Thank God someone actually made a video about this. I've been thinking about getting the MPE for a while but NOBODY could tell me if it's worth the R16,000 (here in South Africa) to fit it. Thanks for the video brother :)
Sorry I missed your comment! I don't know how much that translates too but its a nice exhaust especially if you want to maintain your warranty. Hope that helps man!
Good evening. I’ll add my two cents here. I have a 2017 M240i 6-speed coupe, and I had my local dealer install the M-Performance muffler. What pushed me to do it was the very annoying loud buzz/rattle that my stock muffler valve was making. I considered having the exhaust valve wired permanently open, but I wanted a more aggressive sounding muffler, and after considering Dinan, Eisenmann, Akrapovic, and Remos mufflers, but opted for the BMW M-Performance instead, being I didn’t want it crazy loud. I was told by a local performance tuning shop that the sound of the M-Performance and Dinan muffler sounds very similar. Of all the cars that I’ve heard that have an M-Performance muffler installed (factory or aftermarket), the one that fits on my car is the best sounding one I’ve heard. I’m told that the brilliant B58 engine in my F22 car is the reason why it sounds much better than other BMW models. It’s worth noting that this M-Performance muffler has NO valve, so it’s always “open”. On startup it is gnarly, and if you engage sport mode or sport+ mode when driving, you get an even nastier growl, along with louder pops and burbles. Personally, I am not a fan of the pops and burbles as I prefer just a raunchier more throaty sound, akin to the sound my suped up 1970 Camero made! I’m now considering installing the Dinan mid-pipe, which deletes both resonators. Apparently, doing this mod doesn’t made the sound much louder (maybe 10% louder), but it will have an even raunchier sound, along with a lot more pops and burbles, if you like that. So, in closing, I absolutely and wholeheartedly recommend the M-Performance muffler upgrade. Mine cost me about $1,500 CAD installed. The mid-pipe mod will cost me another $1,500 installed thereabouts.
I have just had a free M performance exhaust fitted today at Tring BMW in Hertfordshire, it's been fitted under warranty because I had the dreaded rattle. I have to thank Max for all his help, he is an absolute legend and genuinely loves the M lite cars. On a slightly disappointing note they haven't managed to fit it correctly in the time they had so it's going back in the morning. It's sticking out too much and for some unknown reason the centre is knocking on the heat shield but in sure it will be fine.
Since having the MPE fitted on mine i drive more in comfort/DTC mode than i used to. Also driving in traction mode (DTC) there is very little fake sound and you get all the over run noises of sport especially if you manually downshift. IMO the MPE is worth it especially as it is warranty friendly.
ST Supercars. Sorry, i meant that i use the comfort/DTC mode more than i used to before MPE it was 95% sport/sport+ however since its been cold and wet i drive a little more in comfort. Hope that makes sense? Spring time will be 100% sports plus.
I took my 2011 to a performance shop to dyno- the stock achaist sounds great, But it was the quietest car there that day - of younwamt some Good sound it’s way to go
I have a late '15 M Performance exhaust on the M135i... much louder and aggressive (as far as I can tell from the this audio) - seems they really have softened it.
Marcel B. That's crazy, I have a 335i e90 N54 and mine has a M-Performance exhaust too, and it is sooooo much louder than the stock one, it's literally like day and night . Crayz how it changed this mpe!
The M140i/M240i has an extra resonator in the mid pipe section v.s. the M135i/M235i and does indeed quieten it down by comparison whether your back box be the stock or MPE version.
Mines been back to Tring BMW and they have sorted out the knock and moved it in a bit more, however it still sticks out more than any other exhaust on the market but my 7 year old thinks it looks cool. I imagine it sticks out that much because its designed to go with the M performance rear defuser and that's more chunky than the standard one. I'd be interested to know if that is the case, if not I don't really get the sticking out look, but like you I'm just happy to have it for free.
Does anyone had software problem after upgande to M performance exhaust? The car is consume too much petrol, due to gear shifting too slow and low rpm power deliver is lagging? If you put half throttle while you are driving around 60km/h, you can see petrol consumption go up, but rpm and speed is not reacting. Only you hold 2500 rpm up then the car feels fine.
I've had a look and it seems pretty easy to adjust it yourself, it looks like there's just one bolt underneath that tightens the tip to the exhaust pipe. I'm going to have a look tomorrow and if it is easy il let you know. Have you left yours as they were or have you had them re adjusted?
Anthony Locking tax on the auto is £140 a year and manual £240, I get 300 - 340 miles on a tank depending on how I drive I’d say 320 on average (mines a manual)
@@gamingskilszclips5040 it’s not unreasonable to check running costs on a car, running costs on this car isn’t that bad and is affordable to some on a budget. A golf r32 on the other hand 200 miles a tank and £560 tax is far less affordable. I could afford running costs on a 240i but not r32. So it’s a perfectly reasonable question.
charlotte hull that’s steep for just a backbox. Can get the MPE from £800 or just have a car with the dreaded exhaust rattle. I think the BCS system is about £1k too which is seriously consider
Theres enough noise in my 140I, it's usually coming from my wife gob, it would drown that batboy out all day, and the burbles and crackles and her active over run are more prevalent if we are on the way back from the curry house, you would need the sunroof cracked for a different reason then young man.
Bottom line no its not. Its a improvement over stock, but not worth the money, I changed to remus and its allot different. But that's not to say its no good. If it was cheaper say retail price £500 then yes.
Hi mate, I've got a M140i too and I'm thinking of fitting a MPE as well. Your video is really good, perfect editing and really good explanation! Take a look of my channel if you want! Cheers :)
Great Video. I am getting the MPE for my M140i that comes in September. Video helps me alot.
Greetings from Germany :)

