- The Walther PDP is an upgrade over the PPQ. It's optics ready, has a better grip texture, more pronounced slide serrations and improved trigger. Plus it's Walther Quality. Thanks to Walther for Sending the PDP for this T&E. #WaltherPDP #WaltherPPQ #NewWalther

Proud to say this was the first firearm I have ever purchased.
Aw that's cool.
Welcome!!
So what do you think?
Same!
That is great!! We need to make sure this will continue in the future!! Stop the Communist regime!!!!
I don't think Uncle Sootch knows this and he may never well know... But 95% of all my firearm knowledge comes from him... And I'm halfway across the planet... Love from 🇿🇦 ♥ Lord please keep uncle sootch and his great fam safe and healthy
Not Forgotten Weapons?
You're hands down one of the most thorough firearm reviewers on RUclips. I always watch your videos over anyone else haha ! Keep it up man
Wicked handle… My old one used to be CoryLahey
Me 2
Absolutely I’m sold on that gun
No one reviews a firearm like you sootch. Your channel is the only one I can say that when I walk away every question has been answered. Excellent video as usual!!
Who needs a stepped chamber to keep a weapon cleaner? I’ve got an ammo shortage that does the same thing
😆😆😆 hilarious. Hate the truth of that!
😂
😂
Walther. Exceptional pistols. If you don't have one, you're seriously missing out!
My backup for my PPQ is another PPQ then I’ll go for my P365
@@BalrogUdun My backup for my Walther P99 Gen 1 is another P99 Gen 1 in 9mm but I would love to get that Q4 SF as well to compliment my two P99's !!!! Bond !! James Bond !!!!
Hell yeah. I still have my grandfathers service pistol, an old Walther PPK and it’s just an awesome piece of history. Great, great gun, eats basically every ammunition you put trough it.
EDIT: I know many people seem to have some problems with many Walther models, but personally I never had a problem (German production)
I was going to get a Sig M-18. Not anymore this gun is better.
Man what ever alien tech Walther uses for their grips and triggers is awesome. The grips on the new Walters are OUT OF THIS WORLD ! 👽
I handled one in the store. The grip texture really is awesome.
How much was it going for?

