I have a 95 3.8. My thermostat is staying in the middle and then the fan turns on. Driving it’s at about between N and O. Siting and running long enough it’ll get to halfway when it hits between R and M the fan turns on. Just asking. A friend had one but it never went above O.
The thermostat and if A/C is running will make a difference in the placement of the needle. When A/C is on, the fan is always running. So if you have a 160 degree thermostat and have the A/C on, you could have a lower needle placement than someone with a 195 Degree thermostat with the A/C off.
Someone probably replaced the original one with a cheap housing without the bleeder. If you don't want to replace it. You can just remove the hose from the housing and fill it directly with coolant.
Did you ever figure this out. I have a 1994 GT as well and need to do a coolant flush, but where the bolt is supposed to be, it's not there. Little indentation where the bolt should be, but no bolt. Solid metal over it. I've been the owner since it had 8k miles, and as far as I know the thermostat has never been replaced. Only ford dealership has done repairs. I want to flush the system, but don't want to have issues with air pockets.
@@hotrodray6802 Do you mean you just made your own bleeder valve? I have a 91 Mustang all factory and no bleeder valve. Just going to burp the cooling system the original way.
Hey man, my 95 gt doesn’t have that bolt near the upper radiator hose, I replaced the thermostat a few days ago and filled it back up with coolant, and there’s an air pocket in the system. could I just use the radiator spill proof funnel and have the car run to burp the system?
My foxbody 5.0 after running for 20 mins still in l on normal and and idling heat will work and it will rise driving goes down and loose heat any ideas ?
Mine is stock, I suspect some replaced the stock at some point. Simply remove the upper radiator hose and put coolant into the housing until about an inch before the top. This will burp the system for you.
I’m in the same predicament have no bolt on my housing and just replaced the thermostat and it keeps overheating a bit and fan is kicking on late is that a air bubble that would cause that and did notice letting it run with cap off the fluid raises up a bit over flowing on the ground

Blown head gasket or blocked coolant passage. You can try using radiator flush kit and see if it helps. You might get lucky and it clears itself, if that is the issue.
@@chasingmustangs the car had evidence of sitting for a long time when I got coolant looked nasty so I changed the coolant and thermostat I'm going to try to bleed the system again using this procedure, does nasty coolant foam when hot or is it because of exhaust gasses?

Yes I'm gonna have to do this as well, I thought just squeezing the coolant tubes would do the job. Now looking at this video, I guess even though I already have coolant in the reservoir, I need to Unbolt that nut to release air
Dumb question but what if that screw hole actually has a temp sensor for efans? 🤔
@_moes_garage_ I would pull off the upper radiator hose and fill it through the spout.
@@chasingmustangs thanks!
What’s the size of the bleeder on thermostat housing. I can’t seem to find the right sized one, used hex and everything was bigger or too small.
T50 torx bit

Same thing with mine you find the problem?
I have a 94 5.0 and mine doesn't have a plug like that
Some GT don't have them. You would remove the upper radiator house and fill it that way. This will get any bubbles out.
My thermostat housing doesn't have the bolt on top
Then, you will take off the upper radiator hose and fill that way. Stock one was probably replaced at one time.
@@chasingmustangs Original owner here. That bolt on top of thermostat housing is stock (94-95 mustangs).
Since I don’t have the bleeder valve do I remove the radiator hose from the radiator side or thermostat side ?
