Lexus reached out to me unexpectedly. Randomly got a letter in the mail one day. They completely replaced my dash, door panels, and interior. Free of charge. Even gave me a free rental while I waited. THANKS LEXUS!!
You’re so lucky, dude! I made 2 appointments with them and they wouldn’t replace anything. I really wish the previous owner of my car had done something about it.
Thats awesome! I just got an Infiniti G37s sedan for my wife. I wonder if they offer something similar. Its not horrible but it could definitely be better.. its annoying.
Thanks for the video very helpful. Toyota / Lexus your absolutely horrible this recall should never had an end date It is a major safety problem with the glare and sticky residue that sticks to my front window .
No, we appreciate you taking the time and research to put together this video. My dash isn't crumbling but I am experiencing the sticky leather which seems to be spreading. Lexus is giving me the run around so I assume I will be "stuck" with the stickiness until now. Thanks for this video.
So hear me out hear, I do love a way to red neck things. I fixed my sticky dash, by spraying brake and clutch cleaner on a cloth and scrubbing the crap out the the dash. Then once everything was dry I do the same with matt black boot Polish, wiped off the excess and done. Looks great, smells great, repeat ever six months.
Thank you Mark for your ingenuity. You gave us all hope in a bad situation. I just bought a 2008 Lexus. Saw the dash and thought someone had dropped a drink or such on it. I was wrong lol . Going to get the sticky dash fix and give it a shot.
I purchased this directly from the manufacturer located in Australia. I have a 2009 Camry with a sticky dash. In the summer I thought the whole dashboard might melt away into a big messy blob. In the winter it (my dash) wasn't affected that much. My order was taking way to much time, so I contacted the manufacturer who said they would send me another one. Two days after the manufacturer said they would be sending another package out, I got my original package in the mail. So now I had two packages. I waited for a nice cool fall day to begin cleaning the dash with the cleaner formula, but after I got it cleaned it would be another year before I applied the actual product. Not sure why maybe pure laziness, or procastination on my part is my guess ? Anyway I got a job driving for Uber recently and that's when I decided to use this poroduct. The reflections coming from my windshield were just too much ! I had to strain just so I could see past the glare. Enough was enough, so I put a first coat on the dashboard. That first coat helped, but I could still see some glare reflecting from some areas of the dash. So I added a second coat, then a third, which totally solved my glare problem. The product matches the color of my dashboard(grey), petty much, but unfortunately while cleaning, I sort of wiped away the leather-like texture of the dash. Now its a smooth textureless dashboard, but at least the glare is gone ! I might add another coat just to make everything nice and even and pretty. This is a good product, especially if you are going to be driving your car a lot. Another reason why I hesitated, was that I hardly ever drove my car. Just 10 minutes to work and back, but now driving for Uber this thing is a must !
Man I remember having this problem with my '07 Camry. After years of having a sticky dash, Toyota gave me a golden ticket in the form of a recall to have it replaced 😊
@@HardCorps88 You continue calling and persist that Toyota has always been your choice for quality etc. They’re of a higher standard and this is unacceptable.
I'm applying the product as we speak. Waiting for the first coat to dry. For me, I got the recall notice, but lived in CA and so the dashboard wasn't sticky. Moved to AZ a year or two later and, well, yeah, now I know what why people were so pissed. The recall has gone, though, so I hope this product works.
Thanks for the vid bro, I have the same issue with my 07/Camry. It’s a shame that Toyota and Lexus can’t stand up and take care of this issue like they’re supposed to. Personally, I would never buy another Toyota again.
man to be honest the edges around the air vents dont look too good but overall a god result. I have tried it some time ago myself and finished with a good dark grey alcantara Keep up the good work mate.
Yeah man I have a 2,07 Avalon and bought it at a dealership 2,021 like 6 months and I noticed there’s a lot of cracks looking a way to fix it sharing around how to fix it or maybe maybe take in to get it fix but around San Diego will coat too much but let’s see if I can do it first thank you for sharing your video is very helpful 😊
It's one of those kinds of do it yourself job that works out better on your second attempt. Unfortunately, you usually don't get that opportunity. I bet that if you had another opportunity you would have gotten the edge around the multi-display looking much better. But, that's what your video is for. My dash (2008 Solara Convertible) is very sticky has some serious cracks that will be a challenge to repair. I'll take some before and after pics. I'm very detailed oriented and fully expect to be dissatisfied no matter what BUT the dash must be sealed now, before it's too late. So, here I go!
