Mee too u also like iPad but I am confused in 11 inch and 12 that which one to go for
Hi, Small question, is it possible that the iPad Pro faired better in the lightroom test because the MacBook Air was running unoptimized/ beta version of lightroom?
try formatting the SSD as exFAT format.. it worked for me.😁

It is better to buy the M1 Air for $1000 (or apple refurbish for $850) than to buy a $500 laptop. After 2 years your $500 laptop will be worthless while the M1 can be resell for $600 - $800 depend on the condition. So yes if you decide to buy a laptop right now M1 Air is the best bang for your buck, if you don't plan to buy anything then well have a good day :)
Lol I’m about to buy the new 16 inch whenever it gets out. Gonna go for the best model they bring… probably about 4,000. I feel it lol
Don't. The less than half of Americans citizens of the richest nation in history have $2000 dollars for an emergency. 60% of British people have less than $1500 in savings. Don't let social media like RUclips skew your reality remember than a billion people live on less than a dollar a day. Let's be grateful we can pay for the electricity, Internet and device that allows us to watch this video 😀
I ditched my MacBook and went iPad Pro-only for five years. I had three of them along the way (original 12.9, original 10.5, and second-gen 11), including working from home via an iPad Pro throughout 2020. It never didn’t feel problematic, and nothing Apple added ever fixed that feeling for me. Not better processing power. Not better displays or camera systems. Surprisingly for me, not a Magic Keyboard trackpad, either. This year I migrated back to an M1 MacBook and demoted my iPad Pro to my sofa-surfing device, and it felt unbelievably liberating.
The problem is not having a fully windowed desktop for completely unfettered multitasking. I tried living exclusively without one for five solid years. Now that I have one again, I can’t imagine going back from MacOS to iPadOS again. It’s just such a self-inflicted, unnecessary limitation, and I regret the five years I wasted trusting Tim Cook that an iPad Pro is a viable daily driver. It’s not. Split View and Slide Over are bandaids for not having robust multitasking. Actual robust multitasking makes everything so much easier.

The M1 Air is $1000, if you are a student it is $900, you can get an Apple refurbished M1 Air for $850. You can also finance it. To be honest with you, I have been using the M1 Air for around 6 months and it is the best laptop I have ever used by far. Browser is smoother, everything is so responsive and run faster, 0 noise, low heat, battery is off the chart. This is the kind of product you would trade 200 Starbucks for.

I had a pro with the magic keyboard and realized I was just using it like it was a laptop 100% of the time, so I sold it and got a MacBook and realized you just can’t replace Mac OS.
I agree, I wish it had more pro support becuase its so much fun to use in the stuff you can use it for
Sure, but you can’t replace an iPad either. So, it’s more about what kind of tool you want. If you’re a designer/creator, then the iPad will be a great tool, but for everything else, the MacBook is probable more convenient (for now).

