to stop dating around and take me seriously: "you'll sit alone forever if you wait for the right time; what are you hoping for?" I wish I could go back and tell myself back then that those lyrics applied equally to me. I wasted so much time waiting on one girl when there was a whole ocean out there I could have easily moved on to.
I feel like "A Praise Chorus" has a similar sentiment, and, like you, it takes me back to my college days. It resonated with me SO MUCH back then. I was so shy and felt so incredibly awkward and couldn't work up the courage to show interest in men I liked. I tried a little bit and it didn't really work in person, but I found that I was able to feel more comfortable with online interactions. I met my husband on MySpace 😂 In the end it worked out, but I remember how sad and lonely I was (romantically) in my early adulthood and it would have been solved by just getting out of my head and saying, "What do I have to lose?"
Same brother... SAME... Wishing time would hurry and pass so whatever destiny would hurry up and get here... then nothing... I pissed away the best years of my life "sitting alone forever... if you wait for the right time"
for me as well. college days, heartbreak song. I've listened to this song so many times to be able to work out emotions. And it still takes me back to 20 years back and the pain I felt. It doesnt matter to me anymore of course but its like the song is a mermory drive with all the old feelings on it.
Yeah, man. This song and album came out a week after my 23rd birthday and felt like it spoke to me directly. So much uncertainty back then just graduating college, no job yet, had a girlfriend I loved but felt inadequate due to not have a job yet. This song really kicked my ass. I've listened to it literally several hundred times over the years and it takes me right back to those times, the anxiety I felt of figuring out the world. "You'll sail alone forever if you wait for the right time." I probably did the opposite of this and broke up with the girl and went to grad school. Life can be hard at that age.
Isn't it cool when you're reminded how much you enjoyed something? That happened to me a few months ago with Jimmy Eat World actually. I've listened to Bleed American so much over the past few months 😅
One of my favourite songs of all time. You deserve a thumbs up for going with this as your first JEW song instead of predictable ones like the Midddle (which is very middle).
Incredible song and reaction. Not a bunch of abrupt stoppages and interjections adding commentary just to fill in space. You really gave it your attention and absorbed it. Fantastic reaction. Subbed 👍
Finally, the volume of the song and your comment is so balanced without overwhelming each other. This type of skill is pretty rare fora commentary/reaction view. Keep it up! I'm subbing... BTW, this is my most favorite track from the band. Kinda personal and uplifting during my past years.
This is a really good suggestion! Jimmy Eat World is an amazing band. They have so many great songs, I recommend "Hear You Me" (must listen), "A Praise Chorus", "If You Don't Don't", "Pain", "World You Love", "Drugs Or Me"
Haha, I was thinking purple right as you said that you saw colors. Purple is definitely a fitting color for this song somehow. Absolutely beatiful! Another one of their songs that you just have to feel is "Goodbye Sky Harbor", but it's 16 minutes long so maybe not fit for a full reaction but you need to listen to it anyway :) Hope you get to enjoy a lot more Jimmy Eat World songs in the future man
Lyrically perfect... These guys are so underrated. Talented songwriters, talented musicians, my favorite band of all time. I've seen them FIFTEEN times. They are amazing live. Please marry me Jim Adkins ❤
I think 23 is my favorite song ever, and I'm not even a big Jimmy Eat World fan otherwise. I've known about them since their first hit in the early 2000's when I was in college, and only found this song about 4 years ago.
The entirety of their albums Clarity, Bleed American, Futures, and Chase This Light are masterpieces... That being said, if I could pick one song... just one Jimmy Eat World song... "Dizzy" off of Chase this Light... It's essentially like "23", the closer of that album... It's my favorite song by my favorite band... And just a note... about the innocence of youth... I remember vividly when Futures came out... I was working a crap job for very little pay. The girl I wanted chose another guy and married him, and all I had was a junk mustang and time on my hands... Life was just moving SO SLOW... I wished time would hurry up and pass to get me to that "good part" of life where everything was just fine and no more worries, problems, loneliness, etc... I'd give anything to tell my former self that I was LIVING IT... Before I lost my grandparents, before I lost my faith, before I lost two loves of my life, before I turned to the bottle... before I hit rock bottom... God, I'd give anything to be 19 again, just cruising around with nowhere to go and plenty of time to kill. No social media, no smartphones, no RUclips... Just going out driving for hours and seeing how far you could go... I remember thinking about 23 "man, that's a few years from now..." Now, for me, 23 was 16 years ago... I'm on the verge of 40 and I probably have less years left on this earth than I've been on it... It's terrifying when you feel like you pissed it all away... and you'll never get it back...
I like their music a lot. I'd call them more alternative than pop punk. I think alternative is a very broad category, though, maybe too broad. Pop punk is an interesting category too. A lot of people hear 'punk' used in any way at all, and they shy away. The Clash were considered punk, but they were pop punk, and only punk really in attitude. Train in Vain, Rock the Casbah for example, straight pop. At least in my opinion. I'm looking forward to your reaction to Jimmy Eat World's newest: Something Loud too. What you said about naivete and being honest. Kids are so honest, and I get along really well with kids, to the point I hang out with them at get togethers over adults sometimes, and it's because I enjoy not listening to bs, and to receiving and giving honesty. I get looks and uncomfortable silences sometimes when I ask things around people I know a little better than not (I watch myself around those I don't more) because I ask things and say things that most don't, It isn't that I ask or say outrageous things. It's more that I ask things most people just don't. It's weird, but it's who I am whether it's naive or unacceptable, and so on. I do have some close to me who I feel like I can ask or say most anything, and I do, and most are not just okay, but seem to enjoy our discussions. They open up more sometimes. Do you have any form of synesthesia by any chance?
23 is a masterpiece, you nailed it 💯 Polaris is an underrated song off of Futures too 👍🏻
Love Polaris... and Futures the track itself too. Both very underrated imo.
Agreed, I'd also add night drive to that.
I found Polaris from an episode of Smallville. Bought the album, and the rest is history. Still my favorite track
If Bono & the Edge had written this tune it would be universally been recognised, acknowledged and worshipped as an iconic and timeless masterpiece! 23 is one of THE most underrated tunes ever and a band that is so deserving of more recognition for the incredible music they produce. Long live J'E'W
One of my favorite songs ever written
Hands down, the most underrated song in history.
Word

