As a new gun owner I didn't know much about Walther or any other brand of firearms, but I bought this gun last summer and it does not disappoint. Its just really esthetically pleasing to hold and shoot. The grip really bites into your hand which gives that "I'm in control" kinda feeling which I think is important. The recoil does take some getting used to but overall this gun gets a 10/10 for me. I plan on changing out the rear sight and adding a red dot to it as well. Just a really great gun.

Totally agree man, awesome option with the pdp except for the fat slide. I’m thinking of getting one really soon. A big question is if the compact can take an 18rd mag I think it can
I prefer the 4" compact size over the larger full size PDP. I had a brief chance to get a new PDP 9mm full size with the LE officer, mil price: $520.00 but elected to wait for a 4" compact. From what I know these PDPs take Glock after market sights. I'd add this new engineered design to up the 9mm vel & punch 🥊 sounds good. If the PDP line can feed, cycle 💯 that's my main concern.

I’m so happy Walther didn’t change the best parts about the ppq. They left the same grip shape and profile, left the internals the same so we know it’s going to be a proven and reliable platform. They simply updated a few things people complained about like the grip texture aggressiveness and ability to mount an optic without deleting the rear sight. Both wins in my book. Maybe now the ppq will come down in price and I can score one for a good deal 😂. Good review and nice gun!

@@stopthephilosophicalzombie9017 yes, the Creed is a fine weapon in its own right. I just haven’t been “attached” to it. I’d like the PDP much better me thinks.
That's all about your own preferences. The PDP compact is smaller than what I usually carry, but it comes down to personal preference, clothing style, holster, carry location, etc
It’s an absolute beauty. Currently Walther has no plan to release this with the paddle magazine release. I totally understand that in the US market it’s not that popular, however I prefer the paddle release and hope they do so in the future.
my first edition PPQ had the paddle mag release and I thought it much superior to the USA style grip button release. Most who tried it actually preferred it or said they thought they could get used to it very quickly.
All of my Walther’s (PPQ, P99) except for my PPK have the paddle mag release. My carry gun, the HK VP9SK, has it too. Since I have smaller hands, I’m able to actuate it better by using my middle finger instead of having to re-position my grip to hit a button style release with my thumb. To each their own though. It comes down to preference and training. I’ve trained my whole life with paddles so I’m better with that. Here’s to hoping Walther offers the PDP with it in the future! ;)
Only 1 dealer in town got these. They only got 2. Both full size . I got lucky and took one home. Very nice, I will look for the compact later on. Have the PPQ M2,PPS. Both excellent pistols. This one seems as good if not better. Have not tried it out yet.

I recently built a thousand dollar glock 19 using a polymer80 lower. This gun basically has the same exact features besides for it having no night sights or aluminum trigger. It's honestly one of the best deals I've seen in a really long time. If I would have known this was coming I would have never built a p80. Im definitely going to buy one!! . Im going to wait a year and let the company work out any problems it might have. It seems like most gun's have minor issues throughout the first year. Yes. Walther website has a list of compatible parts, PPQ-PDP, and the threaded barrel is not specifically listed but I know of no reason it wouldn’t work on the 4” model PDPs. You should ask them for clarification before shelling out a couple of hundred for one.
@@ontarget1312 Care to explain? My PPS M.2 RMSc is pretty much everything I want in an EDC handgun. This is not a huge departure aside from the double stack mag which makes it heavier and less comfortable to carry.
@@jamesg8246 I have the PPS M2 non-optics ready and the PPQ M2. PDP is essentially an upgraded optics ready PPQ. Which is relative in size to the Glock 19, CZ -P10C, HK VP-9, M&P-9 ect. The PDP also comes in a larger variant comparable to a G-17 or duty size. PPS is a single stack subcompact=shorter barrel, shorter grip and thinner ( Glock 43, Mp Shield). A Walther PPQ subcompact, Glock 26, HK-VP9sk, are double stack subcompacts( compact - subcompact used differently by different brands). This looks very similar to a Canik TP9SF Elite I used to have. One thing, if not the only thing, I didn't like about the Canik was the sight plane was so high above my hand. It shot well, but was kinda heavy for the size. This looks like it could be about the right size. I have a G43x now, so I'm not really looking now, but Walther is one that seems to actually improve things, instead of just make the same thing but cheaper.

One gripe I have with Walther is magazine availability. You can never find PPQ magazines in stock. I know mecgar makes the magazines. Is Walther that much of a German manufacture penny pincher that they can't put in a large order with mecgar?

Good Review, I just picked one of these up over the weekend! On a separate note, your time code for the trigger talk, is wrong. It should be 16:36, but instead it's 6:36.
I want to call it the Personal Defense Pistol as well. Just rolls off the tongue. I've heard it called that by others also. I just got back from Cabelas in Virginia and sadly they didn't have one in stock despite showing it on their website. I was going to drop the money then and there. All in all it looks like a great update to the PPQ, but I honestly can't understand why they did it now when the market is screaming for micro-9mm guns, from Glock's 43 line to Sig's P365 which apparently was the best selling gun last year. I hope they do well with this, but the PPS and/or CCP deserve an update (with improved capacity) also.

I love my PDP and we are selling out daily in 3 hours.
All guns are selling out daily where I live
13:39 Such question please. DE means Germany. What does CA mean? And what does that petal symbol or what it is mean. It is engraved directly after CA. Please reply.
I've seen it demonstrated that you can put a PDP slide on a PPQ. It would be interesting to see a PDP slide on a Q4 SF grip....
Haha, I posted a pic of the PDP 5" on PPQ M1 frame. The Steel Frames are different and not reverse compatible
@@GBGuns That's a drag. Oh well, thanks for the reply.
No problem. If it helps the PDP frame shape and feel is basically a polymer version of the Q4 SF
I'm buying this gun. That being said, the pinky pressure is nonsense. My ppq has it and doesn't come with red dot cuts.
Thank you for this review, can you do additional reviews to help left handed shooters please.
Good Review, I just picked one of these up over the weekend! On a separate note, your time code for the trigger talk, is wrong. It should be 16:36, but instead it's 6:36.
Thanks
Can't wait for what's for dinner. 👍☕😎
I have the full size freaking awesome
I like it , might need to make another purchase ...
Good Video. I'm definitely getting one.
2 Models
There is actually a Third Model in the Wild . . .
RifleGear in Dallas had ONE

That’s the one I want
@@johnnysilverhand6045 Why do you want that one?

@@GBGuns Will do👍,Single Father in Georgia (USA).
Curious how it will do on the range.
That video will be out soon
@@GBGuns Looking forward to your review!
First time Walther owner. I’ve had this gun for a week. I can’t see myself ever parting from it.
Welcome to Walther ownership!
Very cool looking gun
No factory target is included by Walther now? And no paddle mag release. Dammit, I'll still buy one but I must protest!
I have the 5" PPQ with paddle mag release sold at Gunbuyer.com.
Got it in black for about 469.
They offer colored barrels for more.