Some of the reviews for this don't make sense. This ruclips.net/user/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA works as well as any power strip I've used. Plug in what you need, be sensible about it & keep it movin' The construction is plastic but it's a sturdy piece. It has a single toggle switch & the swivel jacks are useful as well. Plugged in next to Tripp Lite Isobar takes some of these reviews with a pinch of sumthin' - does what it says & functions properly.Had for about a month. Perfect no complaints will update if anything changes.
Actually, the iPad can open 3 apps at the same time too. Just click the 3rd app you want and drag to the center of 2 apps you open and you’ll get the 3 rd app.
Great video! Really revolutionary chip! I missed a test with a final cut.
You didn't miss a test - there can not be a test as Final Cut is not supported on the iPad and most likely never will be. If you want FCPX you will need a OS device not an iOS device.
You don’t have to press and hold on the trackpad to bring up the menu for apps on the Home Screen. Just do a two finger tap and it comes right up.
like a right click yeah
You’ll have to turn that on it settings first
Have you considered trying to use the light room iOS app on the Macbook and comparing the lightroom export that way? Also, isn't the Macbook having to use that translation layer because of Lightroom being an x86_64 program?
“Because you can’t use the apple pencil with a mac unless you get a different ipad with like sidekick or whatever else”
aight im sure it was “car” tho hahahahahahah
I went with the 11" iPad Pro since I don't need another laptop. I needed something that was more portable and better screen so I went with the iPad Pro.
Man you guys are the best reviewers ever. I really like watching your videos. Love from The Netherlands
My ipad pro M1 12.9 inch getting warm on the left side of the glass (opposite to the apple pencil dock) while doing regular working such as youtube, notability, safari etc. No editing videos or transferring files or gaming. It is not over heating but it does getting warm.
Does anyone find the same situation with his ipad? Or did you hear something about that? Is it normally?
It's really frustrating me
I have the iPad Pro/magic keyboard/apple pencil setup and my only regret is getting the smaller of the iPads instead of the bigger one. It was a concern about the 12.9 inch iPad Pro being too big to fit into the tablet sleeve in my daily use backpack that led me to the smaller one, and while the bigger ipad for sure wouldnt fit, i think i would rather have the bigger screen and make due with using the laptop sleeve in my backpack for travel. Oh well, i might have to trade in and make an upgrade next year since ive had this setup for a year or so now.
I love big screens and I’ve had the 12.9 iPad Pro for over a year. I just switched to the 11’ with the same set up you have and man, i love this thing. So portable, fits way better in the hand as well. Don’t miss the 12.9 at all.
I wish you guys would compare the magic keyboard with the new Logitech Combo Touch for the 12.9 iPad Pro. I got with my iPad and love it! I like it a bit more than the magic keyboard for a few reasons and I find the trackpad to be better, at least to me.
I really like how you mention something that is on one device and not the other such as IOS apps on the MB Air, but you also mention that they don’t work 100%. Very cool!
You can have more than two apps open on the iPad for multitasking. I’ve seen a couple of vids on yt demonstrating this.
I was thinking of getting the MB as I only use a 2018 11 iPad Pro s my main computer. Having watched this I’m now just going to purchase a magic keyboard instead as my iPad does everything I need. Great vid, thanks.
Could you please tell me what’s the best choice for making and editing videos , using Lightroom for editing photos. MacBook or iPad Pro ?
I see it as a matter of needs vs. wants. If you need cameras, a touchscreen, or (potentially) cellular connectivity, the iPad is your choice. If you don’t, the MacBook Air is a far better value. If you want something more futuristic, or just have a specific preference for the iPad environment, go with the iPad with the knowledge that this is a preference-based decision, rather than meeting a specific need. In my case, I started off with an iPad first, and I’ve gotten used to the software limitations in a way that they do not affect my workflow, and being able to get work done on online while using mass transit is an added benefit. In addition, while I do use the camera for scanning documents, the wide angle and LiDAR are not quite useful for my case.
MacOS has so much support from developer for professional use.
Are the screen sizes between the two that different cause I have the m1 pro and love the display tech but is the air worth getting seems like screen is a little bigger .?
My dilemma is I have an old 2011 Macbook pro and 2014/16 iPad Air. Both are going and the MacBook doesn’t update anymore. I really wanted to get a replacement for each. Is that overkill?
What would be interesting is, if you have an older ipad pro, in my case the 2018 10.5 inch, how good does it work together with the mba m1! since u could maybe use the touch capability of it via sidecar? or is it worth upgrading to a new ipad pro m1?
no need😁
I’m “in the can” for iOS apps, and I’ve been a “fanboy” for over 10 years. I’m quite comfortable with the platform. I have a Windows desktop computer that the iPad compliments perfectly. I don’t “sweat” file management because of Dropbox and other utilities.

Switching from iPad Pro 12.9 2020-model to MacBook Air M1 2020 tomorrow, really looking forward to getting my hands on it. Haven't owned a Mac since I had MacBook Pro 4-5 years ago, has been iPads ever since.
Did you miss the ipad ?
For my uses, if the 12.9” M1 IPP would improve the file manager, run a plug-in compatible browser *AND* be able to run desktop Excel (with Pivot Table, Pivot Chart and Slicer support), I wouldn’t need a Macbook of any type. Without these however, I need another machine for getting my stuff done.
I have a MacBook Air but after using the iPad for such a long time I actually find iPads split screen multitasking easier and more efficient. On the Mac I constantly have to resize windows and worry about one window covering the other one etc. I say iPadOS multitasking has its strengths.
Is the issue fixed? Can the thunderbolt detact harddisk after its been docked?

