Thanks for giving us ways to better ourselves
Oooh Rah! Love this. As a father I take extreme pride in building and developing my son's masculinity. Style, hygiene, etiquette, etc. Just like my dad did with me.
😃
I hope every young man sees this video--a much needed antidote to "toxic masculinity"
"toxic masculinity"
There's no such thing, there are toxic people (men and women) and there are nontoxic people. The term "toxic masculinity" only ever allows the examination of one gender's real or supposed wrongdoings.
Toxic masculinity is a social construct
Antonio, just getting back from Italy and France. The style, manners and sense of purpose is always a segue in your videos. Also, the fragrances, my nostrils were in pure heaven.
What fragrances did you pick up, if any?
Great to always see these early in the morning!
Glad you like them!
Best gentleman channel on this platform))
Antonio, think you can dip a little bit into blue collar work men’s style? Maybe an American blue collar worker history video. I’m a journeyman trade worker in a leadership position. Thanks to you, I’ve developed a wardrobe that fits my career(“normcore style”). I would like more of your insight on this and it may help other young men, such as myself, to combine a manual labor/professional attire.
I work in consulting and I sometimes find it difficult to feel proud of my achievements. Thank you for this, it helped with my own mental locks.
When I was younger I had a mindset of making sure i responded to everything. Having decades of experience and skill, I now respond only to those things which can benefit my clients or myself. Everything else is a waste of time.
This understanding is the most impactful element of my career. It’s been a cornerstone of my success. It’s moved me from the lowest ranking guy in the meeting, to being a top decision maker in the room. Part of what’s fueled that importance factor is changing my level of importance by changing my image. Turns out a pair of Allen Edmonds, and a custom tailored suit and shirt goes a lot farther than my opinion on everything that doesn’t matter.
Kick ass martial artist, articulate, knowledgable, and extremely educated = confidence off the charts!
As always, excellent presentation! I'll be directing my students to this video. Both young men and women will benefit from this knowledge.
I wanna learn from The Best RUclipsr ever
I like to look up borat for masculinity.much success!
Stuff ive learned so far:
- Comparison is the killer of joy.
- You cant be "overdressed", but be aware of cultural identity. Unless youre a rockstar in your field, you might ruffle some feathers rocking up with a bomber jacket to a merger deal dinner. Clothing is about respect. Towards other people, but also yourself - dont go grocerie shopping in sweatpants, dude.
- respect boundaries. If youre approaching someone, keep your distance, have visible hands, and keep eyecontact.
something ive learned from my dad:
He worked in sales all his life. he always had one rule about aquisition. "always take it with humor" - People appreciate you being the initiator - so brake the ice with a joke. seriously, just find something mildly funny about the situation or yourself, and follow it up. you took your own guard down and made the other person more comfortable, and they will likely find it easier to approach your attempt.
Great video, Antonio. Masculinity is not toxic. Weak, compromising, self centered, egotistical men are toxic imo.
My old manager at Merrill Lynch was an excel jockey. GREAT skill to have. He could chop and crunch stats like crazy. Another is maximizing social media… something older guys know is important, but beyond their understanding
Just got off shorts, glad to cool down with a good tip filled video
Excellent video Brother
It's interesting
I'm fortunate to have close friends who are on the opposite end of the political spectrum to myself, and we're able to sit down and compare perspectives & philosophies.
Within the realm of combat sports & self-defense, the attributes that get labeled as "toxic masculinity" are viewed as being a poser, an a-hole, and/or being emotionally constipated.
As you stated, none of these are really masculine behaviors. They're defense mechanisms for insecurities.
I think insecurity is also a major obstacle that keeps dudes from caring more about how they present themselves.
Another home run my friend!! I have a question. You mentioned button down shirt. I am seeing this a lot from different sources. Am I missing something? Is not a button down shirt strictly referring to the collar being buttoned down? Please clarify. Thx!!
Thank you Sir,
Awesome video. I’m thinking about taking up a leadership certification in the college honor society I’m a member of. Is it appropriate, normal, or in season to wear Chelsea boots during the spring or on Easter Sunday to church? I want to try something different for me.
