Turning pro at 26: Cyrus Monk on sacrifices, staying power and how to achieve the "pro" dream

Forty-eight minutes, 18 seconds after Mathieu van der Poel crossed the line on the Roubaix Velodrome, race debutant race Cyrus Monk rolled in.
In his second year with Q36.5 Pro Cycling, he was the final rider to cross the line; yes, outside the time limit, but he finished.
If you watch the footage on the team’s social media sites channels, you can hear the cheers from those who hadn’t called it a day but hung around to see each and every rider who took on the 29 cobble sectors across the line. It's not the result he was after, but it was a longer road to get to the finish of Roubaix than just the 29 sectors that day. We spoke with Cyrus about his path to the pro ranks.

He crashed at Flanders and was last man on the road 20 minutes behind all the cars but he kept going. The crowd gave him a huge cheer and loads of respect for keeping at it.

Great interview. Yes, I remember Laurent Brochard. I think he raced up until he was 40 or 41 years old. Maybe it'll be the magic mullet that will keep Cyrious in the pro ranks for many years to come.