I don't have my 2IS anymore but I wish I knew about this when I had it! I researched and researched and never found anything on it! Great vid because the sticky dash litterally ruined the whole car for me. I did fix some holes with sugru when I was fixing the chips from removing my head unit
The best thing to do is to take it to a car shop and have some premium cloth like alcantara glued to the dashboard i have seen many people do it and it makes the dahboard look better then the original gives the car little more premium feel
Nice way to restore your dashboard, unfortunately here on Guam most Lexus IS250/350 I've seen is beyond repair. They ended up buying a dashboard cover. I was told a while back that Lexus has placed a recall on 2006-2012 IS250/350 and 2008-2014 ISF models, just take your car to the Lexus dealership service center, have them run your cars VIN if they have the dashboard and panels on hand they'll replace it. Best to call 1st since most dealerships are far in some places of the USA. I bought my 2012 ISF 2017 back on Oahu , the good thing about it was the previous owner used it as a show car and kept in his garage majority of the time. Since I had it shipped to Guam I keep it in my garage and when I go to work or any where I always use my windshield dash cover it helps and protects my car's dashboard. Only thing that I had repaired was the Valley plate leak which will happen to all Lexus ISF performance cars. You did a nice job on your repair, I can't help to notice you have a aftermarket infotainment system. Have you seen the Tesla styled ones?
There's a strong rumor (from a Lexus service manager) that in the near future Lexus might address dashboard (the p'leather? skin) splitting on GX470. I didn't know about the Lexus dash issues because I was only looking for a GX470 until I happened across this video. The GX470 I finally bought has a split that wanders the width of the vehicle. It's not bad if it doesn't get worse. Nothing compared to the horror show of the Lexus melting dashboards. Chevy had a problem with the plastic dash used in some of their dually pickups. It cracked & broke up on passenger side. I'm betting they'll do a bit more hothouse (cab in summer conditions) testing of these materials.
Great video! I have an ‘08 that is mechanically sound, but is disintegrating on doors and dash. Reached out to Lexus in Dallas, TX and they told me straight out that will not fix it! Funny thing is, I bought this in November 2015, the recall went to the previous owner in October of 2015. Lexus even mailed me other recall letters, but never followed up with a new one about this issue to me... super frustrating as I maintain this vehicle super well. This is the only thing I’ve seen that can help me get the interior looking as good as I maintain the engine. Again, thanks for sharing!
Looks great!!! My dog actually damaged my back door trim with her nails. Wish you would have slowed down and zoomed in when you were applying the putty and sugru.
Lexus totally dropped the ball on this recall by offering it to countless people and then screwing countless people. There was actually a class action against Lexus over this. The recall program ceased about four years ago now as I recall. I have a 2007 IS350 and fortunately they did replace my dash many years ago, but they were always out of the door panels, so they put me on a “waiting list”. The problem is that they never called me even after I followed up with them over the years. I eventually forgot about it and then the program ceased. At least I got the dash redone as it was really sticky. The door panels look horrible and I’m not about to spend $4500.00 on new panels when there are no compatible aftermarket panels for the IS. I think I’ll use this video and see if I can make mine look better. Truth be told, it wouldn’t take much for an improvement in mine since they are so bad. I hate it, because the car only has 67K miles on it. Great video!
Just learning about this recall as we bought our son a 08 is250 with door and dash issue. Went to few pick n pull and all 6 had this issue already or been taken lol. Local junk yard charges SO MUCH FOR this year car. Even more than my BMW, which is wild. But we are temporarily buying dash cover & debating to try this method for the two doors with major signs of cracking and missing chucnks
@@Oneklickmedia If the car is in good shape, I would at least purchase the dash if you can’t find one second hand. You’d also need to know the manufacturing date of the second hand one to make sure that you’re not purchasing another one of the defective ones if you found one. The dash is really too big to try and fix and I don’t think that it can be fixed to make it look decent. Good luck.
