    @paulpenix8198 4 месяца назад +54

She's not lip syncing. The song is originally sung in a higher range. I am a Metal vocalist still at 54 and the first thing to go is the higher register. Your esophagus begins to collapse as you get older, and vocal folds wear down. She is doing a tremendous job with her vocal and breath control. A true professional vocalist, such as Pat, knows how to manipulate their voice to adjust for father time.

    • @Ilikeryche

For sure. Her voice is still great but it sounds old and worn, she's not hiding that so i don't see the point of lip syncing.

Austin City Limits is a historic venue although I think it's a newer building than the one SRV played in the 80's. But I imagine it's a tough ticket to get and filled with knowledgeable music folks close to the stage. No way you're getting away with any music shenanigans there.

She now has been estimated to have sold over 100M records worldwide and was inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in 2022. Historical contributions - First female artist ever played on MTV. First female artist to sell out the Madison Square Garden. At 71 she still is touring the world with her band and what can you say shes hardcore music royalty. Fact - Pat Benatar is the best selling female rock artist of all time.(Billboard Magazine).

I had a crush on Pat Benetar back in the early 80s and had a full-length poster of her in my US Marine Corps barracks room. My wife and I basically got together because of her music. Her voice is more raspy than it once was and it is obvious that she is singing it in a lower key than the original recording. But, considering her age, she does a great job. I am 66 and still singing gospel music, but can no longer reach those high notes that I used to.

Neil (aka Spyder) is known for his guitar playing, but also occasionally plays piano. On most of their songs Pat writes the lyrics and Spyder then writes the music to fit. (Pat refused to go into the Rock hall of fame for years until they voted them in as a duo...which they have always been. ) Her greatness goes beyond music 🙂

Would love to see you react to an old show called Crossroads where they had country and rock singers perform together, and trade off on each other's songs. Pat was paired with Martina McBride, two epic voices. They started with this, but the really cool one was Martina's single Independence Day (written by Gretchen Peters). Martina looked like such a fan girl when Pat took over the chorus.

I would be hard-pressed to pick a favorite although Hit Me With Your Best Shot would be among the running. I also love Love is a Battlefield, Le Bel Age, We Belong, Shadows of the Night, Heartbreaker, Painted Desert and One Love. Another singer with an amazing set of pipes I would recommend to you is Miljenko Matijevic, fondly known as Mili, and his band Steelheart. You'll be blown away by his vocal range, power, and control on such songs as (Angel Eyes) I'll Never Let You Go, She's Gone, and Can't Stop Me Loving You.

One of my three favorite Pat Benetar songs. Learn and feel these lyrics. She was coming off a divorce. And being Catholic, wasn't easy for her to deal with. She felt she was tainted and not good enough for anyone else. She pushed Neil away for quite awhile. But, he waited and won her heart eventually. And she's not lip syncing to this. This is her in all her powerful glory. The recorded version her tone is slightly brighter......only slightly. Opera trained and knows how to sing.

Pat Benetar and Neil Geraldo are the legit King and Queen of Radio Rock and Roll in America. There may never have been a more successfully continuous married writing and performing team in the Rock genre. They were Arena sell out act almost immediate and were played hourly on all Rock stations. There music is deep, well thought out musically and generally for most unforgettable. Between Pats Superb and Powerful vocals and Neil's Virtuoso writing and musical skill combined with their High Energy Stage presence was/is truly a sight to behold. Also can we truly appreciate the ages these 2 are and how they are as sharp as they were in 1981. Respect.

    Britt,
I have become and admirer of you for your reactions. I am 56 GenX and grew up with the 70's and 80's music and George Carlin and have much respect for your insight and willingness to listen and give honest reactions. I dont agree all the time with you but thats what makes it good, to hear a different perspective. You are engaging and thoughtful and keep up the excellent reactions.

They are amazing. I went back and watched the original and wow. I don't think it was lip synced. But as far as aging gracefully, they are life goals.

Steve Martin in the rain! When I saw them I’m in concert a few years ago, Pat said they had 14 songs they always have to play each show or there was hell to pay the next day on Facebook. Reluctantly, they then did “Hell is for Children”. Imagine having to sing that at 68.

Hi, totally cool you played her. Thank you.
I guarantee you, she is not lip syncing. Pat Benatar was trained to sing opera. Her mom was also an opera singer. When Pat got older she didn’t want to sing opera anymore, she wanted to sing rock & roll.
I have seen Pat in concert many times. Her live voice is perfection. Her range is higher than most (I don’t know how to word this properly).
Please go listen to the recorded version of this song. It is pure rock & roll. The way she would sing in her younger days is very different from today. I promise you will love it.

Pat Beneath is a force to be reckoned with! She has massive hits and an incredible vocal range. I grew up watching her music
videos on MTV. I only remember her with short dark hair and tight clothes! It's amazing seeing her like this. You definitely
need to check out her music videos or listen to her back then. She was right up there with the best female singers in her
time. I'm really bummed and puzzled that she does not show up on these reactions more often. Thanks! Great memories...

Spider is Neil's nickname. Pat is a trained opera singer, that is why she has such an amazing voice and a big range.

One of my first and only teen crushes. Even when we were 15 in the early 80s, we knew Pat was already with Neil. The fact that they are still doing what they have always done is beautiful. I remember when this song came out. It was a dip into the more pop side, which I was not a fan of. But the raw openness of the song was so engaging that it hit hard. Always loved this album

They are fantastic live in concert. One of rock's great unheralded guitarist and songwriters is Neil Giraldo. He is a guitarist's guitarist. They are a captivating couple on stage. The chemistry is awesome.

As others have said, that's Pat and it's not a track. There are a large number of singers that don't lip synch, they just let their older voices convey the real emotions and talent. For one who has aged well - Alice Cooper. he has more energy than he had in the 70s (he's also sober and he wasn't then). His voice has changed but he's still got it

Pat doesn't lip-sync! She was a trained opera singer. So, knew how to keep her voice healthy throughout her career. She's still doing shows here and there. I believe right now there are some shows listed. I've seen her in concert many times over the decades #GenX

Rumor has it, she was booed off the stage at amateur night in the mid-70s for signing opera. She ran back to the dressing room in tears, ripped up her clothes, put on makeup, and went back out and sang rock.

I remember when Pat Benatar had her breakthrough back in 1979. She was one of the first female rock stars. She was also a fashion icon to millions of young girls and women who loved to dress like her. She was replaced as a fashion icon in 1984 by the likes of Madonna and Cyndi Lauper

I saw her in 1989 in Burlington, VT. Amazing singer in recording, but even more impressive live! She has worked hard to keep her voice healthy since then. She can’t hit the high notes she used to though. That is her current aged voice. Yes, Neil is her husband (piano and a stellar guitar player).

Mad respect to Pat Benatar, although eligible for Rock N Roll Hall of Fame for a few dozen years, she insisted her rock guitarist collaborator of a husband could be inducted along side her, given his contributions to their music. Finally, they were allowed to go in together a few years ago.