For a couple of years, I've been running a PPQ Navy, which is a helluva gun and VERY underrated in the marketplace. So saying this is an improvement over the PPQ says a lot. Never thought I'd consider switching for anything but the improvements and the magazine/barrel compatibility between the platforms has me considering it. Well done Walther!
I've had a PPQ .45 SD for a few years now and know EXACTLY what you mean. VERY underrated. Sadly, nobody makes a level 2/3 holster for it so I'm forced to go with a 9mm. Sooo, I just ordered a full size PDP Pro SD the other day. Can't wait!
DP will be a very popular gun, there are not many pistols that are designed as combat guns, I'm going to be sorry for the p99 and the PPQ to be gone, thank you for another wonderful video I appreciate it I have been watching your videos for several years now keep up the good work thank you so much ,God bless you !!!
Always enjoy your gun reviews. Right to the point and the blooper reel is a lot of fun!
Took a look at the Compact at my LGS this week and fell in love with it. Compared it with the FN 509, CZ P10C, HK VP9 etc. This had the best trigger (with the 509 and VP9 coming in pretty close). The reset in particular on the Walther is SO tactile and crisp and getting back on it is just /chef's kiss/. I'm 100% planning on picking one up very soon. As always a fantastic review! Your content is way underrated.
This pistol is an absolute beast. It feels just like the Q4 SF but half the weight. The slide is no nonsense. The grip is INSANE.
Los mejores reviews de armas en you tube. Another great video
Traded in my PPQ for the 4.5” PDP at BassPro a couple of weeks ago. LOVE that grip! Still getting used to the lighter, shorter trigger, wall and taller front sight. Still, very happy I traded up.
Love this new Walther PDP system. Grear review as always!!
The Walther PDP model is so outstanding! I first bought the PDP full size 5" barrel 18+1. It is sooo extraordinary that it motivated me to buy the PDP compact 4" barrel 15+1. So, yeah, I have me two PDPs with zero complains.
I too bought the 5" full size, primarily for shooting Police Action and Practical Pistol. Now I'm seriously considering buying the 4" Compact to replace my PPS M2 as my carry gun. I'm 6' 220lbs and reckon my tactical belly is enough to hide it 😂
Sootch, another great review! You are probably the first firearms RUclips channel I ever watched and sub’d and you are still doing a fantastic job and it’s awesome to see all the growth of your channel!
God Bless Bro,
Rick
Brought my first PDP on Saturday 4''inch compact, thanks to your information and advice as well as a few other youtubers and I simply love this handgun ( BTW Sarah looks cool shooting from that camera angle ) . Thanks a lot , subbed and will continue to watch and learn and enjoy your content .
Best PDP review i have seen so far.
Thank you. I will have one by the end of the year.
What a great looking pistol. Nice review Sootch00, keep up the good work.
I’ve been in the market for my first handgun for a few weeks and have decided on a PDP. I’ve watch about ten PDP reviews (all great) and this is hands down the best
How did it work out for you if you got it?!?! I been on the same track as you looking for my first pistol. PDP has crossed my view several times
Stoeger Str-9f is equal in class. And under $400
Best firearm reviewer hands down! You are much appreciated! Keep them coming Brother! God Bless!
Take my money! My PPQ is my favorite handgun of all the ones I have. I can’t wait to get this one 😍
I’ve still got mixed feelings about it, I love love love my PPQM1 !
Looks like an aggressive beast of a handgun!! Can't wait to check one out in person.
Thanks for the info!
I've had a PDP compact for a couple weeks now, and I'm impressed with everything about this gun so far. Ergos, grip texture, slide serrations, trigger, accuracy. If this gun is as durable as the PPQ and Q5 walther knocked it out of the park with this gun. Oh and Sootch you'll love how it shoots with an optic.
How well does it conceal? One thing I really liked about the PPQ is the easy concealability thanks to the slope of the slide. This looks really blocky.
how many inches groups in 25 yards?
Was curious do you find it to be a little snappy? I shot a 5in today and was surprised how snappy it was for such a big gun. I enjoyed it but that kind of turned me off buying one. The trigger is crazy how light it feels
Went to look for ammo and grab fluorocarbon this morning, ended up leaving with one of these in compact and the ergonomics, slide serrations ,stipling and trigger feel great. Nice to hear they're working on a 18 round magazine for the compact. Good Review!
Sootch00 - your channel was one of the first I gun-related ones I got to watch and still watching! Quality is top, reviews are objective and useful. I'm a Walther collector, so I'm keeping the P99, the PPQ and getting the PDP. Cheers!
I have a 1951 Walther 9mm in good shape. Would trade for the pdp. Will look for your response. Shooters world needs to make a HUGE profit. Tells me sell to private party.
Was really hoping Walther would come out with a stack n a half PPS M2, that had 10+ rounds to compete with the P365 & Hellcat. I was somewhat disappointed that they didn’t, however this is a great option especially for LEOs, as more agencies are allowing officers to carry RDOs! If I was still in LE, I’d definitely want to carry the 4” full size, as I don’t have enough tactical girth, for a 4.5” or longer barrel, without it digging into the seat, making me sit at a weird angle, which puts a lot of pressure on your lower back.
I am seeing other manufacturers scrambling because of competition, the PDP by Walther, looks great!
Soootcchhhhh you have no idea how I've been waiting for your review and yours only with the PDP. Thanks and god bless!
Awesome review. Thanks for going over the compatibility between the PDP and PPQ Navy threaded barrel.
Think Walther is gonna get my money soon. Great vid again, sir! Greets, T.
This will absolutely be my next gun
Checking in! Did you get it yet?? It's been 8 months. That should be n+1 gun over the past few months.
@@filsdemorte1242
I did. The 4.5”
Love the new upgrades! Looks awesome! Might consider purchasing one, thanks for the info.
Finally. Walther puts their name in the correct place. I never understood why it was in the slide milling. Aggressive and impressive looking. Thanks sootch!
As always.. great gun review.. i only trust this guy for a detailed firearm review.. satisfied subsciber here👍👊

Looks and sounds like a good gun. Told my wife earlier today I was going to order a new gun. Just might get this one too. :)
I really enjoy your videos.
Thanks.
I really like my walther's.
The PDP will be a good addition