There is a recall for this I had my whole dash replaced by Lexus. They took almost 2 years on the waiting list but it did get fixed. This is a great fix though
Where did you buy your screen, I’ve seen this Unit, but I wanted to know where you bought it and your thoughts on it as usability and speed and the price of it. And I wanted to see if you installed it yourself and if so how long it took or how hard, or if you had to do any wiring, I have a more base model one without Bluetooth or voice control or the oem screen (which I don’t like anyways) so mine is pretty similar to yours
If u live in Texas dont go to Vandergriff Toyota took my Camry there every 6 months for a check if there were any recalls and they decided to wait until my car was was past the time and mileage for the recall to be free of charge instead tried charging me almost 4000 dollars for replace and install
I have heard that these cracked up dash boards can splinter and harm you when air bags inflate. If that's true, shouldn't Lexus be *required* by law to replace them?
I have a question for you. I bought all the same things you did, but for some reason my black Sugru turned light grey and now it doesn’t match the dash. It started out the perfect color match for the dash right out of the package, but I kneaded it, and it turned light grey. Yours looks like a perfect match. Did you not knead the sugru???
Thank you for your ideas in this video. I have IS250 2011 and the side of my door is starting to go sticky. Do you think applying the protect coat from Almorral often will help prevent it? Or it's inevitable. My car is in otherwise perfect condition 😭
GREAT VIDEO! THANKS FOR YOUR EFFORT I've got a question, what was the purpose of using petroleum jelly, to clean the dash with it? Petroleum jelly it's like a grease right, so did you clean it of before painting it with sticky dash fix coating?
Mark, thank you so much for this I have the same model as you (you did say 2010 IS250, right?). I also have the same problem. I was considering the replacement of the entire dashboard, but this is genius. I think I will try this sticky dash fix product. Thank you.
What does the petroleum jelly do exactly? I can't get all the dust/debri off my dash using the sticky dash cleaner and have pretty much used all of the cleaner.
How did u get the knicks out of the panel thats what im dealing with now after trying to l Pluck some of the debris out ..im assume it comes wiith good directions ? Its really hard to tell how you actually did anything in this video
This happened to my 2007 Aurion that had been serviced with the dealer it's whole life - counted for nothing! As a result I have not serviced with, nor purchased a Toyota since!
I've had my 2011 Toyota since 2019 and finally looked up what was going on with the dash this year... I can't believe I can't get this fixed by toyota and never got a letter since I wasn't the original owner. So here's to trying to do this myself
Aaron G-S we got a letter in the mail from Lexus and set up an appointment with our lock Lexus dealer/service shop. After they reviewed it, it took a year for parts to come in for replacement. They replaced the dash and all of the panels through out the car. You should call your local department to ask.
DeShawn Lewis......Lexus doesn't have a statute of limitations for this? I'm looking at buying a 2002 is300. With the car being so old I was wondering if they would still honor the recall with the car being 18 years old.
I have always thought that as the car looks depends on each owner, you have done an excellent job inside, I want to buy an equal one and I will share my progress, it is good that you share your Instagram or social networks if you have to follow you and make a lexus community
Never got a recall letter, dealership never said anything through the years, and my lexus advocate said today that they respectfully decline to repair our 2007 IS250. You would think they would stand by their products.
What is the petroleum jelly for? Was it because the stickyness not go away and did it help after applying. I have an 08 camry and have this issue that toyota never resolved even after i got the dashboard recall to replace it 😑
Thank you for this! I hope you upload a more recent video of how it looks now :) I have a 2008 Nissa Altima that probably has a worse dashboard. I plan on doing this an uploading the process too. If not I may just have to bite the bullet and pay to replace it. It's such an eye sore and the glare is terrible. Nissan is not helping out at all with this issue either 🙄
I have a 2012 Nissan Altima and it also has a melting dashboard. Nissan won't do anything about it either. Had I known about the class action suit in 2009 and that it would happen to my 2012 model, I would not had purchased it! I keep my cars a long time and the dashboard and surrounding areas look awful and it's a driving hazard!
How long did it take for you to receive the stickydashfix kit? I placed my order a month ago and still nothing. I know it comes from Australia so it takes time.
It definitely took awhile for mine. I’d like to say closer to 6 weeks, which isn’t bad for international shipping but still felt like forever at the time. I would suggest emailing them and ask for a tracking number if you don’t have one already. You can contact them at: derek@3dformulations.com.au
Lexus Quality! Mine has the same issue. No help at all from Lexus Canada. I made a mistake buying this car. The 1992 Celica GTS I had was bullet proof. Ten times the car. I thought a Lexus would be as good or better. I was wrong.
