@@ToreOnRUclips historically we know apple is always late to the party and other manufacturers have been "at it" longer. but when apple does it, it really does take over the industry
What’s going to change the industry is that Apple is about to establish dominance in multiple appliances with Apple TV, iPad, iPhone, Watch and Mac. The integration in their walled garden is tight and getting tighter. Once they clean up the iOS applications on the Mac, they’ll shift their eyes to gaming. I know it’s casual right now, and even with gamepad integration, they have a way to go; but AAA publishers are going to take a serious look at this platform that will not only encompass a very capable Mac, but also iPad and iPhone platforms that will simplify development and deployment. From a market perspective, there are a lot of kids who were raised by iPads and iPhones as well. Lastly, China is pretty Apple mad. Apple may not dominate the entire industry, but they are about to buttress that wall especially in higher end consumer electronics. As a fanboy, I’m excited to see where Apple will end up in five years, and this is all post-Jobs.
Thanks for the excellent comparison video! Although some who bought the previous (though recent) version may be a bit upset, I miss the days of blindingly fast innovation. This gives me a warm nostalgic feeling.
As an all time Apple hater, I cannot understate just how much of a monumental achievement this is. This is like a 5-fold generational leap in an instant. It's like going to the future and bringing back a computer. Better performance, EVEN when emulating x86, with much lower temperature and much longer battery life. This is insane. Microsoft, also a tech giant, couldn't make x86 apps run on the ARM Surface. I hope that with this Apple sets a standard that others soon follow. Looking at this, I definitely won't by an Intel computer any time soon.
Well ... it doesn't run 32bit apps. But that might be a problem of the OS. I'm a PC (desktop user): Windows and Linux. 16bit compatibility is an issue in 64bit OS, but 32bit should not.
@@brunorbf have you heard of Rosetta? It's the translation layer that allows these ARM chips to run x86 apps (32 bit) without much penalty in performance
@@eddydrouet1888 Yes, I did hear of Rosetta, but also saw a video in another channel in which the user was unable to run 32 bit apps. But the problem was not the Rosetta chip, from what he showed. I'm not a Mac user, although I do have some old ones (power PC) for retro use. It never drove me. I find it too overpriced for what it does, and it doesn't fit my needs. But to each his own. But, as a mobile/laptop chip the M1 is indeed revolutionary.
@@tek1645 Zen 1 was a wakeup call they didn't heed. Zen 2 started eating their desktop and server markets in a serious way in 2019 (along with making them irrelevant in high end workstations) and finally threatened their laptop dominance in early 2020. Zen 3 now has the desktop performance crown (and the next generation server, workstation, laptop and APUs will be beasts too). Now add Apple providing the first genuinely solid ARM laptops, their cash cow of the laptop market is even more threatened. Watch Microsoft get together with Qualcomm (and perhaps Samsung) to produce solid ARM Windows laptops. Hopefully MS can produce an x86 translator comparable to Rosetta (or maybe licence the tech) to produce some genuinely low power laptops while AMD is eating up the high power x86 laptop market. Intel seriously needs to get their process node mess sorted. Their engineers have produced some remarkable workarounds to keep 14nm on life support but dear lord they need a serious die shrink.

I think what really helps is that the M1's SoC has the CPU cores, GPU cores and Neural Engine core all very closely coupled to each other. The result: shockingly fast performance, especially in graphics. Can you imagine an 8 high-performance core/16 GPU core SoC, the likely configuration for the higher-end MacBook Pros and the iMac? 😲

Intel have been caught with their pants down by AMD’s recent efforts, and haven’t been able to get their shit together in past few years, struggling just to keep relevant, not even keeping up, really. I predict, in no more than ten years, Intel will be reduced to bespoke microcontrollers and legacy hardware support. The x86 architecture will outlive them. I’m sure AMD will continue to advance it, but I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if we found that AMD had been experimenting with ARM and RISC-V on the quiet for the past couple of years, getting ready for a seismic shift like this. Remember, pundits have been saying since at least 2012 that Apple should be looking to shift to ARM, and prior to that, Microsoft was trying to push to ARM as early as 2007.
Will also switch once the android studio/flutter and other dev tools run perfectly on the m1 chip. I might go for air since air and pro are basically have the same specs and im not a fan of touchbar
Oh man!! This is absolutely awesome!! Your video is full of info and examples. This will help me a lot to go for an Air M1. Thanks man!! Btw, I’m a new subscriber
Most of you don’t know this maybe: the intel air is intentionally crippled in 2 ways: the fan doesn’t connect to the heat sink and the heat sink does not actually touch the CPU die. When I discovered this at first I am infinitely baffled as to why, but now I think apple did this to make M1 look better. It’s still a wayyyy better chip, I just think I should point this out.
I've been thinking the same thing for a while now. If that isn't intentional crippling, I don't know what is. I'd be interested to see a comparison between the new M1 and a properly made Laptop that's running Hackintosh software so we can get some fairer comparisons. @@ToreOnRUclips they ve been at it yet nobody heard about it. Wait 1 year to see the level Apple is taking this new tech to
It’s to early to say, coz soft is the king, hardware is the second.

Yes Apple haters are impressed 😂😂😂
Which I am not ......
@@elishavijoy3522 why are you not impressed?
Well ... it doesn't run 32bit apps.

Intel crying right now 😭😭
Literally 😂😂
The buyers of early MacBook air 2020 are really crying right now!
@@paulomark i really am
They've been crying ever since 2017 because of AMD
If it were up to intel, it’d take a year to get 20% faster, 5 years to get 2x faster and 15 years to get 4x faster. This is like intel in 2035.
Dude you are not comparing same arch.
Plus do nothing about the heat and power consumption. Now we realize how Intel has been skating by all these years taking customers money
Also, 20% yearly improvements means 4x in 8 years, not 16. Not defending intel, just pointing out a mistake:)
More like 2.5x faster after 5 years and about 15.4 x faster after 15 years because a 20% performance boost each year compounds

I think what really helps is that the M1's SoC has the CPU cores, GPU cores and Neural Engine core all very closely coupled to each other. Intel is so DONE. Even me, hardcore Windows user might switch to Mac.
Competition brings out the best of everyone. Im sure Intel will put their shit together now and make something to compete.
@@Jimmyxsx I wouldn’t count on it.

Apple: Let’s release the new M2 chip on the MacBooks.
Max Tech: TIME TO TEST!
Also comparing any flagship computer to an i3 these days is like comparing a rowboat to a speedboat. Of course it's going to fail.
