2022 Grom Rear Suspension Upgrade with YSS Gas Shock

- The OEM rear suspension on my 2022 Honda Grom was hurting my back from bottoming out so much during my daily commute. I decided to upgrade with the YSS shock because it had good reviews and was reasonably priced. In this video I show the process for removing the old shock and installing the new one.
Tools used: 12mm, 14mm, 17mm sockets and wrenches. Allen drivers, size 2 philips screwdriver, and a size 3 philips screwdriver. Trim removal tools and a Dewalt impact driver.

That’s not making it longer, it’s increasing preload which will “raise” it by keeping it up higher in the stroke. The lower nut near the lower mounting bolt adjusts the shock length which raises or lowers ride height.
Lowering the bike lengthens the wheelbase because the swingarm is elongated on its radius. Raising the bike shortens in.

It helps but it's not magic. If you have a Grom it's worth doing. I was 240lbs in that video and it definitely made it better. I was using it for a commute. It's still rougher than a full size bike which is what I ride now.
I did a stretch kit and lowering kit 2 1/2 inch and it feels like im griding on my rear tire lol thats awesome ty for the reply i will be buying that rear shocks.@@crashboxfly1

That's the clips that I used. It's just a general kit I keep around because I work on other vehicles too. Most assorted packs of clips will probably have a size that fits. The clips I used from this kit were a little snug but they did work. You might do better to search for "body panel clips for 2022 Honda Grom" or something like that. If you don't want to bother with that, the kit I linked does have some that will work. Hope this helps.