DeShawn Lewis The local dealership told me it’s not a recall like everyone says it is online. They told me they could only help me out if my car was eligible for the enhanced warranty. Since it wasn’t eligible they said I have the option of paying over 4k to have door panels and dash replaced.
Dylan Randall it was a legit recall. You should call other dealer ships. We purchased ours new in 2006 from Vegas and a Lexus dealer in Atlanta did the warranty work.
Dylan Randall look at my original comment. Someone called their dealer and will get theirs replaced. You can google melted dashboard recall for Is350 due to a law suit. Was your dealership a legit Lexus dealer?
I have a 2010 madza 3 And they had a recall on This model for 10 years But i got the car 2022 So madza will not honor the recall, the car on haa 94,000 miles ■ I may try this product if i can it for sale.
I purchased two weeks ago a 2011 Toyota Camry brought it to the dealer to get the oil change and they told me I had a recall on my dash and changed it for free $2500 job and didn’t have to pay a dollar
Serious Fireworks I’m in Lake Charles Louisiana but The dealer had told me that if I had waited to bring the car next year it would not have covered it hopefully that helps you

My ls460 is a 2007 it lands in line with the extended warranty. Were are the good lexus dealerships. It’s insane the dashboard on my 2008 Camry were made much much better than the Lexus IS 250 here, that’s crazy.
How did u get the knicks out of the panel thats what im dealing with now after trying to l
Pluck some of the debris out ..im assume it comes wiith good directions ? Its really hard to tell how you actually did anything in this video
Does this also fix the glare the stickiness had?
Bro why you put too care petroleum jelly after the cleaning. Can you explain
Would ceramic tint help completely??
Where did you get your radio. Am looking for that type.
Did you find out anything about the radio? I was going to ask the same question.
Definitely looks better! Great work.
This happened to my 2007 Aurion that had been serviced with the dealer it's whole life - counted for nothing! As a result I have not serviced with, nor purchased a Toyota since!
I'm so glad my dashboard has leather on it. But why does this happen? Is it some sort of resin?
Great tutorial! I want to clean up and replace the dashboard but it looks like the damage is too far to save :(
What can you use to remove debris stuck to the sticky dashboard? Will bug and tar remover work and how can I not scratch the dashboard?
I've had my 2011 Toyota since 2019 and finally looked up what was going on with the dash this year... I can't believe I can't get this fixed by toyota and never got a letter since I wasn't the original owner. So here's to trying to do this myself
Did it work?! I have a 2011 camry
There is a recall to replace dashboards for IS cars. They will replace all of the panels as well.
Who do you contact for that
Aaron G-S we got a letter in the mail from Lexus and set up an appointment with our lock Lexus dealer/service shop. After they reviewed it, it took a year for parts to come in for replacement. They replaced the dash and all of the panels through out the car. You should call your local department to ask.
DeShawn Lewis......Lexus doesn't have a statute of limitations for this? I'm looking at buying a 2002 is300. With the car being so old I was wondering if they would still honor the recall with the car being 18 years old.
troot1967 sorry, the recall was for the second generation.
@@troot1967 I contacted the local news in the Atlanta, GA area. They called Lexus and within a week, I got a notice in the mail and I have a 2007.
I have always thought that as the car looks depends on each owner, you have done an excellent job inside, I want to buy an equal one and I will share my progress, it is good that you share your Instagram or social networks if you have to follow you and make a lexus community
Thank you! You should totally get a Lexus IS, they’re honestly great cars. Also, I do have an Instagram, it’s @Marks_Mods
Mark's Mod Diary thank you so much broo
Why can I get that item s ?? Am at muranga country,
Never got a recall letter, dealership never said anything through the years, and my lexus advocate said today that they respectfully decline to repair our 2007 IS250. You would think they would stand by their products.
how do u clean the dash periodically after applying this item?
What is the petroleum jelly for? Was it because the stickyness not go away and did it help after applying. I have an 08 camry and have this issue that toyota never resolved even after i got the dashboard recall to replace it 😑
You used the Sugru or stick to cover the big holes or dents?
my lexus dash is starting to crack as well. thanks for the video.