Powerful stuff
One of my favourite songs of all time.
You deserve a thumbs up for going with this as your first JEW song instead of predictable ones like the Midddle (which is very middle).
this and hear you me are so damn good
Funny how you mention Davey from AFI, in Jimmy's most recent album on the last song Davey did back up vocals.
I'm glad I came across your video. One of my favorite songs of all time. You just feel it to your core and I can tell you did too. :)
1 of the best intros imo
Incredible song and reaction. Not a bunch of abrupt stoppages and interjections adding commentary just to fill in space. You really gave it your attention and absorbed it. Fantastic reaction. Subbed 👍
I feel this with you, Im not alone.
Honestly I consider this to be one of the greatest songs ever written. Everyone should know of this song’s existence like they do November Rain
Finally, the volume of the song and your comment is so balanced without overwhelming each other. This type of skill is pretty rare fora commentary/reaction view. Keep it up! I'm subbing...
BTW, this is my most favorite track from the band. Kinda personal and uplifting during my past years.
Check out a group called "The Honorary Title" the song is called Stay Away.
I envy you getting to listen to that for the first time.
I'm so happy to see Jimmy eat world mind fuck you. One of the most underrated bands of all time
Disintegration, Kill, If You Dont, Dont, Crush...theyre just non stop throughout their whole discography...just beautiful and amazing songs.
This is a really good suggestion! Jimmy Eat World is an amazing band. They have so many great songs, I recommend "Hear You Me" (must listen), "A Praise Chorus", "If You Don't Don't", "Pain", "World You Love", "Drugs Or Me"

Such a brilliant song!

Thank God for Anton! I can go and listen to this masterpiece of a song now.
Oh wait, what have I been doing for the past 20 years?
Lyrically perfect... These guys are so underrated. Talented songwriters, talented musicians, my favorite band of all time. I've seen them FIFTEEN times. They are amazing live. Please marry me Jim Adkins ❤
You should check out Goodbye Sky Harbor on the Clarity album, probably their best album by a long mile IMO.
Dude!!! Yes!! That song is awesome
I think 23 is my favorite song ever, and I'm not even a big Jimmy Eat World fan otherwise. I've known about them since their first hit in the early 2000's when I was in college, and only found this song about 4 years ago.
Give something from Clarity a listen, for me this is heaven or just watch the fireworks. Jimmy Eat World's early work is absolutley stellar.
The guitars in this song are very Cure-esque in parts, in my opinion. I'd be shocked if they said they weren't fans.
Yay!!!! My favorite band!!! Check out Clarity album, you won’t be disappointed!!!
One of the best intro's for any album in the past 30 years.
Incredible song, best they’ve made
What an amazing song you can't say anything else about it ❤
Best Jimmy Eat World song and my favourite song ever
23, Polaris, Kill, Be Sensible, Futures, Big Casino, For Me This Is Heaven, Surviving... I could go on...
The entirety of their albums Clarity, Bleed American, Futures, and Chase This Light are masterpieces...
That being said, if I could pick one song... just one Jimmy Eat World song...
"Dizzy" off of Chase this Light... It's essentially like "23", the closer of that album...

One of the very few songs that you couldn't help but look back at your life and hold your tears. Beautiful.
do "We were promised jetpacks" reaction please, they have a lot of similar songs, very beautiful mood
My favorite song
it reminds me of some of the soft songs but blink 182
If You Don’t, Don’t, For Me This Is Heaven, No Sensitivity
