      @@CheJoffre That would be cool. It makes me sad that we have to wait for all the iterations of the PPQ that came out, all over again for the PDP. It feels like we are on a merry-go-round. I hope their timeline for rolling out stuff isn't as slow as it was for the PPQ. We should be able to get a version with a threaded barrel right away instead of waiting for them to "launch" a whole new "model". That's what I find so frustrating about cosmetic relaunches of guns. It's like watching a remake of Spider Man.

      @stopthephilosophicalzombie9017 3 года назад +1

      @@CheJoffre There really shouldn't be any kinks as the barrel and internals are basically the same. The only thing that I saw that looks like a possible sign of trouble is a lot of frame to slide wiggle on Graham's example.

    Walther sent out my RMR plate in 2 business days which was very impressive. But once I finally revived it I realized they do not provide and screws. The screws that come with RMR are way to long. After many very unhelpful calls to Walther I figured out on my own that the screws that are needed are #6-32 3-8”. Even Walther couldn’t tell me this. My worry is what if debris gets into that open channel of the “spacer recoil channel” of the 4.5”? Will this affect the performance or will that channel be sealed well inside and make no difference. • @GBGuns

      It could be for sure. How much that really mater depends on your intended use. Walther offers a Tungsten guide rod and the slide is cut to accept Glock-patter sights, so the option to upgrade is there. I think for the factory gun they were aiming at keeping cost down. With an MSRP of 650 I think they're still over delivering. The PDP really is an impressive gun and a great price.

    I’m in the market for a new pistol, I’m looking for something in the larger compact to full size frame (probably in 9mm). I’m coming from a Springfield XDM 3.8 Compact in 40 S&W, which was my first pistol (carry pistol). I’m debating between the CZ P10C/F, the S&W M&P 2.0 either the 4” compact, 4.25” full size, or the 5” performance center (ported), and the Walther PDP line.
    My main question is if you’ve ever shot the M&P 2.0 with the APEX trigger, and how would that compare to the stock triggers of the CZ P10 and the new Walther PDP. Secondarily how are the three compared to each other in terms of shootability, speed, recoil? Reason I’m asking the second question, is one of the things that slightly bother me with the XDM is the higher bore axis compared to say an M&P. I know bore axis is not the only defining element to overall feel, but I haven’t had the chance to shoot all three of these pistols, so I have to ask someone that has.
    As far as carry considerations, I’m 6’2 280-300Lbs, so I don’t mind carrying a larger gun, particularly when it comes to barrel length. Also since I already have a compact, if I need to carry something smaller that day, I can.

    How concerned do you think we should be about that polymer insert warping/breaking over time, or not working well with aftermarket steel guide rods?

    • @GBGuns
      @GBGuns  3 года назад +1

      I trust it to be of the same material the frame is, so it shouldn't warp. As far as compatibility with an aftermarket guide rod: that's the aftermarket's job to make it work. I really don't think one is needed in the PDP as it shoots so flat to begin with.

    • @themightymongoose8498
      @themightymongoose8498 3 года назад

      @@GBGuns Cool beans, and thanks. Yeah, I was actually confused. I thought it would be freely moving like the plastic buffer piece on an HK45 guide rod but it's not it's pretty much wedged to the front the whole time. And since the opening matches the factory guide rod, there's no reason it shouldn't work with an already existing PPQ steel aftermarket if it's made to specs. I just didn't use my head, and I'm one of those irrational types that worry about unlikely-to-break polymer guide rods. What can I say? It made my teeth itch. But I've decided to trust Walther. I think it can easily be said that there are riskier decisions one can make in life. You do really, REALLY good videos, btw. Hey, just picked this gun up and it's my first ever pistol. I have a question about cleaning it. As of right now I only have ballistol and CLP. Can the outside polymer of the gun be cleaned with either product and then wipe up any access with a dry patch? I know both can be used as a cleaner/lubricant on the inside of the gun, I was just Alittle worried about leaving it on the polymer on the outside or if I should use something totally different for that.

    • @GBGuns
      @GBGuns  2 года назад

      For the polymer I'd stay away from chemicals. Most everything on the polymer should just wipe off with a damp cloth. Congrats on a great choice for a pistol!

    • @TerminalM193
      @TerminalM193 2 года назад

      @@GBGuns thank you for the reply! So, what do you like to use on the polymer of your guns then? I've noticed quite a bit of carbon caked on all the polymer around the crown of the barrel and the rail / accessory line under the barrel, "where flashlights usually go". I ended up just using a tiny bit of CLP to wipe away the majory then used a microfiber to get up anything left behind and it cleaned up nice but like you said I probably shouldn't keep using anything with chemicals on it.

    • @GBGuns
      @GBGuns  2 года назад

      Just check the labels to make sure they're safe for polymer. I just use a damp cloth and a brush, but honestly I only clean guns when their performance degrades or to prevent rust.

      First off, if it's hard to rack the slide on your 92 have you tried thumbing back the hammer first? That makes it a lot easier with hammer-fired guns. As far as the Walthers, they all use the same spring so a longer slide won't necessarily get you an easier slide to rack, but for shooting experience I think you'd find them quite the upgrade from the 92 compact.