Hello I was focusing on your infotainment, is that off market . Or OEM? Thanks
Stupid me put my nail in the goo, now there's a nail shaped cut, only one. Will the filler do it?
Is that screen replacing a 10 inch display? Curious if it would work in a lexus 2007 ls460 stock spot.
I have many of the same problems with my dash, might give this a try soon
I have the same color as yours. What color code did you use? I didn’t see LA27.
Do you have any links to buy the stereo that you have on your car. Nice.
Hey what kind of indash do you have there ?
Will this work for the door panels?
How much was the replacement screen?
I have the same issue and car! Did you end up trying this?
Check for recalls for dashboards
Is it good still??
Broooooo....how and where did u get that screen??
How long did it take for you to receive the stickydashfix kit? I placed my order a month ago and still nothing. I know it comes from Australia so it takes time.
It definitely took awhile for mine. I’d like to say closer to 6 weeks, which isn’t bad for international shipping but still felt like forever at the time. I would suggest emailing them and ask for a tracking number if you don’t have one already. You can contact them at: derek@3dformulations.com.au
That look good great job...I LIKE!!!
Where you get that radio
Thank you 🙏. My car has the same problem
What year is your lexus? And what tv is that! Pretty keen to change my tv screen , not a fan of the stock one
Don't you love it when the video creators don't respond to legitimate questions.
@@drinkthekoolaidkids It's what i live for
Lexus does have a recall for this
Thivakar saravanamuthu expired 2017 and Toyota never kept their word. Multiple lawsuits
say issue here with my 2009 subaru outback stick and soft and damaged with deep scratches ugh
What radio is that
Lexus Quality! Mine has the same issue. No help at all from Lexus Canada. I made a mistake buying this car. The 1992 Celica GTS I had was bullet proof. Ten times the car. I thought a Lexus would be as good or better. I was wrong.
What kind of in dash monitor is that mine just died today?
brilliant video
I got mine replaced by the dealer under their enhanced warranty. But great video I didn’t know they made this !
I’m jealous! I tried going to my local Lexus but they weren’t able to help me. :(
There’s a recall for the dashboards you didn’t need an extended warranty.
What about Nissans I have an Altima that is like this
How do you get this?
what was lexus thinking? what and why would they use that material for their car?
Thanks for your video, you did a great job.
Well you must be in the US because Lexus Australia doesn't care about this problem. Interesting to note that product is made in Victoria, Australia
Does anyone know if Mazda will replace the dash the same way as they do for Camrys and Lexus?
I have a 2010 madza 3
And they had a recall on
This model for 10 years
But i got the car 2022
So madza will not honor the recall, the car on haa
94,000 miles ■
I may try this product if i can it for sale.
How's this repair holding up?
I purchased two weeks ago a 2011 Toyota Camry brought it to the dealer to get the oil change and they told me I had a recall on my dash and changed it for free $2500 job and didn’t have to pay a dollar
Wtf I called toyota 3 times they wont help me at all same thing on my 2007 camry..any advice you can give me? Where are u located thanks
Serious Fireworks
I’m in Lake Charles Louisiana but The dealer had told me that if I had waited to bring the car next year it would not have covered it hopefully that helps you
Serious Fireworks I would bring it up to the dealer wherever you’re located at and ask and speak to the manager
@@alwaystommy I called corporate and my local dealer 3 times
@@alwaystommy I'm in New England..no help up here
Will they still change my dash free of charge?
I have the same issue on mine, going to call Lexus tomorrow to check
Thanx for the video, super helpful
Please someone help! Were did everyone go that got them replaced I'm in la, Ventura area? I bought my car used and looked up vin to see it had the parts ordered for the sticky dash and even called the dealership that ordered them for my car for previous owner and they lied and said I wasn't original owner and couldn't do anything for me and dicked me around the last owner even ordered them 1 an a half years ago from this dealership that's trying to get out of repairs. My ls460 is a 2007 it lands in line with the extended warranty. Were are the good lexus dealerships. Heard so many story's of the lexus dealerships offering it and being super helpful with it this dealership wants nothing to do with it wtf?
Is the stereo stock or is it aftermarket ?
The one he has is aftermarket.
You were watching The Office, wern't you?
Just bought 2011 Camry xle in sept and I have not seen this problem. 🤞🤞
wrapping might be the solution
Can't u just stick alcantera to the dask?