Hey bud, did you fit it and was it worth it?
Yes, how is the mpe?
I am Ru wow R16000 a year ago... now R70 000 😂

Did you egt the burbles just changing the exhaust? or Remap?
The sound is amazing, I just prefer the black chrome stock look.

bingers laroo what’s the reason you tend to drive it more in comfort mode? I find the steering in comfort is far too light

Is it the full MPE or is it just the M-performance end muffler?
Axle back version :) so the m perf end muffler that hasn't got valves.
Is this only slipon/axleback?

Good sound it’s way to go
Does this sound better then the Remus ? I wanna get a better exhaust but didn't know if the warranty would be effected ?
Great video, thanks!!
Very interesting about the warranty 🤔, thanks for the information kind of made my mind up now 👍👍. Cheers
why lol
I have a late '15 M Performance exhaust on the M135i... much louder and aggressive (as far as I can tell from the this audio) - seems they really have softened it.
Yep its to do with the EU sound restrictions on OEM exhausts I believe

I was also told that the MPE is now manufactured differently too in order to meet new EU regulations. Not sure how much truth is in that though.
Agree 100% mine is 435i with M perfotmance and it is so fucking loud and nicer
Having watched this I don’t think mpe is worth it for couple extra burbles, which I don’t really like. It is better but only slightly.

Yeah thats exactly what I got told, apparently BMW fit the exhaust with it sticking out to encourage you to buy the M Performance rear diffuser

What?
Is the MPE just a back box? Or is it a full system?
It's just the back box - I wish it was full system with sports cats haha

ok??
My M140i makes me feel like a child also 😆 I might just order one now .
Cheers Steve
Hi there nice car mate I looking to getting one this year. What the tax on it for a year plus what the mileage you get on a full tank. Many thanks
Anthony Locking tax on the auto is £140 a year and manual £240, I get 300 - 340 miles on a tank depending on how I drive I’d say 320 on average (mines a manual)
you're asking all the wrong questions about this car :)

My m1 looks exactly like this I love it 🥰
Cuz of this vid I wanna get the 135 even more..
Beautiful
Doesnt has the valvule? 😵
how much ? looking at a remus costing 1500 all in.

Billy Bigboy loooooooooooool
Savage 🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is a sick car. Kept up with the M4 all day. Looking forward to the trip to Austria (via Nurburg ring / autobahn) #MPower

Cheers man, I like your channel too! I've subbed
Get the fake cabin noise coded out
Apparently it was coded out as part of the install, thats what I was told anyway
ST Supercars nope
Ok thanks
i think its not loud enough. If i were driving and listening to music, i wouldnt notice much if this car drive by me.
Hard to tell on the video but it is loud, my mate drove past me in it the other week and yeah can confirm its loud enough from the outside!
It's loud enough, You can't hear the sound in real time through a camera.
1:22 intro jeez. I’m here for the sound and review. Ain’t got time for the rubbish music and car shots.