You know I've been watching your channel for a long time as usual and very good review you help me make up my mind for a lot of guns thank you for all your help
Love the music and obviously the reviews
Was waiting on your review
I liked this since I first saw it. Like it even more now!
I found it amazing that the PDP has a lighter slide than the PPQ even though it has those beefed up serrations. Obviously did some milling somewhere to compensate for it. Great review, thx.
Just ordered one thanks Sootch!!!
I can't even think of getting a new firearm right now. I have a good bit of ammo put up, (factory & my reloads) but I'm afraid to shoot any of it 🙄... Primers are harder to find than ammo & I won't even start with the outrage prices on everything. A damn shame. I'm so ready for this crap to be over with.
Not going to happen with Biden as President
Dean Firnatine Yup, it’s the fear and group-think of mainstream conservatives that create these shortages and prices. Guess who that benefits? Gun manufacturers love Democrat presidents. If only everyone was reasonable, these things wouldn’t happen.
@@snakejuice4300 you make it sound like publicly making plans to increase taxes on ammo, ban online sales and creating a new gun ownership tax isn't a realistic concern. Will the gun manufacturer companies still love democratic presidents when sales lower due to this ammo shortage. You're right about one thing though, if everyone was more responsible these things wouldn't happen. Mainly voting for people who are historically anti gun.
@@deanfirnatine7814 right now the pandemic has priority. Expect that to last into late 2021. Then the priority will be restoring this decimated economy. I’ll be genuinely shocked if they get to any gun control measures before 2023.
I work at a local Cabelas and the demand for ammunition seems to be lessening a bit. Plus, with the restrictions we have in place, more of our customers are starting to get their hands on ammunition and primers. I know it doesn't seem like it but things have been getting better since the end of January.
I just bought the 4" compact version today! I was surprised they are already out there. The grip and texturing is amazing! I did not know that it takes Glock sights though.... interesting...
How much did it cost?
@@Kevin-oy8nl $599 + tax
Don’t shop gun broker, they want over msrp when stores are selling for under msrp.
Is it true? Does it accept Glock sights?
Noice, I’m liking it. Keep it up Sootch! Always great content
Wonderful gun. I bought the 4.5" and couldn't be happier.

@@Rorschach__NoCompromise I have a PPQ M2 Tac Ops and my first ever full size pistol is a P99. PK380 as well. I have had no problems with any of them. The PDP will join the family and this family is staying together with me.
So like. 25 rounds of 9mm? Lol
Capacity of a ppq?
Can't wait 2 see a PDP vs CZ P10 C
I am looking forward to seeing this go through the "gauntlet" test.
@Xavier Sanchez Yes. The PDP full size is 18+1. Most full size pistols are 17+1, although the compact size is 15+1 like most other compact pistols.
Lol... I have both and would make a video on which I think is better... but I'm an introvert and talk bad on camera...

Both have amazing trigger, but I like the ergonomics of the PDP just a little more.
Always love your videos man keep em rollin!!
I bought a PDP F because of its compact size. This pistol is awesome with great grip and trigger. Very smooth and solid construction. Thanks Don for reviewing this Walther.
I hope they make a subcompact of this one day! The ‘compact’ is the size of a VP9, both are 5.4” in height with 4” barrels.
Can’t wait to get my hands on one of these, seems like they really got this one right!
I hope they make one as well I’ll be one of the first in line for it
Agreed
They just released a smaller version called the f-series……marketed towards females!smh I wish Walther would have just named it the s-series for subcompact!
I've been trying to decide between the PPQ and VP9.... Now i got to decide between the VP9 and PDP 😂
Awesome video in going to really look into this... Especially for that price
PDP all the way!
VP9 is such a solid choice. I havnt shot the PDP yet. It sounds like you cant go wrong with either one
the Walther size and weight surpassed Glock let alone Hk.
The P99 was my favorite ccw pistol. My son has it now. I may be needing another Walther in my life. 😎
I absolutely love this gun, can't wait to get one.
I was wondering where was Sootch's review. Great as always!
It's like "The Hummer" of Walther Firearms... (and I know you are partial to that look), I am still stuck on the PPS Classic design ';-)
Yes.. I think the PPS M1 is awesome.. love that thing.. wish it had n off set staggered mag for more rounds though.. but it's so slim and the finger grooves fit my large size hands perfectly..
PPS M1 is my primary carry piece and i love it. Went into my local store just to check things out and walked out with it. I've heard mixed reviews about the trigger, its what sold me, why do some say its bad?
@@nateb4543
I dunno.. I think the trigger is fine.. no massive reset.. the best thing about the m1 is the paddle mag release.. I don't have to worry about my big hands accidentally hitting the mag release like on all the other small.. single stacks.. I got behind the Glock 42, 43, LCP, LC9, lc9s pretty much every single stack out at the time.. I either released the mag or they wanted to slip out of my hand.. I thought the PPS was the most comfortable, accurate, and it didn't feel like it wanted to slip out of my hand, plus I didn't accidentally release the mag
@@agent7574 Full disclosure, I haven't had dozens of pistols over multiple decades. Maybe its cause the last gun before that was an original m&p. Made the pps seem better than it was? I prefer paddle release. No oversized hands but got used to it with my first (real) gun, a usp compact.
@@nateb4543
I didn't own those firearms.. I wanted a ccw that was the best for me.. So I got behind almost every firearm that had a slide that was 1 inch wide or less at the time..
There is nothing wrong with the PPS.. the only people complaining about it are the people that customize their triggers or shoot guns that cost over $1000...
This is a great firearm. It has replaced my G19 5 Gen everyday carry. This thing is several steps up from my stock or modified Glock. Running Holosun 508T-RD and Olight PL-Mini 2 with a L.A.G. Tactile holster.
Very well informed and very well presented.
Another great video. Thanks.
Just in time, another great firearm to purchase for protecting my life..
Uowwwwww 😍🎯
From Brazil, brother ! 🇧🇷
Great review as always. Thank you.
This is the best gun of 2021, namely because of availability. These are available in much greater numbers at gun stores than most other guns. Plus the price point at most gun stores is $599, that’s a steal of a price.
Stop it. Your PPQ Review sold me on that gun. I’m on a budget man
There are no lug grooves on the optic plate. It's not really optics compatible. I'll take the PPQ all day long. Hell with the red dot if I can add night sights.
When you see a new gun but still want the ammo more lol.
When I heard the Walther PDP was announced, I was looking forward to your thoughts. Thanks for making another great video!
Nice gun, I have the PPQ and absolutely love it
I wish they would have gone with the paddle drop mag release.
The paddle is liked by a few, but, I suspect H&K introduced all the normal mag button models for a reason!
They saw that the PPQ M2 outsold the M1 in the U.S. by something like 10 to 1, and just stopped fighting an uphill battle. No point in selling a feature people don't buy. I wish they did too, but I've pretty much given up on begging Walther to make the right choices and listen to their hardcore fanbase. They should have had a P365 to market by this point also and they ignored everyone hollering for that too.
It is a lot better than a button
Every time He sells me a gun. He has to find and tell me why this ones a better gun...
Same. I was saving up for a Springfield Ronin after his video from a few months ago. That would have been my first 10mm pistol and I probably would have bought it by now if it wasn't for all the holiday gifts I had to purchase. Then he comes and gives us his opinion on the Walther PDP. I'm absolutely torn now.