I just bought the iPad Pro 11’ 1 hour before your video…
I choose the iPad because of the smaller footprint, and mostly for a standard usage, and it’s more than enough to me, plus I can use it anywhere in my house. For my usage it replace my laptop 90% of the time. I keep my windows laptop for gaming and printing stuff once every 4month.
One example that really matters to me is being able to read pdf on my balcony while having a smoke or in the kitchen (recipe) or in bed without needing a lot of place and muscles. And pro-motion for that use is dope!
For photo editing, I currently use Snapseed which is enough for my amateur skills. For video editing, lumafusion is just the best for iPad. 11´ is enough to me.
But hey, that just my usage. Of course one could have different needs.
FYI, I had an iPad Pro 10.5 2017 (a10x) for 2 years till yesterday.

iPad Pro M1 (12.9-inch) + Magic Keyboard = 1,740 USD
macBook Air = 1,153 USD
macBook Pro = 1,510 USD

It's really sad, because the M1 iPad with Mini LED would be the perfect tool for Photographers if iPadOS wasn't artificially limited by Apple. Things like the files app, the external storage situation, the artificial limit to RAM usage, the Thunderbolt inconsistencies... etc.
It has a better display, touch screen, better sound, etc, but you can do so much more on a Macbook Air for the sole reason that the software can push the hardware all the way. If you get an iPad and Apple never unlocks that potential you're stuck with a "better/worse" product.
Use an SSD.

Yesterday I bought my Macbook Pro M1 to replace my 2019 Macbook Air, it's really fast and doesn't heat up I need to keep testing it installing wacom drivers and more things, for now this new apple chip is impressive
Issue with iPad Pro is no proper ejecting for hard drive. Because of this my hard drive was corrupted. Also not full feature of MS Office when compared to the Macbook version. These are why I sold my 2021 iPad Pro and went back to Macbook Air.
A great comparison video, it’s always cool to see the differences with the build and the OS but the massive price difference almost makes them incomparable.
The same difference as between a bicycle and a Bugati.
Macbook is a computer. U can code in it, run softwares on it, install ITunes and sync your idevices on it. U can have virtual machines on it, configure corporate directories on it, install linux on it. Dual boot it to run windows on it.
None if these are possible on iPad Pro. iPad Pro is just another iPad which runs same iOS and technically its no different from any other iPad other than being more powerful. It has a Pencil which is great for artists or designers. I use a lot for taking notes using Apple pencil. But thats where it goes.
You cannot code apps for iPad on iPad. U need a macbook to code apps for iPad or iPhone.
Seriously guys cmon dnt compare a tablet which runs a mobile OS to a computer.

Would be awesome to say I can code on my portable iPad Pro 12.9 m1 chip w/ 256gb and magic keyboard. I’d probably throw in Magic Mouse too. Is that possible? Or better to get a MacBook 💻 pro m1?
1. External display support is capable in ipad pro. Just get the proper adapter and plug it to the usb c.. 2. File system is ok. Maybe your sample hard drive has a problem. 3. Muti tasking is also good in ipad pro. Open the third app on top of the 2 you just opened sidebydside. This third floats and you can even more and more on top of the other.
The differences in two features were all I needed to decide: speakers and display. It is settled.

