@Zoomer Stasi There is no Third Rome. Only Old Rome from Lazio and New Rome from Bosphorus, both built and made up of capitals of the same empire that was born latin and pagan, died greek and christian, but which was always legally Roman from its foundation to its fall. Underneath all these countless dynasties, from the Julio-Claudians to the Palaiologos, there were institutions that functioned around the clock. Rome was not just the Kingdom, the Republic, the Empire, the Principality, the Dominate, the Tetrarchy, the Diarchy, West or East, Paganism or Christianity, Latinity or Hellenism. Rome was first and foremost the Roman State and its civilization, regardless of other factors, and that State died long before a Third Rome was built.
@Zoomer Stasi Russia may even have links with Rome, such as having the blood of the last dynasty in the veins of the Romanovs, having married its nobility to Greeks, having inherited the Christian-Orthodox religion and even having received Greeks. But it is not Rome, it is not the Roman State. It is another State, and another Civilization.
@Zoomer Stasi The papacy's authority was questioned even by the eastern Roman emperors, those who were left and who had full right to claim their rights as Romans. After the western network Rome lasted with institutions like the western senate but which gradually died without the empire, the church may have been left but only it remained in the west while in the east all roman institutions still endured soon, the Roman State endured and did not accept the creation of one equal to it. Having said that, the Pope was not the Roman State and without a Roman State there is no Third Rome in Aachen… Unless your initial claim that the Tsardom was the Third Rome because of its connection with the eastern romans has been dispelled by discrediting the very legality of the eastern roman empire.
