  • Just got my Ruger MK IV 22/45 Lite .22lr pistol. This is an unboxing, and my initial thought on the gun. I will also take it to the shooting range and do some shooting, with and without suppressor. .22lr suppressed is great fun. It comes threaded 1/2"x28, witch makes it easy to find suppressors / silencers / moderators and compensators to attatch. The triggerpull is beyond bad, sorry to say. Long, gritty and with a long, terrible resett. I was planning on shooting it a bit before replacing it, but something had to be done; a Volquartsen trigger kit is in the mail. I will also show how easy it is to dissasemble / assemble the Ruger MK IV.

    Is this youtubes biggest ammo test?
    Some are sold out, or unavailable at the moment, but I have 70+ of these at hand already. I will use my Tikka T1X with a Zeiss Conquest 6,5-20x50, or my Bergara BXR with a Kahles Helia CL 4-12x52. Shooting will mostly be done prone, but I will be using a shootingrest when available. Range is 50 meters, or 54,7 yards. I will first run 10 shots over the chronograph to get an accurate velocity reading and prep the bore for the ammo I will be testing that day. I will then shoot five five shots groups to obtain an average group size. I will be dividing ammo into groups. They will be as follow; bulk, standard, match, high velocity, subsonic and specialtyammunition.
    The results are of course valid only in my rifle. In your guns they may group better or worse. Rimfires are notorious for this.
    I'm looking forward to doing this test and share the results with you all!
    Disclaimer; This video is for entertainment purpose only. It's not an instruction film to be followed. I'm just a happy hobbyist, and not an expert on reloading or shooting by any means. Remember, reloading and shooting is inherently dangerous, and can cause injury and/or death. You do everything at your own risk!
    Always use eye and ear protection when on the range, or handling weapons. And first and foremost use your brain!

    We bought the exact same model 2 months ago...it runs flawlessly, accurate enough, and easy to clean...my missus lets me use it sometimes...

      I used a Buckmark in Steel Challenge before, but cleaning it was a pain in the behind. The Ruger function close to 100% and very easy to clean. GV

    How difficult is it to get a suppressor in Norway ? It’s about a year wait and bunch of paperwork here in the states.

      I can just go down to the gunshop and buy one, no waiting period. One of the few perks of being a gunowner in Norway.

    Should do a video about the Firearm laws in Norway. Here in the States the Liberals are constantly trying to impose more unconstitutional Firearm laws in violation of our 2nd Amendment. We already have to get Pistol Permits in a lot of states and get ATF approval on Short Barrel Rifles and Suppressors so hopefully it doesnt get any worst.

    • @thegunviking
      @thegunviking  3 года назад +1

      Don't give an inch! We just got a new law here in the EU (wich Norway isn't even a member of, but still follow), that has made it even more difficult to be a gun owner. We, as shooters, are still trying to find out how this will affect us.

      Agree! A 15 round mag would be great. But double stack .22s can be a little unreliable.

    For pistol shooting you don’t want to release your finger so much after it goes bang. Pull slowly until it goes bang then release just enough to hear the click of the reset then pull again.
    In the video you can see your finger coming completely off which will result in very poor groups compared to what this pistol is capable of.
    I coach kids on our SASP team all the time with this pistol since Ruger is one of sponsors and it’s the most obnoxiously loud pistol so just use the suppressor and don’t bother using a compensator unless you want it to sound as loud as a 9mm.

      I know, I have been national champion in pistol shooting(sivilpistol, a norwegian sport). But the reset on this Ruger is so bad that the trigger must be released all the way otherwise it won`t engage. This is a new experience for me. A Volquartsen triggerkit is in the mail. I will be using it for steel challenge, and the timer wouldn`t work with a silencer. But it is great fun, and very pleasent to shoot. I use a Hämmerli 215 for serious target shooting. Thank you for watching my videos, and thank you for the input! Bård

    Can you carry a gun in you in the car in Norway? Also how expensive is it there? Like rent food etc what’s it like?

    • @thegunviking
      @thegunviking  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hello! In Norway, it is not legal to carry weapons for self-defense. It is permissible to transport weapons in vehicles, but they must be unloaded, covered, and stored in the trunk during transportation. Regarding the cost of living in Norway, unfortunately, there are high expenses for housing and food. However, workers generally earn good salaries, and healthcare is free (and good), so private health insurance is not necessary although some may choose to have it additionally. Moving a bit outside of the major cities quickly makes housing more affordable. Regards, Gunviking.

      There are few advantages when it comes to gunownership in Norway compared to the USA, but this is one of the few. One of the other plus sides is supressors. No regulations. I could send my 12 year old niese to pick one up for me if so needed.