How on earth was Pro Motion not mentioned during the display segment
Just realized that you have been uploading a lot. Keep up the good work. 👍🏻
Those 2 devices are very different beasts that share many commonalities. For me, it has to be the 12.9 iPad Pro, but with the Brydge Max+ keyboard. It is £100 cheaper than the Magic keyboard. It has that all important top row of function and media keys. It has a larger, highly responsive and smooth trackpad and it has the premium look and feel that matches Apple’s own products. Because it has Bluetooth connectivity, it does not need to be attached to the iPad to function, there are so many situations and applications where this feature is invaluable!
Yes, the iPad Pro sti has limitations, but in it’s current form, it is still in it’s infancy and restricted only by the software yet to be updated and the apps yet to be developed or bought across.
I think that the M1 iPad Pro, Brydge Max+ and Apple Pencil combination, is the most versatile computing device out there. It blows all other tablets out of the water and gives even the most powerful, workhorse laptops a run for their money. With it’s, as yet, untapped potential, it is also pretty future proof. I’m not a gamer, so can’t pass comment on it’s pros or cons in that regard.
It can work out expensive, depending on the spec you go for. But, bare in mind, you are not just buying an iPad. You are buying into Apples eco system, Apples after sales and second to none customer support and to my way of thinking and from my own experience with Apple products, that more than justifies the higher price.
I sit behind a windows desktop for 45 hours a week at work. Outside of work Apple take care of all my computing needs, with my iPad Pro being my main go to device.
Finally, in regards to price, Apple products do maintain a very high resale, or, trade in price.
A review I have been waiting for.
You should compare the storage speed between the 2020 and 2021 iPad Pros. Apple said the storage is 2x faster, but I haven’t seen anybody test it.
I already have external keyboard n mouse and use external monitor. With iPadOS coming and stage manager, can iPad Pro replace my macbook air?
I’m getting the iPad Pro simply because it’s more futuristic, has rounded corners touch screen, and has cameras. If apple went back in time a 2021 iPad Pro in 2008 everyone would need it.
WWDC starts tommorow. I’d say hold of till WWDC ends.
Could you compare the Logitech combo touch for iPad Pro vs the Magic Keyboard?
I have the Folio and magic keyboard. Folio is way more protective.
But I like the magic keyboard.
Combo all the way. I like having a real case instead of having my iPad exposed.
@Supernova the combo keyboard and trackpad aren’t bad though. Probably like 8/10 of the experience that you get on the magic keyboard
@Supernova lmao , bro you would probably barely notice the difference between the two , you just have a huge ego ..

hallo guys! what do you think about macbook or ipad which one is better and capable for office work ?
If you tap with two fingers in the m1 iPad Pro trackpad, it’s like double click on the MacBook trackpad as well
The limiting factor for the iPad Pro is of course iPadOS. The software has definitely gone a long way, and I can do quite a lot of productivity with it. But it still has tiny but numerous limitations like not having precise control over audio, not being to play multiple audio sources at once, and Safari having weird optimization issues when using the iPad cursor. There’s a lot more missing like extended monitor support and a full file management system, but the list is just too. All of these limitations are due to the fact that iPadOS is still based on iOS, which means it’s going to inherit many of its phone-based limitations. iPadOS needs to be fundamentally rewritten to where it’s fundamentally based on MacOS and make it more touch-optimized.
No it’s not, That’s not Apple’s problem you can’t adapt
But what can you do on MacOS that you cant do on iPad OS? Theres literally an app to replace every pc software, they just added stage manager to support external monitors now
They're never going to do this because then no one would buy any of their laptops or desktops. They WANT The iPad to be limited so you have to buy both to get everything.

They just added updated stage center that makes it fun to finally use my iPad Pro with the keyboard. But i understand your point well…. Problem is i have had multiple MacBook pros before they all eventually start failing due to motherboard issues and shit…also their resale drops a lot. The ipad not as much.. basically I’ve opted to have a high powered fully specced PC for heavy use and an ipad for light portability….i rarely need scenarios that need the full desktop experience…i usually turn on the remote app execute the work and go back to my ipad os.

