All my Salomon shoes didnt last longer than 6 month. Split soles, soles breaking or loosing the waterproofing after short time. They are really comfortabble and I like to wear them, but they are not long lasting. So I would not buy them anymore.

It’s an awesome route but would recommend you give yourself plenty of time to do it as there is quite a lot of elevation gain. I tried to do too many miles per day in some tough conditions. Some stretches are pretty remote so worth making sure you have the right provisions. Really would recommend it. I’m planning to finish the last section later this year. Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions. Always happy to help where possible. 🥾🥾⛺️👍

@@PackBoots Thanks for the advice :) I was looking at maybe 5 to 6 days and starting the opposite side in Llanagadog so there's less worry about trains. The great thing I find about watching everyone's video's is finding all the places to stop on the way, or in this case how few there seem to be. My first long distance walk was like that, barely dropped below 20 degrees, I was walking like the texas ranger by day 2. Good luck with completing it this year :)

Cracking watch as always. Just s quick question, if you could only have one between the Allak and Soulo which one do you think you would go for. The Allak is a heavy and bulky beast but the space and features are unbeatable. The Soulo is easier to find pitch spots being smaller and it is a full kilo lighter but possibly a wee bit tight to spend a lot of time in and relax. Be interested in your thoughts. Thanks for posting and ATB, Andy

Hi Andy, really tough question to answer. I find it really hard to choose between them. Both are superb as summit shelters and both have numerous benefits which you’ve listed. I think the only way I’d be able to separate them is based on the weather forecast. I tend to take the Allak when I know I’m in for a lot of rain. It’s so much easier to do your admin with the extra space and two vestibules. One can be used for wet kit whilst the other can be used for cooking etc.. I’ve been in some miserable conditions in the Soulo and whilst it’s a cracking shelter it’s just a tough place to be when you’ve got wet kit based on the available space. If you had to push me then I’d probably go for the Allak (marginally) based on the flexibility you get in all weathers. But I do agree it is a beast to carry! Hope that helps? Appreciate you watching as always.

Many thanks for such a detailed reply, I really appreciate it. Its very helpful getting the thoughts of regular users of a certain bits of gear. Ive been using a Niak for a good few years now. The internal space is great and very similar to the Allak, so it would be a big change coming down to the smaller sized Soulo. If only they made a model in between the two!!!😃 Thanks again and look forward to your next adventure.

1st video of yours I've seen, good vid... Great to hear something totally different with music you've chosen, done away with the usual predictable tunes, and went for something upbeat, I think it worked well. Gained a subscriber... Well done, looking forward to seeing more..
