1st video of yours I've seen, good vid... Great to hear something totally different with music you've chosen, done away with the usual predictable tunes, and went for something upbeat, I think it worked well. Gained a subscriber... Well done, looking forward to seeing more..
Is your tent tentioned properly? I would have tensioned the windward pole guyline so that it maintained its initial shape in the wind rather then let the wind flatten it.
Looked like a great walk and camp.Nice to see the Allak out again also. planning to be out in mine at the weekend for a solo camp & some peaceful re-charge time. Thanks for sharing… cheers Mark
@@PackBoots Managed to get the Allak out last weekend on the summit of Pen Y Fan which i just posted the footage on my channel. The weather was kind this time around, but the Allak is such a joy to use. Hope you’ve got yourself out recently buddy. Cheers Mark
@The Wiltshire Womble. Awesome video buddy. I love Wales it’s so awesome. Looks like you had a brilliant camp. Surprised how few people where up there. Was it a week day?
@@PackBoots thanks Bud… quite busy when i got there on Saturday afternoon a week ago. I started approx 2pm to avoid the morning rush and was nicely surprised how quite it was. Had a few guys reach the summit with head torches in the middle of the night which woke me up briefly. Coming off Pen Y Fan Sunday morning was very quite, but i think the weather that moved in overnight must have put a lot off from starting. Lovely camp though mate.
This is why you spend money on a quality tent and now you know you can trust it. That was a lot of wind! My Kaitum 2 has not seen weather like this yet but I am looking forward to it. Loved the video!
John Clarke 1 second ago i just bought a naturehike cloud peak 2 brand new on offer for £99.98. and i love it bear with me on this id guess the allak is about £1000 or there abouts ,so you could buy 10 cloud peak 2 .thats one for each day of the week and 3 spare, incase you break one or two (just a thought )
@@MrSilver261 If you buy a cheaop tent you can save money as if it fails, you might not be around to buy a replacement. Bought hillebergs after a wild country tent got flattened in a storm
G"day Mark. Glad to see that you are out and back in your natral elements, Can you tell me were you obtained the camping table from?. or how you may have made it yourself. Gerard. Merry christmas.
I don't think the Allak is very aerodynamic. Seems like more of a summer tent and at that point I would just go for a Rogen. This use case, especially in the morning, could use a Jannu or Suolo.
nice vid mate. how did everything hold up? (nothing bent ?) and was that the most wind you've have hit the tent b4 ?, also, may i ask, would you buy that tent again? if you had to make the choice ( i am in the market for a new tent ) last one was the MSR Elixir 2, was thinking of the Hubba Hubba 2, 2022, with the new poles... i know your tent is in a league of its own, but the weight of the Allak concerns me...would love to know what your thoughts are overall.....Thanks Gaz
Hi Gary, love the tent for loads of reasons. 1)super roomy inside. I’m 6ft5 and it’s around 10cm longer than the MSR tents 2)super strong. No bent poles on this camp and I recon it could have taken a few more mph 3)all in one pitch. Ideal in bad weather 4)flexibility. You can un-clip the whole inner whilst inside. Great when you need to get out of wet kit before getting in the main sleeping compartment. The major downside is as you say the weight. It is a heavy tent. I’ll probably use this more in the winter when the nights are long and the extra space in nice to have. Other than that I’ve been using my red label Soulo. It’s a difficult choice but if you can manage the weight it’s a belter of a tent. ⛺️👍
Sure was. Mad how quickly the weather turns. Tent performed brilliantly. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Really appreciate it. Look forward to your next vid. 👍
@@PackBoots The joys of British weather huh 🤣 so changeable. It’s a quality tent, well worth the weight and money in poor conditions. Glad you like our vids 🙌🏼 Cheers, Ben.
Hi Ben. Yep superb tent. Definitely gives you confidence knowing that it won’t fold overnight in the wind. I also have the Allak 2 when I fancy a bit more room but not sure it’s as solid as the Soulo. Thanks for watching and commenting. Full video of my trip will be out later this week. Look forward to your next vid too. ATB 👍
Just found you over on Instagram and thought I would check out your channel. Just subbed to support a fellow RUclips vlogger and hiker out there. Nice scenery! I live on the west coast of norway, and I can't decide whether to get the staika or allak. The weather can get pretty scary, especially above the tree line. After seeing this I'm considering the staika.. Would you use the allak again under similar conditions?
Thank you for watching. Maybe consider the Allak with 10mm poles. Pretty sure the weight would be less than a Staika and give you extra strength over the 9mm poles. Would be happy to put it back out in those conditions. Never ever thought that the poles would break. Love this tent. 👍
Enjoyed your Video. I have a Stika I haven't used much so have been looking for Vid of a Stika in a storm. The Allak looks like a Red Label Stika so I watched video with interest. The way the poles where distorting in the morning shots was spectacular! Do you think adding extra guys into the wind might have helped? Glad you and the tent survived.
Hi Mike, love the Allak. Not quite as strong as my Soulo but performed well in these winds. You could try additional guy lines but not sure where I’d connect them. Still reckon the tent could have taken a few mire mph of winds before failure. Super strong. 👍💪👏⛺️
Ok, I'm glad to see you survived, it looked like an interesting if sleepless trip. I have only one question, what pack/size do you use? I have an Allak and looking to buy a new smaller pack so I'd be interested to know what you are using as our equipment list looks identical.
Hi Ian, using an Osprey Kestral 68. Works well. I also use a Sea to Summit e-vent compression stuff sack for the tent to reduce the pack size and keep it separate from my dry kit. 👍
Need to buy an anemometer! There’s always a fascination with wind speed. Though, like rain hammering a tent, it always seems ferocious when you’re inside…