Though I’m seeing bad blooming watching Dolby content from Netflix. Can you analyze this? I’m assuming it can be fixed with a software update.
File explorer really sucks on my iPad Pro. I use it in homeoffice for LumaFusion. So my biggest issues are the file explorer, multi monitor and window management.
Good video, it does remind me though of why I've been hesitant to hop into Apple. I've been eyeing M1 products since their launch but their products seem so fragmented. Like the iPad has great hardware, but it hamstrung by so many os limitations. Likewise the M1 Mac looks great, but no touchscreen kills it for me. So I ended up just getting the HP Spectre x360 14 Oled instead that does it all. I'll still keep an eye on Apple silicon products, hopefully one day they add in the missing pieces.
I love the design of the new iPad Pro. I just can't get over the cost. I paid roughly the same for a new iMac. However, the decision really boils down to whether you want the touchscreen/pencil experience vs the full suit of macOS experience. That might slightly change after WWDC. I don't think iPad will get macOS but I don't see why they would put in this powerhouse chip which is big overkill, if they don't intend on releasing at least some pro apps.

Totally depends on how you use it though. I still have a Windows PC which I‘m barely using since iPad can deal with most I need to do. It‘s an older one but I wouldn‘t want to give the iPad up. It‘s so convenient, using it as a tablet when you want, just to read stuff for example. Most people, if not doing creative stuff, prefer an iPad I would guess.
@@Naectro buy M1 Air and iPad 8gen for $1330 still cheaper.
@@Naectro yes, I was just saying that you wouldn’t be able to use it as a daily driver for most jobs, where it is just faster to use any desktop os. And apple is marketing it as something that can compete with laptops etc. it can but only in very specific circumstances.
Please do a speaker comparison between Samsung galaxy tab s7 and s7+
in a RUclips short video
or if you can please do a full comparison between them
Which one is better for starting/running a business?
If I had to choose just one, I'd choose a computer personally.
I think iPads are funner to use though for a lot of things.
For me the decision is do I need a full functioning computer or do I need an expensive toy. I'm not an artist so don't need pencil capability nor am I a video editor so the incredible speed difference doesn't matter. Touch screen interface is really nice but not essential for my needs. If it was essential for me to buy one or the other, I would choose the MacBook Air. However, for someone else who has totally different needs, they may choose the iPad Pro. And, if money is not an issue, and you like to have the newest and greatest, buy both. That would make Apple very happy.
Good review. Thanks.
I chose a Ryzen 7
@@noway8233 ahahahahahaahah flawless victory !
I bought Apple iPad as I use it for business / taking photos / on the go and simplicity.
I also bought an older model of the apple computer for days I need a laptop but to tote around - definitely iPad and can easily take pictures and good quality photos.
Does the iPad support chrome extensions such as proctorio for test taking??
I'm not sure if it's just me but I think I hear a little distortion with the iPad Pro's testing. Is it louder than the MBA? Yes but louder the speaker means more distortion and I prefer quality over loudness.
I love my MacBook Air so far, but the number of times I've tried to tap the screen is embarrassing 😂
I don’t know which on to buy 😩. How’s your experience with the MacBook?
@@andreo.e5806 I would go with the macbook if you have any actual computer needs, I have a 4th gen ipad air that only gets turned on for drawing and watching the occasional youtube, processor aside I could never see it replacing a laptop with a real OS.
I have a MacBook Air and honestly I’m thinking about swapping it for a iPad Pro 12.9. I basically only use my laptop for watching tv and FaceTiming. The difference in sound quality really sold me on the iPad Pro
I have the same problem. Can decide witch one of them choose. I’m not programmer and I don’t render movies.. just surfing the internet and watching movies. I have been using iPad from 2nd generation until. Now I realized that even iPad 2 was able to replace my regular PC. IMO better choice would be iPad 12,9
Both you you go for ipad
@@DragonIce421 Actually I bought MacBook Air m1 16gb gold and its perfect! highly recommend.
@@JohnnyBravo42 I m going to get the space grey m1 macbook air soon..would be great if u share more of your experience 🤩
@@JohnnyBravo42I got the 11 inch with the Apple Pencil and I love it!
Can u use the ipad pro Like putting it on ur lap? With the keyboard of it.