I'll be honest, the vast majority of people won't notice or care beyond noticing that your shoes are made of leather rather than plastic. At least, as long as the boots fit your suit. Pant legs that are too narrow will bulge trying to contain boot shanks. Good news, style is tending back towards wider leg openings if you're looking for new trousers.
I was a baby lawyer and my friend sold custom clothing. He sold to me at cost so I looked amazing. I got mad respect from Judges and other lawyers because they associated that level of clothing with someone with much more experience.
That’s pretty good…as a baby DETECTIVE, I was regularly mistaken for a lawyer because I wore suites and blazers that I took pride in…I can thank my detective mentor who loved suites
I love your wisdom
Just sharing what I know :)
As a style god, I would also cite Jeff Goldblum with its soft and sophisticated masculinity.
What is the brand and year of the motorcycle at 0:09 - 0:12
Or go through some immense hardships, realize that NOBODY really cares about you and use that to stop caring about what others perceive you as. Painful process but it can give you that IDGAF factor you see on Sean Connery while he's introducing himself for the first time in Dr. No.
Don Knotts, Groucho Marx, Moe, Larry and Curly...classic masculinity examples for today's men to follow.
Gents just pick up an pen and start studying
A résumé may get you hired, but being a good fit is very underrated.
We had a SME in the office who doubled down on his counter office culture bad behavior, and was a contrarian pain in the ass. He was impossible to work with.
Get a haircut, a perfume, a decent shoe & an elegant suit. Now Tailor your Attitude to fit the image. You're welcome, dear brothers in the hood of gentlemen.
☺😙😚😘
I wonder if Antonio wears pants in these videos 🤔
Unless you're 6' 2" , have a Sixpack and have the kind of job where you're driving a Lambo to your weekend yacht ride. None of this matters.
That’s not true at all. Look at men in the 40’s and 50’s, especially those with a great family life. Classic gentleman doesn’t require all the crap you just stated.
If you can lead your wife and kids properly, that is what truly matters. I personally believe that only comes with becoming traditionally Catholic. Cause another traditional Catholic woman will allow you to lead because she wants you to lead.
Yea you should be physically strong. A lot of those men back then didn’t have the overly vain body’s of bodybuilders today (credit to the bodybuilder’s that did work for that though cause that’s hard work; although I do think it’s vain).
They were physically strong and capable. They didn’t drive the fanciest cars. They just embodied classically masculine traits
I have none of that and been dating alot lately.
Nothing wrong with healthy masculinity. It is totally different than toxic masculinity which consists of violence, dominance, inability to show emotion, sexual entitlement, and hostility to femininity. Why is masculinity in the name? Masculinity is the attributes, behaviours, and roles associated with men and boys. So when the attributes, behaviours, and roles associated with men and boys (masculinity) is perverted, it's still a version of the attributes, behaviours, and roles associated with men and boys. Let's not run from it or sweep it under the rug. It's become a huge problem especially with boys and more specifically teenage boys becoming adults. Muddying the waters won't help. We need point to people like Antonio (healthy masculinity) as a prime example of how boys and men should be vs people like Andrew Tate (toxic masculinity).
Toxic is subjective
@@Sshooter444I suppose masculinity would be too...
MLK? Thats a weird one
Dreadlocks undo everything that you are trying to achieve by wearing a suit. Why even use this image? Trying to tick a diversity box?
BS
Classic masculinity, you don’t show any examples of classic masculine gay actors…… do you believe this is a heterosexual monopoly?
Are you ok?
Rock Hudson, maybe? Though he wasn't "out" most of his life as I recall. At any rate - after watching Antonio for a few years, I've never caught the hint that this is strictly for straight men. The channel isn't about orientation, it's about being masculine in a good way. If you're getting a different vibe, I encourage you to contact Antonio personally. I've done so several times in response to something in a video, to get more information or offer feedback. He's open, respectful, and thoughtful. Worth a try. Peace, friend.
There’s always that one person who just can’t help themselves🤦🏾
@@russwhaley it was just a question folks. Not an atttack. Never mind a personal attack. Just a question.
@@jenxsj3902 No worries - I didn't see it as an attack. One of my children is gay, thought it a fair question.
I've gotten picked up by more women just for smoking a cigarette or a cigar.
