Because it is very bad for your body to mess with your serotonin balance. Sertriline is also bad for your liver since your body has to work hard to constantly filter it out. All cause mortality rises by 33% and cardiovascular events rise by 15% when you are on antidepressants. Resting heart rate rises. Anxiety and/or insomnia are also bad for your health though. I do think that if you can't get rid of the anxiety/insomnia yourself (it's a lifestyle problem) then Zoloft is a good option as Zoloft is the lightest SSRI (it's approved for pregnant mothers and 6+ year old children). The rare side effects come at higher dosages or from abruptly discontinuing usage and especially if you already have multiple comorbidities. It is not a good idea to stay on the drug indefinitely and it will likely shorten lifespan however you will be happy and you won't care. It is best to improve your living situation, exercise, socialize, eat better and then after a few years you can slowely wean yourself off of it.

I have been talking Sertralin blue fish 50mg for a month ago and today my doctor told me to increase the dose to 100 mg by having tow pills at once. I will tell you guys what I felt in the first week increased anxiety but I controled it with Atarax which my doctor prescribed it for me before Sertralin and its only when needed it is not a long term medicine but I can use it in case the side effects were so unbearable. I took atarax only for 3 days then the stress calmed down. Other side effects strong headache but with one pill of paracetamol it went ok. Diarrhea also was a side effect. And the most disturbing side effect was I slept too much I have even lost weight because I didn't eat as regular because most of the time I was sleeping 😴😴😴 I am affaid now that by increasing the dose I will sleep like a bear in the winter😅😅

I also have become more assertive but aggressive in a way, not to the point of getting physical but just verbally. I'm going to give it another month and if it doesn't improve i might get off it or go back to 50mg, i had less anxiety and I was much happier...even if i had little diarrhea here and there. 😂