Well i don't know which one to get ? I recently graduated and thinking to buy one of this, coz i read pdfs and watching Netflix and thinking to start online business, but I'm confused
You can buy the new ipad air+ disconted MBA for around the same price as that iPad Pro setup, let that sink in
Fuck the display and bit better speakers, you get a whole fucking macbook with the iPad air compared to only ipad pro.
Got a M1 iPad Pro with a Combo Touch. Best laptop set up I ever had. Logic tech makes amazing keyboards
Surely the magic keyboard blows it away?
Has anyone created an APP for the iPad Pro 12.9 M! that gives all the function keys on the bottom of the ipad screen? Would that be an idea?
One could also buy the Logitech Combo Touch Keyboard Case, i actually prefer it over the Magic Keyboard because the Keyboard ist detachable, so i can use it for drawing without having to completely remove the case and can still place it at any angle thanks to the case
Keyboard and Touchpad are almost the same quality now, and it got a row of function keys
A way to improve the trackpad experience on iPad Pro is to set up 2 finger secondary click! Click/tap with 2 fingers and you get those menus without needing to click and hold
This channel covers a lot of boundaries, good
Coming from ipad 12.9 from 2018, and I don’t have any other device no laptop no phone, the ipad is a joy to use the things you can do is overwhelming you can study in every aspect like taking notes by typing or by handwriting the AppStore has amazing apps for a wide variety of workflow, the batter life on the iPad is very good but nothing like the m1 MacBooks, the ipad screen is much better than the mac, and I’m waiting for the next MacBook air that’ll come next year
Where can I get the video he used to compare the screens
I have a friend who asked which to buy out of these two and I told her that I honestly thought for the price of the 12.9 iPad Pro with the magic keyboard case and 256GB of storage, I’d just get a base MacBook Air and a base model 11inch iPad Pro, both which are on sale. The cost difference with them on sale would be $150 more than just the 12.9 iPad Pro with the magic keyboard and 256GB. But now you have a dedicated tablet that is much more portable, and a full fledged computer as well and the cost difference isn’t too much more. This is the same set up I got my wife but since she’s a teacher we were able to get it to where it was just $100 more. Because I’m different, I went with the 12.9 iPad Pro with 256GB and 5G and the Logitech Combo Touch and an Apple Pencil and after all was said and done I spent $1400 for everything because of deals and discounts so not too terrible
or you can buy M1 Air and iPad 8 gen for $1330 retail price. Way better setup.
@@super_hero2 I’d spend the extra for the pro 11 inch as it’s lightyears better than the gen 8 with features like Face ID, 120hz display, faster storage, usb c/thunderbolt 3, edge to edge display, center stage, laminated display. The gen 8 also has only 32GB of base storage compared to 128GB on the pro series. But this is subjective to what the buyer is looking for
I want the new iPad Pro with the keyboard and use it as a laptop on the go with remote desktop. I need the iPad with the pencil to take notes in college and I could also remote into my Gaming PC to do coding for school assignments. Win-Win in my situation.
Apple will never do that lol
They want money
@@4tchilling956 um.. I got the iPad with the keyboard and been using RD Client to connect to my PC that has 12cores and 32gb of ram. What are you talking about? Lol
But .. if you mean a Virtual Machine then I agree. Apple will probably never do that
@@luisriveragonzalez9052 damn that’s insane I never knew you could do that with an iPad to your pc I’m new to all this tech stuff I’ll try it out and do some more research on it
Omg thank you homie. Seriously I am so glad I clicked on this video because if there's one thing that I have a lot of is files. I really want the iPad because it's way newer but if it lacks those capabilities that I need as far as storing my files I would totally just go with the traditional laptop
Would have gone iPad Pro m1 but I need final cut. I got my m1 air back in mid December and love it. Complete base model runs multiple streams of 4K with heavy colour effects like butter. Super happy with my decision
If they bring final cut to iPad at wwdc21 in a couple hours may or may not sell MacBook for it. Idk yet
Max :
The blooming is there but it's hard to see
Me with myopia :
I can see blooming on my OLED screen 👁️👄👁️
This is the most awaited video!!!!
I have a 2015 MacBook Air which I use for all my work, still more than capable for Pages and Keynote plus photo editing. Use my iPad mini 6 for gaming and making quick notes. Happy with my combination. The iPad is restricted with iPad os.
Love how you covered almost every aspect!