Damnit man! You’re causing me to spend money, again. Watched your review of the Glock 29 and was finally able to find one on the blue label program. Now, I’m going to be on the search for one of these. Good review as always.
Great reveiw on fine details excellent as usual, another fine buddy from Walther. PS Tx.
Great review, but I didn’t see a difference between the take up of the triggers. “A considerable amount less.” I watched it a few times, and they looked identical.
Neither did I. It looks the same or maybe marginally better at best. Kinda seems like he is just trying to sell ppq owners on the pistol; nothing against Sootch though, and the ppq is a good gun.
When he reviewed the CZ P10C he said it had a better trigger than the PPQ, which it objectively doesn't. He says what he's paid to say.
Wish it was also available in 45 ACP
Yes and 380
@@pappaclutch3266 why 380 ?

Great review. Got one on hold right now, buying in a few days!!
I first bought a Walther PPSM2 and was so pleased that my wife surprised me with the PDP 4.5” full sized. Put a Holosun RedDot and a MCG Laser on it, and I can tear the center out of dead center. Love this firearm! Probably try to find a 4” Compact next to carry instead of the PPS.
My local gun store is probably sick of me calling and asking “did you get the new Walther PDP in stock?”
Lol
My local gun store is empty.
My LGS had all 3 models on Friday. Even my crappy Cabela's had the compact in stock and they almost never have any Walthers in the case.

Ever since purchasing the Creed, I've become a big fan of Walther.
I love my P99as and will NEVER sell it. I e owned 2 PPQs and ended up selling them. Wonder if the PDP might be the ticket for me.
The PPQs have pronounced high bore axis, and I was hoping it has been reduced on the PDP. Doesn't seem to be the case.
Walther doesn't really seem to be pushing the envelope in the engineering department these past few products.
I loved mine as well. The single action mode is the best feeling trigger of any polymer pistol, ever. Not nearly enough traction on the grip though. I wound up selling it and kept my PPQ M1.
Very jealous the p99 is my dream gun even though it’s older.
I just bought a new PDP...AWESOME!!!!!
Just wanted you to know, been following you for so long. This one time? You came out with this one, I bought it just minutes ago. Just so *you* know. I truly trust you
Do the sites co witness with the optic when it’s on there
No , you would need to switch the sights..good thing is.. it takes Glock 17.19.19x sights..
PPQ also has stepped chamber...
I believe the barrels on these are the same as the ppq.
I’m just really happy that Walther changed their grip design (Stipling). I love the new design more. And the trigger is better with less than 5 lbs.
Triggers should be less than 5 lbs.
Even a constant 4.8 lbs is 💯% 👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️
I have the PPQ in 45 and 9mm. Two of my favorite pistols so now I need a PDP
