When I started riding Michelin Pilot Power was THE sport bike tire you bought, nothing else. Dunlop, Bridgestone, and Pirelli of the day just couldn’t compare. Now everyone runs S22, Q4, and Super Corsa. I’ve tried the Michelin Road 5 on my Versys 650 and they were fantastic, transformed the bike. They also last a ridiculously long time and I don’t think there’s a better wet tire. Sport touring tires have come ridiculously far and almost make sport tires redundant on the street. That said I’d be very interested to try the Power 5 on my next sportbike.

Having tried Continental, Metzler, Bridgestone and Michelin for street riding in all weathers, I can honestly say the the Michelin PR series (PR4 or PR5) are the best _all weather street tyre_ I've ever had, closely followed by Metzler. I currently have Bridgestone on one bike and Michelin on the other. The Bridgestone tyres are not fit for purpose in the wet. Luckily, I rarely ride that bike in the wet but I'll be swapping them for Michelin PR5 GT in time for the "riding season".

I use Dunlop q4 on my Panigale 1299s, spot on Yam, they really are confidence inspiring, sticky as hell, very progressive lean, unlike Pirelli Corsas etc, suppose it depends on your preference, the q4 does not last past 4-5 heavy track days though, the q3s provides 90% of the grip and lasts around 4 times as long.

I threw a pair of Michelin Power RS tires on my Street Triple after going through the factory Pirelli rubber. Could not recommend the Power RS more. It’s a great tire if you commute during the week and hit twistes on the weekend.
I agree that the Pirelli Super Corsa’s are not the best for the road IF you live in a 4 season city. I have a pair on my Daytona 675 and they do not inspire confidence for you ride in anything less than 70 degrees and sunny

Power 5's are the replacement for the Power RS and are a hypersport tire. The Road 5 is Michelin's sport touring tire. Sport touring tires have more than enough stick to drag knee. Also the T31 is a better tire than the T30 and is its replacement.

    1. Q3+ You can still do track days fine. If you get caught in the rain, it will not kill you!!!
    2. Metzeler Racetec M7RR. I like these as much as the Q3+ on the track. But this tire has better wet performance. My favorite FUN tire all around.
    3. Pirelli Angel GT Not as sporty as the other ones. But the most sport capable touring tire IMHO.
    4. Bridgestone T30Evo/T31 A lower price version of the Angel GT with a little more tread life.
    5. Pilot Power RS or Pilot Power 3. Kind of long the lines of the Q3+. But alternatives at best. The Power 3 is more road oriented then the RS.
    6. Dunlop GPR300. General everyday run up the mill tire. Not excellent at anything. But good at most things. One of the best low priced tires out there.
    7. Continental Contimotion The most underrated tire in the universe. Same technology as the Sport or the Street Attack at a budget price. Just be sure you run you tire pressure a little higher when you run these.
These are my 7. I have owned and tracked all of these tires. People make a big deal about track days. But you can run any tire on the track effectively if you know how to adjust your pressure and your suspension. Will you win a race? Anyone who is trying to do that will not be watching this video....LOL The racing consultants are at the track and charge money. Round, 17", on sale and not a car tire....I WILL TRACK IT!!

In all honesty on MT09s, I had Dunlop q4s Dunlop Q3 Plus Bridgestone s20s Bridgestone s21s. None of them lasted more than 3000 miles ..the Michelin road 5s....the best. I got over 8k miles out of them.. when I replace the rear it was actually because the sides were completely worn out the middle still had life and that's after a couple donuts and rolling burnouts and like I said 8,000 miles of hard riding. . in the rain a mode with a ECU flash Dyno tune traction control off I could not spend the tire if I tried in the rain the bike would literally take off on a wheelie

Q 4 Is tire of choice on my 1299 Panigale S. I ride all year, a lot of rain time as well, no problem. Even in 40 degree weather they warm up quickly. Am an aggressive rider street and track ( armature class ) , 100% satisfied . One complaint, during the summer, 80 to 100 degree days, 3,000 miles on the rear tire, about 7,000 on the front, SO oil change and rear tire replacement. Ducati service is 7,500 miles , NO 3,000 to 3,500 in my book. Not compromising on my safety. this bike is my primary transportation, 14,000 miles in one year, YES 4 rear tires.. Thanks for the heads up on the 62 degree lean , did not know that ! The 1299 S has lean angle on the dash. LOVE it . Ride safe guys

Been running Metzeler Sportec M7 RR's on my Ninja 650 for a while now. More than impressed with their levels of grip, and the feedback they give.
Riding is the 'Every Other Day' commute, and spirited canyon carving on weekends. Currently have about 12,000km (Sorry 'Merica) on the rear, and will likely get another 2, 000 to 3,000km before it's in need of replacement.

I"m using Pirelli Angel GT2's on my Busa. They have the grip for aggressive riding and the long lasting wear of sport touring. I'm suppose to get like about 7-8k out of them, but we'll see. My last set of Battleaxe only got like 3k on them if that...

Do not forget the number 1 rule when choosing a tyre: choose the tyre that fits your ability and riding style, while being honest with yourself. For most people the likes of a Supercorsa SC or other hypersport tyre will actually perform worse than any sports touring tyre because they cannot bring it to operating temperature with their lack of ability. It will feel as it lacks grip and will not inspire confidence actually hindering the progress of the rider while a less sporty tyre will offer increased grip and confidence for people who are not that experienced.

Wow, I never seen the pirelli supercorsa sc as oem tyres, must be a new thing as they take a long time to get to temp. Ducati use supercorsa sp as oem tyres they are great super fast warm up on the street. The other great tyres are the metzeler racetek rr in different compounds and the new metzeler m9 rr looks good. I run the sp on my hp4 and the metzeler racetek rr compound 3 on my ducati 1198. They both go great at the track too, no warmer. Thanks for the vid mate ride safe.

I've become addicted to the Dunlop Q4s. It's an expensive addiction given that I get 1500 street miles on them, (lots) less when I do track days (COTA on July 5!). The big student discount from California Superbike School keeps me from robbing liquor stores to satisfy this addiction.

As fat as sport-touring tires are concerned, the absolute best I've come across are the Spirit ST by Avon. Try as I might, I haven't been able to find their limits yet; they warm up as fast or faster on-street as your beloved Q4's
And there stable at all angles, even down to almost freezing temperatures! I think I paid ~$350cdn a set for them off of Fortnine for my Triumph. I did my own install and they were smooth to 100+mph (170km/h) before I had them balanced! Also: get your tires balanced.
