I’m a 12 year lift tech. I’ve been kicking around the idea of going independent. I watch your videos for motivation. Keep up the great work and content.

Thank you for the comment Chris! It’s not an easy decision to make at all , it can be really scary and you’ll definitely doubt yourself. For me, I knew I had to do it. Once you decide to make the jump, you’ll know when the time is right.

Damn dude. The “there’s days…” speech is so true. I have viscerally felt each and every one of those days in my soul!!
Recently fixed a bad horn on that exact same model of Toyota. As it turns out, the brass contacts were worn down and the tiny spring inside had broken so it wasn’t making proper contact. Had to pull the whole thing apart. Got a parts kit and just replaced everything. Got it all back together, tested it, it worked. Gave it back to the customer and started my clean up. Guy brings it back out 5 minutes later saying it doesn’t work. Tried it, no horn. FMMFL. Thought for sure I missed something. Took it all apart. Everything was right. Then my brain fart cleared and I went back to basic diag. Step 1: verify power. Machine was running so obvs power was good there. Started testing down the line. That’s weird, there’s no power getting to the horn contacts. Checked the fuses. Yeah, it blew the fuse. Popped in another one and boom. It was horning like no one’s business. Felt good knowing I didn’t mess up the repair, but also like a dumbass because I took everything apart again before checking the basics first. Coulda saved myself an hour.
Some days, it just be like that. Lol.
Love your stuff. I’ve gotten into this trade about three years ago with no real training. It’s channels like yours that have helped me grow as a mobile technician. Keep up the great content!
